I decided to stop by Supperland on the last night of my trip to Charlotte considering all the great things I've seen about the restaurant online. I was initially intrigued by the history of the building being a church that was turned into a restaurant over time. You can definitely notice the architecture of a church upon walking up to the restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by friendly hosts and are able to take in the beautiful chandeliers. Keeping with the church aesthetic, I was seated at a table where one side is actually shared with other guests as it is a church pew bench. I started with their Maybe Tomorrow cocktail which was really good before ordering dinner. As a first timer, my server graciously explained the menu and shared some personal favorites. I took his advice and ordered the chicken, miso mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. It's a wonderful atmosphere, however, I think the food was a bit bland. The chimichurri on the chicken was good, but the meat it self lacked salt. I was told the miso mac would have some kick to it, but it did not. I'm happy to say that the brussel sprouts were good though. I did appreciate the fresh ingredients, but I think their Starter menu is probably what really shines. There was a table with two young women right next to me that shared a few starters that looked delicious and could ultimately be a meal when just chatting with some friends over cocktails. As a treat, I decided to end with an espresso martini and the coconut cream pie. Both were still so so, in my opinion. The server was transparent to explain that the restaurant uses an espresso infused spirit as they don't serve espresso and I also noticed that they finish off Italian style with fresh lemon which threw me off some. New experiences always remind me that you don't know what you don't know, which is why it's great to try new things. Knowing what I know now, I'll do different if I choose to visit again. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened! I have tried to walk in before but was deterred by the long wait, therefore, I made a reservation for an early weeknight dinner- easy! My husband and I found parking pretty easily on the street- don't park in Harris as there are signs up that they tow. Upon entering the restored church, I was immediately taken back at how beautifully the interior was done. I love that the original church pews account for seating. We started with the onion dip which was just ok in my opinion and next time I would opt for the Brie bites. At the recommendation of our waitress, we split a steak and ordered some sides. In this case, our sides of miso Mac and cheese as well as carrots stole the show. I loved how the miso flavored made this Mac and cheese stand out. The charred carrots were excellent and prosperous - the spicy glaze was great too! I definitely think ordering more sides is the way to go! The $68 steak was unfortunately forgettable and outshined by the rest of the offerings. We ordered medium and although the center was perfect, the outside was almost burnt/charred. All in all a good experience that made for a special date night. read more

A beautifully decorated old church turned restaurant was a must try for us. However, trying to get a reservation was a little annoying. Supperland is constantly busy, which is not a bad thing, so we knew reservations were a must. We booked a table for about a month out but the part that was annoying wasn't the fact we had to book so far out. The annoying part was that you have to pay to make a reservation. I'm not sure what the value is of this as every restaurant that takes reservations and I've never had a single one charge. AND it's $3 per person. I'd understand it is this fee went to curing cancer or feeding the hungry but it appears as if this is just a way to either make more money or pay for the reservation engine. Again, I've never been charged for reservations before. Now on to the food and service. Our waiter was brand new and the night we went was his first night on his own. He did very well and was attentive and super friendly. There is also a "wine manager" (not sure if he is a Sommelier) on staff and standing by to help make wine recommendations. This was a nice touch and somewhat expected given the prices. Our order was sausage and gravy croquettes and raw oysters for starters. Then I got the branzino and risotto. I did get a pairing of wine for both courses and what a great experience. Everything tasted flavorful, wonderfully cooked (except the the oysters of course) and the pairing was to perfection. I'm not 100% sure if I would go back or not mainly due to the reservation fee. Again, I feel this was excessive and given all of the options in Charlotte I'm not sure I want to pay extra to make a reservation. read more

