Our favorite restaurant has always been Sunset Grille especially for its location by the marina and boats. It still is the best location outdoors and indoors but for service and food quality its Hobbit. Bit of a line checking in inside (no issue outside) but we did get a nice table by the window. Savana A was our server and she was average compared to previous visits. We ordered Mahi Fingers which was good, the tomato mozz salad which was not as good as their previous tomato salad. Twice this summer, we have dined at Sunset Grille as a small family with reservations around 6:15pm. Our hope (and goal) was to finish dinner with our check around 8:15pm to catch the nice sunset on the water for a few minutes of family time. Both times we found ourselves at 8:50pm having not seen our waitress for over 30-40 minutes for a check. One of the times we realized our waitress was sitting at the bar herself drinking. You would think they want to get us out to get another group seated. By the time we got up to find someone to close our bill both times, it was pitch black outside. Do better! read more

Out of four people, our consensus is we've had better and less expensive food elsewhere in OC. The appetizer rolls were quite good. The Cheddar flavor in their name was nowhere to be found though. Similarly, the orzo had next to no flavor. The scallops were quite good though didn't really go with the grits. The jalapeno butter was great, but sadly the jalapeno flavor was very inconsistent. One of our halibuts was cooked well and the other had an end that was so over cooked I mistook it for chicken. It was a story of things being good and things being off. I am not above paying $40 for a seafood meal. The food has to be worth it though, and this was not at all. Also, we didn't penalize them for the service since restaurants are still hiring. Just be prepared for the not fully staffed experience you've probably seen elsewhere. read more

So disappointed in this place. 1) my husband's beer had a large shard of glass in it. The whole time he thought there was ice in it for some reason, but when he realized it was sharp pointy shard of glass. They are extremely lucky he didn't drink and swallow it. 2) My sister's food came out twenty minutes after the rest of ours. The guy who brought us the food read us what was on the order and said that was all that was on it, but the waitress lied and told us the kitchen dropped it and never told her. 3)My niece asked for bacon to be omitted, but it was still in hers We told the waitress about everything, but she laughed it off and said she had no idea how it even happened. As an OC resident. It pains me to write this review. Reservation set at 7:30pm. Finally seated at 8:10pm in another section outside that was not our reservation. Ok no problem. Waitress was very nice. Ordered appetizer and drinks. Received drinks. Waited. Then ordered entrees. Waiting. Got second round and asked about appetizers. Waitress said should have been there would look into. Finally came. COLD. We sent back. 2 minutes later main food comes. Not happy and expressed that. Manager (Male) comes over. Quite frankly explained that unhappy with the Reservation issue then the cold appetizers. Manager response was "Do you want the food?" Finally had it and my response was "Are you fning kidding me?" His response was to tell our party of 4 local residents that this was a fine dining and we could leave. We gladly agreed as being residents since 1997 his attitude was appalling. If you are in management and cannot accept frank feedback, you are in the wrong job. Truly sad experience. Unfortunately, as a patron who appreciates local business, this is a sad ending. While frank language can be challenging to some, it does noy discount the fact that our party was not in the wrong. We didn't over book the reservation, we didn't serve appetizers cold. My family and I went to Sunset grill and we had Loren as our waitress. She was incredibly attentive to all of our needs plus thought ahead for our small kiddos. The food was also delicious! My husband and I decided the salmon and the steak were some of the best food dishes we have ever had. We were recommended to this restaurant by multiple people. The views were amazing but when sitting outside we had to ask for a fly repellent versus it provided automatically. The crab dip was very good but I had the shrimp and crab meal over risotto. I love risotto and was very surprised how undercooked the rice was, to the point it was crunchy and unenjoyable. When I shared this with our server it was met with no compromise or resolution. Sad bc I think knowing that a dish that should be 5 stars is only 3 should have been impactful. Great drinks! First time here for this "local." It was quite good. We arrived on a Saturday morning just as it opened and we were seated outdoors at a table facing the boat slips. Very beautiful. I ordered El's Jumbo California Shrimp Salad Wrap, which came with French fries, and my wife had the Sunset Burger with the Ginger Scallion Noodles. We ordered mocktails (grapefruit and Sprite). Our server Jessica was attentive and informative and made the meal all the more enjoyable. Taste wise there were some notes but overall my wife really loved the burger and I thought the wrap was good (and tidy which is important to me) but was a little mild in flavor. The French fries were crispy-good. The stand out for me was the noodles I pilfered because my wife found them too spicy. The restaurant sits right on the water, with plenty of seating outside on two levels and inside dark, warm wood and dim lighting make for a luxurious feel. My understanding is that it can get quite busy. When we departed an hour later the outdoor bar was in full swing and the parking lot full. Overall, very good with a few notes of personal taste and an awareness that the menu entrees can run on the expensive side. While service was efficient our food order took a little longer than we expected but that might have been our seating right at the opening bell. Will go back. read more

