The Sunfish special is the best! Halibut kabob with red peppers and onions. Always cooked to perfection, and generous portions. My family has been frequenting Sunfish since its Fauntleroy days. However, despite that, my experience with the owner is always hit or miss. His brother, who's only been working there for a couple years now, if that, is always pleasant. Clearly, it hasn't stopped me from returning, but you'd think he would be a little friendlier with his patrons. Still counts for something. read more

Excellent fried seafood for a reasonable (relative to everywhere else) price. CASH ONLY. Their vinegars were amazing and I will be stealing their recipes for home: malt vinegar, sport peppers, garlic and black pepper. There was a mild version less the the sport peppers as well. Excellent but rich chowder, great fried halibut and fresh fries. Fried oysters were super fresh. The calamari (they spell it with a 'k') was a tiny tough but good. Being a lifetime WS resident (8 decades), having great Fish n Chips available on Alki is taken for granted. In my young years the only FnC available was the city's best. As the years went by and new generations continued, the quality of that establishment diminished. I'd long given up on WS for FnC until my wife and I accidently discovered The Sunfish about a dozen years ago. Memories from my childhood flooded back! Once again WS has the best FnC anywhere in the city hands down! We've come to know the Greek bothers like family. Their menu goes far beyond just Fish n Chips. They offer a Salmon Combo Kabob that my wive would die for. She also loves their Calamari, selections of their fish and Oysters. Their Chowder is just this side of heaven. The bothers take time out in the winter to visit their mom who still lives in Greece and we are always anxious and happy to get them back. Their mom must be very proud of them. read more

This place isn't perfect, the guys can be kind of grumpy (once you get to know them they're actually very nice), and it's a bit expensive. But the food is great. I love the calamari and the oysters especially and my family loves the halibut. The seafood is fresh and has a nice, light batter. Wash it down with a cold lemonade. Spud seems to get by on its history and reputation - I thought it was terrible. Duke's is more upscale and you should be ready for a long wait. Sunfish has them both beat by a mile. read more

This is my favorite Fish&Chips place on Alki beach when it comes to flavor. The shop has the charming atmosphere of a family business and the owners are very friendly. My favorite dish there are the fried scallops, they are simply the best fried scallops I had so far. They do offer better quality in exchange for slightly higher prices. Why do I only give them four stars ? At least the times I have been there, they only accepted cash. I understand why businesses do this, but for me as a customer it is a major inconvenience. read more

We love this place. Best fish and chips in Seattle. Especially west Seattle, much better than Spud's. They are so family friendly, and everything in the menu is homemade and delicious. Beading and fry on the fish is the best. Our daughter loves the halibut. And the owners are just the nicest. Fyi they are cash only, and close over Christmas for about a month. Melt-in-your-mouth halibut kebobs, grilled to perfection shrimp kebobs and not-skimpy with-the-clams clam chowder. This fast-food looking joint towards the end (or is it the beginning) of Alki beach is one of my all-time favorites in Seattle. No thrills type place, but consistently delivering top notch seafood, and well prices at that. Only takes cash, and the older (Greek) dude behind the counter is not attempting to be your best friend, or even be overly hospitable, but who cares?! Bottom line: Great "boardwalk" seafood place just off Alki beach - not too greasy, and very tasty!!! Doesn't get much better in my book. read more

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat. I've always gone to Spuds for my fish and chips fix when I'm at the beach at Alki, but the Sunfish has won me over. Delicious! I normally find fish and chips to be a fried soggy mess. These are delicious! The halibut is cooked just right, the breading is light and crispy and nothing about it is greasy. The tartar sauce is also really good- not too mayonnaise-y - and a little bit of something extra that I can't put my finger on that makes it delicious. We also enjoyed the prawns. I stopped here the other day after a long and exhausting bike ride from belltown to alki, in need of some tasty refreshment. The kalamari was amazing and went really well with their delicious fresh tarter sauce. I really like the breading and it wasnt greasy at all. Plus, anywhere that I can sit outside and enjoy the sun gets points by me. The service and staff definitely disappointed though. Didnt make eye contact, mumbled under their breath, and pretty lousy at communicating. Minus one star for you, grumpy greek guy at the register. read more

I'm hoping they are having an off day. The service here is great. The two men behind the counter are funny, informative and welcoming. The food, however, is highly lacking in flavor. I ordered the cod 2 piece, and both the fries and fish came out bland. The friend were not seasoned or crispy. The fish was overcooked and dry. For a second I thought that I was eating poorly cooked chicken. I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. Their vinegar blends are awesome. This is without a doubt the best fish and chips on Alki. Don't bother with the Spud, it has a name recognition and reputation based on how good they must have been 30 years ago. this place is so gross i went there and saw one of the chefs pick a booger and continue to prepare the food with out washing his hands needless to say i have not eaten there sense i did eat there before but i was never really a fan expensive for the small pieces of fish you get and well in my opinion not as good as spuds but that's just my opinion but the booger really just grossed me out for good read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would, in my opinion Sunfish has is under rated and is a hidden gem on Alki. The owner is awesome, friendly and polite. My gf and I always order the fried oysters and calamari and it never fails to hit the spot! For how much you're paying you're definitely getting your moneys worth in quality and quantity!
