Just tried Super Bowl on William Cannon..and I must say, I'm surprised. This chicken is really good! Crispy on the outside and tender white meat chicken inside. The rice is fine, not much to it besides some egg added to it. The sweet/sour sauce taste a bit weird and they didn't give me a lot- it's a light sauce (which I prefer) but it has no taste. Overall I'm satisfied. I'll try them again- a different dish of course. Items included with this meal was a pretty small egg roll and soup of choice (I chose wonton soup). read more

I have been coming here for at least 20 years. It's a hole in the wall but when I'm in the area and want to pick up something simple, comfort Chinese American food that is not expensive... This is where I stop. They're fast, the food is made right there when you order and they're super friendly. For most dishes you can get a meal that comes with egg roll, soup and a main dish for under $10.00. Nothing at all fancy but just good comfort Chinese food. This place is mostly a pick up or delivering place... actually when I go in and see people eating there I'm always a little surprise. All dishes comes with egg roll and choice of soup and side of rice unless it's a noodle dish. There is just something so simple about the won ton soup that just reminds me you don't always need a lot of frills to enjoy it. When I order delivery from somewhere, at best I hope for it to arrive at the upper end of the delivery window. Every time I have ordered from Super Bowl, my food has arrived even earlier than estimated. We stick with crab ragoons, fried rice and dumplings most of the time but have tried some of the other chicken dishes! It's always solid food with generous portions. read more

Portions were large and food was ready for pickup early. But those were the only positives. We ordered the combo fried rice, orange beef, and lemon chicken. The rice was overly salty, the beef in the rice and orange beef had a weird stale taste to it, almost like a foreign chemical. The lemon chicken was mostly batter and extremely greasy, and they definitely messed up the lemon sauce. Fast service, good quality, and friendly staff! My husband and I have been looking for a solid "East coast" style Chinese food place for over a year. Super Bowl provides just that. Our order (orange chicken, sweet & sour chicken, and pork fried rice) was every bit as delicious as the Chinese take out we used to order in New York City. I had a small problem with my order when it got delivered and I open my bag . I was going to give a bad review because I have never had this issue happen. On my day off which was 4 days later . I went down to Super Bowl in person to talk to the cashier. I have a customer for 10 years. Told him the problem with my order 4 day ago . For Chinese food in my neighborhood, this is definitely as good as it gets and, in my opinion, the best "cheap" Chinese food in town. I hesitate to call it cheap because who likes to be called that? But I got a huge, beautiful combination fried rice and two crispy, tasty egg rolls for under $10. The combo fried rice is enough for me to make 3 meals out of. And they don't skimp on the shrimp, and they use very nice chicken and beef, that never has that menagerie taste to it (ahem, 1st Wok). The beef was a little chewy tonight so I may forgo the beef in the combo next time and get extra chicken instead. The egg rolls are delish: very crispy with the thin breading, not that weird thick kind you get at some other Chinese places and the filling has distinct textures, not just mush. The soup is a weak spot on the menu. The egg drop that I've had twice now was way too gelatinous and salty and the hot and sour didn't really do it for me either. All the entrees come with a soup and an eggroll so I have been just subbing out soup for an extra eggroll. Pro-tip! I haven't tried too many other dishes, mostly because I love the combo fried rice so much, I don't get Chinese food very often, and the portions are so big I would be totally sick of whatever I ordered before I could eat it all. Even with two people, two entrees are way too much food. Others have commented about the decor and stuff. I would never eat in the restaurant, it's definitely a pick-up or delivery order for me. And they have a very cool and easy to use online ordering system or you can call and place your order. They are ready very fast, like less than 10 minutes usually. read more

I'm going to keep this review very short, because there is nothing wrong I can say about this place. 3.5 stars? That's a mistake!!! Because everything this place cranks out is just superb. They're known for their FRIED RICE, and it's quite the bargain too. For $7.95 3 people can get a good meal out of the mountain of rice, meat and veggies. On top of that you get a cup of soup which is just A+ and some spring rolls which were decent. The best part of this whole experience is that the place is family owned and if you eat in, which people rarely do in this place, because it's more of a takeout place, they tend to you like it were a 5 star restaurant or rather a part of the family. Lastly, this place the food, and the owners reminded me of back home... The takeout places in NYC. Since I've been in Austin I've been craving some cheap takeout style Chinese food --- when I tasted the food and expressed how amazing it was and how it reminded me of NYC, the owner said "oh were all from New York, moved here 14 years ago." My friend and I each live in a same senior community. She suggested Asian food. I had ordered from them once before and the food was delicious we both thought . So not having many options for delivery she ordered food to be delivered to her apartment. There was a two hour wait on the food being delivered. When I made it to my friends apartment to eat; I could hear my friend on the phone, speaking to the delivery person he was stating he delivered the food to her and she was advising him she had not received it. He realized that he must have delivered it to the wrong location and he would have the restaurant call her to resolve. Spent more time on the phone with the restaurant with them trying to make excuses about the apartment name. We stated even if they got the apartment name wrong the address should have got them to the right apartment complex. They offered to re-deliver to the correct address which would have been another hour wait. We agreed to the food being re-delivered. The restaurant made no offer for our inconvenience and when we suggested a couple of egg rolls they refused and stated they would refund the card. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I was cat sitting for friends and ordered from here. Delivery came fast enough and hot. I ordered two lunch specials and 2 extra soups. The portions are huge, so it made 4 meals. Good value. Kung pao pork (maybe beef?) was what you expect except I asked for extra spicy. It was. Chicken coconut curry (extra spicy) was also good. Both egg drop and hot-n-sour soups were enjoyable. The portions here are huge! If you are in the mood for Caucasian-Asian food, this is not a bad option. The soups were good and I would recommend their Pork Mushu. Each order comes with a rice option (white, brown or fried), egg roll and soup. I would check your to-go orders before leaving, they actually forgot to put noodles in our Beef Chow Mein order, so we got more of a beef stir fry. I have consistently ordered from this restaurant for over 3 years and I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food. I am predominantly vegetarian and their tofu is always very crispy and not soggy. I will occasionally order the Kung Pao chicken and the chicken itself is cut into very nice pieces without a lot of gristle or fat. Ordered a couple of simple things for takeout; egg rolls, dumplings, and a wonton soup. My total came to nearly fifteen dollars. The egg rolls were fine, though certainly not worth almost five dollars for two. The dumplings are from Costco. I'm serious, they're the ones you buy in a massive bag in the frozen section. Worst dumplings ever. The wanton soup only comes in one size, in a styrofoam cups which is much smaller than a standard plastic takeout soup container, and then they only filled the cup halfway. They seem to have used some kind of tasteless vegetable broth rather than chicken broth (or maybe they just water it down insanely). There was only one wonton. The rest was filled with cabbage. Cabbage everywhere. I have not tried any of their other dishes and I don't intend to. If you're going to overcharge and you can't even make your own dumplings or wonton soup, you're not a Chinese restaurant. Awful. read more

Super Bowl is the best Chinese takeout spot in South Austin. I have tried almost every Chinese fast-food restaurants in South Austin and Super Bowl exceed my expectation. This is not a fine dining establishment, no white table cloths here, but they are darn good at what they do. The portions are huge and services is fast. My usual order includes: 1. Shrimp fried rice- large portions, rice is perfectly fried with a lot of shrimp. This is one of the best fried rice I've had! 2. Fried chicken wings- this is not your typical hot wings, perfectly battered and fried till golden serve with sweet and sour sauce. 3.
