Went to Sun Smog for the first time today and was greeted with the most friendly and helpful tech...and a bottle of water! I didn't get his name but I'm assuming he's the only one that works there. He not only got started on my smog inspection right away but he also checked my tire pressure, complimentary. I left in a hurry and forgot my daughter's sippy cup there, 15 mins later I get a call from him letting me know and that he will hold onto it for me...any other shop would've just thrown it away! I don't expect much from a smog check as you would think they would all be the same but I received the best service ever here. Guy was very helpful and quick. He also found my engine was was low coolant and topped it off for me (he's test only so not like he was selling anything, just being friendly and helpful). This place has always been my go-to for smog checks when I need to renew my registration. The wait is never long and the man who runs it is extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgable - always asks if I would like a bottle of water. This little shop was recommended to me by a friend who's as careful about Covid as I am. It's just a little hole-in-the-wall, blink and you'll miss it, but very well run by the nice man who's presumably the owner. I arrived early for my appointment and he took me right away. This is by far THE FRIENDLIEST smog test station I've ever been to. I just had my old truck smogged here today, and because it has an antiquated/obsolete computer-controlled "feedback carburetor," it's kind of a pain to smog. But Phong was nothing but smiles the whole time, and--as other reviewers have noted--is exceptionally good spirited all around. I can't tell you how many rude, ornery, and downright dishonest smog techs I've encountered over the years, particularly when it comes to smogging an older vehicle. I took my 2003 Honda Accord in for a smog test earlier today and worked with - who I believe - is the owner Phong. The experience was welcoming and fast. I made an appointment a couple days ago and arrived on time. Phong was ready for me and the whole test lasted less than 15 minutes. During that time, he cleaned the leaves from my car, filled my tires with air, and showed me that my car battery was corroding and what to do to fix it. Combined with his great disposition, this was $40 well spent. Take your car to Phong for your smog test, he's great. read more

I never thought I would say this, but this place might have the best customer service out of anywhere I've been to period. The owner was friendly, courteous, and provided fast service. I repeat, fast service. The shop is slightly hidden and is attached to a limousine company. When I first pulled in, I was greeted with a smile. I usually get my smog checks done in the Peninsula (since it's closer to home), but since I was having brunch in Santa Clara, I decided to get my smog check done there (for those having brunch at Bill's cafe, it's right down the street). I found Sun Smog Test on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The whole process was quick and easy (took no more than 15 minutes). The owner was very nice and helpful. I have come here several times in the past two years to smog a variety of cars. Every single time is a 5 star experience! The gentleman who runs this place is so very nice. He always offers a comfy place to sit and a bottle of water. He doesn't do any paperwork until he checks the OBD scan, and always gives a discount. The place right by my house (who always take forever and are super busy) could not do a smog check for my car. He said his computer was broken. So I took a drive minutes down on Bascom and found this place, a tad bit hidden but not hard to find. The moment I get there the guy was nothing but helpful. After I sat down he partially closed the door so there was no sun and I was shaded, then he offered me a fan to keep cool (it was a hot day). Not only that, he went as far as grabbing a bottle of water out of the fridge and offering me for free. His customer service was excellent, then he proceeded and performed the smog check for my car, even checked my tire pressure and put air in my tires at no extra charge (a $5 dollar value), and on top of all of that, he gave me a $10 dollar discount for no reason!!! He finished very quickly then let me know I needed some coolant in my car. I paid 48 dollars exactly. Amazing experience. Super happy and will recommend this place to everybody! read more

The owner was extremely nice and friendly. I called 30 minutes before closing to see if he had any availability and he gave me a price quote and told me to come right in. He offered me a seat and free water which I really appreciated when I arrived. Prices are very reasonable and competitive for my 2003 Lexus ES 330 and there was no wait. In addition he cleaned up the debris from under my hood and gave me advise on how to clean my battery due to corrosion. I had a great experience. Everything mentioned in other reviews is spot-on. When I arrived, there were two cars ahead of me. One car was older so it looked like the technician had to do a bunch of other things to it. I waited around 15 minutes for my turn. He offered me a bottle of water. Once it was my turn, it took about 5 minutes to complete the smog check. He checked my fluids and the pressure of my tires. The price was really nice. read more
