Came on by a Saturday morning around 10:30am no wait got seated as soon as the hostess approached us. Very friendly service food came out within 10-15 min from ordering. We went with chicken fried steak so yummy hashbrowns were crispy and soft in the inner layer. Egg quality is amazing and cooked well. Vanilla Iced coffee is yummy however not very sweet if you like a sweeter latte. The biscuit wasn't really to my liking next time I would get some toast instead(: definitely will be returning to try other plates. Music is within normal levels to be able to chat as you eat breakfast and there's plenty of tables to be seated. Areas are clean and well kept.

We were surprised by the quality of the food and the execution by the kitchen staff. Our waitress was also super pleasant and you could tell enjoyed her job. After running a marathon, my hunger was so intense, I could've eaten a horse--or at least a breakfast burrito the size of one. Then, like a beacon of hope on my social media feed, I found this breakfast place. Spoiler alert: it didn't disappoint! The food was so good, it made my taste buds do a happy dance. I didn't snap a pic of the pancakes, but let me tell you, they were the real MVP of the meal. They were so fluffy, I almost asked if they had a personal trainer. The service was friendly, but our server had the memory of a goldfish. She forgot our order, our drinks, and probably her own name at one point. But hey, at least she was consistent! The place was small, so small that I could hear every conversation. It was like being in a breakfast soap opera. "Did you hear about Karen's new cat?" "I can't believe Bob ordered the avocado toast again!" It was all very entertaining.

Sunny Side Cafe in Seal Beach was a whole Sunday morning vibe. We came around 10 a.m. on a Sunday with my son, and I already had an inkling the food was going to be good because the dining room was full of multiple generations. That's always the sign. The wait was about 15 minutes and parking was easy, which is a weekend miracle. While we waited, I watched them use a machine that fresh-squeezes oranges right there. I didn't order the orange juice, but it definitely set the tone. Inside, it was bustling with people coming in and out, but the vibes were still super chill. They had an old-school music playlist that felt perfect for all ages, like everybody could enjoy it. Also, each table had a fresh sunflower, which is such a simple, cute touch. Now let's talk food. My son got the Mini Mooncakes with chocolate chips, and I tried a bite and whew... they slapped. Slightly crisp on the edges, soft and fluffy in the middle, with semi-sweet chocolate chips and buttery goodness. I ordered the All-American with the Load Hash, and it was exactly what I wanted: thick strips of bacon, and eggs that were clearly fresh because the yolks were that bright, rich yellow. The sourdough with their in-house strawberry jam was the perfect little sweet moment on the side. And the Load Hash? Was it a little salty? Yes. Did that stop me from demolishing the whole plate? Not even a little. Best breakfast I've had out in a while. You can tell they care about details and quality. Five out of five. No notes.

Did my first dine in here as I work in the area. The parking lot was full. I ordered the half sandwich and soup and it also came with an AMAZING side salad. The soup was tomato bisque. Delicious, but just a tad too salty for me. I took my half sandwich to go. My friend ordered the Popeye omelet with home fries. The coffee was piping hot and delicious. (just the way I like it) and our server promptly did refills twice in the short time we were there. The prices are reasonable, the staff is pleasant and friendly and the restaurant is SUPER clean and new with plenty of parking. My friend took the key lime pie to go, but ended up eating it there. He said it was good. A "four" for level of tartness. Today was definitely a better experience than the last time I did a "to go" here. I'll be back!

I was in the area and with a quick search (on yelp of course. I found this place) I came on a Saturday around 11 am. They do have a very large parking lot. When we walked in it was packed! But we did get seated right away. The hostess was extremely sweet. We walked past the bakery items in the glass case and asked our hostess about it. And she was kind enough to tell us all about the items. They are known for their cinnamon rolls and key lime pie While walking to our table they have walls COVERED In drawling from all the kids that come in. I thought this was a sweet homey touch. It feels like your local brunch place PS- this place does close at 3 PM everyday Our waiter, Luis took care of. There was some little misunderstandings with our order. But I can't stress how PACKED this place is. Every table was taken. So it's bound to happen here and there Now, to our food We ordered the blueberry pancakes The morning bird sandwich We ordered French fries, loaded potatoes and guacamole for sides For dessert- their famous cinnamon roll, carrot cake and maple donut Even though it was packed and every table taken, our food came out in a timely manner. Our glasses kept getting refilled Service was friendly, but they definitely need more workers for how packed it gets. We did have a couple wrong orders and etc. but again it was packed We did NOT ask to speak to the manager. However, our waiter sent her over. Someone came over and took care of the issue (Valerie is one of the managers) TEN STARS FOR VALERIE!! She was extremely professional about everything. I'd really love to come back to try some of their lunch sandwiches. And huge points for being locally owned and operated They have patio seating (also says dogs welcome) They have private parking Really great homemade baked goods Good prices Good portions I can tell a lot of locals come here, so that's a great sign Wait staff was friendly Despite it being PACKED the food came out fast And I can't praise Valerie enough (the manager who came over and was so professional about the couple things that went wrong) I would 100000 perfect come back

