Well-presented, affordable, not a whole tray, in fact, more than I anticipated. Everything came at or above room temperature. Better than from a fridge, but kind of higher temp than I'd like sushi. The krab salad: delicious except spicy. It had no description online. The eel/cucumber roll: I tried one piece and decided it needed the fridge. Well constructed and exactly as described. The Walla Walla roll: ALMOST amazing. But the tempura shrimp was fried at too low a temp so the entire roll tasted of fry oil. To their credit clean fry oil, but my lips were coated in grease. If it had been fried right and drained, that roll would be delicious. Cut into 4ths was huge slices. Lastly, I didn't expect mustard instead of wasabi. The service was so pleasant that I feel bad giving this place a middling review, however here are my notes based on the "GOLD" experience which is for freshly rolled sushi in addition to full access to the buffet: - because of cleaning chemicals smell wafting through the space, my food tasted like I was eating industrial degreaser and disinfectant - the sushi fish is not prime - every bite seemed slightly mealy and past fresh - there is cell phone based ordering which is brought out by the robot on individual plates - the rolls were stock productions usually slathered with a bottled yuzu sauce -- the flavor is monotonous and feels low-brow - no real wasabi is served, just individual packet industrial wasabi sauce, so low-brow - the nigiri and individual hand rolls rated a 3.5 out of 5, while the chef's rolls were a 2.8 (e.g. Dragon Roll or Rainbow Roll). So on average, a 3. The nigiri pieces and individual hand rolls avoid the mushy, saucy fish-mash filling, which was sadly in all the chef's rolls. - the portion sizes are adequate but the sushi pieces themselves are smaller than at other dedicated sushi restaurants I have been to - the buffet which I tried out in between sushi plates had great vegetable stir fry and salt-n-pepper shrimps! - the buffest is mostly pan Asian noodles and stir fried entrees Don't over buy -- or you will pay for what you cannot eat. I ended up with a stomach ache from eating too much (and not great quality fish either). I should have known that an ALL YOU CAN EAT place would not have premium quality fish. This was our first time visiting this restaurant. I'm glad we did. Super friendly hosts and wait service staff. A great variety of food for a reasonable price. We opted for the basic menu which was only $27 per person for the all we could eat with the exception of a few items listed on the bigger menu which had probably another fourteen specialized items that we didn't want or need. Self serve buffet for salads, soups, beverages, dessert, and a variety of appetizers. Robot delivery of what are some of the foods from the menu, with the sushi rolls coming out by the servers. The robots were fun to watch as they maneuvered around the restaurant. They would stop and allow people or other robots to begin maneuver so there were no collisions! The robots reminded me of a roomba vacuum, just a larger version that tried to mimic a human looking robot with eyes and a voice. When your food was delivered by the robot it announced its arrival at the table. And then it spun around so you could take your food based on a light that was on indicating that it was your tray. I'd like the variety of food. I like the ambience. And I really appreciated the service. The price was decent as well. Considering if you go to a fast food burger joint, you're gonna spend about half of that on a burger, fries, and a drink. At this restaurant, you get a variety of all types of food, tasty, healthy, and all you can eat. You can have up to fifteen dishes at a table. So for 3 people, that would be five dishes at one time. And then every fifteen minutes you can place another order. They have a serious rhythm that works well. I recommend that everyone try this place at least once. I'm glad we tried it. We came to this place for their buffet. At $27 per person, the value was great. They had a wide variety of rolls to choose from and the ingredients were surprisingly fresh for a buffet establishment. They also had some hot food items and a salad bar. Noteworthy hot food items include shrimp and beef ribs. My daughter and I decided to visit because we used to love this restaurant when it first opened, and we were long-time fans of the Tacoma location. We were so excited when one opened closer to us -- it used to be one of our absolute favorites for both the food and the amazing service. Unfortunately, our recent visit was a big letdown. We came in around 2:00 p.m. on a Wednesday when it wasn't busy, yet we waited over five minutes before being greeted or seated. We tried to brush it off, excited to enjoy the sushi we used to love, but things continued to go downhill. The soda had that same "off" taste we've noticed before -- something about it just isn't right -- and the sushi rolls that were once outstanding, like the Sweetheart Roll, were nothing like they used to be (or like the photos show). The flavors and presentation were disappointing, and there was even an unexpected white fish in two of our rolls that shouldn't have been there. To top it off, one of our longtime favorite side dishes, the potato cakes with sweet chili sauce, has been completely removed from the menu. They were also out of noodles one of our favorite options. The bright spots were the avocado salad and the new icy strawberry drink I ordered after giving up on the soda. But overall, the food quality and service have really declined, and it honestly breaks my heart to say that. We used to drive over an hour just to eat here -- that's how much we loved it. I truly hope management reads this and reaches out, because we'd love to see this restaurant return to the high standard it once had. The food that we did receive was good. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour, barely half our submitted order was delivered to our table. The wait staff was understanding and tried to help but I had to speak to the manager on duty to find a resolution. Although the manager did remove part of the order from the final bill, the manager was resistant when I explained our service issues, saying the order was never received on their end. We came hungry and was glad to see there was already a good selection of food that was prepared while we waited for our sushi. There was a cool robot that delivered your food to you. If you're looking for Japanese food and don't mind paying a bit extra, this is a good place to go! Edit: Second visit went really well, came only with parents and sister this time.
