I look forward to coming here when I come to Mohegan, which is usually once a year. Bloody Mary is excellent. If you're like me and like a really briny one, you're in luck because it definitely tastes like they add olive juice. Perfect, simple garnish of lemon, olives and celery. Generous portions of fresh seafood. We especially enjoy the salads with any of the grilled fish options on top. I also really love that you can order from neighboring Sushi Koya here, so I always look forward to freshly prepared sushi or roll as an app here as well. Service is great, and although they didn't have honey mustard during our most recent visit, our waitress brought out a side of a chipotle sauce for us to try instead. The summer shack mini me What can I say about a place that's I've eaten before but never reviewed? Maybe it's because I stuff my face really quick from the delicious food. I've never been disappointed with any of the food I've gotten here. So for the purpose of getting my 488 review in (I know you read them all) let's talk Summer Shack Express. Located at Mohegan Sun (review number whatever) and next to Soupman (also review number whatever) this little food stand produces good seafood. For this round, I decided to get the shrimp po' boy special with fries and a Diet Coke. Don't get me started on the Coke Zero thing. Being part of the food court, they share seating with 5 other stands. There is a person always on standby who empties out the trash and wipes down the tables so seating is never a problem. My number was called about 5 mins after ordering and I was impressed. 6 large pieces of breaded shrimp (yes I counted like I count my nuggets from McD. Also review number whatever), battered fried peppers, a salsa type tomato mixture, and some Sarach Mayo dressing thingy. The bread was soft and vessel the fillings really well. The sandwich was really delicious. I got the crunch of the shrimp and the hint of mexican salsa. Now that tomato mixture should be bottled and sold by itself. We know looks can be deceiving because all the shrimp po' boys I've gotten before used baby shrimp and packed the sandwich here they pack the peppers in and add the shrimp on top so I taught their was more. But really it's enough. Fries were ok. I'm done talking about them. Overall four stars. I'm not giving five to a place that doesn't offer Coke Zero. Or only offers one free refill. Everything tasted amazing but, the price wasn't worth it AT ALL. Extremely over priced meals for four tomatoes on a plate with a plumped piece of cheese in the middle. We ordered an Amaretto and Coconut Mojito, complete trash. These drinks are weaker than a 98 year old man. The mojito didn't even taste like coconut and on top of that, it tasted like a kiddie juice. So the three amigas are out again. We have stopped in for our seafood fix. We started with the ginger chile wings they were lacking some flavor.I got the shrimp scampi linguini it was decent but got better once the server brought over some cheese and salt packets. My husband and I stopped here for something quick and I got the lobster roll. It was listed as "market price" but I didn't think much of it until I got our total. My husband got the fish and chips. I've been to Mohegan so many times and had been wanting to try the shack for a while now. Last night had some time to kill before the Dylan Scott concert so I figured this would be the perfect place to pre game. Initially I was drawn in by all the festive drink mugs and overall chill vibe of their restaurant. Got there around 4pm on a Sunday and their were plenty of open seats at the bar so I posted up and got comfortable. The drink menu is exactly what you would want at a tiki bar. Exotic drinks,margaritas, martinis etc. Started off with a mai tai it was deliciously smooth and went down nice. After that had a scorpion bowl and asked for it in the cutest toucan tall glass. I've had PLENTY of scorpion bowls and hands down that was the best I've ever had. Chai, the bartender definitely knows what he's doing..that man can mix a good drink!!! Chatted with Ben (management I believe) he was super cool, laid back and attentive. Cool guys. Didn't get around to eating there yet but what I saw coming out looked awesome and I'll definitely be back to eat there!!! This was my first time at White's Shack other than the Oyster Bar located downstairs. My One and I went in at my suggestion to grab a bite. What ensued was a seafood feast that began with 24 oysters and gradually snowballed into a full-blown mercury-laden pig out. The Shack is not anything special for vibe. It's really pretty much a utilitarian set up without much décor or theme. We sat in a quieter area adjacent to the crustacean tank and mollusk steamers pots. The waitress was nice and we kicked it off with some white wine for my One and "the usual" for me - a beer. We