YUMMY BREKKIE SPOT IN SEAL BEACH, CA!!! We visit Seal Beach often in the last few years, for Volleyball tourneys at the local sports center, but we are always in such a hurry to get outta here after gameplay is done, that we don't typically explore the local food scene. With an early finish today we had the chance to sample what Sunny Side Cafe has to offer... finally! Easy walk from the AIM Sports Complex with yelp directions on point. We showed up 40 minutes before closing and did not get any 'tude upon entering, A friendly smile greeted us and made us feel like they were happy we walked in! Great start! Our waiter, Costa, was a cool bloke! Attentive and everything done with a friendly smile. We were eating with time constraints and he made it all work out! Let's EAT! AVOCADO TOAST: Probably one of THEE BEST Avo Toasts I've sampled in THE USA! The Campari Tomato, Feta cheese, chili flakes, poached egg, chopped bacon on Sourdough synergize really well! The avocado has that fresh green hue to it, flavorful and chunky, and a generous serving as well! YUM! STRAWBERRY NUTELLA WAFFLE: The waffle is perfect! Crisp on the outside, yet soft and fluffy inside. Nutella drizzle is ample enough that every bite had that yummy Nutella flavor. Strawberries were fresh. Also added was a graham cracker crumble that added a nice texture to the dish! Delish! CHICKEN FRIED STEAK: Steak is prepared IN HOUSE and does not come pre-made in a box! Yay! Pretty good sized serving with a breading that has a flavorful crunch to it. And that Sausage gravy... LOVED IT! Over Medium eggs were spot on, with just the right runny-ness. The hash browns had a lovely golden brown hue that shows the cook has skilz!! Breakfast heaven right there! I definitely enjoyed it! VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! For a rare rainy day in California, Sunny Side Cafe shines bright as brunch spot in Seal Beach! We will not hesitate to come back, whenever the chance arises! Yummy stuff! Came here after dropping off some documents to a friend's place. The pancakes were a bit chewy for my mom and for me as well. We needed more syrup but forgot to ask when taking it to go. The eggs were alright. Nothing to write home about. The bacon was a little hard and chewy too. I was able to finish my breakfast in almost its entirety. But my mom had to take her pancakes to go. The place has ample seating and two TV's on the side we were at. They also have a room in the back and they have outdoor seating as well for those that have pets. It was a pricey breakfast but these are the times.

Stumbled upon sunny side cafe off the great Yelp reviews and they weren't wrong ! Easy parking, located in a shopping center. They took an old dennys and made it into a cute modern diner. They have a glass case with house made pastries that looked delicious. Also espresso and other coffee options like lattes and matcha. We all got the pancake breakfast and it did not disappoint. Pancake was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside and so so delicious. I got the fresh OJ which was nice and tangy and fresh squeezed. It was hard to choose what to eat as they have many options from American breakfast to chilaquiles and Benedict's. Also lunch items looked very good so will be back to try more.

Classic diner food in Seal Beach. It has a cool retro feel inside with plenty of seating. They have a decent size menu with something for everyone. I got their chorizo omelet and it was pretty good, tasted fresh and the eggs were nice and fluffy. The service was good as well.

What a way to wrap up a huge 5-mile walk--by immediately undoing all that effort with an equally huge brunch at Sunnyside Café. I went with the girls for our first visit, and we're already planning our next "walk," which is really just an excuse to come back and eat again. The patio is adorable, enclosed, and cozy for the cooler winter days. It has that perfect hidden café vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. There were three of us, and naturally we each ordered something different so we could taste-test everything. The Eggs Benedict came smothered in super tasty hollandaise sauce. The breakfast burrito was absolutely massive, definitely big enough for two people to share, and the salsa on the side was really flavorful. I chose the breakfast sandwich, which was huge and delicious with a fluffy egg, melted cheese, moderately crispy bacon, and a slight hint of chipotle mayo that really hit the spot. On the way out, I could not resist the bakery items. Apparently they are known for their Key lime pie, and I can see why. I ended up taking home an entire pie--not just a slice--because after tasting it, I realized it was one of the best Key lime pies I've ever had. I also grabbed one of their carrot cakes, which was right up there with some of the better ones I've tasted. The breakfast prices are nicely affordable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Bring your appetite because they don't hold back. Parking is easy enough since it's in a lot shared with a small strip mall, but don't drive too fast or you might pass it up. Looking forward to another long walk so I can "afford" to eat here again! :)

