My refrigerator suffered a sudden death on Saturday. It just stopped freezing/cooling, and I awoke on Sunday morning to a melted mess of ice cream and chicken juice and popsicle goo all over my kitchen floor. Awesome. I found Superior Alliance on Yelp, and hey! they returned my call within an hour (on a Sunday!), telling me they could come as soon as Monday morning. I texted him my address and the make of my fridge, and he texted right back saying he would call me when he was 20 minutes away. At 9:40am today, he called. At 10am, he was here. At 10:03, he diagnosed the fridge with a dead compressor. At 10:10am, he replaced the compressor. At 10:15am, I was signing a check for for the compressor replacement, instead of running to Sears to buy some random new $1500 refrigerator. I was assured that if anything happened in the next 90 days, he would come back to reassess and fix it at no charge. That was the most impressively productive 25 minutes I have ever experienced with any contractor who has worked in my home. read more

When I called this business I spoke with someone who immediately set a date and window for service to be performed only a couple of days later. Adam was my technician. He was friendly, professional, and worked quickly. He was very straightforward about what he was doing and what could happen. He even gave me advice on how keep the longevity of my washer and dryer. My fridge (Frigidaire Gallery series) had stopped cooling and based on the reviews I called Superior Appliance Services. They were able to give me an appointment the next day (5-7PM). The following day the technician (can't remember his name) called me at 5PM saying he'll be there in 30 minutes. I couldn't make it there on time so I asked him if he could delay it a little bit. He agreed to move it to 6PM, which was cool of him to do. When I got home he was in the hallway waiting outside my apartment. I showed him the fridge and he got to work right away. He said it needed freon and that he would add it. If it worked, it would cost $224. If it didn't work, it would cost $50 for his trip. After spending 30 minutes behind the fridge he told me it was working, but that it would take up to 12 hours for the fridge to cool. He gave me the service ticket and I paid him - they take credit card. The technician is from Tunisia and since I was going there we talked a bit about the country. Nice guy. I checked the next day and the fridge was working! The company provides a 30-day warranty. I will call them for other appliance repairs. read more

THEY DO NOT DO BOSCH. I have a compact Bosch washer in a closet under a small Bosch dryer. I was charged (and I paid) a $50.00 diagnostic fee. I was told that the the computer of my washer was malfunctioning. The repair would cost $400. Ben recommended I see if I could get a new equivalent Bosch washer for a reasonable price. All I found were Bosch machines 3x the cost of the estimate he gave me for a repair. So, the next day, I contacted Ben to have him come out again to fix my washer. Ben came to my home exactly a week from the day of the diagnostic. We took off the trim around one side of my closet door; nevertheless, the dryer continued to be difficult to remove off the top of my washer. The dryer was too heavy for Ben or it was too tightly wedged in my closet. It may have been a little of both. He couldn't repair the washer without getting the dryer out. So he left. Now I have trim around my closet door that needs to be repaired. A Bosch technician came to my home a few weeks later. I described to him the problem. He told me to change detergents. Eco-friendly detergents do not work with Bosch machines because they make too many suds. He told me to get cheap detergent at the local grocery store. He was right. All I needed to do was change my detergent. He charged me $125 for his diagnostic. No repair was needed. read more

We called Ben on a Saturday morning after realizing that our 2006 Kenmore oven was no longer working. Ben was polite and prompt, and he was able to stop by the same day (on a weekend, no less!) during the allotted 2 hour time frame he had given us. We paid the $50 service charge for him coming out to diagnose the issue, and he called back several days later to let us know that he received the new part. I gave him a two hour time frame that I was available on Thursday, and as requested, he called me 30 minutes prior to arrival so that I could drive home from work to meet him at the condo. He replaced the part in about 10 minutes, and after I wrote him a check for the $223 price he had quoted me, he said that I only owed $173 since I had already paid him the $50 service fee. Wow! I was so impressed with his honesty as he could have very easily taken my $223 check (in addition to the $50 I had already paid him), and I would have been none the wiser! Ben is our new go-to repair man, and I highly recommend his professional and reasonable services! I'll absolutely be referring friends/neighbors to him in the future! read more

