Prefacing this review by saying I am not Nigerian, but I have friends who are and have been very curious to try Nigerian cuisine. Another side note.. I don't do spicy food. I'm a wuss! Having said that, I was really excited to try this. What I wasn't expecting was for it to be small and styled like a cafeteria. This is located in a small strip mall. There was parking, since we came in on a Wednesday. I think that the bulk of their orders are placed online or over the phone and picked up because we were the only ones dining here. Onto what we tried- a little bit of everything! Egusi soup with fufu, jollof rice, coconut rice, goat, mixed meat and chicken. The food was tasty but dry. I'm not sure if it was because it sat for a bit. I thought that it would be prepared at order, but it was already ready and under heat lamps. My favorite was probably the goat; my least favored was probably the egusi soup. The staff were friendly, and the portions were decently sized for the price.

We had been looking for a place to try some Nigerian food and were glad we were able to find a place close to where we are in OC! WHAT WE ORDERED Egusi soup with chicken Okro soup with mixed meat Jollof rice with fish Coconut rice with goat FOOD I don't really have a point of comparison, but everything was delicious! The egusi soup was very well seasoned and one of my favorites of our meal, but as an okra lover I have to say the okro soup was my favorite. The rices were also super flavorful. I do wish the mixed meats were more tender, but that along with the chicken were okay. I really enjoyed the fish and was a huge fan of the goat - not too gamey. SERVICE We had an amazing experience with their service. They asked if it was our first time and they gave us great recommendations, especially when it came to serving size. They came back to check on us to see how we liked it, and were so friendly and welcoming. VIBES Family restaurant type of vibe, nothing fancy, but a good amount of seating to share a meal with friends. They play good music too. BOTTOM LINE Pretty good experience - I'd come back to try more of their menu!

The lady that is either the owner or chef is a rude non welcoming nasty person, I'm sorry to say but I have never encountered a restaurant like this. So unacceptable, drove from Orange city to deal with this rude non welcoming nasty common sense only person running the restaurant when I arrived with ZERO customer and couldn't answer an honest clear answer about the food on the menu

Food: 5/5 From the poundad yam, cow leg meat, and mixed meat so wonderfully good. The yam was perfectly soft, the leg meat was huge and spicy. Finally the mixed meat had a nice variation and perfectly spicy. Service: 4/5 Quick and attentive. Ambiance: 2/5 Table, chairs, food. Straight to the point.

Finally tried Nigerian food. I ordered fufu and Egusi with chicken. It was very flavorful and the yam was so soft it melted in your mouth. It was a tad on the greasy side. The meat was so tender!

Was craving something i've never tried before and decided to give this place a try! I got the fufu combo with chicken egusi soup. My dad got the beef egusi soup. We were approached with welcoming and kind service. My dad can't do spice and they perfectly accommodated him. The food came with great quantity and quality! I'd love to try the rest of the food on the menu eventually!

Sooooooo about lunch... you know how you're writing something and too many calls are coming in--…read moreyou get sidetracked -so I really meant to write this sooner (no lies here), but when I tell you the service was 10/10, you've got to come visit. My sister and I visited this past --our walnut salad was fresh, the Riesling hit perfectly, and the calamari came out with that golden crunch to die for. But our server... all we could say was Steve, Steve, Steve!!!! He took the cake! Talk about impeccable service and making you feel genuinely welcomed--that's an understatement. This was my second time here, and I've gotta say, I think this has officially become one of my all-time favorites. Downtown Long Beach has always had such a fun, foodie-filled atmosphere. I know some restaurants are struggling, but it's because they didn't have the same atmosphere & service. The food is great, but what really stands out to me are the PEOPLE. Even the servers who weren't serving our table intentionally, smiled, and said hello as they passed. I even remembered one of the servers from my last visit and her sister because they both have some of the most inviting personalities ever. That says a lot about the culture of a restaurant. We also had the opportunity to meet the new GM, which was another nice touch. Great food. Great ambience. GREAT people. And Steve,,,you're the best! 10/10. We'll definitely be back. Oh and to little sisters-- remember that big sister's rule.

A New Job, A New Milestone & A Chance to Rewrite the Narrative…read more My best friend and I have a tradition of celebrating new jobs with a nice dinner. Since this was her new job and a major milestone, I let her choose the restaurant. She had visited Bo-Beau last year but didn't get the full experience, so this was her chance to rewrite the narrative. And it was truly night and day. I researched the restaurant beforehand and was excited to see that Bo-Beau is part of the Cohn Restaurant Group, which I mostly associate with San Diego and South Orange County. After this experience, I really hope they're here to stay. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating her new job, and for once, the restaurant actually read the note and acknowledged it. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was excellent. The hostess welcomed us downstairs, another staff member greeted us when we reached the rooftop, and our server quickly followed up. Then came the surprise: complimentary champagne for both of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially because those little celebratory touches seem to be increasingly rare. Our server was also patient with our questions and attentive throughout the evening without being intrusive. We spent about 2.5 hours enjoying dinner and catching up over: Baked Brie Brussels Sprouts Steak Frites Everything was flavorful, and the entire experience felt relaxed, peaceful, and worth the price point. The food was great, but the hospitality is what earned the 5 stars for me. Real hospitality is paying attention to the guest, recognizing the occasion, and making people feel genuinely welcomed. My best friend got the celebration she wanted -- and a much better Bo-Beau experience this time around. Will definitely be returning!

Also the Mahi Mahi and grilled shrimp plate with rice. Absolutely delicious. And the dungeness crab. Yum! Also if you want a hammer for the crab, it's a $2 deposit. They refund you after you return it. Obviously had to get the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Absolutely worth it. All of this cost $130. Mostly cuz of the crab at 29.99/lb. Went on Sunday for a quick brunch. Ordered grilled halibut plate, wife ordered fish and scallops, topped it off with a clam chowder and two sodas. Total came out to be around 65$. Fish was just grilled with a ton of oil on the same griddle as everything else, seasoning consists of old bay and that is it. Bland, old bay seasoning. Fish and chip was bland, no flavor. Clam chowder had minimal clams and mainly thick soup base. So unless you think those YouTubers are coming there to say nice things, edit the video, and then post it so they can make content money.
