Found this hidden gem in Rancho. When we walked in we were greeted right away the staff was very attentive and friendly. Cute little mom and pop shop. Very rustic and vintage kinda of vibe. The service was great. Our waiter kept checking in and making sure we were okay. The owner came up to us as well to see if everything was fine when the food came out. Great place all in all . The fresh OJ wasn't too sweet. Actually pretty good. I did order a Carmel crunch coffee. I don't know if the coffee was burnt or if it was bitter. Also i don't know where the crunch is in the coffee but it was still okay Ordered the chilaquiles which was a good portion size. It did have a kick but was not too spicy. The chicken and waffles were pretty good. The chicken was a good size. The eggs that came with it. They do charge extra for eggwhites, But what's okay I think the eggs were cooked in too much butter. Sunny's Cafe is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Our server, Adriana, was incredibly friendly and kind, attentive without being overbearing, and she genuinely made us feel taken care of. We also had the pleasure of chatting with Sunny himself, the co-owner and the man behind their incredible Belgium waffle recipe (the sous chef as well). He's such a simple, down-to-earth guy, and you can tell he pours heart into what he does. Hearing the story behind the waffle recipe made the experience even better. And the food? 10/10. I was really excited to try this place. It is very cute and quaint but honestly the food was not impressive. We got the Mexican hot chocolate French toast which nothing about it gave abuelitas coco... it just had a spiced chocolate syrup, but the French toast itself was dry and not just okay. We also had the chilaquiles (which is my favorite item to get for brunch everywhere) and I was disappointed. The fried tortilla chips had a very burnt and overdone flavor, the pickled onion was just okay, the steak we added was okay, and it was overall dry and I kept having to add hot sauce to it because there wasn't enough green sauce. Took the big kids out for breakfast and found this spot because of Yelp. I had no idea it existed. Cute little cafe with good lighting. The chef in the back did his thing. Everything was delicious. Our new favorite breakfast spot!!! Everything was not only delicious but also had beautiful a presentation. I ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon, which were both cooked to perfection. And my mom had the chilaquiles. Both very delicious. My kids had the children's breakfast and they raved about it! I also truly appreciated how the chef/owner came out to check up on our food, personally. Cute little brunch spot tucked away in a strip mall plaza. They offer a menu with American sandwiches, chicken and waffles, and eggs. I opted for the waffle and chicken tenders. Super crispy chicken on top of the flakiest waffles ever. Perfect combo of sweet and savory. It was a big portion and I packed half of it to go. The waffles blew me away! They had powdered sugar on top, so they were sweet even without added maple syrup. The interior of the restaurant is pretty humble, but it's a very homey place. read more

We recommended this place to a bunch of friends. Their hours are 8-2. My friends showed up at 12 and got turned away. They told them it was slow so they closed early. I was in disbelief, so I called the restaurant myself, and they said if i come in within 10 mins, they can seat me. Strange, why did my friends get turned away then?? Thought it was a one time thing, so begged my friends to give it another shot. Came back another day around 12:30, same thing happened. We got turned away. The owner was very apologetic at least. Was craving their food and wanted to have it again. This time, didnt want to be turned away after driving 20 minutes. So we gave them a call when we were on the road- "Can you seat us if we arrive in a few mins?" They said yes. We show up, the restaurant is empty (slow hours), and suddenly their "grill, hood, and other kitchen equipment" all stopped working. Within the last 5 mins, their equipment broke and they cleared out the whole restaurant???? Love their food but won't be wasting my gas to come here again. read more

