We chose Supperland for our 20th wedding anniversary special occasion. When we arrived for our reservation, we were seated and given a nice Happy Anniversary card by the establishment. Our appetizer of 6 blue point oysters was terrific, but took 30 minutes to make it to our table. Once it did come out, the manager brought it and said it was on the house due to the wait. We decided on the New York Strip, Cast Iron Corn Salad and Chopped Potatoes. The portions are such that most of the entrees can be split and the sides are all à la carte. All of the food was very good and we actually had enough left to take a small box home. The reason for the 4 star rating is the long wait time and appetizer oversight, lack of espresso, as well as the fact that our bill had two deserts on it that we did not order. Going to Supperland for weekend brunch is more than just brunch; it's a fun, friendly yet leisurely upscale dining experience with all the vibes that all foodies should try while in Charlotte! Supperland was an old church back in the day and it's absolutely beautiful; the natural lighting and the way everything is set up is just so lovely yet comfortable. For brunch, everything is buffet style however you are being served by their extremely talented chefs; all the food is hot, fresh and seasoned perfectly. They have a couple of tables with little hors d'oeuvres and snacks; some are savory and some are sweet, but I suggest you try them all. They also have a couple of servers that come around with some yummy things like mini cinnamon rolls (soooo good), fresh oysters and shrimp cocktail. Service was extremely professional, helpful and friendly. Also had the pleasure of meeting Walter the restaurants manager and he was just wonderful! Overall, we had a great date night experience at Supperland. We made a Saturday reservation AT LEAST a month in advance (I think more) because it can be hard to get in. We started the night at the bar @ Supperland which is in a separate building next door. The decor is super cute and I think you can eat dinner here without a reservation, they just have a smaller menu. The bartender was so friendly and kind and made me a custom fun cocktail since I'm currently pregnant. After our drink we headed next door for our reservation. The vibe at Supperland is a big part of the appeal. It's a renovated old church so my seat for the evening was a pew. So cute. It also comes across as a nice location, but not stiff white table cloth nice. For food we had the following: Sausage Gravy Croquettes: not usually something I'd gravitate toward by husband wanted to try them. Delicious. The pickled onion is the perfect thing to break up the heaviness and they have a nice crunch. Roasted Poulet Rouge: Maybe the best chicken dish I've had at a restaurant. It was not dry AT ALL and the flavor combination with the bacon, onions and sauce were great. Wood-Oven Brussels: I usually prefer crisp Brussels but these had so much good flavor I didn't mind the consistency of them. The bacon and lemon perfectly balanced each other. Smashed Potatoes: Amazing. Crispy and salty with a delicious aioli I wanted more of to put on everything! Overall, the vibe and the food were spot on. More of a 4.5 than a 4, came here for brunch only to see that I had booked for the next weekend instead of this weekend. Hearing that I wasn't going to be in town for the actual reservation, the hostess spoke to the manager and they were able to find a no show whose time we were able to fill. Much appreciated on the part of Walter and his staff. The food choices seem to focus on quality over quantity, since I've been to buffets with 5x the options, but they could also fit 5x the people. This place seems to know what their limits are and focuses on providing quality food with the limited space they can. I particularly enjoyed the filet skewers and eggs Benedict, but I kept coming back to the salmon tartines. Just simple, good ingredients prepared in delicious ways. The staff checks on you regularly and are on top of their game. If you're looking for a huge selection of everything under the sun, this won't be the buffet for you. An overpriced novel take on a steakhouse, unfortunately they missed the mark in every way. I'm the minority here given the accolades this place has received but I have a long list of why to avoid this place. The service was excellent, the PBR was cold, but the $73 ribeye was charred to a crisp given the flame pit they cook it in. The grilled wedge looked nice but eating warm and wilted lettuce isn't my thing. After paying $7 for a reservation on a Tuesday night, which I find insulting, I was fleeced at every turn by an interesting menu which makes it almost impossible to find actual value in any choice. This is a place to open your wallet