It's fair to say that this restaurant is capable of five stars. This was one of, if not the best meals we had while visiting Charlotte. Yes, it's pricy but in my opinion worth it based on the quality. The reason I can't give five stars is not because of the food, it's because it took an awfully long time for our dinner to get to our table. It was about an hour wait and the restaurant wasn't packed or busy, it was at the most 40% full. If it wasn't for the long wait I would definitely say five stars. I'm obsessed. This is the perfect spot for a special occasion and would be a really great spot to take out of town guests as well! I highly recommend making a reservation especially if you plan to go on the weekend. We were blown away by the details! Located inside an old church, the atmosphere was so unique and different with soaring ceilings and church pews instead of booths. The silverware, the plates, the glasses, everything had such a vintage flare and I was immediately obsessed. Everything sounded so amazing it was so hard to choose what to order! The highlight of our meal were the sausage gravy croquettes, the miso mac and cheese, and the peanut butter & jelly pie! Oh my gosh that pie!! I'm still dreaming about it. The pork can can was good and definitely interesting/unique, but I think I would order a different meat next time. A must when visiting Charlotte! You need to call way ahead for reservations, please plan accordingly. It's such a beautiful venue, so well lit, I felt good coming in to eat here. The dishes are family style, so please pass around and share your vittles. For instance, in a group of four, ordering 3-4 entrees/sides and 2-3 starters makes sense. Hopefully your waiter makes a suggestion as ours did. If you see below we went beyond that and food to take home. I remember smirking when the plates came to our table, then smiling while eating, everything was so delicious. The flavors weren't overpowering everything was just the right amount of yummy. The prime rib wasn't the main attraction to the meal with a bunch of supporting dishes. This was an ensemble cast of food playing their parts to perfection. To each their own, while it was still delicious, I prefer the risotto to not be as runny but I'm not a chef I just eat what's in front of me. Wow. I was blown away by this buffet. It was really upscale and classy. The waitstaff were so attentive and our plates for kept filled and or scooped away as we ate. The restaurant is a former church and I loved the ambiance. They kept come of the old pews and used the space well. I recommend this place for your next holiday meal. I have to preface this review by saying that I am a brunch aficionado. Lol! Out of all the meals, brunch is my favorite and because I travel a lot I have been to a lot of brunch spots. I do not mind spending up to or over $100 on a good brunch location, so that does not color my review. It is also very common at some establishments to pay for the meal and gratuities prior to dining, so that also has not changed my review. All that being said, I found brunch at Supperland to be a bit of a letdown. At this price point, I have seen much more elaborate layouts with much more variety than what was offered at supper land. I have to say the restaurant is adorable. The idea of converting a church into a restaurant is unique, and I loved it! It reminded me of the church where I grew up as a child. The service was wonderful! My server did his best to make sure that all of our needs were met quickly, and with a smile. And the food was good. It just was limited. For example, they had one frittata with corn on the menu. There were no other Egg options anywhere to be seen. There were also food items that were unavailable, like they were out of shrimp skewers most of the service that we attended. For the passed food there is a bit of a timing issue. Though there are servers circulating with the past foods which are oysters, shrimp, cocktail, and cinnamon rolls, they don't have enough to actually make it through the dining room. We made it through our entire meal, having only received one of the items which was the oysters. They were delicious by the way. However, even after asking our server multiple times the cinnamon rolls and shrimp cocktail did not make it to our table until after we had paid the check. So they definitely need to up their game in this department. The dessert table was a bit of a letdown as many of the desserts felt like premade items or afterthoughts. The other selections were quite enjoyable. Our favorites were the cucumber, salad, sandwiches, the strawberries and cream, the bacon, which was cooked to perfection, and the beef skewers. If you're looking for a nice brunch, you would find one at Supperland, but not as nice as I expected. We probably will not come back to this location, but would recommend that others try it and see what they think. read more

As always, Supperland delivered. This has become our anniversary dinner spot. They started our experience with a thoughtful card for our anniversary, and gave us two complimentary macarons at the end of our meal. We started with the porridge bread w/ beet butter, and the 7-layer salad. I just love the porridge bread so much! We were smarter this time, and didn't eat all of the bread so that we could eat more of our food! The 7-layer salad was very fresh, great flavors with a light dressing. The combination of the butternut squash, spiced apples, Gouda, nuts...just delicious. For entrees we got the Wagyu pot roast, ribeye, blackened onions and mashed potatoes. The ribeye was perfection as always. My husband l loved the pot roast as usual. Another favorite -the potatoes...just perfectly cooked-crispy, soft, deliciousness. The sauce is delicious and I love to add a little to my steak. The onions are a perfect addition to all of it...just delicious. The gingerbread cake was a light, gently sweetened perfect end to the meal. The tartness of the cranberries added a nice freshness and worked well with the gingerbread. The ambiance is always so pleasant. We did end up seated next to one of the service carts. It was fine, but I'd ask not to be seated next to them. No matter how considerate, it's distracting, and at times startling, to have people grabbing plates, etc from the cart. Again, this is a favorite for us and we've vowed to try something different on our next visit...we shall see! read more

