My missus also enjoyed her food and was very satisfied when she finished. Be sure to have napkins ready since the burgers are a bit greasy. If the fries had been crispy, they would've gotten an A+ as well. You get a lil' plastic disk and once your food is ready, you hop on over to the counter to pick it up yourself. They have an upper level that's a bit more intimate (and may separate you just a bit from the mob of drunken Cal students) and is much smaller than the large open space below. I like that distance, even if it's very little, because it gives you some level of control over the ambiance as you eat. The first time I came back they were out of it, so I got the regular chicken sandwich which was pretty good. When I finally got to try the spicy chicken sandwich I was so pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Super crispy and very well seasoned, but it was definitely spicier than "spicy" chicken sandwiches at other spots. Food comes out quick, so you can be in and out all within 15-20 minutes as everything is made to order. I don't love their fries. I know. Wah. I've had better. I made it my goal to try Super Duper, In N Out & Shake Shack to compare differences so here I am! Not pictured, but I love the garlic fries here. They're incredibly pungent and the garlic is so tasty. It is also layered with sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. It does get cold pretty fast so it hardens, but the fries still are tasty! I have gotten fries that were a bit too burnt but generally they're pretty good. I've tried the chicken sandwich when they first opened and I remember the chicken being pretty tender. A good alternative for those that don't eat/prefer to not eat red meat. The ice cream cones and sundaes are also some favorites amongst my friends. I've tried the ice cream cone and it was alright. I liked the chocolate layer outside but I think MCD ice cream is smoother. The super duper burger comes with 2 patties so I got it lettuce wrapped otherwise I would be too full. I like that the meat was juicy and tender (you can see it's a little more pink in the middle). I think the quality of the meat is pretty solid. I would consider super duper a gourmet burger, so if you're looking for a more "boujee" burger, you can always add bacon, cheese etc here. read more

Any place that gives you free homemade pickles is a great burger place in my opinion. I love the pickles here because they are perfectly seasoned and half crunchy. Most pickles are way too salty or acidic for me, but the pickles here had a nice balance of salty, sweet, and a little spicy. The burger here was also delicious. It was juicy and greasy but in the best way possible. The bun was nicely toasted and stayed crunchy even though the meat was super juicy. The meat tasted like it was seasoned nicely which is good because there's nothing worse than a bland burger patty. The toppings were also very fresh. The lettuce was crunchy, the tomato was juicy, and the caramelized onions added a nice sweetness. The fries were a little bit of a disappointment. They weren't super crunchy like they were freshly made, so they might have been sitting out for a while. I recently went to Super Duper Burgers in Berkeley. They have two locations in the East Bay & six locations in the city along w/ a dozen locations in the SF Bay Area. The location in Berkeley is on Telegraph Ave a short walk from the Berkeley BART station on Shattuck Ave. There motto is "Fast Food Burgers, Slow Food Value". They use artisanal buns, homemade pickles, organic, & 100 percent compostable packaging. The staff was helpful to help me navigate the vegan options on the veg-friendly menu. Enjoyed the veggie burger, fries, lemonade & homemade pickles. Solid meal that was satisfying on the surprisingly sustainable eco-conscious menu. I pretty much ordered everything that was vegan. My Veggie Burger was an organic patty w/ hummus, cucumbers & omit the super sauce to customize it vegan. It comes w/ lettuce, tomato, & red onions. Be sure to also ask for grilled onions, pickles, & jalapeño peppers if you are okay w/ spicy. I also had them add avocado & roasted portobello. The avocado was a small portion yet still enjoyed the veggie burger. Kudos for using quality ingredients! I paired the veggie burger w/ french fries & loved the homemade pickles as they are quite alright. I also went w/ a fresh lemonade which was refreshing on a summer's day. One of the higher-end burger places and the prices reflect that. Large, beautiful space at a somewhat busy intersection and is overall safe since many students/people pass by that area. The burgers are generally on par with those I've had at In-and-Out (CA) and Shake Shack (NY) after multiple visits at each location. Shake Shack wins by a small amount (sorry West Coast people). I get the "mini burger" and usually add Jack or Cheddar cheese (~0.75), and have the option to add grilled onion/jalapeno free-of-charge. Customize toppings as needing. The combo includes burger + fries + coke (about $12-$13 I think) and fries here are way better than those at In-and-Out. The burger is juicy and delicious...but the bun is a little bit too dry/rough in my opinion. Adding bacon, jalapeno, and cheese will elevate the taste even more...Food comes out quickly and burgers are packaged nicely. Super Duper has finally opened on Telegraph Ave.! Came on Friday at noon with Joey and the line was just inside the door. We were told when we entered that the credit card system was down and it was cash only. It only took a few minutes to make it to the cashier. I decided to order a mini burger ($5.75) with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and sauce and then add on a slice of cheese ($0.50). Pickle spears can be picked up at the condiment bar by the cashier. I love garlic fries ($3.50) so I ordered that as well. Joey got the same mini burger and also bought a cookies and cream super shake so I could try it and we shared my fries. I'm not a huge fan of burgers anymore but this angus grass fed meat was juicy and cooked to a nice medium well. The mini burger has just one 4 oz. patty and it was enough for me between the burger and the fries. The garlic fries were crunchy and the grated 6-month cheddar added nicely. As we ate through to the bottom of the cardboard container, the fries were more limp and oil lined the whole bottom of the container. Next time I may choose just regular fries and hope there's less oil/grease. The cookies and cream shake as pretty good. It was a bit too liquidy for my liking. Normally I like shakes that can make a straw slightly stick up but you can also drink it up without feeling like you have to take deep breaths to get it up the straw. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 Stars. Service was excellent. Seating was a bit tight but most people found seats after waiting a little bit. Clean, organized...I'd come back again to give it another try! read more

PROS: - Helloooo, free and delicious food! - The chicken sandwich is delish! I'm glad the bread they use is not hard. I usually take one piece of the bread off but I ate both pieces on this bad boy! - I like the spicy kick on the chicken sandwich. - I love knowing the chicken they provide is "free range." - The milkshakes are superb! The fresh strawberries milkshake pairs beautifully with the chicken combo meal. - There's two floors in this eatery so it's pretty spacious. - My plus 1 and I got two free gift cards for Super Duper! The burgers just feel cleaner and lighter to eat than at most other burger joints; I really like the bread that they use, and the beef patty itself tastes great! The size is smaller than most burgers, but I think it's just right, especially to go with fries and a soft serve dessert. The soft serve!
