On June 25th, 2021, I bought a 2021 Toyota Corolla for my daughter out in Denver Colorado. When I first went into to the dealership, my very first question was whether there would be any problem with buying the car here and getting it registered in Colorado. The finance manager assured me that they do this all of the time, and that it would be no problem whatsoever to do so --- their computer system had all of the information about taxes, fees, and registration costs for any location in the United States. So I bought the car, and the nightmare began. I started calling to find out the status of the registration process, and no one at the dealership would take my calls and no one would return my messages. Meanwhile, I drove the car out to my daughter in Colorado on a Florida temporary tag that was supposed to work until we she got the Colorado plates. On and on it went, first one thing and then the other --- they didn't do the sales paperwork correctly, so I had to drive back up to the dealership to redo that. And then there were problems with the credit union paperwork that they didn't do correctly, and we had to redo that. And then there were more problems with the credit union paperwork that they didn't do correctly, and we had to redo it again. Over and over and we still didn't have the car registered yet. And now, more than three months later, the car STILL isn't registered. I've bought about fifteen cars and trucks over the years, including a truck from Sun Toyota. and I have never had an experience so completely awful. No one from the dealership has followed up with me, and I'm left wondering if this is nightmare is ever going to be over. read more

I took our Sprinter Van in for an oil change and tire rotation last Tuesday. It took about 2 hours. I got the van back home and was looking and realized the tires had not been rotated. The Wranglers were still on the front and the Pathfinders on the back. I went to check my bill. Yep, I'd been charged for the tire rotation. I called them back and talked with the service director. He checked their video and confirmed they had not done a rotation. I knew that. He scheduled the tire rotation for today and said they'd get it done quickly for me. I've now been sitting here for over 2 hours waiting for this quick tire rotation. Their service dept is not good. read more

"BEWARE OF SUN-TOYOTA FLORIDA" Lemon car sold here I purchased a 2020 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 on 2/20/2024 with a 62,580 milage. The dealership claimed a thorough inspection and all services, repairs has been done. Fake sticker pasted. Deals was signed and I experienced my first disappointment leaving the dealership. Tire sensor light turned on and immediately brought it back and found out one tire was bad. They fixed it to cover their shame, I came all the way from Nashville for this deal because I thought this was a trusted business and the salesman got me. The car came with a lifetime warranty and I was lured to also buy an extended factory warp warranty which manager Informed for any breakdown it will be covered. After 2 weeks, brake light came up, went to check and facility informed it's already on 3mm and they were surprised I just got this car, both front and rear brakes, I was again disappointed because the dealership claimed all was inspected and everything needed to be serviced and changed was done. Getting my carfax login that same week I found out that the car brakes was overdue on carfax. I sent all this to dealership, nothing was done, no response, I got tired and repaired for $2,325. After one month of purchase my worst nightmare started, had a breakdown with a check engine light, car misfiring and vibrating. I went to Benz for repair and the advisor was overwhelmed that I just got this car a month ago because after diagnostics they found out that there was a slash on the engine cylinder which is not something new. The total for this repair was $10,309 and claim filed with the warranty, after 33 days of my car in repair shop they only approved $7,200 and I had to balance the rest. I thought all this troubles are over, 4 weeks after repair, another breakdown with check engine light and this time around it's a engine failure and needs to be changed. car has been in the repair facility since June 13 till now the dealership and warranty is not willing to assist. This is a lemon car and I need this fixed, replaced or refunded. read more