After getting jerked around by the Sears/Kenmore-contracted technician (called from outside my house, mumbling questions about the model--details of which I had provided to Sears--and trying to justify bringing a 2nd "helper" at 2x the diagnostic price)--I looked here and on Angie's for recs for a decent appliance repair outfit. Ben was responsive and quick. He came out the next day and quickly diagnosed the problem and said he had a replacement part in the truck. He was perfectly able to physically handle the stacked washer/dryer unit, pulling it toward him and making the repair at the same time. Impressive. Our dryer sensor stopped working, meaning it would stop after running for ~5 minutes because it couldn't tell the door was closed. Being the opposite of handy, my husband and I slapped a piece of duct tape over the sensor and went about our business. We are getting ready to rent our place, so we decided to get it fixed. I found Superior Alliance on Yelp, and made an appointment between 10-2 on Saturday. I texted Ben my address and photos of the dryer so they could bring the correct part. Our technician called at 11:20, showed up at 11:40, and was out the door by 12:05. This was super impressive because our dryer is in the tiniest closet ever. He secured the power, fixed the broken part, turned the power back on, and checked to make sure the dryer was running. We paid $198 which included the $50 diagnostic fee, and he was out the door. I could not be more pleased with Superior's customer service! My dryer belt broke for the 2nd time within an 8-month period. I hesitated in calling Superior because I was not prepared to go thru the ritual of having my stackable component taken out of the closet and having it disassembled in order to repair it. Also, because the company's location was in DC, I did not think they would drive outside of the immediate area (I live in PG County). But Lasaad came earlier than expected and KNOWLEDGEABLE! Not only did he repair my machine in less than 90 minutes, he DID NOT have to take the machine out of the closet, and he DID NOT need to totally disassemble the washer from the dryer---only a few screws here and there to take off the top---(Duh!). Lasaad took time to explain to me what he was doing AND let me watch! When recounting my first episode, his actions (more than words) made it very clear that the last repairman did not know what he was doing (you think?) He was a professional. The last guy did not show up the first day (stayed overtime with another client). He came late on the rescheduled day--2 days later, took @ 4+ hours for a simple belt replacement AND even had to take a break in-between to leave out to go get the doggone thing (a standard part that he should've had on-hand), leaving washer/dryer parts all over my hallway ...(smh). Lasaad even showed me why my belt broke so soon....sure I had stuffed the dryer with too many clothes, but I was also given an inferior belt--CHEAP! Well, I don't usually give a company a 5-out-of-5 until I see a repeat performance and/or after testing the repaired appliance for awhile. But believe me: Lasaad and the Superior Company has a 4 1/2 score with me, and I will be using and referring them. My refrigerator died. I called, they came the next day. I texted my model number with them so they could bring parts. I GREATLY appreciated this as it allowed the work to be completed in a single trip. Repairman was professional and honest. $300 later, my refrigerator was working. He accurately diagnosed the problem as the compressor starter. Google searching says this repair averages for $200-$400 - so I think $300 is 100% fair for the service provided. Our washing machine was broken and we called Superior Appliances after seeing how well it was reviewed on both Yelp and Angie's List. We thought things were good when the repairman left on Saturday, but when we tried to do the laundry on Sunday, the washing machine just filled up with water and that was it - no spinning, no regular cycle run. We were originally pleased that Ben and crew could fit us in on a Saturday morning, and that they seemed responsive and professional, and that the repairman arrived within the time window (even allowing for us to get an errand done by giving us the repairman's number). But our washing machine is not fully operational. We have called Ben back and hopefully will get this problem resolved. read more

