Went in for happy hour just after 3 pm on a Monday after the holiday weekend. Busy already at the bar, lots of people eating. The restaurant was mostly empty so this was a mostly locals happy hour crowd for sure. Regular customer next to me pronounced the seasoned bartender the greatest of all time. We ordered a couple of house margaritas ($6.50) which came in a pint glass and were plenty strong. Only needed one of those! First up, crab dip. It came in a massive vessel, bubbling hot and lots of bread. This dish was so large I ate the leftovers three times. Big chunks of crab in a standard rich base. I brought rice crackers, but husband liked this plain bread better than the oily garlic toast that accompanied the mussels. Mussels were a big pile, with toast, in a mild broth. Not spectacular but a solid presentation. And finally, the boiled shrimp with old bay. Burning our fingers in our eagerness to peel and eat these babies, we got our fill for $10. Their cocktail sauce had an excellent texture, better than just ketchup and horseradish like some bars. Anyway, nice job and very economical! It makes perfect cents to go to Coins bar. We don't know what Alexa K. was talking about because there was no blasting of the music at Coins geriatric bar. It was a peaceful environment for our family to enjoy a cheap happy hour. Everyone was pleasantly surprised by the card dip with delicious freshly cut bread. Me and my husband shared an average margarita on the rocks. Entertainment wasn't anything special just a lot of sports TVs. In the off-season Coins is like Boston's Cheers. Friendly locals mix with weekend people or people like ourselves, who only come to our condo in the offseason. My wife has been telling me about this place for a few years now. She does business retreats, and they usually have 20-25 people that go there one night every year. I decided to join them this year to see what the fuss is about. For the atmosphere, it reminds me of your typical beach restaurant/bar with a good vibe. You can tell there are a lot of faithful locals who come here, especially since it was packed in the offseason. The band was playing and although it was hard to hear the people talking at the table, it was nice. They also have their own parking lot and there is additional parking, so it is easy to get in and find a spot. The food was good, but I did have a limited amount to really sample. I got their cream of crab soup that comes with two tiny crab balls in it. The flavor of the soup was extremely good, but the crab balls were a little dry. I was ok with that since they were sitting in the soup which helped. However, 2 other people at the table ordered the regular crab cakes and both said they were dry. My wife got the stuffed flounder, and it was very good as well. Service is usually outstanding as they have been getting the same waiter every year. They must have been short-staffed as he had to run all the food himself, as well as his regular duties so we could tell he was frustrated and struggling. I am not holding that against them as things happen. Overall, this is a place I will come back to and try other things on the menu. read more

I have been traveling to Ocean City Maryland all of my life and my dinner at Coins was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. I was told that the clams were little necks, but they were in fact the small kind you might find in a Chinese restaurant buffet. I should've sent them back. The jumbo fried shrimp were not jumbo and my perception was that they were the flat kind you get frozen in a box. Mixed vegetables were served raw. The baked potato was small and had brown spots inside. Nothing was good at all other than the steamed shrimp appetizer we had. The rest was lousy, and the place is a dump. Not recommended at all. Me and my family went to Coins to order To-Go food for our family and get some drinks while we waited. Upon being greeted, the server/bartender almost seemed annoyed that we were even sitting in his section. We asked the host if everything was okay for us to sit there and order, and she agreed. We were rushed in placing our drinks and order. I try to order the "I'm Your Huckleberry Chicken", but I am not a fan of grilled chicken so I ask if I can get it fried instead. The bartender bluntly says no, with no explanation. So I figured I'd order something else. As he is making our drinks, I find that most of the items on their menu include fried products, so I figured I'd ask again just to see. When he comes back with our drinks, I ask again if its possible, since they do fried flounder, fried shrimp, calamari, fried chicken nuggets, fried chicken cutlet, etc. But again, "no, because they'd have to pull out the stuff to fry it". Which makes me think, none of their food is made fresh to order. It's definitely pre-made products. Anyways, I end up ordering a burger, medium-rare, which came back medium-well. We arrive back home with our To-Go food, and the fries of everyone's meals were cold, the food was mediocre at best, and we were missing a couple of items. Just to add, the environment is very loud and really only fun if your 6 shots in. The music was some random man on what looked like a makeshift bike, rambling out the lyrics to old 80's songs that aren't even that good to be singing. We visited Coins in Ocean City, Maryland on a Friday night during the off-season. It was super busy, but we were seated right away. There was a live band playing, and they were really good, adding to the atmosphere without being overwhelming. We started with the ahi tuna, which was absolutely delicious with the Thai sauce, and also tried the French onion soup, which was absolutely to die for--rich, cheesy, and full of flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the prime rib, cooked perfectly and served with mixed vegetables, including broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. My guest ordered the seafood fettuccine, and she raved about it from the first bite to the last. Portions were generous, and our server, Jess, was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the busy night. This is a more local vibe bar and restaurant. We came in with a large party that they accommodated. Service was slow but it was a big group. The scallops were so salty they were almost inedible. At first glance, you wouldn't think this place is anything special. You would be wrong. The food is delicious - we've ordered a huge variety from here and always been thrilled with our choices. The service is also top notch - they ask your name when you sit down and actually remember it (which makes them infinitely better than I will ever be in the service industry). Nikki (spelling is probably wrong) was our server on a Friday night and she was friendly and attentive. Jimmy (could also be misspelled) was the bartender/server when we were there on a Saturday, and he was great. This was a wonderful discovery, a friendly neighborhood bar with exceptional food. Visiting OC for the first time in winter we didn't find much open, thankfully they were and very close to our hotel. The staff and regulars were welcoming and friendly. There were many draft beer selections, with good choices. The happy hour and food specials were great. The steamed clams and shrimp were cooked perfectly and tasty. We also really emjoyed the crabcake, which was full of lump meat. The shrimp parmesan was also done well. Soup was Luke warm and could hang off my spoon without falling off like a pasty substance gravy, not a soup.