and dress for the occasion, not to enjoy the actual meal's level of quality or preparation. I dropped $350 on two glasses of wine, two salads, a steak, beef ribs, bread( not included), two sides, two cocktails and a glass of PBR and a 20% tip. No dessert, no sludge-tastic experience. If someone else is paying, I'm in. But would throw in a Del Frisco's or even Capitol Grill vote beforehand. Even Beef and Bottle beats this place. And they don't charge for reservations. I've had enough fine dining to know that they've finally found the edges of what people are willing to pay for here. Fabricated exclusivity, check. Supperland is, without a doubt, the best restaurant I've been to in Charlotte. My wife and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary here, and everything about the experience was perfect. Our server, Alicia, provided the best service I've ever had in a restaurant. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable she made us feel so special throughout the evening. The food was brought out all at once perfectly timed, and every single dish was phenomenal. We had the miso mac and cheese, which was creamy and indulgent, the mushroom risotto that was to die for, crispy smashed potatoes with a sauce I couldn't get enough of, and a perfectly cooked medium-rare prime ribeye. For dessert, we enjoyed the fluffiest chocolate chip cookies that were warm, gooey, and absolutely heavenly. The drinks were just as impressive. I had a golden onion martini that was unexpectedly delicious and innovative, and I also tried limoncello for the first time and i'm glad i had it here, it was bright, refreshing, and left a lasting impression. The ambiance of the restaurant was stunning, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion. The best part? Came as a group of 10 and not impressed. No parking available. This place used to be a church, so how is there no parking lot ? All businesses surrounding it have tow warnings, even Harris Teeter. Inside is pretty. Food was ok, but burned on top. All steaks and chicken were black on top, which gives the meat a bitter flavor. One lady was given her chicken leg entree at the END of our meal. They did comp it, but still. We all felt awkward eating in front of her, and we were all giving her parts of our food. One lady got the lobster tail and it was COLD. She paid $64 for it and it was cold ! She never said anything to management because she was hungry and didn't want to have to wait on food like the lady having chicken. I also got the baked brie pastry puffs. The orange rind made them bitter-tasting and me and the lady I shared them with didn't like them. I ordered my Ribeye steak Medium and it came Medium-well. The flavor would have been good if it was not burned on top. The girl next to me got the filet with colossal shrimp and didn't like her burnt on top steak either. She ate 1 shrimp and 2 pieces of steak. You would think the waiter would ask why she did not eat her food. I did like the roasted brussel sprouts. 2 ladies got the waygu pot roast and the flavor was good, but the meat was VERY fatty. I tried a piece of the wedge salad, and it was good. I also tried one of the baked oysters. It was very fishy tasting. We didn't try any dessert since the rest of the food was not very good and 1 piece of cherry pie was $19. I did like the decor. The church vibe gave it a unique dining atmosphere, but the open kitchen also reminded you that it is indeed a descent restaurant. The cherry sauce on the top was delicious - however I believe not everyone could adore its sweet & salty flavor, even with a bit sour. Hands down the best meal we've had in Charlotte. Supperland you need to go here for an elevated experience! The service was impeccable! The best we've seen. The food was about flavors and presentation! The charred oysters were just barely charred but they were served with clarified butter with a lump of charred wood in the pitcher. They finished cooking by pouring the sizzling butter on top. Incredible! Wife had shrimp cocktail that was paired with cocktail sauce with fresh horseradish! Yum! Entrees are designed to be shared. We had Pork Can Can. It was a whole Cheshire pork loin and belly in a cherry-mustard compote. Absolutely delicious. Best pork dish ever! For sides we had charred carrots(ginger goat cheese sauce), blackened onions(in sizzling clarified butter) and wood oven brussels(Dijon, bacon fat, lardons and pecans). The sides were all incredible. After a cocktail and wine we managed to share a dessert of Strawberry Shortcake-the basil chantilly cream was a perfect topping for this dessert. We can't wait to go here again. We were in town for a family reunion, and we went looking for Genuine Charlotte on a muggy Friday dinnertime. I think we found it. If I don't have