This restaurant has a beautiful location right by the marina, but the food isn't spectacular. Also, the cleanliness of this place leaves a bit to be desired. We arrived here for an early dinner over the summer without a reservation. Luckily, we were seated immediately in the area right by the floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the water. Unluckily, we were bothered by buzzing noises and noticed the corner right by our table. There were about 5 or so flies hopping and flying around. My seat was so close to that corner and the flies would not leave my proximity. We had to ask for a new table closer to the interior of the restaurant after witnessing that disgustingness. The food was tasty and satisfying, yet nothing was truly amazing. My caesar salad was drowned in dressing, but the salmon was absolutely delicious. Portions were big and after managing to eat almost everything, we had no room for dessert. We took an after dinner stroll outside to take in the gorgeous sights. She had a caesar salad with blackened chicken, and I had the shrimp and crab salad. Both were excellent, and the portions were more than ample. For dessert, we shared their key lime pie, which is to die for! We were lucky, as the weather was perfect. Not too hot, with a really nice breeze. My gf brought her dog. If you sit outside, you can bring your dog. (She gobbled down a hamburger for her dinner.) One of the owners came by as we were leaving and asked us how we enjoyed our dinner. Very nice guy. I am giving them a 4 star because I think this place is way over priced. We were told it would be an hour wait and we didn't mind bc we could get drinks at the outside bar while we waited. It only wound up being 20 mins which was awesome. We got orange crushes outside and inside and they were all really good (I know it's Teasers outside and Sunset Grille inside). For food we got the crab dip with the pretzels, smaller portion than what I saw in pics on Yelp so I guess they downsized it and I believe it was $18. The dip was great but the pretzels seemed like they were just frozen ones cooked up quick and really weren't that soft. We both got the New York strip steak entree which was $42 I think. I thought this was pricy in my opinion. The steak was fine, nothing special. The broccolini was great and the loaded baked potato only had flavor bc of the toppings. Normally I can eat an entire potato skin and all but it was flavorless and dry so I didn't lol. The waiter (Skylar I think) was absolutely awesome. He was quick with drinks and getting our order and anything else we needed. I would give him 10 stars!! He also recommended other restaurants for us to try on our stay as we told him we were here for the week. And I know they were busy when we were there so it meant a lot for him to take time and have conversation with us and make great recommendations!! read more

