Phenomenal service from Roberto. We had the New York strip, ribeye, herbed chicken, and crab cake with shrimp. We also had lobster bisque as an appetizer. The Black Sea salt butter that accompanied the courtesy bread was really good. My only complaint was the ribeye lacked seasoning. I've never reviewed a restaurant....ever, so let's start there. I was on the north side of town, and thought I'd treat myself to take out after work. Quite literally the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant in my life. I've worked in restaurants since I was 16 and could not believe how bad this was. The salad was horrible, it took ONE HOUR to get, and the hostesses chatted about how the kitchen forgot about it directly in front of me, and then blankly stared at me while I sat in their waiting area for 45 minutes. They knew how long I had waited and didn't think to notify anyone or let a supervisor know. I had to ask them to please check on my food. When I got home I opened the box to four leaves of lettuce and 4 gigantic chunks of cold steak. My parents used to frequent this restaurant when I was younger, now I know why they haven't gone back. read more

Well let's say I gave an additional star for the nice atmosphere. A quiet place to relax and enjoy good conversation. The waitstaff was good and pleasant. I had the rib eye and my wife the "long bone" pork chop. Sides were a lettuce wedge and a baked potato. The wedge gets 5 stars on its own. The baked potato was not piping hot but warm. The pork chop was way over cooked ordered medium but came devoid of any pink. The chop was tasty but dry. My rib eye was ordered medium well but came double well. No seasoning was on the steak making it rather blah but editable. So it was a great evening and we enjoyed ourselves. But a 50$ steak should have been much more flavorful and cooked to perfection. It was more in the 25$ range. I found out that Sullivan's has recently been sold. All 14 stores. That might be the reason they have dropped in quality somewhat. read more

We have dined at Sullivans three times within the last year. We returned tonight for a special occasion, dressed and prepared to pay $400-500 for the four of us to enjoy a wonderful meal. The staff were top notch; however the food fell short. Salmon was dry and tasteless, the wagyu steak was over salted. The shrimp and lobster bisque was not good and it tasted like frozen shrimp. had been undercooked, diced, then added to the bisque (was a starter for two of us). My husband ordered the garlic lobster mashed potatoes; however, all they did was ladle the lobster bisque over the mashed potatoes. It was disgusting really. My daughter ordered a banana foster and it was simply bread pudding.. I think we'll go back to Flemings and give them a shot. We did pay $500 for a meal and sadly disappointed. We do not want a free gift certificate. We do not want any free item resulting from this review. We just don't want to go back. Obviously, they've had a chef change and it's not a good one.. We did not complain at the restaurant. We never do that. It's simply not fair to those around us and we wanted to pay for the food served. We usually like Sullivan's and been often, but today's meal was not good at all. We had the lobster soup and it was beyond salty, so we didn't eat it. The salmon seemed like it was poached, and lacked any flavor. The potatoes weren't seasoned & were over whipped. I couldn't send it back due to it being a take out. Food was good it took 2 hrs to get our food because they were short staffed. We got the Sure Deal with the smaller portions. However the portions came out of huge plates and the presentation was horrible. The Caesar salad comes out with huge lettuce leafs that you need a chain saw to cut up without getting a cramp. No communication from our server that there was a problem. DO NOT ask for a different table if you don't like where they are putting you as we plus 4 other couples learned "it's not part of our plan." The hostess was rude however the manager tried so hard and she was very kind. For $250 dollars with no alcohol it was not worth it. Oh and when we asked to see the drink menu I was told "they had the same suspects as other places!" What in the world????? I ate here with a Meetup group yesterday afternoon/evening. I ordered two things from the Happy Hour menu. One was Cheesesteak Eggrolls; I was not impressed with the sauce they were in. The other was Sriracha Shrimp Lettuce Cups; they were delicious. Every item on the Happy Hour menu was $7. The prices on the regular menu are high, but the Happy Hour menu is quite reasonable. Service was slow, but then we were a large group and wanted separate checks. It took almost an hour for us to get our checks. Very disappointed for hubby's birthday dinner. His salmon was good but nothing to write home about (3 little stalks