First time trying, and I love the shop! Friendly services :) I ordered a sugar donut, a chocolate with coconut flakes donut, and a dozen glazed donut holes and was given extra. The dough is light and fluffy with no taste of oil. Not overly decorated, and no heavy aftertaste or feelings in my stomach. Well done! I've been looking for the best local donut shop in the Arden area, having grown up there, and I'm glad to say that this shop is the one! The guy who works here is quiet but hardworking and very nice nonetheless. This was our first time coming here, we were just looking for somewhere nearby to get some Hot Chocolate other than simple Starbucks. We got a medium coco, small coco, chocolate bar donut, and 4 donut holes. He gave us all of that for only $6.75 (which is basically what you'd pay for one coco at Starbucks) and added like 4 extra donut holes and an iced & sprinkled donut for free. I also liked that the coco wasn't insanely sugary, my boyfriend prefers his coco to be sweeter but I was sharing mine with our son and he was already eating a donut so I was glad it was a less sugary than other places lol. read more

Great donuts and service! I stopped in here on a Monday morning because they are one of the few donut shops open on a Monday and I hadn't tried them out before. They are located right next to a Little Caesars Pizza and a little hard to see (I've probably driven by it tons of times and never knew it was there!) but they are the only ones open in the morning so it's easy to get in and out of and find a parking spot. Inside there is maybe a table or two to sit at (maybe) so you are better off taking your donuts to go. They also sell coffee, milk and juices and the like. They had a good selection of donuts and so I had a hard time choosing! They also had a little selection of cronuts too (about 5 cronuts each in a different flavor) so maybe I will have to try them next time. Instead I opted for maple bar and a chocolate raised with chocolate chips. Both were very fresh and very yummy! I really enjoyed both the consistency of the icing and the consistency of the donut cake. I believe it was about $2.00 for both donuts which is standard. I was on the hunt for breakfast this past week when I read a review of this place that just happens to be minutes from my neighborhood. On the way to Sunshine, I also discovered that there's a park nearby. I've lived here a year and had no clue a large park existed near me, which made my morning even better. I'd only tried one other donut place in the Arden area and was excited to try this one, which is tucked into a little strip mall. I was lucky enough to get a fresh cronut from the back but I saw a variety of donuts that looked good and even though I meant to get breakfast for just one day, I ended up choosing about three donuts, including a blueberry glazed, a crumble-coated donut and a chocolate glazed cake donut. With a check-in on yelp, customers can get 1 free donut so I chose my favorite, chocolate with sprinkles to complete my order! The glazed cronut was flaky and pretty good, and the other donuts were great and held up even 4 days later after storing them in the fridge. They have a good selection of donuts including the fun varieties with cereal or bacon on top but you can still order the plain standards as well. I had great service and the man who helped me was nice and efficient. When my donut craving hits I'll come back to try some more varieties here. read more

This donut shop has two Yelp listings under two different names, and the signage out front lists two separate names, as well. Sunshine Donuts and Specialty Donuts. First of all, it you are craving a jelly filled or custard filled donut, you're going to be disappointed because I didn't see either of these offered in the small shop. In fact, you are going to find a very limited selection even if you arrive early in the morning. I'm thinking there must be lots of customers who go to this shop who enjoy that kind of cereal your mom never let you buy because each donut, no matter what type, has it sprinkled all over the top. I had to make my way to the end of the display case to find cereal-less topped donuts. The fellow inside the shop provided a cheery greeting, and was pleasant enough, so customer service isn't lacking. Just wish the place carried a delicious donut. read more

My coworkers have been bringing these delicious croissants lately from a doughnut shop. Today I finally paid them a visit myself. The shop isn't much to look at from a glance but when you go inside, you can tell they are very clean. The service was excellent, but what really blew me away was the doughnuts lol. I wanted so badly to give this little place more stars but I cannot. This review is based mostly on their cronuts. The bakery is located in a little strip mall on Marconi. I almost passed it. As I entered the case was full of delectable looking donuts. However I was on a mission for cronuts. The family behind the counter were very nice and super friendly. I always appreciate great customer service. I asked about getting some cronuts which they luckily had in stock. I got two. I had a glazed and a cinnamon sugar. They were $3.50 each. They were SMALL. Very very small. I've been told that cronuts are about the same size as donuts and very tall but these were itty bitty. I felt completely ripped off. I then tried the cronuts. They were gross. I literally felt like I was eating oil. Straight up oil. The cinnamon sugar was a little better but still an oily mess. I couldn't take more than a bite or two of each one. This place is cute with nice customer service but the cronuts were terrible. I will give them a try for their doughnuts. They gave me a few doughnut holes with my cronuts and those were pretty good but overall a very disappointing trip. read more

First of all, the sign outside says Specialty Donuts so don't be confused. Sunshine Donuts has a selection of traditional doughnuts that were fresh and tasty. I had a small apple fritter and we also brought home some plain buttermilk bars. The apple fritter was good and I liked the smaller size. The buttermilk bar was a little different then others with a lighter texture but not as much tangy buttermilk flavor. They gave us a sample of cronut holes with cinnamon sugar which enticed us to purchase a whole one. We made the mistake of choosing the maple bacon (enough with the bacon already) and found that the heavy frosting overpowered the delicate flavor and texture. I'm still not sure about cronuts but Sunshine Donuts is a good place to try them. read more