began with the O's. Twelve Bay Blondes and six Blue Points and six Duxbury, I think. These were served "the usual" way: cocktail sauce, horsey sauce, "marionette" sauce and lemon wedgies. These puppies where fresh AF and "prawly" the best O's ever. Yup, better than places in Boston in the tourist seafood hot spots. Best O's ever and in a casino? Yup. After toasting each other 24 times with these yumski puppies I suggested we kick our mercury levels into the stratosphere by ordering two chicken lobsters and the Krab Special. The Krab Special had a half-pound King Krab and a half-pound Snow Krab and a half-pound "Dungarees" Krab. The lobsters had a good amount of meat for their size. We got mayo and extra drawn butters too. I also kicked it up another notch with a cold sake (pronounced "saw-kay" not "saw-key" FYI). This seafood was "da kine." Totally fresh and cooked to perfection and the Krab Special came as a New England Boil which included "badaydas" and some sort of "snausage" and Korn on the Kob with Old Bay Seasoning on top. We picked every last jot of edible material out of this stuff and we were there for a couple hours and had a blast. White's Shack was great -albeit pricey (240+ bucks) but worth it. We were wicked stuffed. It would be a five-star except for the waitress doing "the usual" -forgetting to bring stuff we requested several times and for the fact that they should pimp out the restaurant décor to make it more festivus. We are celebrating our 22 wedding anniversary here in Norwich CT and decided to go to the Mohegan Sun Casino just to look around and have dinner. The casino is a review in itself, and there are so many choices to choose from inside the casino! It's like a city inside a city. We wanted seafood but nothing too fancy. The Summer Shack checked all the boxes. My wife hade the Fried seafood platter. It came with fish chunks, shrimp, and scallops. She doesn't really like scallops but she ate these. They were cooked well and flavorful. I had the pan seared haddock with mashed potatoes, broccoli and a mushroom garlic sauce. OMG!!! It was amazing! The open atmosphere was nice for those that like to people watch. Now...the only reason I did not give this place a 5 stars is because of the usual...the service. The greeters and seaters were great, but our particular wait staff was lacking to say the least. I think we were in our female servers section but a male server took our order and brought us our drinks. The female servers was waiting on a table in front of us at the time, but she did come by to greet us. As the meal went on we was trying to get someone's attention for napkins and drink refills. We saw the gentleman and he looked at us. I proceeded to ask him for what we needed and he brushed us off and never looked our way again for the rest of the next get. 3.5 STARS On Sunday, April 22nd, needing a break from incessant video poker losing, I met up with my five friends for a late lunch at Jasper White' Summer Shack. Mr. White is a celebrity chef who has written some great cookbooks. The restaurant is one of many restaurants on the second level of the "mall area" of Mohegan Sun. Upon our arrival, the restaurant seated our group immediately. Our nice waiter, who confided that he was in training, took our orders promptly in the relatively empty restaurant. Others opted for apps but I did not since I was previously stuffed at Cracker Barrel earlier that day. I opted for a 1/2 pound Bacon Cheese Burger with a side of fries. While I waited for that, two of my companions enjoyed and commented favorably upon the New England Clam Chowder and the Bermuda Fish & Crab Chowder. My Burger arrived at a perfectly cooked medium rare but it appeared to be more like six ounces than eight (shrinkage?). Nevertheless, it was a solid beefy and minerally burger and the accompanying fries were good too. I enjoyed my burger and fries. Contrary to my order, the burger did not come with bacon. However, the nice waiter rectified that immediately and brought me a dish of bacon. I would have awarded Summer Shack a "4" because I really liked the burger and got good feedback on two chowders.However, three of the group gave me less than enthusiatic "mehs" when I asked for their opinion. The choice of drinks are pretty standards. I wasn't too impressed by the wine. I was more focused on the food. I must say it was amazing. First it was fresh and meaty. I love the buttery taste of amazing lobster. It was meaty, so you got you money's worth. This is one entree that I really don't need much description. Only thing you should get when you order lobster is the meat, amazing buttery that compliments the lemon. I love their fries. It was great. To be honest, I ate the fries before I ate my lobster. I wish I got more because it was that great. We didn't have desert because we were too stuffed from the lobsters.
