I have a dog and I love the outdoors. In order for me to validate the above statement, I obviously own an older model Subaru. I went in last weekend to have my car looked at since I was having a coolant leak after replacing my radiator. I was told the cooling system needed to be purged of air because that was causing it to run too hot which in turn was making my overfill tank live up to its name and overfill, spewing out coolant. I left my car with them overnight, the next day they reassured me that the system had been purged, and Patrick the tech even told me they had also filled my car with more coolant. I went to pick up the car and like a church-goer at Mass, I gladly handed money over to Sun Auto in the false hope that I'd be spared from eternal hell and damnation. I woke up the next morning with a newly found confidence in my car, since I thought my coolant problems were over. I drove the car for a bit, and I saw that the temperature gauge started to rise to alarming levels. I parked, let the car cool, and took advantage of my free time by walking to the nearby Capriotti's, there I enjoyed a tasty Veggie Turkey Sandwich. Now I can end this review here and make it seem like thanks to Sun Auto I had a nice lunch, but they had nothing to do with that sandwich and I honestly don't know why I mentioned it. Once I had inhaled my sandwich I went back to my car and checked the radiator cap since it seemed strange to me that the car would overheat so much so quickly. When I opened the radiator cap, absolutely nothing came out of it and there really weren't any visible remnants of radiator fluid, the whole thing seemed bone dry. I went into the hatch of my car, dug past all the old dog hair and outdoor equipment that is common to a dog having, outdoor loving Subaru owner, and grabbed 2 gallons of water. I was able to fill my radiator with 1 1/2 gallons of water, which prompted me to write this review. It seems like the techs at Sun Auto accidentally let all the radiator fluid out of my car, or they purposely drained it all out for me to have a more expensive repair on my hands. I would like to think the former is true because my faith in humanity hasn't been shattered just yet...give it a year. It's important to note that between me getting my car back from them and the overheating/tasty Capriotti's Veggie Turkey incident, I had been checking the floor for any visible leaks with none in sight. For just a small fragment of time I was thrilled that my coolant loss had been completely fixed. Turns out a coolant leak can't happen if there is no coolant to leak in the first place. Very sound logic that Sun Auto seems to live by. I'm glad this whole thing didn't lead to catastrophic failure but it very well could have, and I would have had to cough up quite a bit more to get my head gaskets replaced. My car is okay now, and my friends still think I have a dog and love the outdoors. It is also important to note that by "friends" I mean my dog. read more

Hands down the most honest service shop. I have a warranty with car max and my transmission has been funky ever since I got the darn car. It's only 3 years old (18 months I've had it) and it's never running correctly. I called carmax and of course they wanted to charge me $200 just to see it and the wait was two weeks to get an appointment. What da heck?! So I asked if I could get a rental til then and they said no, not til they say somethings wrong with it. Soooo, let me get this straight.. I'm supposed to drive a car that keeps dying on me while driving with two small kids in 110 degree weather.. wow. Sorry, getting to the point... so the warranty people recommend this place and I call. The gentleman on the phone was completely sweet, understanding and got me in the next day. I left my car there at 8am and when I picked it up he said it is skipping but not enough for the warranty to replace it and for now to be careful.. it may also just be bad gasoline. I knew that they looked at it so I had to pay the $80 inspection fee (as states on my warranty) and he was sweet and told me no they were waiving it since nothing was technically wrong. From start to finish I cannot explain how easy, simple, sweet and efficient they were. I will always go to them first with my business. read more

I've been going to this auto shop for a little over a year and used to highly recommend it to anyone who needs a good mechanic. Unfortunately, this has now changed. This goes out to the ladies. Please be careful of the shop they think they can rip you off because you're a female and that you don't know "cars". I went in to get my oil changed today and they wanted me to pay before they even did the work which they've never done in the past. Along with that wanted to charge me over $100. I have never paid more than 75 with tax included at the most, they told me that the price of oil has gone up so the price of the oil change has gone up as well. That is a 33% increase in a four month period which if you do the math does not make sense! When I told them, I've never spent this much with them before they were very cold and dismissed me instantly. So please be careful when you're going to the shop (or just don't go at all honestly) and double check on prices because they enjoy ripping you off. I took my car elsewhere and paid the correct amount. read more

