Two egg breakfast with a grilled biscuit
    Benjamin K.

Went with my friends while traveling through Maine. Very busy in the morning for breakfast, but the food is amazing and worth it. They make a drilled biscuit, which everyone has to try at least once in your life. Seriously, put it on your bucket list of foods to try, you won't regret it! Eggs were also delay and of course the coffee wasn't bad. This is just one of those great breakfast places that you know everything on the menu is gonna be good and made fresh when you order it.

I was at the Sunrise Cafe in February 2021, and was just there. Excellent breakfast food and they even make their own corned beef hash that is out of this world! Very clean and plain decor, and the service is wonderful! Locals flock to this secret spot, that is a joy! About 10 minutes from the outlets! The prices are quite reasonable!

My raspberry muffin and the hash browns I ordered by mistake. Senior moment?

I had breakfast here with a friend and although I was not impressed enough to care to return, I will admit some of my disappointment might just be a matter of taste, and some of it was self-inflicted. The server was friendly and efficient. I ordered a homemade raspberry muffin. She offered to grill the muffin, which was great as I usually ask but forget this time. It was excellent. I ordered corned beef hash to go with it. Or so I thought. When I got it I realized it was hash browns instead. My friend told me I had indeed ordered the wrong thing and suggested I ask for the corned beef hash. But as it was my error I decided I didn't want food wasted, and I am okay with hash browns. My friend ordered an omelet that came with home fries. She didn't want the home fries and gave them to me. They weren't quite as browned as I like them but it was fine. She also offered a bit of her omelette, but it was too rubbery and flat for me. At home I tend to make them thicker, brown on the outside and more fluffy inside, but that might just be my taste. So it wasn't memorable for me at all, but your experience may differ.

First time coming to this breakfast spot in Freeport. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Yummy specials menu. We tried the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of potato pancakes from specials menu and the Pumpkin french toast from the specials menu which included a meat- which I got the kielbasa. Both were yummy!

Perfect greasy spood little hole in the wall breakfast spot. I had perhaps the best tasting English muffin here as part of a delicious sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. My daughter and son loved their pancakes and French toast. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the friendly service. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for a classic breakfast joint.

Scrambled egg, bacon, English muffin and funky home fries

Too warm and stuffy with no ventilation. Waitress took a while to acknowledge us. Menu is diner type food. Prices are reasonable. Tables were not clean, and it was not so packed that they had not had a chance to clean them. We moved from one table with syrup and jelly only to find our new table had grease on it. Eggs were light and fluffy. Grilled English muffin was nice and crispy. Bacon was quite thin but crisp and tasty. Grilled potatoes tasted like they were seasoned with kerosene. Not sure if it was the oil, some odd spice, etc. but it was definitely funky tasting. Waitresses all left en-masse at the same time for 10 -15 minutes to "Check the weather" which was quite odd.

Always a good breakfast in the morning. Locals love it. Tourists are recommended by hotels. Good food. Kielbasas are tasty in egg dishes.

Two eggs toast home fries and OJ. Breakfast of champions. Done really well. In and out in a fairly good jiffy. No complaints here.

After 1hr and 45 minutes of waiting for our food, promises that the food is coming from the poor waitress, no food. The restaurant was emptying out. Mind you, this is for two plates of scrambled eggs, toast and home fries. This was the attitude directly from the owner to the waitress. The owner could have cared less. The worst treatment I've ever experienced from a breakfast joint. I'll never go again and would advise people to not go as well. 0 out of 10 rating. The waitress was apologetic and frankly embarrassed by the owner's attitude.

I will say they appear to have their baked goods as well as many different food options like sandwiches but my review is strictly for the coffee. Once you enter to the right is all the different seating with a good variety of tables and chairs but also some more comfy choices like couches. Quite a large space inside and a handful of tables outside to enjoy the nice weather. You order at the counter and then they have a spot further down where they'll call out your name for both food and drinks. They had a section on the menu called the MET Artistic Lattes which was their version of specialty flavored lattes. This caught our eyes. My wife went with the Falcon Pride (chocolate & white chocolate latte) and I went with the Vanilla Bean Dream (white chocolate & vanilla). Drink wise they were both pretty good! Didn't become a new favorite coffee spot but good enough we would return if we found ourselves in the area looking for coffee again. To have a real strong opinion I would need to return and try some of the food rather than just the coffee.

I like the interior: it has old, historic Maine building vibes (the exposed brick, the wooden floors, the large windows with accent shutters). I like the coffee (it's from a local roaster; shame on other coffee shops for not buying their beans from Maine businesses). I like the staff: I had A LOT of weird requests, and the person ringing me up was like, "yeah, we got you, girl" (not like that, but you get the point). I like the abundance of non-dairy creamer options. I like the very Maine themed lattes (like, The Golden Road? IYKYK) I like the very seasonal themed lattes. I like that they're dog friendly. I asked them if it was possible to get the Down East Maple Latte iced (with an extra shot) and additionally a healthy sprinkle of sea salt. It was the saltiest latte I've ever had in my life, but like, in a good way? It was a gentle amount of sweet, strong on the espresso flavor, and salty. I would absolutely come out of my way to WFM here!

The coffee was served in a hand made mug with no handle. WAY TOO HOT to hold. When I pointed this out the server moved on to mistake number two. "You can pick it up at the rim," she suggested, and then proceeded to demonstrate, putting her fingers ALL OVER the rim.... DISGUSTING! There is an old expression in the food service business where top third of a glass, mug etc. belongs to the customer. In a 15 second interaction they managed to screw up a simple cup of coffee.....For A COFFEE SHOP, you would think they would be savvy about such simple minded matters.... Had her pour into a paper cup and bit my tongue.....Get it together......it is a simple process.

So I do have to wait a few minutes longer, but it's typically worth it for a fresh burger. One time I was presented with the bag and didn't bother look inside, only to find out later that it didn't include the fries that I had paid for with the meal. Meal. I was super disappointed but felt helpless by the time I got to the nursing home. As a result, I definitely check the bag every time it's handed to me now. I recently ordered an iced coffee with half the amount of caramel flavoring and a small amount of cream, which is tough to get right, and whoever made it aced the test. The iced coffee was phenomenal and I'm still mentioning how good it was today because I avoid getting iced coffee everywhere I Go because it won't be made to my satisfaction. Whoever was working at this McDonald's that day made the iced coffee so well and I am so thankful for them, but I also don't necessarily trust getting one that perfect again. One of the times I visited, picking up my dad's order, I went inside. Inside I couldn't even find the exact quarter pounder that I order on the drive-thru menu on the self-serve menu. As a result, I got my dad the wrong version of a quarter pounder that had lettuce and was just as messy as a Big Mac and he was not impressed. I literally could not find the basic quarter pound of cheese on this self-serve menu and was not about to flag down an employee to figure it out for me so I went with it. As a result, I'm not going to go inside again. I should learn to order on the app in advance for pickup but I'm not quite there yet. This is probably one of the more fancy McDonald's out there like because the building is a house. The parking lot is a little confusing but all in all good people work there and I have had good enough experiences that I will keep going back.
