Some of the best pancakes I've had at a restaurant. One of my main complaints is that a single glass of milk costed 3 dollars, more than my coffee. Perhaps the worst service I've ever had in a restaurant from greeting to checkout. Dirty bathrooms, cold food, poor service. Example: the waitress (owners wife) didn't even know which food went to which person, we ordered hamburgers which arrived with no relish, no mayo, and cold on a dry bun and not even an onion for $8! Forgot drinks, forgot silverware. Obviously I'm not the only one who's experienced such horrible service at this awful restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant waited 5 minutes till we even greeted. The owner was playing at the cash register didn't even give us eye contact or say hello nothing. someone else had to come up and finally showed us to our seats. Upon checkout, there was no one at the register waited almost 10 minutes. It was new group of 20 more suckers. While waiting for food if you call it that to arrive I went to the bathrooms they were filthy. Obviously this place was way under staff although there was a professional waiter in a different section and he saw that I had complained a few times and he said next time sit in his section he would laugh as the owner's wife was making mistake after mistake. The owners obviously don't listen to the staff nor customers. After I made a few complaints about the service there was no apology or no recompense on the meal itself. This place should be closed down. If you value your family and your health avoid this place like the plague. read more

Such a pleasant experience here. We walked in and there was very minimal people, it was very quiet and calm, even in the kitchen. Staff is very kind and thorough, and we ordered three things: The berry/walnut pancakes (delicious with syrup!) Headed over the mountain pass, we thought breakfast for lunch sounded great! So we picked this place. Although our 8 year old liked her pancakes, the food was pretty dissappointing. My hubby ordered chicke fried steak and eggs. He kept sniffing it after he 'd take a bite. Finally, he stopped eating and said it tasted strange.......sort of like soap. I was craving bacon so it made sense to order a BLT with crispy bacon. Big mistake. My sandwich came with a huge wad of iceberg(the bitter middle section), one tomato slice, and ONE crumbly strip(yes, only one). For $7.99, I would have been better off ordering a side of bacon, toast, and a side salad! I do want to mention that we liked our waitress. She was very friendly. Horrible customer service!!!! I ordered pancakes and waffles. The pancakes were ok but the waffles had a fishy taste. I mentioned this to the waiter and she offered to not charge me for it. Good right ? When I went to pay at the front, the manager started scolding me and he wasn't happy that I had eaten part of the waffles. How else would I have known it tasted bad. I've stopped in here a few times now and had a great experience each time. The staff is friendly, food is delicious and has a great variety. From the times I've dined here, I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner, and would definitely come again any time I am in the area! There's even a bar attached with a pool table for the over 21 crowd. There was a time, long long ago, The Pancake House was actually a good spot to grab some pre-shooshin carbs in the form of delicious corn meal pancakes... Or even a post ski beer at the bar. Sadly, those days are long gone. The food is sub par, the grease in the fryer definitely needs changing and the draft lines I suspect need a complete overhaul as well. That being said, if you read my other reviews you will see that I have never given a place less than a five star review. If I don't like a place, I generally won't review it and I don't like kicking a place when they're down. However, The Pancake House achieved my first ever "one star" review not for its dirty keg lines or its gross food- if it was just that I wouldn't of even taken the time to write this. The Pancake House gets one star for its treatment of its employees. Both my Wife's and my family were in the restaurant business and they always treated their employees like members of family. This is not the case at the Pancake House. Like a injured coyote backed against a wall the management here has opted to take the low road to stay afloat. The owner has taken to treating the hard working immigrant employees like slave labor and keeps them stuck in a "company store" type situation. I just can't overlook this when writing a review. I highly recommend skipping the Pancake House and trying some of the other establishments at The Pass. read more

Went here on MLK day and it was a good experience. We took 93 year old grandma up to the pass for a change of scenery and stopped for a late breakfast. The staff was quite helpful in accommodating a senior with her walker. Large serving of buttermilk pancakes with extra crispy bacon as requested. Good serving of oatmeal with toppings that were asked for with some English muffins. My French toast was good, it came with a berry compote, not my favorite but it's hard to get fresh berries in January. They kept our coffee cups full. Looking at other dishes being served, the portions were American sized. On this holiday there were many families and all seemed to be eating well. Grandma enjoyed the place and the outing. read more