Have been wanting to try them out for the longest time and finally got here! For this visit, we tried The Bar at Supperland (will definitely be back to try the main restaurant)! The food and drinks were excellent...everything was top notch! Had the roasted oysters and the prime meatballs, which were awesome! The smoked old fashioned was great, as well as the drink the bartender made when I said "surprise me". You can tell that the staff, bartenders and cooks/chefs put their all into the food/drinks...it showed! All of the staff were super friendly, funny and gave excellent recommendations. They knew the menus and descriptions to make ordering easier (or more difficult because you then wanted to try everything)! LOL! They are located in Plaza Midwood on the corner of Plaza/McClintock, after passing the Harris Teeter. Parking can be challenging, depending on what day you go. But you might be able to find a space right in front if timed right. If not, you will find parking around the area and wherever you park, it's a great walk in the neighborhood. Based on the lighter foods at The Bar at Supperland, I can't wait to go back and try the main restaurant's mouthwatering options! This is one of those rare moments that I wish there was a 5+ star option. 5 somehow seems to fall short of the experience I had during one of the best dinners I've had in a very long time. The last time I felt this way was during my visit to Ever Andalo (I assure you, no coincidence there)! Every bit of this restaurant is culinary excellence at its core. The look and feel is elegant, Southern-classic, yet modern. I was completely blown away by the look and feel from the moment I walked through those doors. I've seen pictures and videos, but not a single one does it justice. The service was excellent; attentive, informative, knowledgeable of the dishes. The food works well to share family style, with the mains & sides appropriate for at least 2 people. We ordered a variety of things at our table for 4 and not a single one disappointed. I woke up this morning dreaming about the next visit. Supperland is hard to put into words. I can't truly capture everything that it is. I suggest you go and see for yourself. This is one you won't want to wait on any longer on. Place was fire!!! Highly recommend if you can get in. We made reservations 3 weeks in advance to get in on a Saturday. Service was on point...almost too much. Server accidental took my cocktail sauce when I wasn't finish as I was saving it to use with my other shrimp on my plate. No biggie but a gentle reminder to always check with customers. The vibe is great in the place. We enjoyed talking with our server and the other patrons seated around us. We never felt rushed. I love that you can eat, relax and go back. We made use of the entire reservation time relaxing. They have some neat bistro in the place and the detail down to the silverware has a story. Nothing but awesome to say about the food. Special date night here with my wife. The old church interior is a truly unique visual experience. Glitzy chandeliers and wallpaper that almost looks like old tapestries creates a vibe all its own. We both thought the interior was a 5/5, but just were not blown away by the food and thought more of a 3/5, especially given the relative cost and the recommendation to pay for reservations. It's church potluck style, so it's more for sharing, but we found that the sides far exceed the entree(and were far less expensive). We started with the onion dip(and house made potato chips), then ordered and split the filet mignon with sides of the mac n cheese and carrots. The onion dip was fine, it came out hot and creamy, and the chips were not bad, but overall it was not something I would order again with the other options, rather uninspiring. Same went for the filet, for such a tasty cut of meat, the char/crust on the outside just made it feel like a cheaper cut of meat than what it is. Although it's exactly what I would expect at a potluck I suppose, at $68, it just left me wanting a more classic style steakhouse filet. Finally, we loved the sides! The Mac n cheese was filled with savory, creamy goodness, with just a hint of heat to the flavor, and the charred carrots were bursting with a slightly sweet flavor and sauce. Few recommendations if you come...don't pay for reservations if you're coming earlier. We were there at 5, and there was a ton of space for anyone to walk in. Later in the evening, it's probably more popular, but for us it was a complete waste. Also, our opinion was perhaps order some of the items you might actually see at a potluck, like more sides or the non steak items. Maybe I'm just going to the wrong church potlucks, but you don't usually see people bringing cuts of filet or ribeye, but you would definitely see Mac n cheese, baked