We went to Sullivan's for Thanksgiving dinner. We usually make dinner at home, but the family decided to go out this year. We had reservations for 12:15 and arrived on time. The restaurant was full but seem to be very well staffed. Our first request, a straw for my daughter turned into 3 requests. OK, we thought, "It is Thanksgiving and they are busy." After bread was served and passed around, the waitress came by and took all of our knives as she cleared the bread plates. That seemed a bit unusual, but this is supposed to be a high-class restaurant, so ok. It also seemed weird that there were no spoons on the table, but one was brought if you ordered coffee or soup. Then salads came out. I needed a knife to cut some of my lettuce but had no knife. Then, the full course was brought out. Unfortunately, we still had no knives on the table which I quickly brought to the attention of the servers. Also, out of 5 meals, 2 had no gravy which was also quickly pointed out to the servers. It took 5-10 minutes to receive our knives; longer for the gravy. The food was getting cold by this time. So, it took the two of us a little longer to finish our meals. After the table was cleared, we waited probably 15-20 minutes for our desserts to be brought out. We tried to keep everything pleasant and said how busy the staff must be on Thanksgiving, but really the place was 1/2 empty when we were waiting for our desserts. No apology was ever offered for any of the above indiscretions which one could understand if it was offered. I will say that it is unlikely that we will ever go out to eat again on Thanksgiving. Came with a friend for late night dining, we both ordered the Sure Thing it's a 3 course menu. The steak was nothing special and for this reason I would not recommend this place. Now the Sure Thing is a great deal and for late dining in Tucson options are very limited. Nothing was bad but for a steak place these steaks were not great. We started off with the shrimp & lobster bisque, as neither of us wanted a salad. It was good, so meal was off to a good start. I had ordered a glass of prisoner (red wine) which is my favorite glass of wine. My friend ordered his usual gin drink. I got the 10oz new york strip, it was pretty flavorless, the sauce you can get on the side was gross, it is a thick gelatinous gravy and was cold. The plus side is the steak does come with mash potatoes, that was good. My friend paid for the indulge ordering the ribeye and he added on the crab stuffed shrimp. He was not impressed with the steak and thought the stuffed shrimp were ok, I liked the stuffed shrimp but would liked it more if they were warm instead of room temp. He also did not like the sauce abd thought the same thing that it was a cold thick gravy and didn't taste good. The 2 sauces we tried were the burbon peppercorn and the bordelaise.. Now the dessert I got the banana foster bread pudding and I absolutely loved it. My grieve got the cheesecake and after one bite of mine said he wished he got the same dessert. We treated 6 of our associates to dinner for a work celebration. The atmosphere was nice and if we weren't paying so much and this wasn't known to be a fine dining steak house I would give a higher review. 4 of our steaks were not cooked the way we requested. I ordered the filet medium rare, it came out rare and cold in the center. Not that big of a deal but the waiter asked me to pick up my steak and place it on my bosses used butter plate so he could take it back to the kitchen. That was strange considering the type of establishment this is. When he brought my steak back it was well done and dry. I ate it (not wanting to wait another 20-30 min) but kindly let him know when he came to clear the table that the steak ended up over cooked. At the very least I expected someone from management to come out and acknowledge it but that never happened. One of my associates had to remind the waiter about her drink 3 times. At one point our waiter asked her if she was sure he didn't bring it out. Turns out it was sitting at the bar all three times she asked. The food wasn't bad but it also wasn't amazing. I can't possibly say "Thank you" enough to the amazing staff who helped make our elopement so perfect. We picked Sullivan's to have our Zoom Wedding. It turned out way better than I ever imagined. My husband was in contact with Robert who reserved us the Mafia room for it to take place. The room was nice and private and it was romantically decorated. There were fresh rose petals on the table and a bouquet of flowers in my favorite color. Josh was our server. He definitely went above and beyond! He even took the time to take so many wonderful photographs for us to remember this special day. Cammie and Josh even took the time to be present for our Zoom ceremony and be our two witnesses. It was a lovely night. I loved the ambiance of the candle light and the music in the background. In the mafia room, you can control the volume of the music too. All of the food was delicious. The cherry of the dinner was when the head chef personally came and brought a dessert platter. Everyone at Sullivan's was so sweet. They really thought of everything to make our night perfect. My husband and I have been here 3 times over the course of 6 weeks. After the overly busy extremely long wait time over the holidays and what I can only assume over booked restaurant, then a horrible scene in the very open kitchen a