I ate here last week, while on vacation with my family. After reading some of the reviews, I was apprehensive. But when we got there, they displayed a large banner on the front of the building proclaiming new management. Well, I never ate there before the transition, but if previous reviews are to be believed, the new managers really turned it around. We were very pleased overall. We came here starving after a camping trip, to get something to go because we had a pet with us. First, the hostess vanished after we mentioned we wanted a to go order, and we had no idea if we were being helped. Another guy arrived eventually and took our orders. My friend mentioned that she is vegetarian, and would need to order slightly off the menu, to which the host commented "oh, come on, meat is good too". That is completely inappropriate -- it is not your job to comment on a person's personal dietary choices/restrictions. Probably in the winter this place has a captive audience because of snow on the pass and therefore they don't give a crap about customer service. The food was ok. Not fantastic, but not bad either. I was annoyed they put my bacon on top of my waffle, which means I could not share with the aforementioned vegetarian friend. Be very careful on what you are charged!! Our server tried hiding an included 20% gratuity by not giving us an itemized receipt and just telling me the price! Pleasantly surprised! I was expecting sub par tourist food and prices. Not the case. Looks to be family run. Our meals were reasonably priced and decent portion. Ordered a glass of wine, generous pour. My chef salad was delicious, crispy, fresh. Husband loved his large Philly Steak sandwich, fries were crispy on outside soft on inside. This is great place to go after a long hiking or skiing trip, or if you say y'all a lot. The portions are large hearty and cheap. Not really for the gourmet.. But I plowed through a bowl of Chili and 3 ice teas after hiking #snowlake in about 15 minutes. North Bend has some better options, but is about 30 minutes west in zero traffic. First of all, the servers we had were all really nice. Sometimes you had to wait a while to get seated or to get your bill, but otherwise, they were friendly and helpful. The food - bland and pretty much flavorless. Portions were pretty big and my husband and I were able to share our plates. I've always wanted to try this restaurant and I finally did. I really enjoyed their food. We ordered the banana pancakes and crepes which were delicious! I also had their spicy chicken teriyaki and it hit the spot on a cold snowy Christmas Day. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals also. However, I think they should have given us more rice with the teriyaki dishes. :) but that's not going to make me give them a bad review. It was great food! Cons- when they get busy they kind of lose control and forget who still needs to be serviced. We had to go up to the cashier to get our check and I actually watched a family look around for someone to take their order and had to actually get up and find a waiter. Yikes! I had a very positive experience here. The service was really good. The server, he was very nice. They made special accommodations for my dietary food restrictions. We all had breakfast. They made my kids fresh batter for the waffles and pancakes. My daughter loved the banana pancakes, and my other daughter loved her strawberry waffle. I'm doing a ketogenic diet, so I can't have carbs. So I had six ounces of steak and eggs, and they brought me a salad with it since I couldn't have pancakes, hash browns, or toast. We waited over 10 minutes for the waitstaff to attend to us. We watched as she had a 10 minute chat with the a co-worker instead of attending to her tables. It really was not busy with only 5 tables sat and a few of which were already served. When we checked out at the end we were overcharged on all of the items we ordered based on the menus we were given at thw table. My husband did not catch it before he paid so I pointed it out. The wait staff member went to get the manager and instead of crediting us the amount we were overcharged he told us that they were changing the prices and that the waitstaff member should have informed us. Not once we were informed that price were higher than those stated on the menu. I can imagine that they might do a slight increase but they charged us double what the kids' meals were shown to cost on the kid's menu. The chicken fingers and fries were shown to cost $6.99 a piece on the menu we were given. We ordered two and were charged $25.98. Instead of apologizing for the mistake and honoring the difference we were overcharged, the manager proceeded to blame us that we should have checked the menu on the QR code. At no time were we ever told to check the QR code menu. The service was awful, the customer service was awful, the food is nothing to rave about. We have eaten here numerous times when we are in the area but based on this experience we will not be returning. read more

We left before finishing our food because he got sick and he was so upset. $115.00 is way too much to spent for dry overcooked low quality food, Ive had better meals at McDonalds. They really must only get tips by forcing gratuity on the customers. My average tip for our party of 7(2 adults, 5 teens) is 30-50 dollars, but this was completely unacceptable. Id gladly pay more for better quality food and how disappointing the this is the only restaurant and its part of the ski lodge. With so many bad reviews, I was very hesitant to come here. It's possible that my current bias is due to low expectations and backpackers hunger, however, cmon guys, it's a pancake house!