I drive a 2009 Nissan Altima w/ 149k miles. I've taken good care of it but things break down over time... I came to my local auto body shop (zip zap auto) where they wanted to charge me 3000 to fix all motor mounts and an oil cooler change out. I came to Sun Auto for a second opinion and am so happy that I did... they were able to do the work for nearly a thousand dollars less. Upon getting my car back Nick (service manager) walked me through the repairs and answered some of my last minute questions. Jimmi (store manager) was the one who helped me out from the word go, he helped to diagnose the issue and even found something zip zap auto missed. After going to Sun Auto for years, their service has changed for the worse. I have been going here for years to get my oil changed and brought my car in because the AC was blowing warm air while my car wasn't moving. After looking at my car, they stated that I had 3 leaks in my AC system and that 2 hoses and my compressor needed to be replaced to alleviate the issue. They quoted me $1000+ for this job. Knowing this didn't sound right, I refused the service and they retaliated with harsh comments and an attitude because I wanted to look for a second opinion. Upon taking my car elsewhere, it was discovered that my AC system had NO LEAKS and that I was just low on freon which only cost me $100. I will sadly be taking my business elsewhere as Sun Auto has shown that they can no longer provide me with honest work. It is disappointing to see that they try to take advantage of those who they believe don't know about cars and try to scam them into paying 10x the price for services they don't need. If you're looking for honest mechanics, please look elsewhere. read more

This place is very expensive with their auto repair service. I went in to fix my O2 sensor and get an oil change, and they charged me $680.00. They took $60.00 off because I have a coupon, but it was still expensive. With the cost of living and inflation so high, it is very hard to try to justify what to spend our hard earning money to. I checked other auto shop close to me and they were all lower than Sun Auto. What really makes me sad was the attitude of the salesman that helped me. He was very in compassionate and unsympathetic with the whole deal. Knowingly that I'm spending so much money to this service, I thought he'll be more sympathized with me. I'm very disturbed with his action. If it was me on the other side, I would have been so supportive and apologizing and Thankful for spending her hard earned money and have to deal with her car. Just a little compassion would probably make me feel comfortable at the moment and it will take it a long way. read more

They offered me an appointment but I declined because i needed it to get done ASAP so I just went down the street. Kind of off putting to turn away customers.. Thank you so much Sun Auto Service! I appreciate everything you did for my 2009 Nissan Versa. I went to the Nissan dealership and they stated that there were so many problems with my car wanted to charge me over $2300 for "maintenance" and to fix the latch of my trunk. My boyfriend had dropped it off to Sun Auto Service and Darren said they would do a full diagnostic run. They didn't find anything wrong with my car other than a tune up, plus the latch to my trunk all under $700. And they found nothing wrong with my car. I really appreciate what they did. They're expensive but they get the job done. They're the same price or more than the dealership bc they offer no discounts. More places offer 10% while you spend in the hundreds. We paid over $2k and they didn't offer a discount or wouldn't knock off the diagnostic fee. Labor is $155/hr and not sure about parts of the price is fair or not. read more

Their price for an oil change is unbeatable and they always do a full inspection to make sure everything else in my truck is working properly. Once when I brought my car in for an oil change they found a bolt was missing on my suspension and that my tire could've popped out at any moment. They fixed the bolt, saved me from a potential disastrous accident and didn't charge me anything. It's great having mechanics you can trust! read more