Traded my 2018 camry in for a 2022 camry, a month and a half later they called me to tell me the loan never went through. This is after they sold my trade in. They then said they will need the 2022 camry back. They then put me in a 2024 corolla, weeks later they call to tell me I was supposed to put a $ 1000 dollars down payment. No one ever told me a down payment would be required for this transaction. Especially since the first car was a zero down deal. So now they are saying if I don't pay this down payment they will need the car back. This will leave me without a car, which will cause me to lose my job because I commute 1 hr away to work. I talked to someone recently who had this exact situation happen to them. I'm curious to know if they do this often. Regardless I'm soon to be without a car. Don't purchase from Here. If I could give this dealership a 0 stars I would. I bought a car with sun toyota may 28th after financing my salesperson Matt told me that there was dents to the car which was surprising because I don't remember any dents to that car. Was told the car is going to be fixed in 2 days. 2 days passed no call or emails letting me know a status about the car when I have been also calling and Matt would not give me a status. On the 4th day I received a text message from him saying the car is ready I'm like surprised because he does not answer any of my calls or send me a text that it would be ready today. I got there and he tells me where your license plate and I'm like what do you mean I reminded you to move my license plate to the new car. He said I'll check it's prob on the back he took over 30 min checking and he never removed my license plate. I was so pissed off already that I was about to explode already he printed out a temporary plate until mine arrives back from where they took the car. I go see the car and the dents were never fixed that's when I got so annoyed with this salesperson as he did not inspect the car before giving it to me. He told me to bring it back the next day and they would get it fixed I was like fine. I come the next day come to find out he never booked the appt and I needed to bring to collision center not the dealership I told the service person he never told me that he just told me to bring it back here. Told me to call my salesperson Matt to come out here and I did he never answered his phone and that's when I escalated to the service manager Jose he told me he was gonna take care of it and I showed him proof of the text messages with him of what I was promised. The manager Jose from the service dept told me he was gonna give me a call Monday since the collision center was closed Sunday. Monday comes no call Tuesday comes I send him a text because I wanted my proof and say I have not heard from you regarding the car any status he says please reach out to Matt he is taking care of it and I wrote him back not sure why when you told me that you were gonna take care of it but fine. I reach out to Matt he tells me he took the car to the collision center to get it fixed. They took over 1 week or more to fix the car and either way that did not fix it completely like they said only a couple things. He texts me the car is ready I inspect it and i see still a couple scratches and no license plate. I was already pissed by not seeing my license plate because they need it to do some paperwork regarding the plate tog et it back and I was like that paperwork needed to be done the day you found out that you didn't have the license plate. Today June 21st still no license plate and my temporary plate is about to expired. This dealership has wasted my time so much that is unforgivable. They do not care about you after you buy the car. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP GO somewhere else and I do not recommend Matt and he clearly does not care about anyone after you buy a car. read more

