    Ham and cheese croissant
    Sammy M.

I just love this little shop so much. Not only is their food absolutely delicious (and fresh) but they are so kind. The shop owners are so sweet and caring towards their customers. These are hands down the best donuts in Sacramento and every time I bring them to an event, people rave about them and ask where I bought them. They are super fresh and flavorful. My favorite is their maple old fashioned which is super crispy around the edges. Also, don't sleep on their breakfast croissant sandwiches. Incredible value and the best breakfast sandwich in town. I get the ham and cheese with an over easy egg (pictured) for $6. Give this place a try. It just might change the way you see donuts.

A beautiful selection of delicious donuts!

Our friend's live around the corner from a donut shop. "Any chance those donuts are good?" I asked. O He answered, "Sunshine Donuts are GREAT!!!" It's family owned and everyone behind the counter is happy, helpful, and friendly! They have a great selection. On Saturday morning they had sold out of apple fritters. The locals definitely know!

Friendly staff, delicious food and very affordable. The ham, cheese and jalapeño croissant is yummy and made to order!

    Chocolate Kruller
    Dave M.

My usual donut place was closed. So, I hopped on Yelp to see where I might find a chocolate cruller. I didn't even know Sunshine Donuts was nearby. A small place, but very clean with some seating inside. I was greeted in a friendly manner upon entering. The selection wasn't bad considering it was afternoon. And the had chocolate crullers! I ordered two and thought they may have placed something extra in the bag, but wasn't watching that close. After paying and getting out to the van, sure enough - a glazed cruller had been added to the order. Katie enjoyed it! Crullers are my favorite because of the texture of the dough. It is almost like a crepe, with what I describe as an "eggy" feel or flavor. These not only had that, but a wonderfully substantial icing as well. Growing up in the '70s, I remember occasionally enjoying a Dolly Madison or Hostess chocolate cupcake. The icing on those was at least an eighth of an inch thick. You could literally lift the whole thing off the cake like a disc. And the vanilla swirl of icing down the middle stood on top of the chocolate, obviously a separate process and product altogether. Compare that to what Hostess became before they went out of business. The chocolate icing was a thin veneer or film over the cupcake and that vanilla swirl was just a change in color of the film. So, I have an appreciation for the texture of the icing on a donut. The chocolate icing on the crullers is quite luxurious and flavorful. I may have a new go-to for donuts!

The people working were so nice, the donuts were amazing! A very good neighborhood donut place! Maple bar, chocolate bar, blueberry, an assortment of chocolate cake donuts with chocolate frosting and different toppings. They threw in an extra donut and some donut holes

Apple fritter, old-fashioned maple, a cronut, donut holes.

I was on the fence between the blueberry cheesecake and the peach cobbler. I really wanted a scoop of both, but I just wasn't that hungry. I decided on the peach cobbler, and I'm still dreaming about it. The sweet peaches, the essence of cream, and that buttery slightly salty crust. From the street front this place doesn't look like much but when you go in, there are a couple tables and a counter you can eat at and then there is a massive kitchen in the back. My friend saw that Elk Grove Donuts released their new young coconut series and wanted us to try it. We came around 11 am on a Saturday and it was pretty busy! We ordered two young coconut sticky rice pandan donuts, one young coconut pandan donut, young coconut matcha, and matcha latte. Everything together cost over $41, which we thought was a little ridiculous for donuts and matcha drinks. We were also shocked how small the young coconut matcha was when it came out. Kinda disappointed on the taste too as it was pretty telling when it wasn't a vibrant green. The matcha latte was just okay. The donuts of course were really pretty, but in reality it wasn't with the price over a normal donut. I think it would have been better if the flavors were incorporated into the donut itself versus it just having the frosting and toppings. Both are very heavy, so be prepared for a nap! It was extremely sweet too and a lot compared to the donut itself. Overall, I don't think I'd come back for their speciality donuts. They are pretty overhyped online, however I would be happy to try their normal donuts.

The place is called Tomo Tea House on N Freeway Blvd in Natomas. Their parking situation is pretty good as they have a huge lot that they share with many other popular businesses. It's the cutest little shop and they have the cutest interior with a few tables inside for customers. They have a kiosk one can order from but I ordered at the regular cashier. They have a pretty good display case which features many of their mochi donuts available that day. This particular visit was kind of unique in that I went there towards the end of business day,so I was able to pick up six donuts for only $1 each,so I ended up getting a lot more donuts than usual. I can 100% say that after eating all six donuts they do make a quality mochi donut and they really nailed the proper texture and sweetness level. Let's rank the donuts I picked up that day. 1. Chocolate With Fruity Pebbles-5/5-I really enjoyed the over the top sweetness of the toppings with the subdued sweetness of the donut. 2. Cookies N Cream-4/5-Im a pretty big fan of Cookies n Cream so this flavor combo really worked. 3. Churro-3.75/5-i think they pulled off the churro flavor pretty well and I really enjoyed this donut. 4. Funnel Cake-2.5/5- I'm not the biggest fan of Funnel Cake,so I'm probably the wrong audience but yeah just didn't enjoy it too much. 5. Ube-1.5/5- like the funnel cake, not a massive fan of Ube flavor so this flavor profile didn't work for me-sadly I had two of these. Overall I really enjoyed my visit to this shop and they currently are my go-to spot for mochi donuts in the Natomas area. They have a really high quality product here.