Fast and didn't charge me for a quick diagnosis. HOWEVER, their diagnosis was wrong. I told him that I thought that one of my wheelbearings was going, and they told me no that it was a transmission. Sent me a coupon for 19.95 oil change. I called, discussed my vehicle type, and was told no problem so I made appt. showed up today and surprise; they wouldn't honor coupon. Wanted $90 more, so even if they made an error on oil type or quantity...they weren't even honoring labor portion of coupon. Classic bait and switch-buyer beware! Your reply ignores the fact that your employee, after being provided the make and model of the vehicle, said the coupon could be used. Then, you told me all customers are told that because "we don't have time to look up every vehicle, " and actually said I should have known. BTW...the place was empty while I was there. Refusing to provide a comparable discount, along with your canned response and dismissive attitude tells me you know the practice is inappropriate and unethical, but simply don't care. I beg to differ. I pulled over and called a tow truck , which I was 30 min outside of vegas. You said I had to supply oil change receipts to th ed warrent people but wasn't called till after he left and denied it. No one started the car but you guys . So I paid for a starter that you broke. When you called you said there was gunk in the oil pan but my oil gauge and said I had oil all levels were good. So my review it more then fair. I was driving back from Duck Creek UT and stop in St George UT. I opened up my trunk and couldn't get it to close. I went to Auto Zone and pick up some straps. I wasn't happy about the way I could only close the truck half way. I search on my phone and found a Mercedes Dealership a mile away. I went to the dealership and see if they could fix my trunk. I had to wait about hour for them to take a look. The service manager came back and said they wouldn't be able to get the part until tomorrow. I ask him how much it would to repair my trunk, He quote over 400.00. Well, I wasn't going to stay overnight in St. George. So I went back and jerry rig the straps, jump in my car and drove back home. I was driving by Sun Auto service and looked up their reviews on Yelp and Google. I turned around and went back. I met a very nice Service Manager, Patrick who understood my problem. He then called around to see when he could get the part. Patrick told me it would be tomorrow and quoted me a price for the part and labor. I saved over 200.00. Patrick told me he would call when the part came in. I only live ten minutes away from the shop. Patrick called the next morning to tell me the part came in and come down anytime. I drove down right away and they had it fixed in 30 minutes. After I got a Check Engine warning for my Toyota RAV4, I was going to take it to the dealer, but then I thought about the big bucks a dealer wants to charge and the unnecessary stuff they typically try to sell you. I decided to call Sun Auto instead. JD said to bring it in right away. He and I discussed the problem, and about 30 min. later the problem was solved. We found a broken wire on one of the engine sensors, and they clipped it back together at NO CHARGE. I'm pretty sure the dealer would have never done the quick, simple fix, and I am extremely grateful for JD's honesty and help. I will use Sun and JD for all my future auto service! read more

They advertise 15% discount to veterans. The best I could get was 10% on parks. Don't advertise it if you don't give it I asked Chris what I had to do in order to get the 15% veterans. He said just tell him I was a vet and he'd give me 10% off parts. I asked if he wanted to see my DL which has veteran on it. He said no I'd get the 10% off parts. I just let it go. read more

I have a 2008 Saturn Astra with 90,000 miles and paid off. I have kept it in good condition so it will last. Sadly, many Saturn parts are no longer available, and that is a problem. Thank goodness for the honest and professional service at Sun Auto. I was having an oil change and diagnostic check done for approximately $240.00. After 2-1/2 hours, the manager told me the problem was the throttle/pedal, which was no longer available. So I will drive the car as long as I can before I need to make some purchase decisions. But the best part of this is the manager did not charge me for the $210 diagnostic check because he couldn't fix my problem. He only charged for the oil change. That was the kindest gesture I have seen in a long time. So if you need car repairs, visit the professionals at Sun Auto on St. Rose. read more

Worst experience ever. They're not accountable for causing more problems that they created. Told me their manager Michael would call me and never called. Avoid this place unless you want to get tricked. No one is on the same page. Make sure when you are told or promised something to record it and if possible have it written.