Can't tell you what an amazing experience, I was actually dreading going after reading some reviews on Yelp, but they had the car I wanted so I went. So glad I did, my sales guy, Tyler C, absolute pleasure to work with! I live over an hour away and he did all the leg work for me including my trade (sent him pics and vin), so when I arrived the car was there, clean and ready for me to drive. He worked hard to get the numbers that I wanted. I appreciate his work ethic, his attention to details, and his customer service is A+. I'm writing this review to summarize the extremely negative experience I had with Sun Toyota. I first contacted the dealership on Tuesday 07/30/24 and spoke with Nicole. I advised her I was interested in the 2024 Toyota 4 Runner TRD Premium. Nicole advised me that they are unable to discuss prices over the phone, which I could kind of understand. I did unlock the special VIP price on the website showing the vehicle priced at 47,250. Nicole told me that in the fine print it states you can only qualify for this price if you have met 3 requirements. A. You are a previous Sun Toyota customer B. You have a trade in with at least a 15,000 value. C. You use Toyota's in house financing. I was a little disappointed about that but didn't think about it too much right at that time. I live 2 hours away from Sun Toyota and Nicole wanted me to come down right then to look at the vehicle. My time is valuable, and I explained to her that due to my husband and I both working shift work there was no way I could make it that same day. Nicole then began pushing me to come in on Wednesday 7/31 the next day. I explained to her that my husband possibly could take 1/2 that Tuesday night off so we could come down Wednesday. It was at this time that Nicole made the statement "if I know you are coming, I could hold the keys for you". I really didn't like the idea of driving two hours and not being able to get the vehicle so I texted her later that night to let her know we would be there the next day and to please hold the keys as she had offered to. Later that night I thought it would be a good idea to review some of the website's disclaimers before we went down. I decided to look at the disclaimer regarding the VIP price that Nicole said I would not qualify for. Nowhere on that disclaimer does it say anything about being a previous customer or having a trade in valued at 15,000. However, the disclaimer did note that you would be required to use in-house financing for this deal. At this time, it was too late to contact Nicole and question her about this, so I decided to wait until the next day. So, the next day we headed down to Sun Toyota and about 1 hour into the trip I got a call from Nicole. I questioned her about the disclaimer and brought it to her attention that it does not list the requirements she gave me. Nicole looked at the site herself and could not explain to me why it did not list all the required qualifications she had given me. She stated she would need to contact her GM and she would get back to me because she did not want me to think she was a liar. I never heard back from Nicole after this. We arrived at Sun Toyota 1 hour later to be informed the vehicle was just sold, Nicole would not even come out to speak with us. I explained to salesperson Kirsten, and a guy with red hair that Nicole had told me she would hold the keys for me. The two of them disappeared for about 15 minutes to speak with Nicole. When they came back the guy with the red hair said that it is against their policy to tell people they will hold the keys on any vehicle, and Nicole told him she did not tell me that. At this point, the guy with the red hair then started to sell me on another vehicle. We left and drove an additional two hours to Toyota of Orlando where I bought an identical vehicle and did not experience any of the untruths or manipulations that I had at Sun Toyota. I would have understood if Nicole had told me they could not hold the keys up front. They are in the business of selling cars and I could see them not wanting to turn a sale away. The fact that she herself offered to hold the keys and then tried to make me out to be the liar was the most disgusting part of this to me. Also no one ever explained the false requirements she gave me in relation to the disclaimer on VIP pricing. I have had no less than 5 different salespeople try to call me after the fact to get me back in the doors of Sun Toyota. There was one guy Tyler Bernard that continued to text me and email me even after I instructed him not to. I contacted the manager on duty finally on 8/1 to stop Tyler from contacting me. I do believe Tyler was intentionally trying to antagonize me about the experience I had with Sun Toyota. My husband and I are well qualified borrowers and have purchased many vehicles over the years. I have never had an experience like the one we had at Sun Toyota. The whole thing left me feeling disgusted and manipulated. I have never left a review like this one anywhere before but felt like it was necessary given the level of service I experienced in this situation. read more

We had alot done so we were there for some time but James kept us in the loop as to when the job would be finished. Plus, Sun has the nicest waiting options for us. Multiple places to sit to watch TV or sit at a table or computer area to use your electronics. Free coffee and a self pay cafe to get snacks and food. All this was done the same day ,& the following day the new car was delivered and all paperwork completed ---This is a professional company and its people are great to work with. The more I think about the madder I get. I felt pressured and ripped off by the sales team. They display the window stickers on their cars and make you think that is what the cars value is, and it was when it wasn't 8 years old with 90,000 miles on it so now it's worth between 16k and 17k not the 27k on window sticker or the 24k they suckered me out of. Then we get to the finance department. They want to weasel more out of me for extended warranty and gap insurance. I really did want the gap insurance but could not afford the extra payment. They should have gave that to me as much as they ripped me off. They didn't even fill the gas tank. Just because you can take advantage doesn't mean you should. Never again! read more

I must say, I am very upset with myself for not writing this review sooner. Last September 2022, I had to return a vehicle to the Hertz location in there. Hertz was so rude to me and they wanted the car there early due to hurricane Irma. Otherwise I would be responsible for it. Hertz said they would give me a ride home and Needless to say, I was not happy as they were to give me a ride home. I will not get into that part now. Then the gentleman Ben Miles who is a salesman for Sun Toyota came out as he heard me, I had been awake for 30 hours by then and only working on 8 hours of sleep in 4 days time. Driving over 3000 miles and since Ben heard me he said if you would like we can give you a ride home. He took me back to service a and another gentleman I believe the service manager John Lafemina talked to me, calmed me down (Which is usually not an easy task) they did. Bought our 2023 Venza here. No service after the sale! Made appt for service and explained that we had another appointment after this service and was promised an in and out appt. After making the hour trek to dealership we were told that it would be at least 1.5 hrs wait just to have it pulled in the door. This would have made us late for our next appointment. We were also told it's always this way and that our appt was booked by someone in a "call center" and they wouldn't know. Way to treat your customers Sun Toyota! read more

