After a pretty disappointing first experience at Sunset Mona Lisa last year, I honestly never expected to return. But to their credit, F&B GM Manuel Herrera personally reached out after my review, invited us back, and completely changed the experience for us. I really respect when a restaurant takes feedback seriously instead of getting defensive, and it says a lot that they genuinely wanted to make things right. Glad we gave it another chance! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and attention to detail were noticeable. Manuel went out of his way to make our dinner feel special, and we appreciated meeting Hector as well. Service throughout the evening was attentive, thoughtful, and warm. And of course, the setting speaks for itself -- the sunset views over the Sea of Cortez are stunning. Highlights: * Focaccia: still amazing * Dairy-free rolls: addictive -- I had four * Bone marrow & yellowfin tuna: excellent balance of truffle without overpowering the dish * Pacific seafood: maybe our favorite course of the night. Beautiful hints of vanilla, and the octopus + scallop were cooked perfectly * Steak tartare: definitely an improvement from our last visit * Agnolotti del plum: somehow even better than last time. Huge win * Josper grill shrimp: insanely good with the mole (a swap from the tzatziki due to my dairy allergy)I practically licked the plate clean * Coconut sponge cake with berry caviar: unique, flavorful, and a great ending to the meal Only miss for us: * Kampachi: the one dish that fell a bit flat. Felt like it needed more acidity and salt
what a lovely experience the other night (Mon 6/22) with server Daniel & his partner! first of all, the ocean view is amazing of course. Not only that, but the food was tasty & the service/experience was spectacular. The portions are small, do keep that in mind. Everything is so thought out for the diner's comfort-from the umbrellas to provide shade, to the live music. They offer a-la-carte menus, 3/5/7 course menus, & an extensive beverage menu. Only a 10 minute Lyft from our hotel in Medano beach too!
We had an amazing dinner at Sunset Monalisa and I am so thankful for the experience to have dined there. The food is excellent and the views and vibe of the entire restaurant just add to the incredible experience! Our waiters Edgar and Adrian did a wonderful job at making sure we were enjoying every moment!! Again, the food....wow!! Every bite, every detail was thought out and delicious!! The cocktails...while on the expensive side...amazing!! We loved the presentation of "Lust" and the taste was perfect! The sunset tribute with the conch shell was beautiful! I am going to remember this dining experience for a very long time!
Sunset Monalisa in Cabo is straight out of a romantic movie. The view is unreal cliffs, the Arch, the ocean, and that sunset hitting just right. Best time to go is definitely sunset... trust me!!! The vibe is pure romance. Calm, elegant, intimate. Just being there already feels special. Food is delicious, drinks are on point, and everything tastes better when you're sitting in a place this beautiful. No wonder it's considered one of the most romantic restaurants in the world. Bonus tip: ask for the bottom table by the fireplace. That's the spot!! perfect view, perfect vibe. And if you have a drone, bring it... you'll get unreal shots and pictures that look like a movie scene. This place hits different.
This place offers stunning view of the Pacific Ocean along with the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. The arch is a bit far out but definitely visible when the weather condition is good. We made reservation with the premium seating and received a table right next to the edge without any other table between us and the view. It was truly amazing. The service was good too as one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The food is more subjective. I think the food was fine, not bad nor amazing but fine. We had the 3 course tasting menu with another 6 course tasting menu. Most of the dishes were fine but the grilled octopus was disappointing. It was rather bland without much of char taste. Overall I think it is still worth a visit for the view.