We sat on the patio with our dog, and it felt like an extension of the inside. It was secluded, shaded, and really nice. The space was clean and aesthetic, and the food was great. My party (6) went on Easter Sunday, expecting it to be very crowded for brunch. It started to get rather busy about 30 mins in but you would have never known. The service was amazing and they really made you feel like you were the priority at all times. Anything we asked for was instantly brought out with great hospitality. Our server was Joanne and she was so attentive to every need we had, she always had a smile on her face, and moved rather quickly the entire visit. She made such an impression that, everyone at the table said they would return in a heartbeat. I recommend the Golden State steak sandwich and the Breakfast chilaquiles...... When you go to sunny side cafe you MUST try the cinnamon roll! Best i have ever had!! Not only is the cream cheese frosting light, fluffy and flavorful but the rest is covered in creamy cinnamon butter!! DELICIOUS!! Another must try is the french toast! It is so good!! It is made with brown sugar that gives it a unique taste and not overly sweet!! Hubby had the breakfast burrito and said it was so good and was packed with tons of cheese, eggs, potatoes and chorizo! Highly recommend this cafe in Seal Beach. It is bright, clean, and the service is very friendly. The food is very good (especially the baked goods). They even have an espresso machine. For me it's all the small details that make this a 5-star review: fresh sunflowers on the tables, cloth napkins, sugar cubes instead of packets, etc. Even if none of that matters to you this place is certainly worth a try! read more

The ambiance was very cold today. We were barely acknowledged and took sometime before a waiter came to take our order. No "hellos" spoke to the manager and her express was one of I don't care say what you have to say and leave. No I'm sorry. Very good food; attentive staff; clean and cheerful interior. The food is made with fresh ingredients and is very tasty. The plates are not loaded down with food. Well-portioned. That is a benefit for me, because I tend to eat everything on my plate, even if I should have stopped eating 10 bites ago. The price is a little above average for your typical cafe / diner, but reference the above paragraph concerning food quality. In my two visits, I had the Eggs Benedict and the Breakfast Burrito. The Eggs Benedict were great. Nice amount of ham and not drowned in Hollandaise sauce. Dark, rich color to egg yolks. Delicious, The Breakfast burrito is no thrills. Cut in half and served with a side of salsa. But it is not all about looks. It tastes great. I will be coming back. read more

Horrible service. We were waiting for 15 mins at the table. No one came to take our drinks or food order. Don't come here if you are not white! They will not service you! Believe me they served other white people before us. We walked out the restaurant. We told someone we didn't get served and all she had to say was "it's our first weekend open". Bitch please! It seems like a nice clean place, very busy, portions are on the larger size. Service was okay, not great, but it was busy. I had some coffee I hadn't finished, asked my waiter for a "to go" cup, he brought it back without topping it off , I should have asked him to warm it up, I I really didn't want more coffee but it have been nice to add some just to warm it up. My breakfast tab came to $30 including tax & tip, so it's not inexpensive. As I stated, portions were on the large size, bacon served with mine wasn't that great, not one of the thick cut applewood smoked ,just average. I'll probably try it again, will order a la carte next time. read more

Sunny Side Cafe is a new restaurant in Seal Beach, at the former Denny's location. My friend and I had lunch there yesterday. We both ordered the BLTA sandwich. But we should have shared one, as the portions were large. The sandwich was delicious. They use high-quality, super fresh ingredients. We loved their (lightly-battered) french fries, too. Sunny Side Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, and is open 7am to 3pm daily. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Owners on premises. Remodeled interior is modern and bright. Prices are higher than you'd find in traditional diner, but definitely worth the difference. read more

