I love this place! They have two NYC locations, one in Murray Hill and the Union Square location. I initially went to the Murray Hill location for a tan before I went away for Memorial Day Weekend. The service was quick and prompt, and the technician explained the difference between express and the normal formula. (My natural skin tone is that of a ghost, so I'm pretty familiar with tanning products, but still appreciated her walk through.) I had an issue with my tan after it developed -- it was a little splotchy on my leg. (Turns out this was kind of my fault because I didn't rinse the tan off thoroughly enough, which is why I'm giving them a 5 star review despite the fact that I wasn't totally thrilled with how my legs looked after my first experience.) When I texted my feedback to them (they let you text them instead of calling, which is AMAZING), I not only received a prompt and kind response and an offer to get my tan touched up for free that day, I got a voicemail and a text from the head of customer experience within an hour. I wasn't able to come in for that touch up because I had already left for vacation, but they applied a $15 credit to my account. ALSO: first-time customers get a complimentary 2nd tan with their first one. There are some black-out dates (totally makes sense), but what an incredible deal. I just got my second tan at the Union Square location. The customer service was amazing; the technician, Eve, was wonderful; and they were so, so lovely from start to finish. I will definitely be going back to the Union Square location. I appreciated that Eve made some conversation and was efficient and friendly throughout the entire experience. Be aware, though, that the Murray Hill location doesn't accept cash. Not sure about Union Square because I was using my complimentary tan. They also have a membership program that provides discounts if you tan regularly. You really can't beat the price here - $49.99 for an express tan, $39.99 for the regular formula - in New York City. And it's high quality. And the customer service is out of this world. If you, like me, are so pale you reflect light and want to get a little color, come here. You won't regret it. read more

I have gone to S&B several times for both bikini sugaring and tans before vacations and special events. All of the girls are very friendly and nice, they make an uncomfortable thing not so bad by conversing with you and distracting you during the process. After I started to get sugared rather then waxed I have barely any ingrown hairs and all of the estheticians at S&B are thorough and fast. The tans are also top notch, they use natural ingredients like beet juice and leave you with a really natural look not orange, just a sun kissed glow. I always recommend this place to my friends, and will be coming back again! read more

(2/7/18) UPDATE: The director of client relations reached out to me and was extremely apologetic for their mistake. He offered me a very generous credit and fit me in today. The place is very clean and smelled like eucalyptus! (2/6/18) I reached out to them via text last week to try and schedule an appointment for a Brazilian wax. Via text, they confirmed for tonight "All set!" The appointment was for 6:30pm, which meant I would have to hustle to get all my work done in order to leave work early and get to the appointment on time. On my way over, I called confirming I was on my way. They told me I was not in their appointment book. After they pulled up our text exchange confirming the appointment, they said "that's strange" (because the proof was there) but that there were no openings. Such bad customer service! I used to have their membership when I lived in Philadelphia and kept it when I moved to NY. I love this place! First of all, all the locations are so pretty and smell so good. They are super clean too. I've only had very good service. In NY, Amanda is my favorite. I prefer sugaring over waxing because it is much more gentle on my skin. I feel like it lasts longer too. Yes, the prices can seem high but they only use very high quality ingredients, not only for the sugar itself but also for the post sugaring. I love the witch hazel product they use to calm the skin. I have tried their spray tanning once too and loved the result - even the darker ones look very natural. read more

I've been loyal to my wax lady for over 10 years. This was the first time I steered away. It was due to my sister in law finding this place in the city and me wanting to try it for the novelty. The staff at the front desk could be friendlier and maybe more talkative to the customers rather than talking about their modeling careers or whatever. The wax itself was pretty cool and fast! The wax lady was nice. She was knowledgeable about the process and seemed to truly enjoy it. The price was great! $49 in the city? Can't be beat. However, I will continue to go to my wax lady because she is a lot more thorough and doesn't put me in any awkward positions during my wax. This wax was also more painful than I am used to. I will return to Sugared & Bronzed for my free wax, which is also a good draw for customers. read more

I have been spray tanning for YEARS and my experience here was mediocre at best. I booked an appt for a spray tan, arrived a few minutes early to fill out my paperwork and was greeted and began my spray on time. I decided to go with the express as I was traveling that day and wanted to shower before leaving NY. I found it odd that the girl doing my tan didn't suggest any barrier cream on my hands or feet (this has ALWAYS been something I have used) and when I asked she said it wasn't needed for this tan. There was no explanation about the shade I wanted or anything. Again, I had to ask. As a first time customer I would have expected a little more information. At the end of my session, I paid and was not offered the first time customer deal (buy one get one tans) which was a little irritating. When I got home I followed the after session care card with great detail. I showered at exactly the right time and OMG...my tan was INSANELY dark. It did not look natural at all. I spent the next several days scrubbing my face so I didn't look bright orange in my best friend's wedding. On top of that, my hands and feet were crazy splotchy and way way too dark (again, why wasn't barrier cream suggested?). I would like to point out that the ladies working here were very friendly and welcoming upon my arrival. read more