Sunset Monalisa is absolutely stunning--no doubt about it! The view is breathtaking and easily one of the best in Cabo, even though we visited during hurricane season. My husband made reservations, and the staff were very accommodating when we needed to change the date. The restaurant is incredibly romantic and truly feels like a special experience. We even watched a couple get engaged right next to us, and the server went above and beyond by helping record the moment and take photos. The food was spot on and definitely worth the price, especially when paired with the view. This isn't one of those expensive places with a great setting but bland food--everything from the vibe to the flavors was on point. An unforgettable experience!
Absolutely loved my experience at Monalisa in Cabo San Lucas. The ambiance was beautiful, the view overlooking the water was unreal, and the overall atmosphere felt so romantic and upscale. The food completely met my expectations and everything tasted amazing. From the service to the scenery, the entire experience felt special. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Cabo.
We had a great experience at this restaurant celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary. The service we received was outstanding. We were checked upon by Jasmine and Manuel who ensured we had a great table. The 3 course meal was great and just right for us. The ambience and the overall atmosphere is a 10 out of 10. We will definitely be back here on our next trip to Cabo, I would recommend anyone to come here and enjoy the beautiful views and make sure you're here for sunset. The pricing is comparable to LA, however, the service and overall ambience is great. We were looked after by Adrian and he was awesome.
Amazing views. Locals seemed to come for the views, pictures, and drinks only. Next time would do the same. We were surprised to be able to make reservations on the day before. This weekend was mostly overcast and sometimes even raining and the weather cleared up so we got to see beautiful views. They even sat us at an oceanfront table, but the glass is quite opaque and you can't see through it if you're right next to it. As the sun was going down it was so cold that we needed to move inside. They do have some small blankets but it isn't enough for the cold and both a heater and blankets would have been nice. It felt a little bit sparse for a restaurant with four decades of history on prime real estate; we understand those parties with events get priority for blankets and stoves but there should be enough to go around. We ordered: Scallops: 5/5 decent and perfectly cooked! Oysters: 1/5 salty and overly doused in cheese or some other sauce. Only the oyster with 2 pieces of truffle would have been perfect! Red snapper: 0/5 triple the price of the one at the office and a third of the size. Beef ravioli: 3/5 this one is one of the better items to order, good meat to pasta ratio in the ravioli, also topped with truffles Australian wagyu (16oz): 1/5 a crazy size for one person, definitely shareable but that's pretty much the only upside to it. It was charred to a point of toughness beyond "well done" despite us asking for "medium," a disrespect to Wagyu. All around the table our favorite thing to eat was the mashed sweet potato. Everything was served somewhat cold. Overall I'm not even sure if this can be considered Mediterranean cuisine, because that would have dips and tzatziki and lots of vegetables. Overall this reminds me of the grand view restaurant in San Jose: nice for views but the food is not something I would pay for otherwise, but worse because you can't really see through the windows. Go for the drinks/bar instead and take lots of pictures!
The view is amazing!!! I went for my birthday dinner while I was in Cabo for a solo trip. They were very kind. I did the 6 course dinner. A lot of variety. It wasn't necessarily the most flavorful thing I've ever eaten but I enjoyed trying new things. They had live music playing outside. Then when I was done I was able to go upstairs to the live jazz session in the adjacent restaurant.
Sunset Monalisa is undeniably beautiful. The views are absolutely phenomenal--one of the best sunset settings in Cabo--and the restaurant itself is elegant and romantic, making it feel very special. Reservations now require a per-person fee (starting around $25 and increasing depending on the table tier), and that fee does not apply toward your bill. The menu is also prix fixe, with three courses starting around $100 per person and higher pricing for additional courses. While the food is well prepared and beautifully presented, the overall cost feels steep compared to what it used to be. That said, this is absolutely a place to visit for a celebration--a first date, birthday, anniversary, or bachelorette party. It's not an every-week restaurant, but for a special occasion, the atmosphere and views make it memorable.