RUDY is a bonus to this place-the epitome of service-greets and welcomes every guest when they enter, table service and consistent checking up on his guests. I tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago and it was delicious! my family and I arrived shortly before 9am on a Saturday and got seated immediately as soon as we arrived. A few of the food items/dishes I would recommend are the following: - Chocolate chip pancakes: some of the best I have ever had! (& they don't skimp on the butter!) - Mediterranean eggs: a healthy delicious option! - Sunrise breakfast burrito: very good and served with a tasty salsa - Cinnamon roll: MUST HAVE - Chocolate chip cookies: MUST HAVE - Coffee, expresso, lattes are all great. They have an above average expresso bar! Other items I have not tried but have great things about include: avocado toast, tuna melt & eggs benedict! It seems like this place not only serves a great breakfast, but also an amazing lunch! I look forward to going back and trying more items on their menu. read more

I enjoyed it both times I was there. The chocolate chip pancakes were awesome. Bacon and Sausage were both tasty. I thought the hash browns were too salty. Orange juice was very good and cold...fresh squeezed. Eggs benedict was very good too. It was a clean place and a bit warm at the bar seating close to the cooking. Not a homey environment and sort of sterile. Service was good...very friendly staff and lots of workers hussling about to serve you. I will be back. read more

The dining area was clean and contemporary. The serving staff was very polite and attentive. My waiter was patient and able to answer all of my questions about the menu items. The breakfast menu had a good variety to choose from. The prices, in my opinion, were reasonable based upon operating costs for a small business. I had the Avocado Toast. This alone provided me an ample amount of food, forcing me to take my extra side of loaded hash browns home to be eaten later. I thought the food was delicious. So, this was my first of many visits to come... The first thing you notice when you come in is that the place is very clean! They use cloth napkins and the silverware is nice too. Each table had a small vase and with a flower in it and the tables were spotless... The food was fresh and delicious. The french toast was the best I've had in a restaurant.. Really! It does take a little longer than most places to get your food, but worth the wait...I'm betting thats why the french toast was so good (made when ordered) Staff was great and the coffee is not they typical Framers Bros' commercial blend its something thats a step up from that...it was good coffee. Now, it's a wee bit more expensive then some places but the quality and cleanliness is there so, a wee bit more cost is justified in my opinion. All in all, great food and service... We LOVE this place. Every time we are in the Solana Beach area we must stop here for breakfast. They have the best food. We ordered French Toast, Omelette, Eggs and Acai bowls. Whoever is in the kitchen can do it all and do it all very well! On another note the attention to detail on the interior design and building is really impressive. Well we tried a new place, Sunnyside Cafe. The service was kind of slow. I had the Tomato Basil soup, it was very bland; it was as if they heated tomato juice and added a fine chiffonade of basil and called it tomato basil soup. Someone on a Wednesday should go to Norms, or even Polly's pies, for really good Tomato Basil soup. I also had a very unfluffy omelet, it was very flat; but scorched evenly on both sides. My wife had some yougert, the fruit they added was fine, but that was sbout all. The wait staff, didn't care much about the table, a manager I think did most of the cleaning of the table. This time I thought I would eat it later so I declined. Well, of course once I got the cookies in my mitts I had to have a bite or two. Initially, I was completely disappointed, and thought this can't be right. I was going to ask the friendly staff if they could warm it up, but that seemed weird since I had already broken off a couple of bites. Took my ube home, quick 15 second warm up and it was back to perfection. Rookie mistake on my part and I won't do it again. While I was in the store I nearly ended up buying a load of cute items, that I thought I absolutely must have. Showed some restraint, but I can't guarantee I will be able to again.

On my second visit I stopped in on a morning for a matcha latte and ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was flaky and had a good balance of ham and cheese. They warm them up and it was the perfect temperature. The matcha latte was very disappointing, though. I didn't end up finishing it and threw most of it out. It was bright green, but had no real matcha flavor to speak of. Instead it tasted overwhelmingingly of vanilla. So much so that as it cooled it reminded me of drinking melted vanilla ice cream. I don't know if they use vanilla syrup by default as their sweetner, because I didn't ask for it, but if so it's an odd choice to make without telling people. Overall, a bit of a mixed bag.

The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. Same for most of baked goods along back wall, including cookies and bread. Their baguettes seemed fresh but lacked enough crunch that I like. PB also has prepackaged meals - sandwiches and wraps. Starting at $9, I'm not taking a risk buying potentially a mediocre meal given my dissatisfaction with the pastries. They have fancy sweets like Dubai Chocolate Mochi Donuts, and Orange Cronut. Raspberry Nutella Round Croissant. You've seen them, shaped like wheels. Mine tasted a day old. The raspberry filling was too sweet and thick. (Artificial) Crab Cake - Big with good crunch but tasted much better the first time I had it. Mixed with veggies. Almond croissant- An example of deceptively good appearance. While flaky, it didn't taste buttery or light and airy. And the almond filling just tasted sweet. No trace of almond. The space is big and pretty cozy. Tables outsides on both sides of the business. Kudos for having both customer and pick up parking spaces. I'm willing to give them one more try. My sweet tooth wants to think they sell a few good items.