of asparagus, really!) $29 ???!!! Lobster Bisque is now shrimp and lobster. Doesn't taste the same. I had French dip that was so dry I sent it back. Didn't even look like Prime Rib. So sad. We used to come here all the time. Had our wedding reception here 11 ago. Went tonight to eat after a concert. We arrived about 7:50, and the restaurant was about half full. The restaurant smells overly fishy, which killed the vibe a bit. Our server was nice, but she forgot one of our side dishes. We were assigned a different server halfway through our meal, so we never got drink refills. We waited a lot of time for a dessert menu, and by the time the new server came to ask what we wanted, we were ready to go home. Four of us went out for our anniversary the day before. The ambiance was good...typical steakhouse vibes. Our waitress was also very good...she was attentive. My lower stars were for the food. First, it was Arizona Restaurant week (not Sonoran which is Sept) and Sullivans had a special going for $55 for a 3 course dinner. Choice of soup or salad, choice of 4 or 5 entrees and choice of 3 deserts. But on their website and some of the menus, they offer a 3 course pre fixed meal for $46. Guess what? Exact same menu as the offering for restaurant week, but $6. less. Kinda sneaky IMO. We had chargrilled oysters as an app...they were good...have had better. One lobster shrimp bisque...very rich but good. Two Caesars salads that were presented with whole leaves of romaine, croutons and parm. Also good but kinda different...tossed would have been better. My regular salad was good as well. Three steaks were ordered and one salmon. Sides were sautéed spinach or mashed potatoes. When the waiter brought our food, she asked the steak eaters to cut into them to make sure they were cooked properly. They were all ok at the time, but one of them was thinner on one end and that part was well done. But the plating was absolutely terrible! They were on a great big oval plate with this tiny little 6oz filet and a side cup of mashed potatoes. Nothing else on the plate ...no garnish, parsley, anything! All plate! My salmon was on top of the spinach, but the spinach had slid around the plate cuz it also was way too big. Again, nothing else on the plate. And it was leaning towards being overcooked. The deserts offered were cheesecake, key lime pie and bananas foster pudding. They were ordinary. We all agreed not going back for that kind of money. And no anniversary wishes either.. read more

Talk about amazing food! This was the best steak I have had in Tucson. I had the bone in filet mignon and my kids split a Cajun Ribeye. Sides were the Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and the lobster Mac and cheese. For dessert we had the cheesecake, banana pudding dessert and the Peanut Butter Pie. We having been coming here for date nights an anniversary dinners for the past 3 years. Last Sunday was our 1 year wedding anniversary and once again it did NOT disappoint. The waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. The manger came by a couple times to make sure everything was going well. Disappointed from the moment we stepped in. We arrived approximately 15 mins early for our reservation. The hostess never lifted her head to make eye contact and acknowledge our presence; only told us it would be 20 minutes before we could be seated. I am from the south where first impressions are important and this first impression of Sullivan's did not make us feel welcomed. We were seated 55 minutes AFTER our reservation time. The state of the restrooms should have been my first sign that this place has out lived it's reputation. I am not only talking about the toilet paper debris on the floor or having to use loose toilet paper rolls that were held by an unknown number of people prior to me but the ring in the toilets told me that no attention had been paid to the restrooms in quite some time. Our waiter was very pleasant and tried his best. The length of time between courses was outrageous. When my steak came it was undercooked (rare when I ordered medium) but I did not have the patience to wait should I have sent it back. The food was bland and mediocre at best. Jumbo crab cake appetizer was crispy on the outside and stone cold in the middle. Crispy calamari was not crispy. Side of Potato au gratin was burnt on top almost inedible. Crab fried rice had no flavor or presentation, it looked like canned tuna thrown on top of microwaveable rice. I would expect this level of atmosphere, service and food from our local Applebee's however we paid over $300 for two people and that only included 2 cocktails. read more