Negative 10k! Buyer beware! Fact: They verbally stated one interest rate, then when they presented me with the purchase contract, they changed it up 4 points! They changed it back four points down when I addressed it with them. Needless to say, I did not ratify the purchase agreement. Other times, they said they did this many-point inspection on my car, I knowingly had zero fluid in the windshield wiper reservoir, Mr. Egomaniac said that the fluid was checked and full. Another time, one mechanic on the highway showed me a printout of my battery, he said it would be dead within three months. I took it here, they had a printout that said it was satisfactory. So I am stuck with a sub par battery on a hybrid. KEEP YOUR DOCUMENTS if you buy warranty. Needless to say I will drive FAR away and never buy another car from SUN !!! read more

Vehicle listed for $37k, only to get a sale sheet for $59k!!! Yep. Marked a used vehicle up to full MSRP, "discounted" then added $3400 Sun Protection Package, $500 in fees, and another $1200 in "pre delivery charges". This is criminal. Save your time and avoid these clowns like the plague. Can only imagine how well they support their "lifetime warranty" with this sort of general behavior. AVOID!!!!!!! read more

My husband and I came in to purchase an Atlas. Being as it would be my car, my husband left the talking and deciding to me. However, after the salesman spoke to me like I was ignorant, seemingly because I'm a woman, my husband spoke up. We were both previously in sales and were prepared with over 20% down. We weren't asking for an extravagant deal by any means. I don't usually write reviews but I'm putting this here as a reminder that this is no longer the 50s and a lot of women are well aware of how to handle themselves in this industry. I purchase a 2022 Rav4 about a year ago and the car is not performing right because I have to jump my car every day after 6 months that I had the car. I took it back to the dealership twice for the same thing and the second time they replace the battery. For the last two months I been jumping my Rav 4 with the same problem. The car has only 7500 on it and jumping it every morning is getting to be a pain in the bud. Do not purchase a 2022 or a 2019 Rav 4 if you value your time. I had a 2019 also and had the same problem and when I purchase the 2022 I under the impression that the issue was fix due to all the complaints they have receive. I will not buy another car from Sun Toyota because they do not know why I have to jump my car every day. I am a 20 plus year veteran and I want to tell all my fellow veteran not to purchase a car from Sun if they value their time. read more

I recently went to Sun Toyota to see what kind of a deal i could make on a trade for my vehicle. After test driving we sat down to put together a deal. I was very surprised by the figures that Sun Toyota came up with. They took a vehicle with a MSRP or window sticker price of $35,059.00 and inflated it to $39,727.00. They added $3,470 for what they call Sun Protection Plan which is another name for a extended warrant. The plan has a lot of bells and whistles if thats what you want but if not they won't let you option out. Now on top of that they charge a Predelivery Service Charge or what is commonly called a dealer fee of $1,198.00. Now they take that inflated price and may take off a few thousand for this or that and minus your trade plus the normal fees and taxes. I left there with a bad taste and will never go back again. Also i was supposed to get a $25 gift card for test driving a car, that was never offered before I left. A few days later I contacted the salesman and asked him about the reward and he said he would email me the information to to receive the reward but that never happened. If they need the money that bad they can keep it. I am so thankful that there are other Toyota dealers that will only charge for options that you are willing to pay for. I purchased that same vehicle elsewhere and I'm so happy I did. read more

We bought a 2022 Toyota Tacoma and had a pretty bad experience. My husband and I were about to walk out because they needed the sale really bad and kept pushing this truck like it was the top of the line... which it's not. Anyways those trucks sell for around 35,000, and they had us starting at 70,000 when they showed us the initial paper. Anyways we get it down to a more reasonable price. I told them I just wanted to be on the loan, and they said no problem. Well at the time they didn't ask me for paystubs to confirm what I made. So when it came down to, all the banks were declining me because of the debt to income ratio. So they kept bouncing around to different banks and credit unions to find one that would accept me. I was unaware of this. They couldn't take it back because they technically were the ones that screwed up and let me walk out with the truck. So come to find out I had 9 hard inquiries on my credit report that I'm now suffering from. I wouldn't recommend them, they will rip you off and they're eager for a quick sale. I've bought two vehicles there before and will never be back. read more