This was my second spray tan experience ever, so I'm not an expert, but this salon seems like a very professional and high quality experience! Their formula is supposedly more natural than normal, and it's more brown than orange which leads to a more natural tan. They give you 4 color options, ranging from slight glow to end of summer tan. I went for the 3 tan and had an amazing color after! The professionals tan you by hand which is much nicer than a machine spraying you, which is what I experienced at another salon. I washed off my tan after 16 hours which is in the 10-24 hours they recommend but for the impatient among us they have an express tan option for an extra $10 where you can shower a few hours after. I started coming to Sugared + Bronzed regularly after I tried out their $49 for two express tan special for new clients a few months ago. For my first tan, there was a bit of splotchiness on my chest and shoulders the next day -- I sent them photos and they let me come in right away to get it sorted (and even gave another complimentary tan!). I was very impressed with the level of customer service and I haven't had a problem with a tan since. I've had a few different technicians and they've all be super friendly and professional -- I've had a bit of learning curve figuring out how to get the most out of my tan and they've given the best advice. This past tan lasted 10 days before even showing the smallest signs of fading. Genuinely very pleased with the service! read more

I love this place. They are so efficient and you're in and out with a great tan in under 30 mins. It looks very natural and they work with you to decide your shade. The new customer deal is awesome and you get two spray tans for the price of one. I've had spray tans before at other salons and really nothing compares to the price or the results. Staff is so friendly and very helpful too. Update: So the first spray I got was the express tan which was phenomenal. They were out of express this time so I had to get the regular and sadly it's not as natural. The express tan had better coverage and I didn't have any dark spots or streaks. I've been looking for a place for sugaring ever since I moved back here from San Francisco. My SF aesthetician, whom I adore, did some research and told me this was the place that came up most frequently. My experience: I walked into a teensy waiting room that was crammed with people. I filled out their on-line paperwork, though it made me uncomfortable since they asked for a lot of personal info and I have no idea how secure their servers are. I was seen quickly once I was done with the forms. I was lead into a space that felt sort of temporary and flimsy, as though it was a pop-up business. The aesthetician I saw was friendly, and competent enough, although she didn't seem to know what services (as in, body parts to be sugared) my reservation was for. The price was good, as I took advantage of one of the specials they seem to offer all the time. So why only 3 stars? Two reasons. First, the whole experience was like being on an assembly line. It was weirdly impersonal, which isn't the best way to feel when someone is working on one's most intimate bits. There was nothing spa like or relaxing about the place. Secondly, and for me the main issue, is that you are assigned whomever is next available. You can't develop a relationship with an aesthetician. Just as I do with my hair and nails, Once I've found someone I like, I want to know that I'll see that person, not just whomever happens to be available. Guess I'll keep looking. Until then, I'm seeing my California person whenever I'm back there. That might not be as frequent as I'd prefer, but at least I know whom I'll be seeing. read more

Out of all the places to get an airbrush in the city (and close surrounding areas), this is the only place I'd recommend. They open early and don't close until late, which makes it super convenient for a busy schedule. You also can't really get a more central location than Union Square. The girls are always very nice, efficient, and always on time. I really do like the solution they use. The only tip I would give to new airbrush goers is to really moisturize your skin during the winter months. If your skin is dry, your skin will crack and your tan will not last as long! read more

Came here for a spray tan before my wedding. The girls were very descriptive, and put me at ease as I don't really spray tan. The actual process was about 20 minutes and my girl did a great job explaining everything; who to do,l not to do for the best results. They didn't rush me either was I was drying off. I made an appointment online at 6pm , It was a quiet time. they give a free tan for your next visit if you're a new client. I wanted a healthy bronzed glow for my wedding, and we went with the express version because I hadn't showered that day and wanted to shower quickly that night. I came out a little too bronzed ( my skin is already golden) so they advised me to wash it out ASAP. I washed it off almost 2 hours later - in hindsight, i wondered if that was a bit too early because I had a very very mild effect but in the end, it was great. They even texted the next day to see how I was doing. read more

This place is amazing clean and most importantly effective in hair removal. I most love the ability to make late hour appts up until 10:20pm. I used to wax and now that I'm sugaring not only is hair coming back lighter in thickness but it is also helping with the darkening of my bikini area that has occurred over the years. read more

I work right around the corner from S + B and have been looking for alternatives to shaving because I have a very unmanageable and sensitive bikini area. I decided to give them a try because of the convenient location and their two for one Brazilian special for first time clients. Side note: I've never been waxed before, and was incredibly nervous about being naked in front of a stranger! They had a text reminder service which let me know the day before to confirm my appointment. I do wish they texted me a couple days before hand as a reminder because I would normally forget since I booked my appointment a month in advance. (the only reason I remembered was because I spent all week preparing for the pain of my first Brazilian ever). I also got a text the morning of with another reminder which was great. When I got there I checked in and was seen within 5 minutes. I had a 1:00 appointment and another client came in to check in for a 1:20 appointment right after me. I was seen by Kelly, who was so great! I told her it was my first time and that I was nervous and she really talked me through the whole experience and made me feel super comfortable. The pain was to be expected, and she made sure to check in to see if I needed a second to relax. She told me the process was only "rushed" because they think the clients want the process over as fast as possible. The only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because despite her explaining that to me, the process still did feel a little hurried, and I knew there was a 1:20 appointment that needed to be tended to after mine. Not an issue to me at all, but I could see why this could minimize some else's experience. There were also a few spots that were missed but again, for me that's not much of an issue. Kelly briefly explained to me how to take care of my skin post sugaring and when I should come in next. Pending results (how my skin reacts, what the RE growth is like, etc) I will decide whether to return or not. I am hooked! I am so in love with their tanning after one time I know this place will be a regular for me... 1. They are open late.... you can get tanned at 9pm.and be out by 920. 2. The people working their are honest and sweet. There is no pretentious stuck up vibe, at all. 3. The tan itself took like 2o minutes....super fast ....didn't smell gross and wasn't sticky weird or ncomfortable. 4. Affordable!!!! 5.
