I have no clue why this place has so many low reviews. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the egg sandwich with avocado. It comes on a homemade english muffin with a spicy mayo and is something I always grab morning, noon or night when in O'Hare. The service has always been great and food quality is spot on. Located in Terminal 2 of O'Hare . This place gives illusion of a fancy trendy place to eat. However, the food and service left something to be desired. I sat at the bar because all of the tables were full. The bar was dirty. The bartender didn't rush over to take my order. I ordered the Baja tacos. When they arrived the first time the fish was cold. It was cold like they had taken the fish out of the fridge to reheat and didn't heat it up all the way. When I told the bartender, he said the guacamole made it cold. I looked at home like he was crazy then explained that the fish was cold all the way through. He finally took it back and came back with new ones 10mins later. The fish was over cooked, dry and lacked seasoning. The salsa was really good, so I drowned the tacos in that to give them flavor. The place looks so nice, that's why I gave it an extra star. I was excited to see something Vegan advertised on the menu. I decided to give the Impossible Burger a try at this place. When I asked to make it vegan, they said that they don't have any vegan buns but they have lettuce. I asked what replaces the sauce and cheese, and they said "nothing". I asked the cashier if I could try hummus on the burger and he said I would have to purchase the entire Cauliflower hummus platter for $12. The burger with nothing on it was close to $18. I decided to get mustard on it instead... I was desperate because there were very few vegan options in the airport. I got my food, and had to throw it out midway. It was a terrible burger. It was dry. The lettuce was discolored and bitter. I didn't buy the hummus, but overall I do not recommend this place, especially for vegans. Don't advertise that you can make something Vegan when you really just mean you will strip the burger of everything except the patty, and charge the same astronomical price. If you are in ORD airport, terminal 2, you must make time to eat here. The BEST burger I've ever had in my life! I ordered a BBQ double cheese burger and everything about it is perfect. Perfect amount of sauces on perfectly grilled patty. Mustard, BBQ sauce and pickle are on the sweeter side but together create with a perfect note of tanginess on top of the perfectly grilled medium rare patty. A very cheesy burger and perfectly doused with enough sauce that it does not drip but gives you a perfect satisfaction of quality and quantity. And the fries- super skinny and crunchy. I have never felt sorry throwing fires away before but I did tonight. No more room in my tummy after that delicious burger! I am glad I stopped in tonight! $12.99 is a bargain for this burger!!! read more

I was at Summer House a few weeks ago before a flight. They have a great selection, however, there were a few things that disappointed. We ordered an impossible burger and a salad. Burger was great.. little expensive, but great. The salad, however, looked like it was just thrown in a plastic container. I should have taken a photo, but there wasn't a whole lot of substance. The service and overall experience interacting with the employees was the issue. Everyone was very dismissive. Long waits for food and drink despite not being very busy. The icing on the cake and where I realized that no employees seemed to care about their job or service was they were playing Christmas music - not just one song, but multiple songs on a few occasions. I was there for about 40 minutes and heard 4. Overall, we got 2 food items and 2 cocktails for $60. I would have rather done something else in the airport than experience SH again. read more

Not a bad stop for some food between flights. While they seem to specialize in quantity (double patty burgers are standard), the quality is definitely there. There's a selection of baked goods and a full bar for refreshment. I had the Venice Beach chicken sandwich and can vouch for being a good choice. I Wil they would provide single patty burger options and more than one ketchup in with the fries. They do make up for it by having a USB and normal power bar to recharge your devices on the go. I travel A LOT and this is BY FAR, the BEST restaurant I've eaten in. I'm not just saying the best airport restaurant, I'm saying the best restaurant! The burger was flavorful. The avocado was fresh. The staff was friendly. I HIGHLY recommend Summer House Santa Monica in Terminal 2 in O'Hare. The chef mention that they have another restaurant at 1954 N Halstead, Chicago, IL. Chicken Tacos were excellent (maybe a little small if you're super hungry), the Cali Burger was tasty with fresh tasting meat and plenty of fries, and the West Side Burger was also a good choice. read more

Had the fish tacos on my layover on the first leg of my trip and loved them. Not super filling but just right. Didn't really want to feel stuffed on a plane. Had a 3 hour layover on my way home and was excited to get the tacos again. This time I was extra hungry so I got the west side burger as well. Now that was a good burger! For airport food I'd say the burger was worth the price... tacos are a little expensive for the quantity. I spent my whole layover here watching a movie and eating. The half wall with plants on top made it feel as if I wasn't in the airport. It was a nice change of pace for my very long day of travel. Very solid for airport food -- I felt like I forgot that I was in an airport, so that is definitely a plus. The chicken sandwich wasn't bad either, and the food came out quickly. I have eaten here twice in two weeks when delayed at OHare. Unfortunately it was an hour before close and it was obvious that all the employees cared about was getting out at 9pm. They refused customers, ran out of food, argued about who was going to clean up what... and the worse thing is I witnessed it two weeks in a row. This was very disappointing. When stepped up to restaurant, "Mildred" pointed to the line to wait to place order. While this seemed odd as there were tables and wait staff. I ordered, was handled a buzzer and went to sit down presuming wait staff would come by or deliver food. To my surprise when "Mildred" came over she said that only table dining was to be seated. I let her know that was my intent when she directed me to the waiting line. Unfortunately, I needed to get up and sit at the counter with some fairly rude commentary by Mildred commenting that the restaurant doesn't provide the Hostesses and it was the restaurants problem. Not only was this disappointing to me be should be a concern of the Summer House Management. I travel O'Hare weekly and this happened to be first time stopping in. While the food was actually pretty good, the waitstaff (if consistent with Mildred, is horrible). If this isn't addressed I would skip as weekly travel is difficult enough without needing deal with personnel that are obviously upset with where they work and are put in a position to interact with patrons on a daily basis. My apologies Summer House T2, but I think it important that businesses are aware that their employees are the face to your customers and you be aware that you have one that represents you poorly. read more