My family visited for the last day of vacation. We wanted a nice sit down seafood dinner. The ambiance is amazing. Beautiful lighting, plants, right on the water, TVs if you want to view.. they have indoor seating and outdoor on 2 levels. We sat upstairs outside by the bar. Beautiful decor and fast service. We went on a Thursday during dinner and was told it would be about an hour wait. Which is fine bc I understand dinner rush during the summer. They are adjacent to a marina and it has benches outside where we waited and took nice pictures with the sunset. We were called in 20 minutes which was such a surprise bonus. Let's talk about the food. Every single thing that my party of 7 ordered was excellent, fresh, and high quality. Form ingredients to preparation was worthy of a 5 star review. We ordered NY strip steak, crab cakes, a lump crab and shrimp salad, quesadillas for the kids with fries, and a wonderful summer appetizer of fried green tomatoes with a Maryland blue crab remoulade. When I say everything was prepared to perfection it isn't an exaggeration. Crab was sweet and fresh, steak was a perfect sear and medium rare, crab cakes were flavorful and lumpy - I like them like that idk about others.. but even the fries for my children were seasoned properly and cooked until crispy ( I HATE SOGGY FRIES) Drinks were original and strong. Not strong where all you taste is alcohol.. strong where you sip it bc it tastes amazing then it hits.. slowlyyyy lol. We ordered margaritas and a passion fruit punch that came with an aloe leaf and was made with Tito's vodka which is so smooth and delicious! They even served us Shirley Temples' for our daughters! Service was impeccable. My waitress was clearly knowledgeable about the menu, the section she was working, and knew her job. Polite, answers all questions about menu items, and was available immediately if we needed refills or ketchup. She gave us options, choices about how we wanted the food to come out ( appetizers and kids food first). I love a hard worker who doesn't seem overworked or overwhelmed. Place was busy and height of dinner rush yet she was patient and polite throughout our meal- even when she seated a larger party after us. She made our family dinner stress free and enjoyable. When we come back to OC I will definitely make this a stop on our to do list. I am so impressed by this restaurant that I plan on telling all my friends, family, and co workers to give them their business bc it's so RARE these days to find a place that has good service, good quality food, and great location. Our #BrideTribe came here on our last night in OC (8/13/17) to celebrate the future (now) Mrs. and treat her to a fabulous dinner. I made a Saturday reservation a week in advance to ensure we had no issues and the only snag was that on the day of, we called to push back our reservation since we were all having such a great time at one of the bars near where we were staying and didn't want to leave. I called while we were floating in the water, sipping our cocktails and the woman who changed our reservation was very nice and accommodated us with not issue. We took our trusty Uber to the restaurant and were seated immediately upon arrival. The hosts were very sweet to us. Our server was also very nice. I want to stay her name was Helen but I could be wrong. She was a very sweet, blonde young woman and gave us great service all night. To be honest, all of the staff had really nice attitudes towards us. The guys bringing out the food were funny and everyone had big smiles on the entire night. We just about shut the place down because we all ordered almost everything on the menu during out late seating. We ordered a lot of appetizers for the table to share and we each ordered our own entrée and a dessert to share at the end. We were stuffed to say the least. Food Rundown: Lump Crab Special: they basically shoveled a pound or more of fresh lump crab meat onto a bowl, set in ice for us, along with an assortment of accoutrements including a mignonette, old bay and cocktail and tartar sauces. It was magical. Fried Green Tomatoes: this was served Napoleon style with a lump Crab remoulade because, why the hell not?! All things, yes... Caprese and Cesar Salads: both were prepared well. They tasted fresh. The cesar dressing was creamy as was the caprese mozz. We all had different entrées and everyone of us were silent during the main dish portion of our meal. You would have thought someone laced our food with tryptophan. The meats, seafood, sauces and sides were all delectable. I could not possibly tell you what we each had but at least I have pictures to prove it was magnificent. Four bottles of wine later and I mean, it's par for the course. We all shared a Toasted Almond Cake which was killer and our server was nice enough to indulge us with a little photo shoot sesh after dinner so that we would be able to commemorate the occasion. I am hoping to find my way back to OC because we had such a great time and I'm sure I will be visiting Sunset Grille in the future. Great food. Equally great service. read more

