This is a very laid back place, think classy Jimmy Buffet, not at all what I was expecting to find this far south in JoCo. We stopped in for breakfast the Saturday before Mother's Day when other plans fell through. This place was picked by proximity and Yelp reviews. Our server was prompt and friendly, the food arrived in a timely manner and every single thing was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. My grandmother devoured her pancakes, she made a happy plate! Mom's eggs benedict w spinach was perfect and the flamingo french toast I ordered was daring me to inhale the whole thing and then lick the plate clean. Sunset grill is one of our go-to restaurants. Tonight, we specifically went to Sunset Grill to see the magician while we ate. He walked past our table twice, and even though my husband acknowledged him, he did not stop at our table. This place is a hidden gem! My wife and I eat breakfast here (Saturday and Sunday) EVERY week. Ally the bartender is a 10+! Her sister Kirsten also works/manages and she is terrific as well. The food is delectable and is only surpassed by the service. Unfortunately, and selfishly, it seems like more and more folks are learning of this treasure of a neighborhood restaurant as we have to get there earlier and earlier for seats! Anyway - well worth a visit - they also have excellent food for lunch and dinner. In addition - they have great entertainment on the weekends. Whenever I go here the service staff is always very friendly. Always makes my experience pleasant. Excellent breakfast place, love their eggs Benedict. Can get busy, but it's always been excellent. My family and I come here about once a month. It is a welcome change from the usual places we eat at, that's for sure. They have a great magician, Tom Burgoon, that comes around table to table and does a fun little magic show for the kids on Sundays. The kids food is pretty good, albeit kinda pricey for what you get. They do offer a fruit cup option, which is a big two thumbs up over french fries. As for the grown-up food, it's top-notch. The Sunset Chopped Salad blows my mind. It is not a low-cal salad, that's for sure. Straight from the menu: Chopped garden greens with red onions, prosciutto ham, gorgonzola cheese, seasoned Roma tomatoes, and marinated chicken. Delicious "Sunset vinagrette". Seems pretty sugary, but with the salad it's a great combo. This has gotta be a 1k+ calorie salad, but it's good enough I don't really care. Also one of my favs is the Beach Fire Chicken Nachos. Totally awesome, probably the best nachos I've ever had. The Beach Fire sauce totally sets these apart from other nachos and makes these a unique experience among all the chips/cheese/beef offerings. Sunset Grill for lunch today! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it was yummy but slightly messy! Not First date food, but luckily I was with girlfriends and they didn't mind chicken falling out and buffalo sauce running down my chin! Sunset Grill is also my go to for happy hour! Great drink specials and the best guacamole. It's on special too. I'm so disappointed in Sunset grille. I go there often for breakfast on weekends and an occasional lunch. On Sunday my wife and I went to breakfast together around 10:00 am. Not real busy about normal crowd. We always chose to sit at a high top in the bar area where it's open seating. We sat down and waited for 8 minutes before I politely asked if we could be served as we haven't even been looked at it seemed by wait staff or the bartender. Mind you there were 3 people sitting at the bar and empty high top to my right. So after asking the bartender we continued to wait without being served still. During this time the open high top was taken. The waitress went to their table, took their order and provide water. Needless to say we left. I shouldn't have said anything to the young waitress but I provided her feedback that hopefully will help her. Soooo disappointed and this has been probably my 4th or 5th experience like this. I've liked everything my fiance has had there, but their coconut shrimp isn't much to brag about. Also, skip the chips and dip. They have options for skewers and I'd definitely do that. There is hardly ever a wait, and the staff is pretty good. Drink and food prices are average. read more

I expected to have a great breakfast here as I had heard good things and the place was packed. However, our group was underwhelmed to say the least. Everything on my plate was cold. In fact, every plate at the table was cold. The "butter" (it tasted funky - might be margarine but I haven't tasted that stuff in years) would not even start to melt on my son's pancakes. My eggs, biscuit, and bacon were all cold. I mean cold. This most likely is caused by lack of heat lamps to keep thinks warm after plating and over-worked servers. But my bacon was absolutely raw. I'm not terribly picky about bacon (even bad bacon is good) but this was raw. Didn't touch it. Service was poor but I fully tipped bc our waitress never stopped. She was just spread way too thin which is a management problem. I gave two stars instead of 1 bc I liked the atmosphere, we had an enjoyable time, the prices were very reasonable, and our waitress did as well as she could. I might go for lunch or dinner, but will avoid breakfast. Management of the Sunday breakfast service needs to be fixed. read more