What an experience!! My husband took me here one of the nights to have dinner while watching the sunset. The place has beautiful views as you can see in the pictures. The service was beyond expectations. Everyone was amazing but our servers Fernando and Alberto were an 11/10. They made our experience to be perfect in every way. They were friendly, professional and attentive. My husband and I did the 5 course experience and we got a bottle of Verdejo. I was so full after - I couldn't even finish the last dish! We got an appetizer by the chef not included in the menu, then scallops (bomb!), handmade pasta with truffle and infused parmesan (my favorite), sea bass, short rib and crème brûlée for dessert. They brought us focaccia with Parmesan on top and truffle butter. All this truffle made my heart very happy. The ambiance is super nice. We had reservations around the time the sun was setting however we arrived late so we missed the sunset. I understand it's a night time restaurant but it would be nice to have better lighting. I'm just a person that like to see their food. We paid extra to sit by the water which was nice. They also did fireworks which was nice as well. We did the different courses which is not usual but it was a decent experience. Some of like some I did not. Bathroom could've been better, there was no soap no water. Very nice restaurant to try. I Prob wouldn't try it again though. read more

This is a beautiful setting for a sunset dinner with amazing food, service and VIEWS! From the beginning, we could see they had a great staff that was all friendly and well trained, and we would have a great time for our anniversary. We opted for the 5-course menu with the fillet upgrade. All the dishes were well thought out, expertly executed, and flavorful without ever being overbearing. The scallops with corn relish were amazing, the pasta with truffles was a great way to showcase the truffle without distractions. Then we had the catch of the day, it was delicate, light, and just yummy. The fillet was cooked to the right temperature and was beautiful. We did have a parade of desserts, with a palette cleanser, the dessert that was part of our order, then a special dessert for the anniversary, and finally the little box of chocolates. I'm not a dessert person but everything was really good. The meal was well spaced out, so we didn't feel stuffed and enjoyed the bottle of wine and going from sundown to dark. read more

Visited for birthday dinner in Cabo. Made reservations online and you must pay a reservation fee. We paid for seating closer to the beach view are for $25 deposit per person. The deposit is applied to your meal which is a set menu in which you choose your courses. The courses are well presented. The food was not the most flavorful and portion sizes are small (see pics) with a minimum $100 cost per person for dinner. While staff was courteous service was slow and waited between courses. The evening in April was chilly and the restaurant has heaters throughout as well as blankets on the chairs to wrap yourself which was a nice touch. There is live music and photo opportunity by their photographer. The photos will be offered to you during dinner and are digital sent via AirDrop (iPhone). The pictures captured the beautiful setting but a little costly. @sharpandsoundstyle $$$ There is complimentary valet available. read more

my family and I travel to Sunset Monte Lisa to experience a seven course fine dining meal. We had a party of a brown eight individuals who chose to do the five course meal instead of the seven course meal. Due to the fact that our party was so large we were unable to get our seven course because everyone had to order the same thing. My partner and I were very disappointed in this because we were looking forward to the seven courses. I was really impressed with the ambience we came very late in the afternoon and they provided blankets for the entire table. The food was plenty and they explained every meal to us. We paid around $450 total with tip. I would say this is an experience and likely we would not be traveling to frequent. read more

This was the most amazing restaurant / dining experience I've ever had. I've dined all over the United Sates, several places in Europe, and been coming to Cabo area for 20+ years. I have enjoyed great dining experiences at many highly-rated steak and seafood places in the US, thanks to business travel. My wife and I have tried many of the farm to table restaurants in Cabo and San Jose but I'm also very happy with street tacos and beer while staying in Cabo. So, it took some convincing by wife to drag me to Sunset Monalisa and I wasn't expecting much. However, it turned into the best all around dining experience I've ever had. The view, as advertised, is stunning and we had perfect weather at the perfect time of day to watch the sun settled behind land's end. The food was Michelin quality. We had the 3 course menu, with upgrade to filet and snapper. The steak was on par with great American steak houses and the snapper was the most delicious fish I've ever had. Very fresh and light with a hint of wood fired smokiness against local spices. The service (Alejandro and Victor) was impeccable, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. All that would have been plenty for a top rated experience, but wait there's more. They had live entertainment that was brilliant. They had a tenor and soprano singer serenading with light opera tunes like Andrea Bocelli. After the singers, there was a live jazz/pop band, with excellent musicians, that provided the perfect musical ambiance against the sound of the crashing waves. I'm hesitant to publish this because I want to be able to get a reservation next time I'm in town but this is an iconic experience that others should enjoy. read more