It was a pretty good value for the size of the sundae though. The shop is very small, which is fine because there is plenty of seating in the Orange plaza. Just be aware that there isn't any dedicated seating.

I visited Sunny Side on Sunday with my friend. It was during the air show weekend, and let me tell you, it was packed to the brim! However, our experience had a little twist: our food took a very long while to arrive due to some complications in the kitchen. I'm not sure if it is a staffing issue or maybe just an influx of tourists due to the air show. Now, I know what you might be thinking--long waits can be a recipe for frustration, but with the service and food we got let me assure you that this was not the case for us! The shining stars of our visit were undoubtedly Janelle and Kosta. These two wonderful souls were managing like pros, handling hundreds of eager customers with such grace and poise. I could see how busy they were, but not once did they let it affect their cheerful demeanor. They kept us updated about our order, offered great suggestions from the menu, and genuinely made us feel welcomed, even amid the chaos. I also have to mention Katrina, the owner. What a gem! You can tell she really cares about her team and the overall experience at Sunny Side Cafe. It's not easy running a place during such a hectic event, but she truly does an excellent job of making sure everything flows smoothly. You can sense the warmth and dedication she brings to her role, and it reflects in the way her staff interacts with customers. As for the food, I went for the Eggs Benedict, which was absolutely divine! The hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. My friend opted for the French toast, which looked so fluffy and decadent--I almost wished I had ordered that too! While we were waiting for our meals, we enjoyed chatting and soaking in the busy atmosphere. Now, while we waited, we over heard some folks who were treating the servers with disrespectful manners. I must say it's important to remind folks to treat servers with kindness and respect. They're working incredibly hard, especially during busy times like this, and Janelle and Kosta really exemplified that dedication. It's easy to forget that everyone is doing their best to create a lovely experience for us, and that the servers are humans too just like us! When our meals finally arrived, they were worth every moment of the wait. The flavors were simply delightful, and I left feeling satisfied and happy. So, if you're looking for a delightful spot to enjoy a meal, I can't recommend Sunny Side Cafe enough. The food is fantastic, but it's the wonderful staff--like Janelle, Kosta, and Katrina--that truly make the experience special. I recently visited the Sunny Side Cafe for the first time. My first impression was that of an inviting cafe with soft tones and charming landscaping. The staff and the host were friendly and hospitable the entire time. The patty melt was delicious, with a great crunch on the rye bread and perfectly cooked cheese that was evenly distributed, making every bite spot on. Sunny Side Cafe in Seal Beach has recently opened in the old Denny's location (which I used to visit), and I'm really enjoying the change! The menu feels fresher and more modern, though I do find the menu graphics a bit hard to read and compare offerings. They have all the usual breakfast favorites, with a slight Hispanic twist--everything from waffles and pancakes to breakfast sandwiches, toasts, and omelets. While the menu is mostly standard fare, their fresh pastries are a standout and definitely worth trying. The staff is very friendly, and it's never too crowded, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. They also have limited lunch and dinner options. I recently visited Sunny Side Cafe Restaurant and had an amazing time! The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was lovely. I highly recommend trying their home-style cheesecake and their homemade strawberry jam, it's absolutely delicious! The perfect balance of creamy and sweet. They also have other pastries that they all bake in house! If you are looking on the lighter side they also have an amazing vanilla yogurt paired with delicious toppings. They also have fresh orange juice and you have to try the barista bar! You can get a lovely matcha latte! Iced or hot. The restaurant has a cozy feel and looks great inside. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our family used to go to this spot when it was Denny's for many years, but this restaurant is much, much better, and the food quality is much better than Denny's. The service is awesome too. I had the chorizzo omelette which was super tasty. My mom had the chicken skewers, which she said was delicious. I tried the yellow rice and house salad, which were also really good. I learned the owners are Greek so they do Greek food, really well. I thought it would be typical diner food, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm definitely coming back with my wife! read more

I had a very disappointing experience here . The food I received was not only inedible but also completely unappetizing. When I asked if it could be remade, I was informed that was not an option. As a mom of two toddlers it was the perfect environment to have a family breakfast. The staff was very attentive and the food was amazing. My kids loved dancing to the music.