Super disappointed! We have eaten here for years and is the most consistent food in he area. The entire family was really excited to see new menu offerings. We tried the filet (medium rare) and some old faithfuls (volcanic pasta). The pasta was absent the chicken, and steak was well .... well. The potatoes were barely warm. After 15 minutes they eventually brought a plate of chopped up chicken bits for the pasta ... WRONG! And 10 min later a poor example of what could have been a good steak. A party of 7, 3 kids, 4 adults, had lunch/brunch here on April 1, 2012. We were seated as soon as we walked in the door at 12:05 and our waitress was there quickly to take drink orders. After the drinks arrive, our order was taken. Two had lunch items while the other 5 consumed breakfast items. Food arrive in an adequate amount of time, and all enjoyed their meal, even though one of the over-easy eggs was broken and fried hard. We were also able to talk among ourselves without screaming, which is desirable. Try it, I think you'll like it. read more

Pretty good overall first experience. We were looking for Saturday breakfast and couldn't get in at First Watch. We found this restaurant on the Internet and tried to give it a shot. We were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. The menu didn't seem to line up with the decor. There was definitely an older crowd feel to the place. I ordered a wonderful, and inexpensive mimosa. We split the breakfast quesadilla and a biscuit with gravy on the side. The quesadilla was definitely big enough for two and it was awesome. The biscuit was a little dry and the gravy lacked some flavor but with the huge quesadilla we didn't need it. Our server was great and friendly. The dinner menu looked good and more in line with the theme. The specialty drink menu looked incredible and right up my fruity, alcoholic alley. The bar area also had a younger feel and appearance. We can't wait to try it out. 4 stars for food, 5 for service, 3 for decor. We will be back! read more

Came with coworkers for dinner and had a great time. The sangria was great! I enjoyed the fish tacos, but they could have been spicier. Next time I'll ask for salsa too. I would have preferred they came on soft corn tortillas rather than flour, but that's just my preference. Otherwise, very good. read more

This seems to be a local favorite but we've been here a few times and the food quality is about on par with what we can make at home. It's ok, just nothing special, and sometimes lacking in flavor and portion size for the money. The service has always been great and the atmosphere is kind of akin to something you'd find on the gulf coast side of FL. read more

This place is a family favorite. The atmosphere is open and fun and they have a patio. But their food is what sets them apart! Their price points are good, their food is great! Their red sangria and bloody Mary's are the best I've ever had. You can't go wrong with any appetizer- the jalapeño dip and tiger shrimp are my favorite. Their meals are all delicious, the chopped sunset salad is amazing, but I've eaten almost everything on the menu without a single complain. Their breakfast menu is also killer. My husband and I have been frequent Sunset Grill customers for years, and the reason why is simple, good food, friendly service, and a relaxing easy-going atmosphere with great music to keep you company.. and they are consistent. We've never had a disappointing meal there. Anything we order is always good and cooked the same as it has always been, and the service is always friendly and attentive. The cooks never seem to have a bad day in the kitchen, and as often as my husband and I eat out that is not uncommon for other restaurants. My personal favorites on the menu are their Chicken & Wild Rice Soup, their Guacamole (which is and continues to be the best I've ever had), and their Quesadillas, but you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu, and we've tried almost the entire menu. I went here based on the other reviews and I was SO disappointed. The service was sub-par. But the food was the real issue. Even the soup was greasy! I had a BBQ sandwich and the bread was greasy, there wasn't enough sauce on the meat (which had been described as "drenched' in the menu). Overall it was a very below average experience. My friend took me here today and I would say I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was comparable to a well-lit Applebees but the food was considerably better. I had the Hawaiian skewers which my friend raved about prior. She was correct, they're pretty darn tasty. I had the lunch portion of the skewers and it was wonderfully portioned. I'm a 100 lb girl, and it was enough to satisfy my hunger. However if you need more than one skewer and 1/3rd lb of potatoes, definitely would consider ordering more. This is just a cozy restaurant in South OP. I have only been there for lunch, but the sandwiches and salads are really quality. The thing that makes it different is that all their ingredients are fresh and you can taste it. Their cole slaw is made in-house, not from Sysco or the like. And I don't even like cole-slaw. I really wanted to like the breakfast here, but I just didn't. The coffee reminded me of bad office coffee that you get for free at work. I ordered my eggs over easy and those were cooked ok. I chose ham as my meat option and got about a 2 inch piece of ham on my plate, which was hardly worth bothering with and had fat around around the outside of it. The pancakes were small and served at room temperature and reminded me of frozen pancakes you can microwave. The service was decent but the waitress got my friends order wrong. If I ever come back, it would be for something other than breakfast. read more
