Here they really make sure that you have a good experience and get things taken care of while you wait. I had a very unique situation, an old Econoline 300 Box Truck 88', and it was a mess. Not only was it a difficult truck to smog, but it didn't have much space to get it in and out of most smog places. Because it was a commercial truck, it needed to go to a Star Certified place. Great experience! I had to get a last-minute smog test for my car and luckily found Sun Smog while I was getting some other work done on Bascom Avenue. Phong was very welcoming and professional as he offered to look up to see whether I even needed a smog check first before performing the test which was very proactive and useful. Very satisfied! I paid $55 for a smog check. The smog check portion took ~15 minutes, but the owner took some additional time to look over my car and let me know my coolant was almost running empty! He told me what to buy and where to get it, and gently chided that I could risk ruining my radiator. Disclaimer: My wife was the actual customer, but she came home so pleased with the service that while I was already on Yelp writing other reviews, she asked me to post this one for her (the details are all hers). Phon (technician) was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. In addition to the smog check, he took the extra step to clean out all the leaves that had accumulated under the hood. He also checked the pressure in the tires and pointed out that the battery terminals were full of corrosion and recommended how to fix it. When it came time to leave, he took the time to move the car around so that my wife could drive straight out, instead of having to back out. There was no wait and the service was completed promptly. After I got there, the actual work took 15 minutes only, just like what I'd read on another Yelp review (yeah, I timed it just to see). My advice: look no further. This is the place to go! Truly amazing. This guy is great. There's honestly no other way to put this other than that. All the reviews praising him are 100% accurate. I was trying to find a place to do a last min smog so I could finally get my registration sent in the mail and was constantly turned down due to being too busy ..but.. I think that was a blessing in disguise because I won't be going to any other place besides here! I gave him a call on the way and asked if he was busy and he said to go ahead and come over. I pulled over down the street (it's on a main road) and walked on over. The garage was open, he was sitting there alone and I told him I had just called on the phone about a smog. He took my keys and pulled the car in for me, and told me to take a seat inside the garage while he did his work. The process in total took about 15 min at most. He put gloves on to move my car, wore a mask, and was overall just a joy to be around. When he was finished he moved my car back out onto the street for me which I appreciate SO MUCH because it can be a busy street and I hate backing up in traffic. The rumors are also true!!! He cleaned the leaves out of my hood and checked all my tires for tire pressure. It was really the cherry on top. I will recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

Best smog check ever! The guy was really nice, it's hard to find good nice smog check person. You know that movie Vacation, part 1, with Chevy Chase in the 80's and his car needed fixing and those 2 guys that were mechanics took all his money and one of them was the Sheriff, normally when I get smog checks it's those kind of guys, scary, but at this place the guy is really super nice. been going here for the last few years and for good reason. first and foremost, the owner and only employee from what i've seen, is very attentive to your needs as a person. he'll offer you a seat as well as a free bottle of water which is awesome and completely unnecessary, but greatly appreciated. i mean sure you can go to other spots and they'll have seating and possibly free coffee, but do the employees wait on you like you're at a restaurant? probably not, but here it's different. again, it's nothing big or a deal changer, but those type of things don't go unnoticed in my book. anyway, on to the smog check. in and out in about 5 min and reasonably priced. need i say more? couple this with what i mentioned above and you're seriously telling me you wouldn't go here and bring this man some legitimate business he deserves? if you haven't noticed i highly, highly, highly recommend this spot. smog.... Went to Sun Smog for the first time today and was greeted with the most friendly and helpful tech...and a bottle of water! I didn't get his name but I'm assuming he's the only one that works there. He not only got started on my smog inspection right away but he also checked my tire pressure, complimentary. I left in a hurry and forgot my daughter's sippy cup there, 15 mins later I get a call from him letting me know and that he will hold onto it for me...any other shop would've just thrown it away! I don't expect much from a smog check as you would think they would all be the same but I received the best service ever here. Guy was very helpful and quick. He also found my engine was was low coolant and topped it off for me (he's test only so not like he was selling anything, just being friendly and helpful).