The team was very kind and welcoming, which we appreciated, but unfortunately the service itself didn't meet expectations. We waited nearly an hour for our food, and that was only after we asked about the status of our order. When the food finally arrived, the Mexican hot chocolate French toast was cold. We sent it back, and when it returned it was just two pieces of bread with the toppings. While the presentation looked nice, the food itself wasn't great. For a restaurant of this size, I expected more attentive service and better quality, especially based on the positive reviews I had seen. I had heard about how good this place was so I thought I'd check it out. It was the first restaurant I had been to since having a baby. It's a small place but it can fit a decent amount of people. Service was incredible. Top notch. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming. I believe it was the owner who went around making sure everything was going well. The food was very good. We found this small quaint place yesterday. We absolutely LOVED it. I ordered the chilaquilles and they were so AMAZING. The owner Sunny walks around greeting his customers which I thought was very sweet. He gave my grandaughter some cheese cake for her birthday and a smaller piece for all 5 of us. Coffee was really good as well. This is our new favorite breakfast place now. My mouth is watering just thinking about the delicious breakfast I had . Had breakfast with my wife; she had the veggie omelette with jalapeños added & I had the brioche French toast with eggs & potatoes. The omelette was perfectly done & delicious, especially with the green salsa on top. The brioche French toast was thick & topped with berries (strawberries, blueberries & blackberries) house made whipped cream & was also very good. The home style potatoes were especially good being red potatoes cooked with cooked with onions & bell peppers. The owner/chef came out and greeted us asking how things were. And found out that he was a pastry chef which explains the exceptional brioche bread for the French toast. Give this place a try! My sister and I decided to give this restaurant a try since it's right by my house. We walked in on a monday around 1pm, there was about 3 people dining in and a few open tables. When we walked in we were greeted and told to sit where ever. The chilaquiles were SOOOO good, a little spicy, but soooo good! My sister ordered the Katsu Sando and that was very tasty as well. The waitress brought us water and then we ordered 2 cold brews ($3 each) and it was really good. We both ordered Sunny's sandwich which was really good except for the white sauce drizzled all over it, it didn't add to the flavor and made the sandwich super messy. I was a little worried when I first walked in because the place was completely empty. But, it was a week day so, I didn't want to make assumptions and I had decided that I wanted to find a new local breakfast joint so, I waited. Sunny came walking in from the front entrance and greeted me with a huge smile. We had a lovely conversation about his son's love of golf (I was wearing a golf shirt). I ordered their version of Eggs Benedict and it was fantastic. I am not usually a fan of breakfast potatoes instead of hash browns but they were excellent as well. Came back and I still give this place a five star. We tried a couple new things today and we were so happy we did. They have a cocine and waffle dish with their own twist on it and they did it right. That chicken was crunchy and juicy and tender!! The waffle is not your traditional waffle but pairs perfectly with this chicken. The Nashville sauce was too hot for me but others loved it and said it was the perfect spice. We sat outside originally and moved inside once it got a bit chilly. What a great culinary adventure. They have fresh squeezed OJ and it tastes great. The menu has a lot of unique choices; such as Kimchi fried rice (Sunny's mom's recipe), Shrimp & Sausage Po'Boy, and more. I ordered Sunny's hamburger. It was great and I loved the fries. The fresh baked brioche bun was the delicious. Sunny came by our table and talked with us. He and his staff are very kind and courteous. It feels like home. I enjoyed the decor complete with an antique record player, a rotary phone and an old-fashioned wooden wall phone. The cheesecake was perfect. We did not intend to eat here, but thanks to Yelp, I'm glad we did. It is tucked into a strip mall, so there is free parking. But you might have to hunt a little depending on the time of day. Seating is small, but they were able to seat us quickly despite it being busy. FOOD: The Croque Monsieur was delicious! It's rare to find that on a menu, so when I saw it, I immediately ordered it. The French Toast bread was delicious. Paired well with the thick meat and cheese inside. AND they did NOT drown it in powdered sugar- which is a pitfall of some places. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. COFFEE: If you're feeling iced coffee, the caramel coffee was great! AND they make the whipped cream from scratch!! Was visiting area after Mt Baldy. The food we ordered was delicious and had a great presentation. The restaurant service and ambiance had a "homey" feel and a place I would return to. Overall service was good, I think could have been a bit better in 2 ways: 1- server forgot our drinks and had to be reminded (not a big thing) and he made up for it by giving us a small piece of homemade cheesecake 2- Bill came, I paid.
