Cream of crab soup wtih two crab balls
    Harris H.

My wife has been telling me about this place for a few years now. She does business retreats, and they usually have 20-25 people that go there one night every year. I decided to join them this year to see what the fuss is about. For the atmosphere, it reminds me of your typical beach restaurant/bar with a good vibe. You can tell there are a lot of faithful locals who come here, especially since it was packed in the offseason. The band was playing and although it was hard to hear the people talking at the table, it was nice. They also have their own parking lot and there is additional parking, so it is easy to get in and find a spot. The food was good, but I did have a limited amount to really sample. I got their cream of crab soup that comes with two tiny crab balls in it. The flavor of the soup was extremely good, but the crab balls were a little dry. I was ok with that since they were sitting in the soup which helped. However, 2 other people at the table ordered the regular crab cakes and both said they were dry. My wife got the stuffed flounder, and it was very good as well. Service is usually outstanding as they have been getting the same waiter every year. They must have been short-staffed as he had to run all the food himself, as well as his regular duties so we could tell he was frustrated and struggling. I am not holding that against them as things happen. Overall, this is a place I will come back to and try other things on the menu.

We stopped in for a business dinner after work. We were sat immediately and our waitress was excellent. Helpful and friendly. We had crab cakes, cream of crab soup, steamed shrimp, and crab dip. All of it was outstanding. The soup was one of the best I have ever had. I really liked all the Christmas decorations. I thought they were fun.

We visited Coins in Ocean City, Maryland on a Friday night during the off-season. It was super busy, but we were seated right away. There was a live band playing, and they were really good, adding to the atmosphere without being overwhelming. We started with the ahi tuna, which was absolutely delicious with the Thai sauce, and also tried the French onion soup, which was absolutely to die for--rich, cheesy, and full of flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the prime rib, cooked perfectly and served with mixed vegetables, including broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. My guest ordered the seafood fettuccine, and she raved about it from the first bite to the last. Portions were generous, and our server, Jess, was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the busy night. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely come again.

This is a more local vibe bar and restaurant. We came in with a large party that they accommodated. Service was slow but it was a big group. The scallops were so salty they were almost inedible. Everyone raved about their crab cakes which I know they are famous for. My boyfriend had the flounder which he said was just average.

We are back at our local Ocean City stopming ground because of the service food and atmosphere Good Ole Coin this is our destination always when we are in ocean City! On today's cusine adventure the family team ordered a array of culinary delights starting with Pub Burger and Cole slaw, kids cheese Burger and French fries, Cream of Crab Cake, Prime Rib and Bakes potatoe and the lobster and Shrimp Mac and Cheese. And a order of Baltimore Ball delicious crab ball around a shrimp fried to perfection. No they would have been more pleasing to.my palette is the Balls had less breading, if the soup was hotter but the soup is a stellar staple here! The Prime rib was tender enough to cut it with a butter knife and the burger was average but the quiet standout was the cold slaw overall after dining here for year they have co sisterly performed stellar see ya next pit stop.. Kitchen Kudos......

At first glance, you wouldn't think this place is anything special. You would be wrong. The food is delicious - we've ordered a huge variety from here and always been thrilled with our choices. The service is also top notch - they ask your name when you sit down and actually remember it (which makes them infinitely better than I will ever be in the service industry). Nikki (spelling is probably wrong) was our server on a Friday night and she was friendly and attentive. Jimmy (could also be misspelled) was the bartender/server when we were there on a Saturday, and he was great. Offered awesome suggestions, was on top of drink refills for everyone, and was also hilarious. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

This was a wonderful discovery, a friendly neighborhood bar with exceptional food. Visiting OC for the first time in winter we didn't find much open, thankfully they were and very close to our hotel. The staff and regulars were welcoming and friendly. There were many draft beer selections, with good choices. The happy hour and food specials were great. The steamed clams and shrimp were cooked perfectly and tasty. We also really emjoyed the crabcake, which was full of lump meat. The shrimp parmesan was also done well. If this place was back in our home city, we'd be regulars for sure. When we come back to OC, we'll come back to Coins!