week or so ago we opted to return this weekend for another go around. I didn't feel it appropriate to write a nasty letter after speaking with the very apologetic manager at our last visit but I do feel its appropriate to mention it as of now. This visit was fantastic. The meal was timed perfectly, the meal was hot and delicious, the martini's on point and the bread service was great as we never had to ask for more. Our waiter was attentive and kind. The manager from our last visit a week or so ago was there and remembered us, which is always nice. The experience was atrocious and rest assure your manager is the only reason we returned after the last visit. We arrived for our reservation about 10 mins early and visited the bar for a quick martini before being sat. The music was lovely and the bartender Hallie, I believe was her name was training another person an was very sweet and inviting. The host came for us and we were sat promptly at 7:30. We were sat at a table that was about half way to the kitchen on the left. My husband had a perfect view of the goings on in the very open kitchen. The manager that helped us that evening was working at the counter organizing the waiters to get food out to tables. He was intrigued initially and then the sickening show began. The cook on the line was using such foul language that the table across from us had children and the father I am assuming got up with his children and took them out. They were saying lets just go we don't have to listen to this. The wife then got up and left as well, I am not even sure if they paid. We could see the woman at counter that we later spoke with telling him to keep it down and at one point he threw a plate on the counter and left. He returned a few minutes later yelling F*** this to many tickets then a short Hispanic cook started complaining to the woman that was clearly trying to calm things down. It wasnt until she delivered our food with another waiter we noticed the tears in her eyes. She asked us to cut into our steaks which we obliged and they were overcooked. The apologized immediately and took the steaks to the kitchen which the steak was yanked off the plate according to my husband, the words are they f****** blind this is a perfect medium and angerly threw another steak on the grill. She returned to our table and let us know they steaks were being recooked and it she would monitor them. This poor girl obviously flustered smiled through the entire event. When she brought out the steaks a second time they were under cooked and the baked potatoes we ordered were now cold. She offered new ones and retuned with the bad news, they were out. They were out of sweet potatoes, oysters, creamed corn and chocolate cake, This was such a huge let down. We ended up getting loaded mashed potatoes which were delicious and we agreed a much better choice. This manager had our steaks cooked 3 times and bent over backwards for us that day, which is why we returned Saturday night to celebrate Valentines day. She immediately recognized us and assured us the full menu was available and there would not be dinner and a show as we had experienced before. In fact I didnt see either of the cooks that caused all the foul filthy language and this made me very happy. I am not sure what happened but I can only hope they are gone. She pulled up a chair and visited with for a few minutes and another sweet manager stopped by as well. They have restored my faith, that corrections can be made if you are just patient. This lady was busting her butt to keep up with the demand. This restaurant needs to hire more people or schedule more people based on demand or reservations. We asked for more bread while waiting for our food and it came out cold on the inside, like still partially frozen. Steaks finally came out and all were good except one that was way over cooked. It was supposed to be medium rare and it was close to well done. To their credit they took that one off our bill. Two of us ordered a glass of wine, but our server said, "Let me put in your food order and I will get that." Ok fair enough. He came back several minutes later and took the two glasses of wine order. NOW here is when everything really starts to go south. By 9:15PM we had no food, none. Our poor server brought us two loaves of bread for 10 of us (I actually wasn't quick enough to snack a slice.) I saw a table of two straight up get up and walk out of the restaurant. I asked to speak to a manager. Didn't grab her name (Female, taller) came over and said "What is the problem?" I mean seriously? For starters the Server nor Management cared to even check in and say "here are some appetizers on the house while the kitchen catches up", or "here birthday girl enjoy a drink on us our apologies" or "we are so sorry is there anything we can do while you continue to wait?" I had to straight up demand that we be taken care of. In addition all she gave was excuse after excuse. I don't care if you are busy, you knew we had this reservation and the rest of the reservations in your establishment so the poor planning should not be effecting your guests. When our dinner did finally arrive to our table shortly after 9:30PM, my steak was not even cooked at all ( I ordered Med Rare) it was basically raw, straight raw like rubber. Everyone else's steaks were either too rare to their requested temperature or overcooked and cold. To top off the most horrific dining experience