Celebrated a close friend's birthday dinner while in Cabo and wow, the views are absolutely breathtaking, ESPECIALLY at sunset. I've never experienced a place like this. You have a beautiful view of the ocean, The Arch of Cabo, and the sky. Perfect for pictures! Outdoor seating and everything is very clean Our party of 16 decided on the Chef's Menu, which costs $143 USD (December 2021). 7 courses; 6 dishes + dessert, palette cleanser, and bread. The dishes were Bluefin Tuna, Foie Gras Terrine, Truffle Pasta, Crispy Duck Confit, Totoaba, Wagyu beef tenderloin, and Gianduja and Hazelnut for dessert. With a paleta/popsicle in between as a palette cleanser. My favorite dishes were: -Bluefin Tuna, which tasted fresh, came in a hearty portion, and had just enough ponzu -Duck Confit because of the crispy outside -Totoaba (fish), which was cooked nicely and had a soft texture -Wagyu beef - although the pieces were very small, it was cooked perfectly I'm not sure if this counts but they gave us a popsicle as a "palette cleanser" before dessert and it was so refreshing. I also kept reaching for the bread. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. The other dishes tasted just okay in my opinion and some flavors and textures weren't for me, like the Foie Gras Terrine and Truffle Pasta. The truffle pasta caught my table off guard because the other table in our party, got the pasta before us and told us that the pasta was amazing and tasted so good. When we tried it, we didn't like it. It was missing flavor and tasted bland, also our plates looked different from each others. Since we had leftovers of this specific dish, our server Alberto, asked us our opinion on why we didn't like it and explained that our thoughts were very important to the chef. I definitely appreciated that attention. Everything as a whole was amazing though. The views, the service, especially from Alberto, and the fireworks during dessert was a beautiful touch. They sang to the birthday celebrant, took pictures for us, and consistently checked up on us. I would give this a 3.5. Pros: the view is amazing, I like the sunset demonstration with conches (cheesy I know) Cons: the service is spotty, while some of the dishes are amazing, not enough of them on the 7 course meals If I came back I would do the a la carte and start with either the bluefin tuna or mission figs, then get the truffle pasta and try a dessert that was not the gianduja and hazelnut. That said, I'm not sure that those dishes warrants $92 for a meal. Drinks: Hiding in the forest - they were out of the cool bird glasses but my husband enjoyed. Strong but didn't last long. Blossoming Garden: I love that it comes in a tea kettle. I felt like the drink went on forever because of the small tea cup they gave it to me in. Really enjoyed the flavors. We had such a great experience at the remarkable restaurant. Firstly, I just want to say, it is a beautiful layout with everyone sitting out on an expanded patio with multiple different levels overlooking the sea. Romantic! But I went with family. The goal is to catch the Sunset, and we missed it... but it didn't make the night any less magical. The food was very good. We had a panel of items that night from the truffle pasta (2/5) ravioli (4/5) and oysters (4/5) then moved to the entrees with prawns (4/5) and the lamb filet (5/5). We also had the luxury tequila flight where their host tequilologist gave us the history of the tequilas and advised us on how to drink them. It was a cold day and everyone had blankets provided by the restaurant which was the icing on the cake! And staff made sure the properly place heaters going out of their way to make sure we were happy. The whole experience was amazing. Just an experience. When I do come back to Cabo, I will be back here to catch the sunset, that is for sure!! read more

What cannot I not say about Sunset Monalisa. I am so thrilled to review this restaurant. This restaurant dots all the i's and crosses all the t's. The Mediterranean vibe here is absolutely a true representation of Greece. Upon entry we're greeted by 3 beautiful hostess that informed us that we have premium seating. We we're lead past the cigar stand where Cuban cigars are plentiful. We continued pass the main level of outside diners down a few steps to an expansive view of the ocean and the cabo arch in the distance. The restaurant has many private and intimate areas for dining. Premium seating consisted of front row cliff side seating view of the ocean. Heat lamps, fire pits and blankets are plentiful if your date catches a chill. We arrived here around 5:30pm for the most amazing sunset. The menu options consisted of a 3 course a la carte option or 2 prix fixe 5-7 course selections for meat eaters and or vegetarians. The drinks are exceptional. The live band was awesome. This restaurant is a true dining experience on multiple levels of romance. Customer service is top notch, plate presentation is impeccable and explanation of each course by our waiter was phenomenal. We witnessed 2 marriage proposals. Simply amazing! Great food, great service and the view is amazing. Make sure to be there for sunset - not only is the view epic, but they "celebrate" sunset in a very memorable ceremony. Good food, great ambiance, but beware of price gouging. 484 MX for 2 bottles of water, really? There was also a mandatory 25% gratuity for premium tables. They now offer only the 7 course menu, no more 5 course sets. 7848 MX ($392 USD) for a meal for two with only 1 glass of wine seemed a bit excessive even for a notorious tourist trap. We chose the Chef's Menu ($143 USD each) and were very impressed with most the food. Duck confit was perfect: thin crispy skin and tender delish meat beneath. Foie Gras terrine was great, buttery and smooth with barely a hint of its usual gamey taste. Truffle pasta lived up to the Yelpers' billings. Blue fin tuna and the seabass were adequate. Australian wagyu tenderloin was tender but no where near the typical Japanese wagyu texture, also some of the edges were charred black and dry. The bread was fantastic and served with soft butter. I ordered a glass of 2018 Anxelin cabernet but the server poured from a 2019 bottle. Ambiance was fantastic as guests can enjoy the view of the ocean, the Lands End, the Arch of Cabo and the sunset to boot. We witnessed 2 marriage proposals during our meal. Building a restaurant on top of uneven rocks perched on a jagged cliff was also quite an architectural wonder. read more