brie or carrots; something to think about. No words. Just wow. We've been dying to try Supperland for awhile since they opened (and were unsure if it would be able to live up to all the hype it's been getting). Y'all. The hype doesn't even come close - it is beyond fantastic. The space feels so inviting, unique and special (loved how the menu listed so much of the restoration work they did). The staff are kind and great at giving helpful recommendations. The cocktails were MIND BLOWING (the peacock one was a showstopper and tasted even better than it looked). And then the food... I don't know if I've ever had such a hard time ordering - every single thing on the menu sounded up our alley. But we went with the sausage gravy croquettes with pickled onions (definition of comfort food, yet so elevated), then we shared the prime ribeye with some of the special chimichurri on the side (absolutely perfect steak - the waiter told us the beef is top 1% quality and it definitely tasted like it), the shrimp boil (amazing flavor), the bone marrow broccoli (great crunch and char) and the smashed potatoes (loved the paprika-based sauce under those). There was no "weak link" on that table of food - the last bite was as delicious as the first. Unreal. We finished with the banana cream pie (OH MY GOSH - over-the-top good with the mocha pudding-like filling, the homemade pie crust and the candied corn flakes to add a crunch on top!) and loved having decaf coffee in the beautiful hand painted tea cups with a little matching teapot. Supperland has been on the list for a while so I'm glad I finally got to stop in. I didn't realize that they were open so late, even during the week, but that is pretty cool. Sat in the bar area during our visit. I liked that it was intimate but you could still order from a limited menu. I ordered a cocktail - Vodka soda. It was pretty and taste was ok too. As for food, I tried the Meatballs, Crab cakes and Hot onion dip. Everything was really tasty. I was pretty hungry that night so I wished there were heartier items to choose from. The space is exquisite! The cocktails were great -- I thoroughly enjoyed pretty in a peacock. My friend enjoyed her drink brought over from The bar. Hot onion dip with homemade chips came out steaming and bubbling. So good! Baked Brie bites were small and scrumptious. The star of the sides was the mushroom risotto. It had a kick to it and I highly recommend it. The Brussels and carrots were good too. After reading about it in Bon Appétit, nearly 3,000 miles, a plane change in Chicago and a mad scramble to get a reservation (lucky to get one at 5 p.m.), I arrived. The bar, main dining room and gardens form a comfortable and relaxed space and the main dining room was what I expected: elegant and expansive, yet informal and casual. I ordered a skewer of charred Wedge and the Therapy Session IPA to start. I'm still not sure what to think of smoky, wilted, warm iceberg (oxymoron?) lettuce. It was a different experience for a huge fan of the Wedge and I think I'll leave it at that. For the main, I ordered the Poulet Rouge and a side of greens, then switched to the Eric Louis Sauvignon Blanc. Had I ordered the side of greens and stuck to the IPA, it would have worked, but the greens were so dominated by the apple cider vinegar that the rest of the meal was spent trying to tame it. To no avail. Nearly two hours and a couple of IPAs later, the vinegar's still there, lingering. (Note to the chef: a splash of vinegar goes a LONG way.) The sauvignon blanc didn't stand a chance, so I ordered another Therapy Session and the waiter asked if I didn't like the wine, looking at a glass still three-quarters full. Not the wine's fault, I said it was fine. It was actually good, once I got my tongue to behave. Same with the chicken. It was good, but would have been much better had I ordered a more mellow side, like the Smashed Potatoes or the Miso Mac & Cheese. For dessert, a cup of coffee and the Banana Cream Pie, which was a disappointment, except for the candied cornflakes. I was really hoping for BANANA cream pie, but instead got a rather stiff, nondescript cream filling that didn't taste like much of anything. And when it comes to pie for me, it has to have a great crust. Hard to get a read on the crust though. It was so thick and so hard that it required a he-man feat of strength just to break off a little piece. (I'm 6'0", 190 lbs. and work out three times a week to put it into perspective.) I switched to a knife and fork, but was afraid that a piece might shoot off and injure the couple next to me that I gave up in the name of safety. So, you've been warned. Which, I guess, sums up this review. Would I go again? Definitely! But definitely much wiser. read more

A delicious Hot Onion Dip with warm, homemade potato chips got our taste buds going, a Seven-Layered Salad brought them back to earth, and a mouthwatering skillet of Wagyu Pot Roast sent them home in style. Every dish was better than the last, including the succulent side of Miso Mac & Cheese and the insanely moist slice of Red Velvet Cake that still tempts me in my dreams. Parking can be tough to come by, and reservations even tougher, so book a table well in advance and come early to find a spot for your car nearby. The ambiance is 'upscale casual', so jeans are as acceptable as a sport jacket. And the restaurant ambiance is slightly boisterous, but not so much to interfere with a romantic dinner. Whether you come by for a formal dinner, drinks and entrees at the bar or a visit to the intimate basement Speakeasy, Supperland is a remarkable experience that you'll want revisit again and again. It's a phenomenal addition to Charlotte's restaurant scene, and a triumphant exploration of the cuisine that defines the American South. I can't recommend it highly enough. read more

