Was hoping it would be good as an alternative to seafood in McKinney, but probably won't go back. The seafood soup was good and the beer was cold, but other than that just ok. The place is slow but for an empty restaurant they took way too long to get food ordered and placed. The water at the fountain does not work, the ceviche tostada was not good. Went with some friends last night. We took advantage of the free appetizers while getting the calamari and the fried mozzarella cheese. Both were pretty good and came out of the kitchen quickly. I got the snow crab legs which were EXCELLENT. Great flavors and the meat was so sweet. My buddy tried the catfish and came away impressed. Good beer selection, I recommend the Longboard on tap. Tried Super Shack for the first time today. Had a pound of the boiled shrimp, an order of fries and their sweet tea. The shrimp were a little too spicy for me and just right for my wife, so it must be just about right for people who like spicy stuff. The fries were coated with the same mix of dry spices that were on the shrimp, a good compliment to the shrimp. Sweet tea was good. Their menu has a lot of options all across the seafood spectrum, mostly fried and boiled. Just based on the shrimp, not good enough to keep me from driving a little further for fresher shrimp, but will update this review when I try some of their other dishes. read more

Not a good experience when we went in for dinner. Ordered oysters on the half shell and the catfish platter. Catfish was seasoned well and cooked perfectly (should say fried perfectly). However, it was a very thin piece with mostly breaking and the fries that came with the platter were cold and inedible. Oysters were relatively small in size and were not chilled even on ice. Went for a late lunch with family. I have been wanting to come here for a while now but seafood restaurants always worry me. I always feel you don't get what you pay for. However, not with Super Shack! The portions are great for the price! We ordered: bowl of shrimp soup with a side salad, sea scallops plate and catfish with shrimp. Everything was served quickly and HOT. I hate getting soup that is only slightly warm. There were 4 or 5 larger shrimp with tails on top of the soup. It was to my delight to find more and more slightly smaller shrimp in the soup. There must have been close to a pound of shrimp. I ordered a side salad so it would be like a combo soup and salad. However, it was a large side salad! Both items are worth the price. The sea scallops (6 large ones) were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The sautéd veggies were also perfectly seasoned and cooked. I did not try the catfish and shrimp platter as I try to limit my fried food intake. It looked perfectly fried and not drenched in oil. The only negative comment was the fried shrimp was battered in corn meal like the catfish and they prefer a more thicker batter for fried shrimp. But that is more of a personal taste. Most of the employees had smiles are their faces which is always nice to see. Overall, we will be back and will bring our friends.
