Having been a fan of the east meadow location for years I was looking forward to trying this location and I was not disappointed. Before I even looked at the great options on the menu some hot pita and a mint yogurt sauce were placed on the table. Both the pita and the sauce were delicious and I couldn't wait to try the pita with some baba ganoush. For an appetizer we did order baba ganoush. We did a choice of three combination and also included the spinach pie and moust o khiar. All were delicious and I already have a combo picked out for next time. (I want to try the dolma and hummus) When we ordered our entrees I went with a lamb kabob and the cherry rice, and a friend went with a salmon kabob. All were good and have salmon was winner for me. The fare served at this restaurant is typical Mediterranean for the most part, but with a Persian twist. Everything was cooked perfectly and it all tasted fabulous. The eggplant appetizer (I don't remember what the name exactly was) was definitely the best part; it was very tender and filled with flavor. I made reservations for a Sunday night dinner, which I strongly recommend. This place is pretty cozy. They have two entrances however, a larger parking lot is in the rear. From the rear entrance there is a bar and small room for upstairs dining that's nice too. So let's talk about the food. The warm pita with baba ganoush, and hummus that was already really delicious. Does that mix with a seasonal cocktail? In my head it does, Spice is always nice! I had no problem drinking an Apple Cider Mimosa with dinner. It was savory. I love the aroma of Apple Cider. For my entree I had the Adana Kaba with brown rice. Definitely mouth watering. I just enjoy the different flavors of well cooked food that has been marinated. Simply delicious can't wait to go back. A welcome addition to an area otherwise lacking in quality restaurants. Menu was diverse with something for everyone. I ordered the Kubideh Kebab (2 skewers of grilled seasons ground beef and lamb) with white basmati rice. I like that our orders were taken via ipad (less room for error). While we were waiting, we were served grilled pita bread with a white sauce. The grilling adds a little extra flavor that's so simple, yet so many restaurants do not offer it. My only qualm would be that there's a lot of items that have an upcharge on the menu (eg: additional $2.50 for cherry rice). This place is a gem. I've been here 2 times for lunch. (Great lunch specials) and once for dinner. Everything has been exceptional and flavorful. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The chicken is so tender and never dry I don't know how they do it. The other ground meat based kebabs are also moist and flavorful. If you get the chance try the cherry rice, you will be hooked. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me over & over again, and we're done! There are really two Mediterranean restaurants near us that make good food, but only one delivers: Sufiya's. Sadly, it's become a running joke whenever we order in: "Make sure to tell them extra yogurt sauce, and when they tell you OK, tell them again, and that they forgot last time, again." It's really such a simple thing to get right, and something that can ruin a dinner when you get it wrong, which they do over and over again. Is this stuff made of gold or something? Well, Deja Vu all over again this evening. I heard my wife go through the same routine as always, and sure enough, not even two full little plastic cups for two meals. So much for "extra". I would have settled for "normal". I called back to let them know and even got acknowledgement from the person on the phone he made the request and he put it down (no offer to send more BTW). Dinner was OK, but it's like ordering a hamburger and fries and only getting one ketchup packet. Disappointing. Our dining in experiences have also been mixed. Food is good and service has been OK on the main level, but being seated upstairs was like being in another zip code. We literally spent over three hours one night having dinner (not being rushed is one thing, but having to flag down your server from the balcony is something else), and I literally had to get up and find the waitress to give me the the check, and then go to the bar to pay for it, in order to get out of there. Ridiculous. Based on other reviews it looks like we're not the only ones who have experienced disappointment with delivery orders, or service. I hate to say it, but from now on, when we want Mediterranean food, it will be somewhere else. read more

Four for food, three for attitude. Love this place usually but went tonight and had a very sarcastic snippy young waiter with a ponytail who couldn't be bothered. Served us and took our orders well, but made off jokes and when we asked about using our birthday discount he said "no. Has to be printed. Says right there." And wasn't willing to accommodate to make customers happy (who were not in the wrong). The manager over ruled him and then the waiter acted like he did us a favor and then seemed to go over to his co waitress and tell her about us. Not super professional, might not return. It's a shame because I like the food.. but there's always another location! Update: second bad experience and when I complained was told "maybe you just shouldn't come back". Nice. Several days ago I made a reservation via Yelp for a 12:30 lunch today. It was a special celebration for a dear friend. I was contacted multiple times to confirm this reservation by email and text. In the 'special requests' box I entered that we wanted to eat outside (for health reasons.) When we arrived I went inside to let the staff know we were outside and was told there wasn't any outside service today because there was only one server. Had I not been asked to confirm my reservation multiple times or had Sufiya's contacted me to say my request couldn't be honored I could understand. However this created an embarrassing situation for me with my guest and left me scrambling to find somewhere else at the last minute. Very frustrating and disappointing. read more

I had such a wonderful experience for my first time eating Turkish food and oh boy I've been missing out on this deliciousness. My waitress Eve was absolutely a delight. She made the best suggestions for drinks, appetizers and entree. We had the hummus, spinach pie, baba ganoush for apps and the steak and salmon kabobs with cherry rice for the entree.