This is a review for take-out during COVID-19 restrictions.... Simply put, for the price of the food, we were disappointed. We ordered macaroni and cheese and a French dip sandwich that was supposed to come with au jus and horseradish sauce. What we ended up getting was an extremely over priced roll filled with dry, tasteless and over cooked beef. There was no sauce or au jus in our bag. It was practically inedible. I had to put a good amount of ketchup on the thing....The fries that came with it were ok. The Mac and cheese was flavorful but cold and congealed. My wife went to pick it up 10min from our house so it wasn't that it had been left out by us or a delivery person. We might go try it in person once we feel comfortable dining in restaurants again. Was hoping for a good dinner in Tuscon. Checked out this steakhouse, started with some egg rolls. Meat was dry. Then had a salad, asked if they had a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. And they brought me just the vinegar. So 0-2. Ordered a ribeye with some stuffed shrimp and brussel spouts. The steak was cooked right in the middle. But burnt on the outside. Every bite had a burnt taste. The stuffed shrimp was cold and the Brussels sprouts were just ok but probably the best of the meal. Also, ordered a few glasses of red wine, real warm. I know they are a franchise, but they are my favorite steak house in Tucson. Friendly staff and always solid service and flexibility to swamp things out on the menu. Hit them for Father's Day with my daughter. Ordered Devilish Oysters which is their take on Oysters Rockefeller. It's not on the menu. Ask for it it rocks! Think spinach, cream, ted pepper flakes, applewood bacon topped with cheese and baked. Awesome!! I always gravitate to the Prix Fixe menu that has several choices as well as upgrades to some of those. Had Cesar's Salad, Filet upgraded to 12 oz, and their bananas foster bread pudding and swapped the horse radish mashed potatoes for au gratin potatoes. Great meal for good price. Garbage food. Last night we decided to go to Sullivans after receiving two gift cards. The ambiance is great old fashioned wood and dark lighting. We sat in the bar. I ordered a mojito it was good but they did give me some old mint that I sucked up and that was gross. I tried to order calamari, but they were out of it. Mind you we sat down at 6pm so like you're already out?! Anyway attempted to order the shrimp stuff with crab. Guess what?! They were out. We asked to order the beef Wellington bites... GUESS WHAT!? They were out. So we ordered the seared ahi tuna. That should have been called seared over cooked ahi BITES. They were so small like one inch by one inch. So I had to settle for the salmon with asparagus. Apparently this restaurant doesn't use spices. Like my Salmon came out naked and pink zero seasoning and THREE pieces of asparagus. THREE PIECES ARE WE FUCKING RATIONING?! like I understand portions but 3 pieces isn't a portion. Also the sweet potato casserole was so bland. They didn't use butter or cream or milk or anything. It was straight up mashed sweet potato and water and sprinkled walnuts. No cinnamon or anything like wtf?! I'm beyond disappointed in the food. The service was okay. Truly truly disappointing experience and if I didn't have those gift cards I would have asked my meal to be free. Not worth the money at all. The food was definitely not worth the price. I usually go the Flemings. And there is no comparison. The macaroni and cheese was burnt on the top and my Sea Bass was dry. The service was also not well at all. I was at the restaurant for 1.5hrs and my waiter only refilled my drink twice. My son ordered a drink and it didn't come until my son asked. The waiter advised that he forgot to hit enter. There were literally 6 tables in the whole restaurant so customer service should have been on point. As we were preparing to leave the waiter asked if we needed are food boxes. He came and just placed the boxes on the table. I was surprised that he didn't box the food for us. It was a "Wow!" Stardate 03312022: My hubby and I went to Sullivan's to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. It was our first time to go out to dinner in 3 years and we even managed to get out of our COVID sweatpants and dress up! The experience was not so great, though, and I posted a negative review (something I don't do often). Then a rare thing happened: I received an invitation from the manager who had been off the day that this had happened. She invited us back for the opportunity to "wow" us - and that they did! Last night we went back to "re-celebrate" our anniversary. Again, we dressed up (my husband looked so handsome) and it was absolutely wonderful. We started the evening with Oysters Rockefeller which was perfectly prepared - delicious. We followed that with the market fresh greens. For our entrees, my husband had the bone in Ribeye cowboy cut (which I believe was a whopping 22 ounces) and I had, on the recommendation of our awesome server Steven (or is it, Stephan?), the Pan-Seared