I got to say. J was disappointed that they ran out of the special Prime rib, but I predicted it upon ordering it at 8 Pm. I substituted the Chesapeake chicken and was not disappointed. My son had the 7oz filet and was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Jade our server was the best! She was on point, a little slow on the extra salad dressing, but always order a little more. Come here every year pre- Covid. Had read some reviews that it wasn't what it was prior and fully agree. We had an outdoor reservation and were seated promptly. The service was fine but felt rushed. The food is not the same. It was "fine" but we loved this place for grilled fish, higher end seafood and steak items and found the menu to have lots of sandwiches, only 3 specials (all sandwiches) and no regular grilled fish. I also understand shortages and inflation. I think this will be remedied in the future but for reference we had 2 beers, 1 cocktail, Caesar salad with chicken, crab cake dinner (nothing great), peel and eat shrimp (beyond chewy and cold) for $160 pre tax and tip. read more

Can we find some Gen Z service workers that don't act like it's an inconvenience to them for you to sit at the bar and pay to drink their awful drinks? $80 on lunch to listen to the lunch bartender complain majority of the time about how she was hungry, wanted a break, the bar was slow, etc. The bar was slow, and we still couldn't get waters refilled and the two drinks that we had were so bad it was laughable how little she cared. First off they give you a menu that does not have all the items on it the menu is deceiving I ordered something I did not want to order and then I'm looking around and I see other tables getting sandwiches which are a lot cheaper then there entrees but when they give you the menu the sandwiches are not on the menu so I ask the waiter and he is like oh yeah it's in the menu outside when you first walk in are you kidding me this is the most deceiving restaurant I have ever been to and I will never come back to this restaurant and the service was horrible the waiter was so fake and on top of it they charge you 6.99 for 4 rolls which should be free with your dinner and more butter then the rolls it's ridiculous such a rip off thanks for ruining my first night in ocean city Maryland read more

How can I complain the fish and chips lunch special is $7.99 with slaw ? (greasiness level was high) Why it might not be the greatest fish and chips I've ever had...the view of the boats in the Marina , being on the bay, and the breeze on the deck so makes up for the food. Crab dip wasn't the greatest but the warm soft pretzels served with the dip were good. Jen's pastrami melt looked really good. Loved being outside on the first day of Fall and it being 91 degrees. Yippee!! I would have liked to have eaten on the roof top but it was closed. I saw a great looking Cobb salad being served ... this is what I will order next time I'm at Sunset. read more

Let me first start off with the previous review about sitting outside, they were 100% accurate... We arrived and they sat us upstairs on the deck, once we were seated, I remembered seeing the review about sitting outside but it was too late.. I was sweating the entire time, but that is 100% out of the restaurants control, so it doesn't factor into my review. We started off with Blueberry Lemon Crushes, they were probably my favorite of all the crushes I've had this week. The lemon flavor was perfect and the berries were very fresh. For dinners I ordered the Halibut Imperial for my entree with the Asparagus for my side, and it was absolutely delicious. Loaded with Lump Crab Imperial stuffing, the risotto was very good and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. My partner ordered the Crab Cake Dinner, and he said it was only second to Harrison's on the Harbor. So I can definitely say the food is delicious. The only reason for giving a 4/5 would be the prices. They were considerably more than Harrison's by $7.00 for the Crab Cake dinner, and comparable, but still bested but those ones. They didn't give complimentary bread or anything, we did order the $3.99 4 Cheddar Biscuits, which were good, but I didn't think charging $4 for bread would be something necessary with a $34.00 meal and a $36.00 meal, but other than that, its fantastic. read more

Oh man I really liked this place but it fell short for silly reasons! The place is stunning but the night we came it was packed and we were told it would be an hour wait then when I got my text it was 60-80 minutes. So my party and I headed to the crowded bar and got some drinks. After a half hour bar seats opened so we decided to grab those and eat there. The bar tender while very nice did not give a lot of attention and all of our food came out at different times and my and husband's food came out over and hour after ordering. Cherry on top our table was ready in 40 minutes. The food was ok but tasted like it sat, we had to ask for it and once it came it was just given to us. We we're missing stuff but just ate it since the rest of our party ate 25 minutes ago. Dishes here are pricey and they just didn't treat us well. I don't see a return trip in the future because of this experience which is a shame because the food and the atmosphere had a lot of potential. read more
