I was out driving around here in Long Beach early this morning and saw this donut shop. I know my crew would really love me more if I brought them some fresh donuts this morning. I'm glad to see this is more of least a normal donut shop with real normal donuts. I'm tired of these new fancy donut shops specializing in "creative" donuts with all kind of crazy toppings like every sweet cereal you grew up with priced like at $5.00 a donut or something. I go in and can tell this is one of those Asian donut shops that opened all over down here in SoCal. I think they might be Cambodian, nothing against Asians making donuts, they're the ones that started using the pink boxes we all know. Asians make the best fried chicken, so why not donuts? I look at all the donuts in the cases and they seem like all the familiar ones. I order a dozen and just point to the ones I want. The even have bear claws. I got one of those just for me. There's croissant stuff too. Service is friendly and efficient. The interior is a little dated but I'm here for donuts, not a fancy date or something. I get the donuts and eat that bear claw on my way back to the hotel to meet up with my crew. Always love a good 24/hr Drive Through Donut Shop! The people are friendly and the donuts are always fresh! They do prefer cash over card. Inside is a nice seating area to chat, drink coffee, and enjoy the smells! Highly recommend if you need something on the go. Stopped by the drive thru on our way to hilltop park nearby and got 2 blueberry donuts. The man who served us was really nice and even threw in a couple of donut balls into our bag! Would come back again for the interaction and try different donuts. read more

This donut shop has been around forever, since I was a kid. I'm sure I've had them before in the past, but I don't recall how I felt about them. Today on a walk with my dad and daughter we popped in for some donuts. I noticed immediately that they sell lottery tickets, milkshakes and ice cream as well. They also advertise a sandwich menu that looks delicious. I'll have to stop by and try they turkey and cheese on a croissant. Today we grabbed half a dozen: maple bar, chocolate twist, blueberry donut, old-fashioned, buttermilk and a chocolate glazed with sprinkles. I was a bit disappointed with the blueberry one. I didn't taste any blueberry even though it did have visible specs, and it tasted like they may have over-salted that batter a bit. The rest of the donuts were delicious. My favorite was the buttermilk! I never noticed the difference between that one and the old-fashioned, I usually order one or the other interchangeably, but if I were to choose my favorite based on this encounter, the buttermilk wins, hands down. My daughter enjoyed her sprinkle donut and my dad enjoyed his maple bar. Will come back for sure. Oh yeah, and they're open 24/7 AND have a drive thru. read more

CASH ONLY! It's time to talk about late-night donuts! Yes, I arrived late, but it was on purpose. When a donut shop stays open late at night, I always want to check it out. After dinner, I stopped by Sunrise Donuts. Rather than experimenting with other flavors, I bought only three classics. However, I was unable to get a chocolate glaze donut. Upon arriving a little before 830, I was surprised to see that there was a small line. It took just a few minutes to place my order for 2 glazes and a blueberry - my total was $4 plus tip. That's what I'm waiting for when a donut place is open late. I found the selection to be impressive even so late at night. Donut shops tend to have this amount of sales when they first open. In addition, they taste freshly baked. You should take a look at the layers in the doughnut. You'll love how fluffy and light they are. I would like to point out that this glazed donut isn't too sweet. An excellent balance of sweetness without being overpowering. When I opened the bag, it smelled like donuts even though the shop itself did not. It's worth a visit if you get the chance. They are going out of your way classic donuts, even if you don't get a chance to try them. Whether it's 6am or 11pm, you won't be disappointed. There are so many new gimmicky places popping up that it is very refreshing to see one that focuses on the classics and excels at them. They have a drive-through and a back parking area. strolling home on my bike. saw a drive through with pretty lights and a 24 hour donut sign that pulled me in. felt like a ham and cheese croissant and a few donuts so i pulled in. the owner was very very kind and i appreciate that even more so since it was past 1:am. i'm sure he's exhausted . we got to talkin a bit, he mentioned the vince staples show was shot here. thought that was dope and he seemed proud of it (i would be too). we got to the point where he told me this is the best donut shop in town. now, im born and raised lb so my ego kicks in and i think to myself ill be the judge of that. got home. warmed up the croissant.
