While this place has a great vibe and a cool place to watch the water, it's not worth dealing with over priced food and feeling nervous to order food because of a rude waiter. Our waiter made a joke at the start which was funny, but then began to borderline mimic, and make fun of me. He called me a princess, mimicked my voice in an annoying manner, was trying to hit on me in-front of my boyfriend who he then later insulted. He complained multiple times about a request I asked for to the point where if it bothered you that much to make just cancel the order. He also didn't ring it in until 20 minutes after I had ordered it bc he "couldn't figure out how to ring it in" and the modification was instead of melted cheese add queso. If it was a big deal he could have just told me, I'm easy going and wouldn't have cared. Instead he insulted me multiple times infront of my family, and was just making rude, inappropriate jokes infront of my family. Iv never written a review until now. Food wasn't very good and our server took 20 minutes to get two sodas after he forgot to get them. Also gave my parents the wrong drinks, just overall bad service. read more

The rest of my party liked their burger, crab Mac and cheese and paella. My blackened hog fish was not great. The blackened seasoning was red, which is a bad sign. It was all spice and no flavor. We were seated immediately in a covered outdoor area. On Sunday's they have a DJ by the pool so we could heat the music, but it wasn't too loud. Despite being busy, our waters came pretty quickly. 3 out of 5 were seated so we ordered drinks. You pay for the cup, because my drink was $16 and it was mostly mixers. It was a fun surprise to keep the cup though! Every drink has its own special cup. My burger and fries was good. Nothing too fancy. We chose to dine at Sunset Grille because of their setting in the water. We enjoyed the shrimp dinner and hogfish sandwich. our appetizer, steamed clams were absolutely lackluster with steamed clams and plastic container of melted butter and saltine crackers. NOTHING special at all! The service was very poor. We were never told to follow anyone to a table and someone came and got us and asked if we were dining at the bar or a table. We were finally seated at a table. Our server, Andrea, came to the table 6 minutes after we were seated. She took our drink order and we waited. We received our drinks and then we requested to order an appetizer, steamed clams. They were very disappointing. They were served with saltine crackers only. We ordered our entrees. I ordered fried shrimp and my husband ordered the hogfish sandwich. The entrees were cooked well. The lady who delivered our food to the table, who was wearing a green shirt, asked if we needed anything else and we asked for water with lemon. She said she would let the waitress know. The waitress finally checked on us and I asked for tartar sauce and my husband asked for lemon. We had to ask twice before we received it. Terrible experience this time around. Hosts were snotty, lying teenage kids. Trey especially. I'd fire that kid if I could. After checking several times around the 45 min wait we were given. It wasn't till the man in our group went to check after an hour that we got seated. And right away! Imagine that, a table suddenly appeared. The waiter wasn't on point either. I'll spare him, since he seemed stressed and was supposed to leave his shift but couldn't. Only saving grace was the good food. Outdoor bartender (guy) was pleasant and attentive too. The women ones never checked or refilled us. Good place for the younger crowd with the pool and music and if you don't mind waiting over an hour for a table. Sunset Grille hasn't changed in all the years we've eaten there (whether that's good or bad depends on your point of view). For me, they need a change as the food was only ok this time. The worst part was being told that there was a 40-min wait which was more like 80. It got to the point where we wanted to leave and eat somewhere else, but we already had so much time invested in the wait we didn't want to leave. There's a scientific term for that...I need to look it up. :) I'm still confused as to why they have a pool that only had a smattering of kids in it. Maybe it's livelier during the day? I was in town for the 7 mile bridge run. We decided to scope Sunset Grille out since it was suggested as a great spot to view it from, for my guest who would just be a spectator. We arrived at happy hour time. (From 3-5) We ordered almost exclusively from their Happy Hour menu with the exception of the conch chowder (exactly the Bahamian/Keys style we were looking for.) Everything that we ordered was solid. In total we had two orders of (chilled) shrimp, 6 in one order, an order of garlic Parmesan wings, and the mahi tacos (2 to an order). Our view of the pool overlooking the ocean was breathtaking as is the sunset. I highly recommend it. I want to come back and try anything from their large and varied menu, (they even have a sushi menu.) And I think next round I'll ask to sit by the ocean. read more

We drove over the part of the 7 mile bridge one afternoon and decided to stop here for a drink. It's right off the highway, but you do have to take a little side road to get there. The vibe is fun! We sat at the bar and it did take a while for someone to finally realize we were there (common theme in the keys we discovered). We ordered drinks and the bartender was pretty talkative. We learned a little about her past and one of them was a traveling bartender. She had worked at a bar in Alaska and Hawaii, and I can't remember where else. Her boyfriend travels with her - he's a server but also a photographer so moving around is good for him. We finally ordered six raw oysters and it took quite a while for them to come out. We finally asked the bartender who went back and got them. Being from Kansas City, we thought they would just be awesome. However, we were disappointed. Not a lot of flavor (not that they have much in the first place) and full of tiny pieces of shell. Some of the pieces were large enough that we found them before eating the oyster. We started using a fork to remove the oyster from the shell before eating it. Better that way but still a disappointment. But even with that we would recommend it - just don't get the oysters. read more

I came to Sunset Grill in Raw Bar right after walking the 2 mile bridge to Pigeon Cove back-and-forth which is 4 miles. The nice thing is that it is right there at the foot of the bridge. It is very nice and airy with a nice view of the water. Our waitress was very nice. Once she brought us our waters and drinks order, I ended up order a Ahi tuna salad which was huge had a lot of super fresh tuna. Almost a little too much for the plate. I had a hard time stirring and mixing everything, up which I guess is a good problem to have. The food was super fresh. Very relaxed and chill atmosphere. This is a great spot to watch the sunset behind the 7 mile bridge. The drinks are fun and touristy. Castaway Coconut in an actual coconut shell! Tiki Parrot is in, yep, a parrot mug. The painkiller is serviceable and in a pirate mug. The shrimp avocado starter is nice. The shecrab soup is like queso dip. Goes well with the shrimp avocado! Sushi is good. The conch sashimi is something unique to the Caribbean. I went with a greek salad and hogfish. Light and delightful. The 7 mile hogfish sandwich is a little too cheesy and bready. There is a stairway to the old 7 mile bridge walkway so you can stroll after loading up on tiki drinks and filling seafood. read more
