Well took my folks here for my dad's birthday and it was a great dining experience. ..expensive but great. Good thing birthdays are only once a year! Ambiance - 4 Stars Menu - 4 Stars (wide selection of beef, pork, and seafood) Service - 4 Stars Price - 2 Stars (just a little over the top for what you're getting) After ordering some wine, we started with the Oysters Rockefeller and they were just perfect - fresh and succulent. Our next course was the lettuce wedges with blue cheese dressing and it didn't disappoint being the blue cheese dressing had a Roquefort taste to it (very distinct). My dad had the chef's evening special of three filet mignon medallions each with a different topping (crab, blue cheese & fried onions, and hollandaise sauce), and it was excellent. My mom and wife ordered from a menu supporting National breast cancer awareness ($39.95) with some proceeds going to the charity. They order a salmon fillet and shrimp dish which both were fantastic...I tasted :) I had the bone in KC cut which was cut to perfection, a flavorful cut of meat. We all shared side dishes, creamy horseradish mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and crab fried rice. While the horseradish mash potatoes were bold and distinctive, the creamed spinach was the table favorite. A great venue to experience wonderful dining while celebrating special occasions. read more

We just had dinner at Sullivan's steakhouse for our anniversary and were very unimpressed. The food was adequate but not excellent and for the price I would've expected excellent. The service was inexperienced, friendly but average and then almost non-existant. The owner came to our table twice and was self-absorbed and arrogant and more concerned about his problems than the issues that we were having with poor service. His excuse was that they were understaffed, but you know what, that's not my problem. For $100 per person I expect good service and not excuses. All in all I feel we overpaid and got less than we expected. We left a full tip as it is Christmas time but we will be voting with our feet and not going back to Sullivan's. read more

Worst, most mixed up service I've ever seen. Silverware was dirty. Steak was a top dollar saline shoe sole. This place probably has business because the servers are dressed as ladies of the night. I have to say i do like this place, great happy hour , good food, and most times, great music.... except tonight...., Went to see a favorite trio, as it turned out the info on the TJS was wrong, a piano guy showed up. Being a musician I stayed to listen, I've heard allot of great piano players, and wanted to give this guy a chance. I ordered a drink, the piano guy sat at the piano and started to play horribly, long renditions of a classical pice, lasted a gut wrenching ten minutes, hitting every third note badly. I thought, what the heck, maybe he's just warming up and will actually start playing the reg. set list, he paused, then started to play another classical piece, very badly, again...., I'm thinking, Sullivan's needs a wake up call from a musician ...If you sit down, to have drinks, order appetizers , spend money...., why would you hire a terrible musician to entertain, that is just not smart,,,,, Sullivan;s, you want people to stay and spend money, hire decent musicians, Tucson has plenty,,, needless to say, I had one drink and walked out, couldn't stand to sit and listen to bad music. I think some of these places are underestimating their clientele, we, in Tucson, know music..., can't full a musician,,... Stop being cheep, get decent entertainment.... Please!!!! read more