My parents used to love to come here on vacation every year. They would even go here twice in the same week sometimes. My husband and I didn't really care for it that much, but we came here to get a meal with them, and the crab cakes used to be pretty decent. I decided to order the crab cake with a side of pasta and a garden salad. The crab cake definitely seems like there's more filler in it than it used to be, it was a little mushy and not that hot. The fettuccine Alfredo pasta was bland. My moms pasta was watery. My husband wasn't impressed with his flatbread he got either. The only thing that was somewhat decent was the salad. You also have to pay for bread now- it used to be free. I thought my parents said they were done with this place once it switched to new owners and they said it wasn't good anymore. Best Sports Bar in OC What's not to like about Coins? Super friendly locals in a cozy bar with quality food. Very good crab options. Great spot to catch a game on a Sunday. They have specials daily and live music. We went down for a biker festival weekend. This place was busy but a bit quieter than the loud biker haunts. I've heard a lot about Coins and was excited to finally try it for myself. We came.late Saturday and there was a band playing. The vibes were definitely fun! The drink menu had frozen drinks so I was happy! We opted for bites tonight instead of a meal. The homemade mozzarella sticks, twisted caprese, shark bites and crab dip were some of the best appetizers I've had in a while. I definitely want to come back for the dinners and burgers. Visited during happy hour and enjoyed the cheap drinks and food at the bar. Some of their best cocktails are from a tap dispenser and were delicious. Nikki was our bartender and was on point juggling the bar and food orders quickly and accurately. She was really good. A group of us had dinner and Sasha was our server. They were very busy but quickly took our orders and the kitchen was perfect. We had scallops steak and blackened salmon which were all delicious and enough for dinner. At 39 I now know the key to a good day drinking experience is starting early (also having some delicious food in your stomach). Coins helped us with this. I was struggling a bit from the night before but they Bloody Mary brought me back to life. It was delicious. I started with the Maryland Crab Soup. Wow! It was flavorful with lots of meat and served hot (perfect on a cold windy day) I then had an order of wings with buffalo sauce on the side (I'm a dipper and it keeps the wings crispy). My mom had the burger and thought it was delicious. The fries were awesome. Our bartender was friendly, helpful, very attentive. They even have KENO! It is a little dark inside but nothing too crazy. Our waiter was great but the food was not so much. There was a lot of hype about this place as being a locals favorite. The food was average. We had wings, cheese sticks, chicken fingers, and fries. Everything was just average. The one thing that I really didn't like was on the kids meal. It states the drink is included with only 1 refill. That's understandable but when I received the check my daughter's drink was on the bill. I asked the server about it and he said since he gave her a normal size cup instead of a kids cup it didn't count. We ordered the drinks before we ordered our meal so I would say this is his mistake not ours. I had a few beers so in my opinion they should have taken it off. Also, don't let the outside fool you. Add a couple glasses of the dry acidity and crispness found in the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, which is offered by the glass, and all is well. I mean, yeah, the shrimp was horrible worse than frozen It must be super cheap frozen that you buy and cook, at least that you know what you're getting. The tomatoes were old and mealy. The Star of it The only shining light was the sauce that you could buy at any grocery store, bang bang. Now I want you to know about the service. Our waitress had a big old attitude of how great the place is when we asked what she would recommend. I'm not sure what customer doesn't come in and say, Hey, what would you recommend? But I guess that struck her as odd that we would question anything, right? So anyway, if you're looking for a place to get drunk, act, drunk and eat horrible food. This is your place.