to date, our server brought her cake out and it was MELTED. That's right folks, they didn't even store the cake she brought in for her 40th Birthday properly and straight up served her, her melting cake. . . I want to wrap this up by saying yes they gave us a few appetizers ( they were not good and the calamari was soggy, like they left it out of the freezer and tried to fry it quickly to appease our table,) a bottle of wine for the birthday girl, and I refused to pay for my steak I sent back and did not eat. I did tip my server because all these problems were not HIS! They are the product of poor planning, mis management, and overall quality customer service. First we were sat at a dirty/unset table (yes, we had a reservation) Second, we ordered the following drinks: Duckhorn Chardonnay Kaiken Malbec Red Breast Whiskey Bloody Mary The waiter approached and informed us they were out of everything except the Bloody Mary. Then, we ordered dinner: Wagyu Steak Cowboy Cut Ribeye Crab Stuffed Shrimp Scallops The waiter approached again and informed us they were out of everything except the scallops, along with blue cheese crumbles for the wedge salads that were ordered. When we finally got our meals, the Sea Bass was served over soggy spinach instead of Bok Choy, because....you guessed it....they were out of Bok Choy! Sullivan's is one of me and my fiancé's favorite steak restaurants. We spend almost every special occasion dining here. This special occasion was my fiancé's 35th birthday dinner. It was just her and I and we were so excited for our celebratory meal ahead. We arrived for our 6pm reservation and were immediately greeted by an absolutely horrid smell by the host station. I noticed that the doors to the bar were closed and it was clear that it was because of this smell. The hostess emerged after a two minute long absence and said that they have a sewage backup. I asked if we could be seated at the furthest possible point from the front foyer. We sat at our table and were promptly greeted by our server Aiden--who was exceptional during our experience. We ordered our food but each time a server walked out of the kitchen, a waft of the sewage stench followed them. After our salads, it started to become unbearable and I asked Aiden to kindly grab the manager as it was in regard to the smell. The manager came over a couple minutes later and offered no apologies. In fact, as she was approaching the table from behind me, over my shoulder, she said, "To be honest, you're probably in the best seat in the house for the smell." She then proceeded to go into excruciating detail about how it wasn't a sewage backup per se but rather was due to a ring that broke on a toilet. As if my fiancé wasn't nauseated enough by the aroma, the manager's excruciating detail about the smell's origin was certainly ill timed. She said this literally as our entrees were being delivered. She asked if we wanted to move to the bar. We agreed and she proceeded to--not kidding--take us through the kitchen telling us to "watch our step because it can be slippery". She brought us into the bar where we never saw her or heard from her again. Aiden, our server, provided exceptional service. However, the entire experience was marred by the conditions of the restaurant and horrible interaction with the manager. For this being a special occasion, just as with every other occasion that we come here to celebrate, I spend a lot of money. Again, I never got an apology or even checked on by the manager. She did not offer to compensate us for the inconvenience. She simply disappeared. I understand that this is not the fault of the restaurant or its staff. However, it is the responsibility of management to take care of your guests and ensure a pleasurable experience no matter what the circumstances. I am very disappointed in the our experience and will take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

My wife and I went to Sullivan's tonight for our 37th anniversary and was very disappointed. Everyone was apologizing for everything telling us new management group just took over put in new systems and didn't bother to train anyone. We've celebrated at Sullivan's many times over the years and never experienced anything like tonight. The food was subpar, the cowboy ribeyes at $52 each were terrible I've had better at Sizzlers. They also said that dessert was on them, we chose the banana foster bread pudding with vanilla ice cream on top. After waiting a long time the server brought out dessert, the bread pudding was ice cold and the server (her first day) said the ice cream was too frozen to scoop. You'd think she would have come back and ask if we wanted anything different. Nothing about this experience was good, very sad to say, for a $100 per person bill. Still, even for me $40+ for just a mediocre steak is a little hard to swallow (figuratively and literally). And that's just for a plate with a cooked meat of some kind on it. Sides? Those are extra. If the mean was phenomenal, then I wouldn't bat an eye... We all decide to go with the combo meals (AKA pre fixe menu) rather than order everything a-la-carte. We sent back the bisque because it was way to salty. The steaks came out OK, but they were not really rubbed or seasoned from what I could tell. At the risk of sounding immodest, I prepare a much better steak on the grill at home. A nice rub, some simple salt and pepper, after cooking let sit a few minutes with little bit of butter melted on top. Anyway, I ordered the salmon. It was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. I tasked the steak and it was just, meh. Also, the inside could use a really good cleaning. The floor coming/going from the kitchen area into the main dining hall is well worn and grimy looking. It's not super well lighted (like most fancy steak houses) so I did not really check out the rest of the place for wear and tear. I don't know - maybe it's must me - but if I'm dropping a couple hundred dollars on dinner, I expect a little more attention to detail and better food. read more