For those of you that go for happy hour, make sure you sit in the bar area. Our group was new and didn't know that. We almost sat in the main dining area! Also, if you go with a group like I did, try talking to the manager because the place is PACKED. He was so helpful and cleared a table for us. $5 house red wine: It was good the first couple of sips, and the last few I started sputtering in my glass. I'm not much of a wine drinker though, so what do I know? The strawberry martini was a bit strong, but the blueberry lemon drop martini was so amazing. This is what alcohol should taste like! $3 gnocchi (you really can't beat the prices) This is both the cheapest and biggest gnocchi (size, not portion wise) I've ever had. It had a creamy sauce that was delicious, but it was a bit on the dry side - I'm guessing due to the large size. WHATEVER though! It was three bucks! $4 (I think) chips with bleu cheese dressing This was AWESOME. I'm not a huge fan of bleu cheese but decided to try it on a whim. It's one of those things you want to share with a friend though, because I got sick of it after finish about half. Major downside: we waited for maybe an hour and a half for our orders!! So disappointing, I used to love this place. Decided to go without red meat for awhile and opted for the salmon, bad idea. Ended up losing my whole weekend due to food poisoning from this place. Awesome food. We weren't sure what to do with our amazing portions. The steaks were mind blowing. My husband ordered the special 'long bone dry rub' with sautéed mushrooms and i ordered the NY strip straight up. The tempura onion rings were a little too hard, but the white cheddar taters were baller. I was a little intimidated by the intensity of the service. It was good, but a little too attentive. My wife and I went to Sullivan's to celebrate our Anniversary and it has been a place we've visited before and have enjoyed the food and service there. I ordered the T-Bone Steak ($59) and my wife the Grilled Scallops ($49) and a side of Spaghetti Squash in Creamy Cheese Sauce ($11). We were waited on by Nicholas, a young an energetic waiter and he was very nice and although the dinner took extra long, he would repeatedly drop by our table and apologized for the slow service. We didn't mind since we weren't in a hurry and it gave us time to talk. Dinner was served and although we're accustomed to the small portions at Sullivans, it seemed like this particular time, it was even smaller. The steak didn't look like it was 22 ounces and my wife got 5 large scallops and the Spaghetti Squash was overcooked and covered with cheese. We took 3 bites and left it on the side because it was just too rich. After dinner, Nicholas gave us a complimentary dessert and took a picture of us, printed it out and had the crew sign it. It was an amazingly nice gesture and we thanked him for the extra effort he made. The bill came to $124 after taxes and we kindly gave Nick a $25 tip in cash. I wrote the word 'CASH' on my receipt as I often do to let the service people know that they were going to receive a gratuity for their services. I checked my account a week later and I had noticed that my bill was $25 over the designated price! This has never happened to me but it seems like NICK and SULLIVANS ADDED ANOTHER $25 TO MY BILL! I called them immediately and spoke to their Manager, Tyler. He assured me several times that it was a 'Human Error' (whatever that meant) and told me that he will have it straightened out and that I should receive a $25 refund on my credit card. He also said that he would return my phone call in the next two days as a follow up to make sure that everything went okay. Until this very day, I haven't heard from Tyler and I still haven't receive my $25 Refund! I never thought a restaurant that overcharges for their food would also have the audacity to STEAL from their customers. SULLIVANS and NICK STOLED $25 FROM ME! For those of you who care about your money, make sure you check your bank account after going to Sullivan's because apparently they follow a different set of rules and their wait staff won't be happy with a 20% Tip. They'll write in an additional amount in behind your back! read more

I am rating five stars for what it is. The true second best steakhouse in Tucson next to Flemings and it is significantly less expensive. Outstanding service and quality. The entire menu is reliably good including the sides, salads, and appetizers. I have had filets, ribeye, and new york cuts. Will try the dry aged next time. Tip: the sure thing three course will leave you stuffed and is a great value. read more

My Best friend took me to Sullivan's for a birthday dinner. It was amazing from the moment we walked in. Our table was set up with rose petals. The staff was exceptional and very attentive. Our adult children gave us a gift certificate at Christmas to Sullivan's Steak House. We couldn't have been more pleased with the entire night. Everything from the greeting at the door, the water servers, attentive waitress and manager's follow-up made us feel special and welcome. On to the food, it also was spectacular. We loved absolutely everything including filet, lamb chops, wedge salad, Brussel sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes, bread and key lime pie! The wine and martini were great also. Our kids gave us a great gift and Sullivan's made the night extra pleasurable. read more

Took my husband to dinner here for his birthday. The restaurant was pretty empty which was a little strange. We ordered the calamari which were drenched in the sauce and soggy. The lobster bisque was too thick and so rich that we couldn't finish a cup of it. The steaks that were ordered had to be sent back because they were undercooked and then returned overcooked. Service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Understaffed?? We will definitely not be returning to Sullivan's! read more

The food was good but my husband called ahead to let the staff know that we were celebrating a special anniversary and we were seated pretty much in the middle of the restaurant. My dining experience was ruined by the loud talkers behind me. I noticed many private booths available that we could have been placed in, so I would not recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. They take a while to bring your food but it's really not that good and the prices are crazy high. I ordered one plate with a drink and so did the person that came with me and our total was $110! We've had a few very good meals at Sullivans. Not as busy as Flemings but almost as good of a steak.

Made an electronic reservation requesting nice table for an anniversary celebratory dinner. Upon arrival, taken past at least 20 empty tables to the back corner by the kitchen/bathroom entrance. Expressed disgust, and was table changed to a nice booth. Josh our waiter was very attentive. Manager in training came to chat us up at the end of the meal. I ordered summer special: under cooked previously frozen lobster tail mush, okay 6oz steak, and small unremarkable lump crab cake, side dish was the best creamed spinach I've ever eaten (we have traveled planet earth and eaten that favorite dish everywhere). Hubby ordered 8oz steak med.rare and side broccoli. Okay. But overpriced. Spent @ $250 for two, had our favorite Scotch, and a glass of wine with our meal. The waiter deserved his 20% tip. Neither the food nor reception/seating hostess did. Would not subject anyone I know to similar treatment or food served here. read more