After acting glitchy for about a week, our fridge officially broke this morning and I called them up about 10am, then came by at 2:00 and diagnosed that it was the motherboard. They had a new one in the car and replaced it quickly and were very courteous. The price was reasonable as well. We called Superior Appliance Services for service in Washington, DC, because the electronic control panel on a gas oven was not working. Ben, the owner answered right away on a Saturday. He knew exactly what the problem was. But before sending someone out, he had us do a diagnostic while he was on the phone. He had us do an electrical reset of the oven to see if that solved the problem. If it didn't work, it meant we definitely needed the new part. Well, it worked, so our problem was solved instantly. Some companies would have sent a technician out to do the same, which would have meant we would have had a service charge and couldn't have used our oven all weekend. If we had needed a new part, Ben had the part in stock and could have gotten a technician out that week. His rates were also very reasonable. To me, an appliance service company doesn't get better than that. Quick responsiveness, ability to get someone out to your house quickly, knowledgeable and competent help, fair charges for their service, with a focus on helping the customer more so than maximizing their revenues. For two days I could't reach their MD office, the line was busy all the time. on the third day suddenly I was reconnected with their DC office, explained the problem with my dishwasher. He wore protective gear for COVID-19, which I appreciated. He diagnosed the problem, had the part, and took corrective action quickly. Noticed that my 10 year old Amanda refrigerator was not cooling in the refrigerator portion but the freezer was working fine. Was content with just replacing it with a more modern model but decided to call Superior just in case it was something minor. They had great reviews and were located very close to me. Got an appointment the same day. Guys come out, very friendly and approachable. Ended up having to replace the motherboard. Everything now works well and all chill again. Will have to wait a bit longer to update all my appliances (dang), but would definitely recommend Superior and will use again when needed. read more

I called them to diagnose why my dryer isn't working as the washer was working perfectly fine (stackable washer/dryer unit) . The technician Adam came to diagnose. When he went to do the diagnostic, he caused a huge spark (mini explosion). He said the motor and timer were not working and it was best to buy a new unit. After that, neither my Washer nor my Dryer worked. I would definitely not recommend this company. read more

We discovered our fridge was not properly cooling at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night. We had a full fridge and freezer and company coming over for dinner on Saturday. We were stressed both about what repair/replacement might cost, as well as the time it make take to find a qualified repair person. We called these guys first thing on Saturday morning - they had someone at our house by noon; he investigated, told us what was wrong, gave us a quote, and then fixed the problem within an hour. Contacted them about a leaking dishwasher. One plus is they came that same day. Big minus is that they quoted me over $200 for a $10 part to fix my dishwasher, this is after I paid $50 for them to check the dishwasher. That didn't even include how much they were going to charge to put it in. The voicemail clearly said this much for the part. So whatever part they say you need, do your research on the cost first. DRTL synopsis: Repairs were solid. Customer Service was horrid. I do not recommend them. I waited a few weeks before posting this because I was so angry and I was also worried that the repairs might have been sloppy. But a few weeks later - the repairs worked. So my fridge was slowly dying. Just the fridge part. It was having issues with keeping itself cool. But there was ice forming at the bottom, but the top was warmer and most of the food on the top shelf would spoil within a day and start growing mold within 3. Also the water feature wasn't working. Clearly something was wrong, so a trip on Angies List and Yelp turned up these good folks. On their website there was an option to book an appointment via message - and being the introvert I am, if there is an option to not to talk to a human, I will take it. It took them 2 days to respond and they set up an appointment without checking if the time worked for me. I emailed back and said it's not going to work, and suggested another day. Well on the original and cancelled date - I got a call from the repair man that he was at my house. I told him that I wasn't there and he rescheduled it for yet another date, even though I told him the company already scheduled it. I went with the one that I talked to a human about. He called at the end of the quoted window saying he was 20 mins away. After 90 mins from the call, I call him back to ask for an updated ETA - and he said due to traffic it was another 20 mins before he would be there. So the man showed up 2 hours late and told me that he had to order parts to fix my fridge. The quotes were a little high, especially after googling the parts needed had it be an 8th of the quote. Whatever - labor is a bitch and I don't have the skill sets to fix the problem. The repair man said that most likely it was going to be a few days to get the pieced mailed in and the target date was to get everything fixed in a week. So I get that - a week goes by and I call to get an update - they said the part wasn't in yet. 2 weeks go by, and my calls are unanswered. So I call the headquarters on a Friday, and the repair man tells me that he could come that Saturday between 8-12 to install the parts. Being without a fridge for over 2 weeks, I rearrange my weekend plans to be home. I get a call at 9am from the repairman saying that one of the parts isn't in and that it's going to be another couple of days for it to be delivered. This is when I lose it. Then I learn that they forgot to order the part from the get go and I should be thankful that they are going to overnight the necessary part and that the could come Monday afternoon. I told them that's not acceptable and we can do 2 visits to fix the fridge - once that day with the part in house and another for the other part when it comes in. The repairman responded with they would have to charge me 2 service fees of $150 to fix it. So I told him the only other option would be that the come after 5:30 for them to fix it, because I won't be able to get out of work early with such little notice. And he agrees to it. On Monday, I get a call at 3pm saying that they were on their way to my house and that I needed to be there in 20 mins. Once again, I. WAS. LIVID. But desperate to get my fridge fixed, I took a cab home and they didn't show up until 4:30. The utter disrespect for my time and misinformation that I was given by this company was unparallel. I don't understand how they could get such high rating on both angie's list and on yelp. The repair man did sheepishly give me a $50 discount on my bill - but that doesn't even make up for the hours of wasted time of me waiting for them when they said they were going to be there. **edit** The response this company posted to my review is laughable. if I could now give them a 0 start, i would do it. I didn't reschedule without prior notice. The tech cancelled on me on the date of two times - and once when I had to rush back home from work to try to meet them. I will openly say that I had to reschedule the day beforehand due to something poping up at work. read more