We had 7:15 reservations, but they weren't needed (which seemed kind of odd for a Friday!) and we decided to take advantage of the outdoor bar seating. For our meals, I started with the Caesar salad and the husband had the lobster bisque, both of which were good and standard steakhouse quality. For our entrees, I had the salmon with asparagus and he had the filet with horseradish mashed potatoes. We also got a side of the king crab jalapeño gnocchi (yes, that's a thing). The salmon and steak were fine, but the sides totally stole the show. We both agreed we want to come back just to do the bar appetizers and sides sometime soon! I also have to say that our service was awesome. For dessert, I selected the black velvet cake, and the husband told our waitress he was trying to decide between the key lime pie and the cheesecake. Since it was our first visit, they brought out both for him to try! I know this won't happen all the time (I can dream it will, though) but it was such a thoughtful touch. The bar was virtually empty at 5 which should have been enough of a warning but we sat ourselves at the bar hoping it was as good as we remembered a few years ago. Gods truth...90 minutes later after asking 3 times about our food we finally had enough and asked for the check. At that point the manager came out, apologized and said our food was being "plated" as we spoke. We had been told the exact thing 2 other times in the course of the 90 minutes) She apologized and said she wanted to box our food and send us off with no charge for the food. She was kind and apologized profusely but what can be said for that kind of experience? What a disappointment! April 13th took my husband for his bday and had Brandon as server and he was wonderful so booked Mother's Day to bring my Mother and whole family back. BIG MISTAKE! Three hours of the worst service. If we wanted a drink we had to ask for it, my prime rib and my mother's filet Benedict were cold, server kept forgetting to bring things we asked for like drink refills, cocktails we ordered, bread, then an hour later dessert came no silverware and then asked if we could possibly have coffee and again nothing to stir cream. Banana pudding flambé for some reason had some super hard chunks of brown bananas but cheesecake amazing. When we asked what she did with our leftover rib eye and prime rib steaks were and she said oh in back and then 15 minutes later came back n said they threw them out so she brought us new ones and sent us home with a container not even a bag. When we got in the car I thought pretty light box and in it was a piece of steak!!! So she even lied. I called Sullivan's asking for a manager and gal came on after holding and she said she was a manager so I told her situation, she apologized and said she'd discuss with other manager to give us a nice $150/$200 compensation to show us how it should have been and call me back after Mother's Day rush. Two days no call! Tuesday I call back and gal on phone tells me the girl that I spoke to was a hostess but took notes and that she would have manager Jose call and apologized AGAIN yet still no call. In 2 visits we have spent $600 and don't even deserve a phone call from the manager. Disgusting May15,2019 Update: Received a call from Serena and have to say she is the only one who has taken the initiative to reach out at all. She has invited us back and IF we do we will try the bar. I'd can the other managers and promote Serena for her customer contact which is vital in this industry! read more

Our waiter Josh made sure all of my questions were answered about the menu and made sure our food was nothing short of perfect. He gave amazing recommendations which made our night even better. Perfect place for an amazing dinner, with outstanding service. read more

Never fails to disappoint. Beef is just OK and for what they charge...PY Steakhouse or Flemings is much much better. Wine list is way overpriced...For $50 there should be a large selection....there isn't. 3x markups are wrong. read more

We went to Sullivans last Saturday night for my birthday. I actually feel bad writing the review because they did try. Here is my story...We had to go get someone to order our drinks. We tried two different bottles of wine but they were out of them. Finally we asked, "Which ones do you have?" Our server, God Bless him was trying so hard. He even sent the manager over becuase he knew things were not going well. While they smoothed things over and it appeared to be getting better, we waited for over 2 hours to get our food. We were there for over 3 hours and most of the time we were just waiting. It is obvious that they were understaffed and need help and I do feel for them, but they should not have taken the amount of reservations they had if they couldn't handle them. read more