    Crab cake with fettuccine Alfredo

My parents used to love to come here on vacation every year. They would even go here twice in the same week sometimes. My husband and I didn't really care for it that much, but we came here to get a meal with them, and the crab cakes used to be pretty decent. I decided to order the crab cake with a side of pasta and a garden salad. The crab cake definitely seems like there's more filler in it than it used to be, it was a little mushy and not that hot. The fettuccine Alfredo pasta was bland. My moms pasta was watery. My husband wasn't impressed with his flatbread he got either. The only thing that was somewhat decent was the salad. You also have to pay for bread now- it used to be free. I thought my parents said they were done with this place once it switched to new owners and they said it wasn't good anymore. But somehow we ended up there again. Hopefully this was our last time for good.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Fager's Island!!…read more I rarely leave a negative review, but our experience at Fager's Island in Ocean City, Maryland, was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share it. We had made a reservation specifically to dine in the fine-dining section upstairs. My wife arrived before me because I had to park the car, and she was already seated upstairs when I entered the restaurant. When I went upstairs to find my wife, I was immediately confronted by an older woman who I believe was associated with the ownership or management. Instead of politely asking if she could help me, she rudely said, "What are you doing here?" I explained that my wife was already upstairs and that we had a reservation. She repeatedly ordered me to go downstairs and speak with the front desk before coming upstairs. I did exactly that, only to be told by the front desk that we had been seated on the lower level, despite my reservation being for the fine-dining section upstairs. When I explained this, my concern was essentially dismissed. Unfortunately, the poor treatment continued at the table. Our waitress took approximately 15 minutes just to come over and ask if we wanted something to drink. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, and when it arrived, we proceeded to order our food. While waiting, I turned one of the chairs slightly so my wife could sit comfortably while I took a picture of her with the beautiful water view behind her. The waitress rudely told me, "You can't turn the chair and take my chair." The attitude was completely unnecessary and made us feel uncomfortable as customers. Then came the food. I ordered my steak medium, It arrived well done. Given my experience as a restaurant owner, the steak appeared to me as though it may have been prepared ahead of time and reheated. My wife ordered the fish, which was described to us as fresh caught. Unfortunately, her fish was also overcooked. We did not make a scene. We politely explained the problem to our waitress and asked that both meals be corrected so we could enjoy our dinner together. Instead of simply correcting the problem, the waitress returned with my steak cut open in the middle and told me that the chef said it was cooked perfectly. It wasn't. I explained again that I had ordered it medium to medium-well and that it was well done. I politely asked them to remake it. I also asked that my wife's fish be remade so we could eat together. My steak came back first, but then my wife had to wait another approximately 10 minutes for her fish. At this point, what should have been a nice dinner had become an extremely frustrating experience. Mistakes happen in restaurants. That's not the issue. A steak can be overcooked. Fish can be overcooked. Orders can occasionally take longer than expected. What matters is how a restaurant treats its customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, we experienced rudeness, dismissive behavior, poor communication, disappointing service, and food that was not prepared as ordered. I came to Fager's Island expecting an enjoyable fine-dining experience and instead left extremely disappointed. For the prices they charge and the reputation they have, I expected much better. I would not recommend Fager's Island based on our experience. There are plenty of restaurants in Ocean City where customers can spend their money and be treated with courtesy and respect. Fager's Island: beautiful location, but our experience with the service, attitude, and food was simply not acceptable.

Then someone directed us toward the back, where we discovered a huge outdoor restaurant. What a fun, totally hidden place! The floor is sand, the tables and decor are colorful, there are trinkets hanging everywhere and there's even a shipwreck themed play area in the back where kids can explore while waiting for their food. It has a laid-back beach vibe that's hard not to enjoy. Then there's the view. You're right on the bay, watching boats, birds, and people fishing. Oddly enough, seagulls really weren't a problem. The only one I saw patiently waited for a table to leave, then elegantly hopped into the sand, walked underneath the table, and grabbed a lone French fry. Smart bird. Service was attentive, the food was good, and the drinks were okay. I've had better cocktails elsewhere in Ocean City, but my mojito was refreshing. One thing that did annoy me was the cocktail menu. There were no prices listed anywhere. I asked our waitress up front, and she said most cocktails were around $10-$12, which is reasonable these days. So... why hide the prices? I know restaurants often leave prices off online menus because they want you to come in. But once I'm sitting at the table with a menu in my hand, just tell me what everything costs. One standout entree was the fried shrimp basket. Those shrimp had a delicious seasoning that really made the dish. The fish and chips was another winner...classic, tasty and well executed. The steamed clams were fresh, but on the small side. There wasn't any broth, butter, or sauce either...just a dozen small steamed clams. The crab cake sandwich was tasty, although we've had better ones elsewhere in Ocean City for about the same price. Overall, Fish Tales is a very fun place for lunch or dinner. It's about as casual as it gets. Plastic chairs, your feet in the sand, boats cruising along, kids playing on a shipwreck, and a great view of the bay.