I have a combo oven microwave and the microwave quits working. While I tried to replace the microwave, I burnt the wires of the control board oven. I called Ben and I showed up an hour later and patiently worked with me in replacing the microvave and managed to save my oven control board. It was such a pleasure to work with Ben. ******* BUYER BEWARE !!!!! *******. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER RELATIONS!! So this is about 3 - 4 months out, but after coming across their invoice while doing some fall cleaning - had to post this because I very rarely write bad reviews but I have very rarely had such HORRIBLE service! (And after paying $248 our dishwasher still does NOT work!) The soap dispenser on our dishwasher was not opening automatically and was making a bad noise. I can't remember the man that came to look at it (this invoice #1965 says "Zoo" ? Or "700"?). Anyway, he was very short with us over the phone the 1st time around...but I figured he was having a bad day- he was much better acting when he got here - gave an estimate, had to order a new circuit board etc etc. Fine. Then came the trouble of rescheduling. Took 2 weeks to hear back from him - had to call him to ask - said he could come out the next week. Cool. Never heard from him again, so I call him the next week. Starts telling me how he's busy - can only come around 8:30 PM that week. Told him that wouldn't work - that's our dinner time - am willing to skip work in the middle of the day - so he says between 10 AM - 12 the next day. I remember getting worried at 11:30 and I haven't heard from him and I'll have to leave the house at 12:30 to get to work...long story, I call him to ask his ETA - he LAUNCHES into me saying he'll get there when he can. I tell him "Ok, dude". "Don't 'dude' me ya lil bitch!" My jaw dropped, I couldn't believe it! Started cursing me out, then hung up on me. Had to call him back and was trying to tell him to calm down (I just wanted my appliances fixed and he's literally just yelling his head off at me while I'm calm as a cucumber) he finally did calm somewhat but only after yelling over the phone and telling me I was ungrateful for him working around my scheduled...Yada yada yada....can't remember all the details, but it was BAD. I was nervous about him getting to the house, but he already knew where I lived so i played by his rules. He came over, did the "repairs" without saying more than "hey" when he got there. Wrote him a check and he stormed out. I didn't say anything to him or approach him the entire time as I was honestly scared of him and him knowing my address, didn't know what he was capable of. After 1 cycle, the dishwasher is back to not working again and we've just learned to deal with it. Again, I wish I would have wrote this closer to the actual events, but after stumbling across the invoice, felt enclined because we've never been treated so horribly and dissrespectful over NOTHING at all. Again, I never write bad reviews, I'm very easy to please and only want cooperation and peace between people, so feel this all went totally unwarranted. read more