Reservation set for Thursday at 5:30pm a month in advance.. You can pick 5,5:30 or 9pm.. Apparently any times in between have been gone for months. We opted to sit at the bar facing the kitchen. Honestly I couldn't have pick a better view and setting. I love their steampunk theme for all the appliances. And the heat was hitting us just so slightly in the face. Yet I can't imagine how all the chefs managing the stations can handle the intense heat. But it's wonderful to watch them make magic. Oliver was our waiter and he's such a joy to have in serving us that night. Very tentative, he understand the food. And he's more than helpful especially when we asked what's can can really is. I wanted the branzino. Yet they are out of that. However it's now 6pm. And the restaurant open at 5pm. So spoiled as I am. I threw a kid tantrum. But opted for the Prime Filet. Now I didn't like the prime like I hoped. Even though it's medium rare. The crust was way too chewy and tough. I didn't care for it., The roasted chicken is a 10 out of 5 stars. It made up where the Prime is lacking. Flavorful, nicely cooked and falling off the bones tender. And the broccoli and smash potatoes completed the meal. However, the headline of the night was the roasted oysters. They have a special way in warming the butter. And once it get drizzle over the oysters, nothing else is needed. Supper Land really did a good job with their food. Only hiccup was the prime filet and not having enough branzino for the night. But Would love to come back. read more

This was our 2nd dining experience at Supperland. Both experiences were equally as wonderful, but very different. So I feel I must touch on both. Our first time dining at Supperland, my husband and I brought our 2 foody boys with us. We sat in the main dinning area near the open kitchen. It is a STUNNING restaurant, from the large beautiful chandeliers, to the rustic old southern charm touches including the scalloped edge beautifully painted flatware and wooden pews. It is a nod to old charm and modern. We watched as the head chef examined every dish that were to go out. One of our sons has food allergies; and our server was very knowledgeable in helping us navigate the menu for him. We shared the sausage croquettes, seven-layer salad, charred wedge, Wagyu Pot Roast, Roasted Poulet, Smashed Potatoes, and the brussels. Our server also suggested the Porridge bread to accommodate the pot roast; and oh my gosh I'm so glad we ordered that as well. Our top favs were the croquettes, wedge, wagyu pot roast with the porridge bread and beet butter, and smashed potatoes. Literally some of the best things I've eaten, ever! The service was top notch! And everyone was so friendly! The head chef even allowed our foody boys an up close look at the kitchen area where he inspected every dish going out. This wasn't just a dinner, it was an EXPERIENCE! Our 2nd and recent experience was in their private dining room downstairs. We were a party of 12 adults celebrating a birthday. It was a perfect spot for an intimate setting. The table was square and allowed for conversations all around. The service was absolutely top notch! Every question was answered and timing of drinks, apps, entrees, and deserts were perfection. Every detail was paid attention to. The food was equally as wonderful as the first experience. I was happy to see an extended specials offering added to their menu; but my gosh it made for a difficult selection. My husband and I ordered some of our favorites from our first visit (charred wedge, pot roast, and smashed potatoes). All were exactly as we remembered...YUM!! From their seasonal menu we also ordered the shrimp ceviche and kale. In addition, we shared with another couple, the roasted oysters, charred carrots and brussels; and sampled their seasonal snapper entrée served over lentils. I really hope they add the snapper and the kale to their main menu. Both were devine! And the roasted oysters made it to the top of the list as well. I wish I had pics of the food, but we were just too excited and dug right in. Drinks were all incredible as well. My husband really enjoyed the smoked old fashion. I started out with a spicy skinny margarita which was perfection! Just enough spice, strong, and not sugary. We switch to wine, which we also enjoyed. They have a very nice selection. A coworker and I were in Charlotte this past week, and while researching restaurants I came across Supperland. I'm glad I did. What a great meal in such a cool space. Supperland is located in an old, renovated church, and has pews that are 200 years old, custom plates, and an open kitchen that looks incredible. To start we had the Sausage Gravy Croquettes, which were a fun play on the a breakfast favorite, as well as the Hot Onion Dip. For entrees we split a ribeye, which was one of the best steaks I've had in a while (and I eat a lot of steak), the bone marrow broccoli, and the mac and cheese, which had so many interesting layers to it. I was super excited to finally be going to Supperland - I have been wanting to try it out for quite some time. I made our reservation (prepaid) and waited in expectation. The atmosphere is nice - it's brightly lit, the decor is nice and the dinnerware and table settings is pretty. We were immediately seated and the restaurant wasn't too full for a Sunday. The food - just ok. Nothing was hot, even the served food we got from the serving stations. The corn frittata was ok, the shrimp and steak kebabs were salty, the grits were good but not hot. I've had Superland on my list for a while and finally went recently for dinner with two friends. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a great vibe. It can get noisy so be prepared. The menu isn't huge but has something for everyone and the portions are large, family style. We shared an order of crispy smashed potatoes and an order of cauliflower (special) and those were my favorite items of the meal. I had the chicken for my entree. It was good but fairly average. The desserts were good and not overly sweet. Cocktails were good, the "Trust the Process" was nice an unexpected. The biggest negative was with service. I don't know how to describe it other than odd. It was slow and awkward. That I can overlook but we were surprised to watch, on multiple occasions, our server taking our unused utensils and putting them back in their cutlery box to give out to others. What if we touched them, licked them, or coughed on them?? Even if other places do this, it is not normal and it's gross. At least have the decency to do it out of view. read more

The hype for Supperland was real and it did not disappoint. It is one of the best meals I've had in Charlotte. Go with a group of at least 4 people so you can try more. It's all family style so the portions are large. Our group tried: - All That Glitters - The Dangerous Ones - Roasted Oysters - Sweet Potato Dip - Waygu Pot Roast - Pork Can Can - Blackened Onions - Miso Mac & Cheese - Ambrosia Salad - Mushroom Risotto - Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Cherry Pie There wasn't a single dish I didn't like. My must order items would be the Pork Can Can, Blackened Onions, and Miso Mac & Cheese. The cherry mustard compote on the Pork Can Can is simply amazing. The pork is cooked perfectly to melt in your mouth. There is some kind of magic happening with the Blackened Onions. You might be tempted to skip them since they sound simple and that would be a mistake. The addition of miso to Mac & Cheese is pure genius. The one thing I'd skip is the Wagyu Pot Roast. The sauce with it was delicious, but the meat itself was kind of dry and not very flavorful. Cute, quaint, and intimate. I loved the open, airy feel and rustic charm of an old sanctuary turned feeding sanctuary as both are nourishment to the soul. The seating and structure are also used in a unique homage to the temple. The pews have been refinished and are quite comfortable. The additional bar around back is sleek, stylish, and posh. They do a great job of spacing the visits to allow time for patrons in small thigh places. We had a wonderful server, but it's always about the food. Overall, the food is a solid 4/10, maybe mid at best. We came for the Sunday brunch. There is an assortment of food with various stations beside the cutest cocktail concoctions. There is a skewer section with beef, shrimp, and veggies. A lovely take on grits with a sausage creme sauce and a Frittata station with sausage. The center island has an assortment of pastries, sandos, deviled eggs, custards, and fruit. They staff provide a walking assortment of oysters, Cinnamon Rolls, and a shrimp cocktail with fresh horseradish sauce. Let's dive into the food. If you are diabetic then do not venture in. The sausage and bacon both have added sugar. The sweets aren't overly sweet, though. You can pick and choose which to indulge in. The chocolate Pecan pie was good, but my favorite was the Ambrosia Salad. It was the highlight for me. The shrimp skewer was also heavily seasoned and delicious. Everything else was questionable. The Lobster Deviled eggs are beautiful and well portioned, but there's no seasoning. It's bland. The cream for the fruit cup was also bland. The Frittata has no seasoning in it either. The potatoes were roasted beautifully and fried but again. Absolutely, no seasoning. That is the general theam here. My party was severally disappointed as she looked forward to this event but I wasn't. I didn't even look up the menu beforehand. She's an oysters person and said they fell flat. I did not try them, but I did try the rounds of cinnamon rolls and shrimp shooters and thought they were both delicious. The oysters are given out in rounds, so be mindful. I became full, so I didn't get the Eggs Benedict, but they looked phenomenal. If you are a seasoning person, then put some hotsauce and salt/pepper in that Gucci and go! I gave it a solid 6/10, which includes everything: food, ambiance, and service. It's definitely not worth $65; more so half. However, if you're looking to impress someone or try something unique and much more calm, then this is a great route to go. Don't have too high expectations and use the time to spend with your company. The serving portions are small, but I really liked that aspect of the meal. read more