Sea Bass "Hong Kong Style," with garlic mashed potatoes as the side. Everything was fabulous, but the bass was a showstopper. Even my meat and potatoes husband, who I can never get to eat fish, kept talking about it on our drive home. The manager was attentive to us - and to all the other patrons during a busy Mother's Day/prom Saturday night. They even gave us a piece of cheesecake - the really yummy New York style - to take home which I am eating as a write this. We are grateful for the opportunity to go back for such a special experience. It was a beautiful evening, and it restored our faith in (restaurant) humanity. They were over booked and under staffed.We waited past our reservation time and probably would have waited even longer if I had not tracked down the hostess who was missing from the reception desk for a good ten minutes.The food and presentation wasn't that good either. Not for the prices they charge. Finally, the prix fix menu, which was what we were expecting to order from, was not available on Christmas, even though it appeared on the printed menu and on the website.We were forced to choose either from the main menu or the "Holiday menu". Holy cr**...that will be $12, thank you very much. Signature cocktails are on sale of $7 but everything else is a price gauge. Perhaps that is why the majority of the place was empty. I had a doctor's appointment on the north side so we took a late lunch. We were going to go to a French restaurant near the doctor's office but they closed at 2:00pm. We were looking for another restaurant and found Sullivan's Steakhouse in a small plaza on River road. I didn't know that they were a chain restaurant in many states in the country. Didn't matter because some of the best steakhouse are chains. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the staff and promptly taken to a booth ( because of my back injury I prefer a booth). Since it was late for lunch there were not many guests. The waiter appeared quickly, gave us the menu's and took our drink order. When the drinks arrived (homemade lemonade and a ginger ale-it was lunch) he took our food order. I ordered steak frites and Kathy ordered shrimp and lobster bisque and a house salad. She was very pleased with the food. Since this was such a nice steakhouse I thought I would order it blu rare. Very difficult to cook a steak that way ( one of my criteria for a great steakhouse). The steak was cooked to perfection with a gorgonzola garlic butter sauce. The frites were made with roasted garlic and Parmesan cheese. This is the best steak frites I have had outside of France. Of course we can no longer eat as much as when we were young so we had enough left over to make two meals for lunch tomorrow. Because we had a doctor's appointment we had him bring the check after cleaning the table. Looking at the other people in the restaurant, they don't rush you to leave. I looked at the dinner menu and they had typical steakhouse menu (which is a good thing). It looked delicious. I feel that the lunch menu was a terrific bargain. For a steakhouse of this caliber, the service really needs work. I know it's COVID time, and all restaurants are struggling, but on a pre-COVID visit the service wasn't good, and I thought it was just an off night then. My mom wanted to come here for her birthday, and we sat on the patio. I felt comfortable, because there was only one other table out there. It was not busy on a Sunday evening at 6. The dining room looked pretty dead. I was colossally disappointed to learn they're not doing their Sunday prime rib special, because that is the reason my mom wanted to come here, because I raved about it before. Now, I understand. It's probably not cost-effective for Sullivan's right now, but their menu is really limited. Our server was nice, but her visits to our table were far between. My mom, sister, and I ordered aperol spritzes. A full 30 minutes passed between when we ordered drinks and when they arrived. That's a long time with only a handful of other patrons in the joint. Water refills were also needed, because it was very hot out. Two of us ordered the tomahawk ribeye, my mom got the filet, and my dad got a burger. I guess I'm just not a ribeye gal. The steak was good, but very gristle-y. I suppose that is just the cut though. I think my mom liked her filet, but for these prices, it better be a great steak. My husband and I split a green salad, steak, and got one drink, which would typically be a meal for one. After tax and tip, that was $100. Unless they bring back the prime rib, I won't return. Other high-priced steakhouses in Tucson like Fleming's and The Keg treat you like royalty. I don't understand the subpar service. It isn't cool for how much you pay here. I'd rather go to Daisy Mae's, which is a hole in the wall, because you get an amazing steak there. read more