Very curt, to the point of being borderline rude, and seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder. But, at the end of the day, they showed up on time and got the job done, so I can't fault them for that. Superior Appliance Service & Owner Ben Saratt get an A+. They have been out on two separate occasions to deal with the same Fridge- Air washer that just doesn't seem to like our family. Prior to the first time Ben came to do a service, he called and asked what the issues was, and what the error code the washer was showing. Next he asked for the maker of the washer, model number, and serial number. When Ben arrived he had a replacement part with him based of the error code from the washer. If the replacement part didn't work and the washer needed to be replaced, we were only responsible to pay the service call fee of $50.00. The second time the same washer refused to work for my family, I called Superior Appliance at 7:30pm on a Thursday night. The answering serviced picked up, and took my information. The next day I received a call from Ben, and he gave me an appointment for Saturday with a 4 hrs window. He said he would call 30 mins prior to make sure someone was home. Ben then asked what were the issues, and the error code the washer was showing. Next he asked for the maker of the washer, model number, and serial number. On Saturday, Ben called 30 mins prior and he also was able to move the appointment up a few hours. He was able to fix our washer, within 45mins, and as a repeat customer Ben did not charge me an arm and a leg. I have recommend him to everyone I know, and will continue to do so read more

Very bad experience with this company. My oven had been emitting a bad smell and I called Superior based on the good reviews I'd read. The guy came over, spent about three minutes glancing at the oven very superficially, announced that there was nothing wrong with it (I guess the terrible smell was just my imagination), demanded $50, and left. The guy was clearly in a hurry and more interested in getting a few bucks for as little effort as possible than in putting in the time to really examine the oven and figure out what was wrong. I feel like he basically stole 50 bucks from me. I tried Sears next and that guy was as useless as Superior but charged twice as much (so I guess that's the best thing I can say about Superior - it's only half the ripoff that Sears was). I got lucky on the third try with a place called Steps Appliance Repair - their repairman was thorough, friendly, and was actually able to diagnose the problem. They will be my go-to company in the future. I will avoid Superior. read more

When I got no reply from them I finally called and was told "we don't serve your area". He said they were "short technicians". I understand that and can sympathize. But if you don't serve my area, please update your website. And even more, call or email me back rather than ignore me because I'm no longer representing business to you. I assume, based on the other reviews, that their service is good. So if you're in their service area (which I have no idea what that is!), feel free to try them. I'm not trying to hurt their company, I'm just hoping this will spur them to either return calls or update their site (or both). Absolutely fantastic service!! was able to get an appt for my broken washer right away. Adam arrived and very quickly assessed the problem (for only 60!) and let me know my options including just buying a new washing machine if he couldn't find the replacement part within a week. Super fast and knowledgeable service. Our oven door came off its hinge at 10 pm, and with a toddler in the house, that wouldn't do (toddler was also part of the cause!). We were able to get a service appointment the very next day. Service technician, Monder, called 20-30 mins before arrival, as promised (perfect because I needed to leave work to meet him). He was in and out in 20 minutes, especially friendly and courteous the whole time. Turns out it wasn't the first time we had called these folks -- they did a great time last time too. 10/8 My fridge had another issue tonight (not related to the first) and I called Ben and he arrived within an hour (7 pm). He was able to correct the issue by installing a new simple part within 5 minutes. He didn't even charge me for the appointment or the part since it was such a quick fix. I don't know where else you get such quick service, well after business hours, at not only no extra charge but no charge at all. Ben really went above and beyond! I can't say enough good things! I've had plenty of not great to awful experiences in the past with people coming into my home to do work so please save yourself any headache and just call Ben if you need an appliance fixed! On a whim as I was working from home, I called my condo management firm for a recommendation for the repair and got in touch with Superior Appliance. I was planning on scheduling the service for next week, but the rep said they could come between 1-5 PM today. Sure, I'm home! At 2:00, the technician was here. At 2:30, my issue was resolved! The repair was a little pricey, but the service was stellar. I'll pay for convenience and great service! I've had other appliance companies take weeks to come out and additional time to order parts, etc. This company makes it painless (at least with my type of repair). read more