If you have to fight about the price quoted to you in an email or over the phone; if you have to fight over extended warranties that they insist you need, or they tell you they are included at no cost, but were at cost; if you find that the wrong VIN was documented on the paperwork; if you find that not all of your paperwork has your signatures and initials, yet you drove off with the new vehicle; if you find that they harasses you with phone calls and text messages, then show up to your home for signatures; if you find that finance charges are compounded daily from the date of purchase, yet was told you have 90 days till first payment is due; and if you find (as a 3X combat veteran) that all of this has landed you into the hospital during Veteran's Day weekend....this is not an isolated incident. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. Why I said that is this. Their reply to this and all of the 1and 2 star(s) reviews will be, and I quote..."we're sorry if we've disappointed you. We appreciate your detailed feedback and will share it with our team. If there's any way we can try again to meet your needs, please send us an email." And as you can read in one of the reviews, the reviewer sent an email reply that yield no results, therefore, I'm not going to follow suit. Called Sun Toyota Dealership in Holiday,Fl on March 5,24. Inquired about a Mazda MX5 out the door price and was misled by Sales Associate. Test drove the car but kept asking for the out the door price and was always ignored, finally presented with the quote with questionable charges and no one was able to explain the purpose of the extra charges. Manager intervened and wasn't able to explain. The frustration was evident and he turned sarcastic and disrespectful towards me. I declined the offer and left the dealership. On the next day morning hours Sales associate called me offering to have a better deal, he insisted to go back in order to sign the contract and file a credit application electronically which I did. Arrived at dealer and presented with documents to sign, it happens that it was the same situation with unexplainable fees, no answer on financing rate at all. I then questioned everything again and informed him that I couldn't sign documents in blank with the financial rate and other information missing, that resulted in an unexpected reaction from salesman of me "messing around with his family " since he stayed late at work because of me. I previously said to him when he called that I can stop by next day but he insisted since he'll be off next day and needed to close the deal. He loose his composure and raised his voice stating how mad he was yelling how I messed with his family time. I told him that this situation was just business and nothing was personal at all in which he continued with aggressive behavior prompting me to leave as soon possible in fear of Physical escalation. I have never encountered such situation in my life and I'm a Retired and Combat Disabled USMarine. read more

My husband & I had inquired about a Tacoma and a 4Runner. While getting the numbers together, we saw a $2900 for a protection package on EACH vehicle. We let them know that we did not want or need the package and asked them to remove it from the quote. we were told that the package was mandatory and that every Toyota dealership has the same policy. We obviously did not do business with sun Toyota. Take your business elsewhere, like Wesley Chapel Toyota, where they 100% do not have a mandatory protection package, we got exactly what we wanted for the prices we wanted. read more

About $5k in hidden fees over advertised price. I have been shopping all across central florida with almost a dozen dealers, and it was the most unprofessional, condescending, and rude sales team I dealt with. (Mind you I only spoke to two women, so hopefully the other staff is better.) I recommend taking the time to go to any other Toyota dealership. Staff needs some training on how to speak to customers. At the end of our conversation of me inquiring about the hidden fees, I told her thanks for the info and wished her a good week. I had my rear brakes done here just short of $1000 and they squealed for three months for a few minutes after the car was in park. I brought the car back and they did a full diagnostic and told me that's normal, especially in cold weather, or that the car had to be driven more. I replied that I had already driven over two hundred miles. They replied that everything looked okay and to drive it a bit more as it could just be the weather. The sound never stopped and so I just did the brakes myself. It cost me $25 and a little time. Never will I bring my car here again for work. It's my fault for not doing the job myself. read more
