This was my first visit here along with my husband. I ordered corn beef hash and eggs along with grits. My husband ordered eggs, pancakes, and turkey patties. Our entire meal was delicious especially the grits. The food was plentiful and I requested a take gone box because it was just a bit too much. I thought the service was good but could have been better. The server did not come to check in in us until she brought the ticket to us. I ordered coffee and was never often a refill until I had almost finished my meal. For this reason, I'm giving a 4 star instead of 5. The restaurant wasn't busy so not a real reason why our server shouldn't have given better service. read more

Vegetable omelette was very good, big amount with very reasonable price, staff very friendly, checked on me several times and asked if I needed anything. This place is just a couple of miles away from Detroit airport, very easy to reach by public transportation (take smart bus 280 from airport terminal for $2 one way, another $2 to get back), so if you missed your flight ( just like I did) or arrived to airport early, you should try this place (Uber charges you $5-6). read more

Went here for breakfast. It's a good quick in and out spot. They give you good amount of food. The pancakes are thick and are a meal within itself, I'll get the half order next time. I would definetly recommend the corned beef and hash, it was excellent, I like that they use real corned beef and not that canned stuff. The only complaint is have is that some of the dishes were not clean, maybe I just got a bad glass but it is a turnoff when you have a smudge of dried mustard inside your water. I won't hold it aganist them and will give this place another try. The corned beef is worth it. read more

Man this Coney Island is by far the best in the area!!!! I drive pass Leo's, & L' George's to get food from here. We've had their coney dogs, chili cheese fries, omletes, grilled chicken Greek salad, and some sandwiches from here them. And when I tell you we eat good I'm not lying. The cook and wait staff are very friendly. They are welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. Here's something that really impressed me.. the waitress accidentally over charged me for my salad and she literally chased after me to my car to give me back my over payment. This place has consistently good breakfast food at a good price. I like the hashbrown and meat options. My eggs were a little overdon, but that didn't detract from my meal.I haven't tried their coffee yet, but when I do, I will update this review. Awesome family owned restaurant. Service was fantastic and our waitress knew the menu and helped navigate the many choices perfectly. If you like biscuits and gravy, GET THE BISCUITS AND GRAVY! They use a from-scratch gravy that is perfectly seasoned and hits that hearty, scrumptious spot. Asked for bacon crispy and they delivered perfectly crispy bacon that wasn't burnt. My first and last time going to this place. Stopped in one morning to get breakfast. I ordered my food, paid and waited for it to be cooked. I instantly regretted it because NOBODY WORKING THERE HAD GLOVES ON! The man cooking the food didn't have gloves on, the girls up front didn't have gloves on either, and they were answering phones, taking orders, serving people, handling to go orders, and NOBODY wore gloves. Covid still exists; and still, that's just unsanitary and disgusting. I should have just canceled my order and got a refund. The food was not good and those were NOT hash browns. I stopped by Sunnys for lunch on the way home from the airport and had a pretty good experience. This place was a pretty typical diner/coney island, with a large menu and even larger servings! Seriously, the portions are gigantic- I ordered a half order of pancakes and a side of hash browns, and ended up with probably enough leftovers to last another two meals! Service was very slow, but I think only one cook and two servers were working that day for the six or so tables that were dining in. While the food was just alright, I think the value makes this place definitely worth it! We came for breakfast, which I don't think was necessarily the focus of the restaurant, but breakfast had a full page on the menu regardless. They had standard diner food, and most of it looked good. The first thing we noticed was that the prices were incredibly low. Our server was patient and knew the menu like the back of her hand. I got the #3 (Big Breakfast) with hash browns, which consisted of Ham, 4 slices of Bacon, 2 Eggs, 2 Sausage links, and about a pound of Hash Browns. Everything about the dish was great, except the hash browns. The dish cost a total of $5.85, which is a total bargain. The hash browns, which weren't crispy and tasted more like oiled slices of baked potato, could have been substituted for the 1/2 stack of pancakes, which my sister got. The pancakes were absolutely amazing. Also, an FYI: the 1/2 stack of pancakes is two pancakes about a foot across each. Beware the huge, inexpensive portions. Our server was totally surprised when we gave her $40.00 for a party of 5, but that was probably because the bill was $28.50. It was worth it. In short, the place is inexpensive, great for breakfast, and probably even better for lunch. We'll be coming back, the sooner the better. read more

I work out of the airport so I spend quite a bit of time at the local hotels. If you looking for a spot for breaky, Sunny's is one of your best choices. Reasonable walking distance and large portions. It's a small diner so I imagine it could get crowded quickly, but the service was really great and the diner was clean. I had a veggie Omelet and a side of bacon, because it makes sense to me. Basic but delicious. It was actually 1pm when I got there so everyone else was having lunch but from what I saw it everything looked tasty. I would have kept driving by the lack of curb appeal, but yelp reviews inspired me to stop in. They were few choices as we had about 2 hours to kill before dropping off a friend at the airport. We did not want to fight rush-hour traffic, so we got here early and I had a steaming hot Ruben on deliciously crispy grilled rye bread with a giant dill pickle.