Congratulations, Supperland, you're my first-ever single-star review. And we didn't even have the opportunity to dine here. Why? Because your reservation process for brunch requires 100% payment in advance. Many apparently don't seem to mind this because your brunch service is nearly fully-booked a month in advance. But I don't recall ever, ever, being required to fully pay when making reservations for a meal. I'm OK being charged a penalty for late cancellation, this is reasonable for fine dining. I don't even particularly begrudge the rare occasions when we've been asked to make an up-front deposit fee at a restaurant. However, I do very much mind making advance full payments for any service. This is not a practice I will support. One might even say it's "dis-tasteful". We were looking forward to dining at Supperland, but you've lost a customer. read more

Supperland in Charlotte, NC is a former church turned restaurant that now offers brunch on Saturday/Sunday. I recently joined a group of friends who were celebrating their June birthdays for brunch on a Saturday. As advised on their website, reservations were required and we had to pre pay for the buffet. The cost was $65 and does not include beverages. Parking in the area wasn't the easiest to find for our 11am reservation but alas once we did, it was all good from there. Once we walked through the doors of Supperland , we knew we were going to be well taken care of. The ambiance was warm, inviting and still had a bit of southern church appeal to it. It felt like you were dining with family because of the intimate setting. It was unique to see some of the church pews still being used for seating! Food was amazing --from grilled options, to classic southern dishes and other delicious bites, there is something for everyone on the buffet. Service doesn't stop with just your waiter but you have access to several servers because they are constantly bringing things to your table like fresh made cinnamon rolls, passed appetizers like oysters and shrimp and more! It was also very thoughtful at the end of meal to present the ladies with birthday cards to remember their dining experience! read more

Where do I even begin?! I guess let's start with the concept. The building that houses the restaurant is a restored mid-century church. It has that Southern charm with an upscale feel. They definitely deliver when it comes to all the attention to details and touches. From the decor, to the seating (using old church pew benches), to their custom dishes. It's all so beautifully designed and selected. Now let's get to the food. The menu definitely lends more to family style, which I am all about! We came for my husband's birthday and invited 7 other friends. We ordered almost everything on the menu, so we were able to try more than if it would have just been the two of us. Here are the dishes we ordered: Starters: - Roasted oysters - DELICIOUS! With the smoking ember butter, it's such a good balance of flavors. - Hot onion dip - This was good! - Baked brie bites - This was definitely sweeter than I thought but still very delicious. The puff pastry was flakey and baked perfectly. - Sausage gravy croquets - YUM! The outside was crispy with a tender and moist (sorry) center. The brininess of the pickled onions on top help balance the richness of everything. Mains: - Prime ribeye - We order medium rare and they delivered. A very deliciously seasoned steak. - Wagyu pot roast - I personally was not a big fan of this dish. I found the meat to be slightly overcooked, so it started to have a sort of chalkiness to it. The gravy, however, was delicious. - Roasted poulet rouge - The chimichurri sauce on the chicken was delicious! - Pork can can - Probably my favorite of the mains. SO good! The compote complimented the pork so well without being overly sweet. - Spatchcocked branzino - I love a good branzino and Supperland delivered. I love that they offer the whole fish; head and all. Sides: - Miso mac & cheese - Delicious! Get it!!! - Smashed potatoes - Also very delicious. - Mushroom risotto - Not my favorite side but still very good. - Bone marrow broccoli - You can taste a little bit of the fatty goodness from the bone marrow, so it elevated a kind of basic vegetable. It was delicious. - Wood-oven brussels - Delicious! I love the char on it, which helped cut some of the bitterness. The fresh lemon also adds some brightness to the dish. - Blackened onions - OMG!!! Get this! Because it's cooked for as long as it is and charred in the process, all the sweetness of the onion comes out and it is to die for! Finally, the service. Our waitress, Kennedy, was awesome! She had patience with our big party and answered all questions I had when ordering for the group. She was informative on the dishes and the cocktails. She was also very friendly and even though she had a mask on, you could see in her eyes that she would always walk up with a smile. All the other staff members were great. One of the guys even offering to wait to pour the butter for the oysters in case someone wanted to take a video (PS - I did! Haha). Overall, our experience was great and we'll be back again to check out the bar in the other building. PS - If you've made it this far into my review, they opened up a Speakeasy!