Wow, where to begin! I don't give too many 5 star reviews, but had to in this instance. I booked dinner here for me and my wife's anniversary. I have traveled extensively and this had to be one of the most spectacular dining vistas I have ever had the pleasure to witness. Perfect view? Definitely, but what about the food? Simply superb! The menu is all Prix Fixe, which I'm never usually a fan of, however the selection and execution of the dishes was outstanding. They offered a 3, 5, and 7-course dinner. We went with the 5 course ($115 pp) and also ordered a bottle of wine, a Mexican Sauvignon Blanc that was lightly refreshing albeit somewhat acidic. Each food course was beautifully plated and a treat for the senses. Delicious, refined, and just special. We reserved a table for two oceanside (at the end of the dining deck). Service was excellent! I believe we were there apx 2-1/2 hours. I would not usually spend this amount of money on a dinner, but the total experience was worth every penny! read more

Incredible views. There's no denying that and that's what you're paying for when you dine here. The restaurant itself is spectacular and it feels like you're dining in Greece or something with all of the white walls. The beginning of our meal felt a little too sales-y to me. They were trying to get us to buy $26 cocktails and I gave in and got the "You are my sunshine" drink off the Power of Nature menu. One of the guys came around with an iPad and started telling us how they crafted these cheesy names and you can even listen to the bird sounds off the iPad. How ridiculous is that! If I could do it over again, I would skip the BS menu and get straight to the real drink menu. We got the 5-course menu which is $115 per person. In other words, it ain't cheap here. It started with the baja kampachi which was decent. The truffle pasta was probably the best dish with the pasta cooked al dente. The duck confit was way too salty. I thought the totoaba was good (good portion) and I enjoyed the chileatole sauce. The flexible chocolate is a weird way to name your dish and it just felt like glorified store candy arranged nicely on a plate. Would I say the food here is worth it? Probably not. It's 100% evident you're paying for the view here. read more

The setting is THE REASON to dine here. It will cost you an additional $25 per person to sit at a table right on the edge of a cliff looking out over the ocean. You will have amazing sunset views. The food is delicious but occasionally a miss. The arugula, burrata, peach, avocado salad was a little wilted, yet still tasted, balanced. For the main course, the beef cheek was tender. It could have used a little more potato underneath to soak up the juices. Finishing with the peach almond dessert was very sweet, but excellent. The service was lovely and the views even lovelier I would recommend dining here as a special occasion. read more

I couldn't complete my Cabo reviews without reviewing Sunset Monalisa. This restaurant is known for its picturesque views and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I enjoyed 5 courses facing the sunset on rocky cliffs right in front of the ocean. It was absolutely a stunning sight, especially when watching the sun set in real time. The service was extraordinary. Our server was very attentive and walked us through each course in a very detailed manor. The food was quite delicious. After the sun set, the temperatures dropped, but the servers made sure to place heaters next to tables and even provided us with warm blankets. This is truly a romantic experience that one needs to have when in Cabo! read more

This place has by far had the most beautiful, breathtaking view. My husband took me here for our anniversary and everything was so perfect. We arrived before sunset, so the sun was hot and beaming but they accommodated by placing an umbrella for some shade, which was later removed for a beautiful view of the sunset. The service was great! The food was amazing! The price was great for the beautiful experience. read more
