I ate at the tybee location today. My experience was horrible. I will never return. Our table was sticky, bench was sticky. I could look beyond that during a busy hour. However during my meal I had a german DIRT ROACH crawl across my leg. I attempted to remain calm and explain it away by it being a beach location. Unfortunately, myself and my friend had roaches crawl onto the diaper bag, another on my foot, and when I finally couldn't take it and we left- I noticed more roaches crawling along the bench I was sitting on. The waitress gave us our food and never checked on us again. We never got refills. My pancakes were cold and tough- I had to cut them with a knife. When I was paying I noticed the kitchen floor was filthy. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there wasn't one there. The whole place was disgusting. read more

Our group of 5 all had the breakfast buffet on Saturday morning. We wanted to go to the Breakfast Club but the line there was so long and everyone was hungry and didn't want to wait so we came here. It was very busy but we found a booth quickly. The buffet had all the typical breakfast food plus fruit (mostly canned) and bread. The hash browns and bacon were great. We never saw our waitress again after she brought us our drinks. Had to tell the cashier what we each had when it was time to leave because we never got the check. read more

If you like your food to be salted, at all, this is not the place for you. The eggs tasted like they came from a carton, and I can't emphasize enough that there was literally no salt on them. The hash browns were crispy but again, not at all salted. My wife got the grits and said they were good. My mom got a bagel with cream cheese and said the cream cheese tasted sour. Decent little diner. Had breakfast at the recommendation of our innkeeper and the meal was okay. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. Parking was a bit of a challenge but I suspect that would be the case anywhere in that area. We ate from the menu so I cannot comment as to the quality of the buffet. read more

We went back today and thought it was much better. I got a fried egg with ham and real butter on the toast. I also stole my husband's grits. Since he isn't a grit person he really didn't mind. We visit Tybee at least twice a year. We always go to the Breakfast Club. This time we decided to go to the Sunrise Restaurant. We walked in and got sat right away, the server was nice and greeted us promptly. We got our drinks and went to the breakfast buffet. I noticed we didn't have silverware so I walked over to the low bar next to the kitchen where there was a tray full of rolled silverware. As I was walking back to my table a server (not ours) walked over and asked where we were sitting.... I pointed where and she took the silverware from me and told me my server would bring me some when she brings the drinks, in which we already had. I watched her tell our server that we needed silverware and our server picked 2 rolls of silverware from the same tray/place I grabbed the first set from. As a corporate restaurant manager of many years I'm trying to figure out why the other server took the silverware from me. Quite frankly I found it very rude of her to do this. Needless to say we will be sticking to the Breakfast Club on future visits. read more

This was my first time visiting Tybee Island and I highly recommend this breakfast spot! Very low key diner feel with amazing food for a great price! Best breakfast by far, 2 in our party got the breakfast buffet, while the other 4 ordered from the menu. Food was speedy and delicious, server was friendly, efficient and attentive. Eat early for best seating, place was getting crowded as we left. The place is not nearly as claustrophobically crowded as the place across the street. Prices are more than reasonable. read more

Breakfast we ordered was delicious, just what we needed after the two of us eloped. The grits were excellent and omelets tasty. I love a local diner better than any corporate chain. Initially was worried with prices on the Main drag location but good deals and large portions. The cleanliness was fair, and decor seemed aging like an old buffet restaurant. I was very surprised the owners been in business over 30 years and their customer service was very polite. Check out the history of whom were the island settlers. Interesting indeed! Was going across the street to a higher rated Bfast restaurant but too hungry to wait. Wasn't expecting much but pleasantly surprised by the Tybee omelet with grits. Full of fresh small shrimp and some of the best grits I have had. Restaurant is a bit run down but for an inexpensive and good Bfast can't go wrong. Service was excellent as well read more

I usually keep my opinions to myself on Yelp and come for other opinions, but I can't let this one go without a WARNING. Disgusting place. Both my friends chair and mine still had debris in it. My friend ordered an omelette and her broccoli was brown and dull like it had been boiled or steamed ahead of time. And then there was a MASSIVE, full sized woman's HAIR in between our pancakes. Thank god we lifted a pancake off the plate and didn't just dig in. We alerted the server instantly. They refunded us for the pancakes. We paid for our two meals and coffee even though we'd barely even touched them. I've been to some less than desiring food spots before but this place is hands down the nastiest place. read more

Friday morning we stopped for breakfast and it was wonderful, but with no gravy biscuit's. Convinced to return on the weekend for that gravy biscuit. Saturday was the buffet and everything you could want was fresh Hot and waiting. The fresh cantaloupe and dew melon was GREAT especially to be out of prime season. Right across the street from The Breakfast Club and SO much better. The staff was friendlier, the food was better and it was more reasonably priced. He had the breakfast combo with eggs, bacon, corned beef hash and pancakes. I ate his grits as he doesn't like them. They were creamy and yummy. I had the chicken and waffles, something that I've been craving since I got here and they were good. I totally get being understaffed and having long wait times on a holiday ...new years eve...and I am in the restaurant business, so I can forgive a lot. But I draw the line at finding a hair in my hash browns AND in my husbands pancake, because that's just gross. When we sat at a dirty table for 10 minutes and had to beg three different people to clean it off, that should have been our clue to leave. No one greeted us, in fact they were irritated to have to clean off the table and explained it was not her job. We waited 45 minutes for our food, with three young kids. We only got one kids meal, about which the waitress did not apologize and said there was nothing she could do. She did remember to charge us for the other two, though! My husband got the wrong kind on pancakes, complete with a hair sticking out. My breakfast sandwich was cold, on the wrong bread, and there was a hair in my hash browns. If anyone acknowledged the errors or apologized for them, that would be one thing. But instead they could not have cared any less and still expected to be paid full price for the meal. Sunrise is a good ol' diner. Not fancy but its clean and the staff is friendly. We had the breakfast buffet and chicken nuggets. All the food was very good. By far the best deal on the island. Prices were reasonable like a hometown diner, not a tourist beach trap. The meals were large as my son put it "This is the biggest breakfast I have ever eaten." :) Will go to it again if we are ever in town. read more