I don't know if it is the food, or the company, or the fact that this is the restaurant we go to when we are celebrating something big( like an anniversary, pay raise, or the fact that we got a baby sitter) , but every time we go here it is special. It was ok. I went as part of a large group event. It was a set menu - The food was good, but it took a really long time to get any food. We placed our orders at 6PM, and we did not get done until almost 9.. It took forever to get our checks for the wine - I wasnt in a rush, so I cant really complain, but I would expect a pre-set menu would be quick service. read more

This is by far the best steakhouse I have ever visited. We went here while on vacation in Tucson. Their bread was freshly baked and had a great cruncy crust and soft middle! We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller - the parmesan cheese made these so delicious! The Long Island Tea Martini- perfect! We had their Caesar salad and both ordered steaks - ribeye and a porterhouse. They were cooked exactly as ordered and were tender and perfectly seasoned. I had Mac & Cheese as a side, my husband the steakhouse grilled mushrooms. They were both excellent. The dining experience was excellent, although a little loud since it was a busy Thursday night. The glass walled room where they keep the wine is a neat feature of the restaurant. The dim lighting was good for a romantic, intimate dinner. This place can be on the more expensive side, but we expected this when we picked the restaurant. For the quality of the food that we ate, it was well worth it. If I had the opportunity, I would definitely return! :) read more

My husband and I were in Tucson for a little getaway, and decided our "nice" dinner would be here at Sullivan's. Neither of us had ever been to one, yet have frequented MANY high end steakhouses. We got there early for our reservation to be able to have a drink in the bar. When we got there, they said they could seat us right away...the dining room didn't look too crowded...but we wanted to enjoy the bar first. There was band playing that was actually really good....so we had a glass of champagne there first. Nothing special...bar was very crowded...lively scene...mostly older (average age 45-60) people....mostly couples. The band was very good...but very loud! We choose from the Price Fixe menu for dinner. It is an amazing deal!! We both ordered the shimp cocktail for our appetizer, the wedge salad for our 2nd course, and the filet medallions with sauted shrimp for our entrée. We got our bread...and then waited and waited. About a 1/2 hour passed and the waitress came up and said they ran out of shrimp cocktail....and did we want another appetizer. So I got the crab cake and husband got the calamari (neither on the price fixe menu). Comp'd obviously. Took another 20mins or so for those to come out. Carb cake was amazing....calamari was cold & rubbery so was sent back. Our wedges came out, perfect. The manager came over to apologize & later the head chef brought us out some shrimp cocktail. Guess they had to "cook" some cocktail shrimp so it took a while. Then our entrée came out...which was amazing as well. Ended up with waaaaaay too much food, and went from starving to full very quickly. While we were really disappointed with them running out of the main and most popular appetizer on the menu, and the bad calamari, but the staff recovered well. We ended up with more food than we needed. We were not charged for our replacement appetizers, but they did not comp anything otherwise for the inconvience and the waiting so long. But that was ok....we were still in a good mood. The food was all very good....just the experience started out not so well. I would recommend it and would personally try it again. I judge a place though on the recovery of the mistakes....as there are always the possibility for mistakes! How do they handle it though? Sullivan's handled it well. Sullivan's is a great steakhouse. First of all, they have live jazz I believe on Thursdays and sometimes on the weekends. A little salon area where you can go relax, have some drinks and listen to live jazz in a very intimate setting. Great ambience here all around. I really like their steaks as they give you very thick cuts instead of long leaner cuts. My kind of meat. Always cooked to perfection as well. My dad came here with me one night and even he enjoyed it. He hates just about everything. read more

Absolutely love this steakhouse! I've been here every year for my birthday for 8 years in a row, sometimes for other occasions as well. They have a prix fix menu for 44 bucks a person, with great options. Their traditional menu options are phenomenal as well. I've always had fantastic service here. The staff is incredibly friendly and go above and beyond every time. Tonight we had Savannah as our server. She was absolutely amazing! Trainwreck is the best way to describe the entire experience. I had to send my steak back twice because medium well is difficult to achieve. The server tried to explain how the Wagyu steak is from a farm in Chicago. If this was an experience at Denny's, I would expect it. Not from a "fine dining" restaurant. Great night out!!! Have been here a couple times, the bar is awesome with live Jazz before and after dinner and great specialty cocktails-Knockout!!! Dining was really good with an impressive wine selection and lots of by the glass options, knowledgable and friendly servers and even a table visit by the manager for no particular reason, friendly, good service. The steaks are great and good quality Seafood and Live Maine Lobster as well as Tails available......great specials too!