a credible recommendation from a friend, I turned to Yelp. One key indicator for me in addition to the number of stars is the photos that show how large and potentially noisy a place appears to be. It doesn't matter how amazing the food might be, I'd rather have tuna casserole and be able to enjoy my dinner companions . Supperland is located in a repurposed church. Dining in the former sanctuary looks like it might be hard to hear table conversation. It looked like the blazing oven had been placed where the altar used to be. Those poor chefs in the July heat look like they were stalking a locomotive's boiler . We asked for a quieter space and they took us to an addition next to a deck with about 10 tables in it. Same amazing menu, by the way. We had to stand and wait for a table to open up, but the host made sure we got our cocktails and a comfortable place to stand. We subsequently moved out to the deck table and placed our dinner order. Our waiter was really on the ball and suggested that rain was likely to be coming soon and so we took our cocktails (which were potent and luscious by the way to a nice little four top inside. The yelp photos and reviews are completely justified. We were going to order four entrées and the waiter cautioned us to order more modestly because they serve large here. The side dishes alone were worth the price of admission. I won't go into details, but the service was welcoming and attentive without being obtrusive. After bringing our waters, we placed an order for appetizers and left us to look over the drink menu - it didn't take long for us to decide so we placed our drink orders and waited patiently. Y'all... we waited for 2 minutes (or less) for three specialty cocktails, not exaggerating here. Did Mitchell have those in his back pocket and I missed it? Lol We ordered a crab cake and grilled oysters to get the meal started and both were mouth watering good. I admit, I normally push the greens, that's served with crab cakes, to the side but I enjoyed every bit of the greens as well. The grilled oysters didn't stand a chance either after the gentleman (sorry, missed his name) from the kitchen delicately poured the butter over them. Just as we were clearing out plates, our food was being brought out to the table. The food is served family style so the idea is that you'll share with those at your table, so we all agreed on Wagyu Pot Roast (served in the iron Dutch oven it's cooked in), Roasted Poulet Rouge, Miso Mac & Cheese, Wood-Oven Brussels and Smashed Potatoes. And once we were stuffed and happier than when we entered, our waiter brought us warm towels to wipe our hands.... But the kicker is... it was only 9:57pm! Supperland is a fun and creative way of dining. I love the concept. No walk-ins allowed. You MUST make a reservation. So they know how many people will be in the restaurant at all times. It's light and bright inside. A lot of the charm of a church is historically kept alive for preservation. Beautiful chandeliers, wall sconces and muted color brick walls. Food is served on beautiful antique plates and flatware. Coffee is even served in antique coffee pots. All food is buffet style. I came for brunch. This was the setup for brunch: dessert bar, hot bar with 2 areas. Beverages range from water, spritzers, cocktails, coffees and everything in between. I can't add enough videos and pics. It's fair to say that this restaurant is capable of five stars. This was one of, if not the best meals we had while visiting Charlotte. Yes, it's pricy but in my opinion worth it based on the quality. The reason I can't give five stars is not because of the food, it's because it took an awfully long time for our dinner to get to our table. The bad: I was a little off put by the fact when making a brunch reservation it asks for full payment in advance, it's $65 per adult, but by the time fees are added, you're looking at a price tag of $86. For ONE person. For BRUNCH. But I'm a foodie and love trying new places at least once, so bit the bullet and made the reservation. And I will admit, I tasted nothing that would justify that high price tag. Sure food was good, but certainly not spectacular for that price. I guess paying more for the ambience than actual food choices. Tiny tea sandwiches, dry cookies, basic tasting shrimp and grits etc, I mean I just cannot justify that price tag. I decided to stop by Supperland on the last night of my trip to Charlotte considering all the great things I've seen about the restaurant online. I was initially intrigued by the history of the building being a church that was turned into a restaurant over time. You can definitely notice the architecture of a church upon walking up to the restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by friendly hosts and are able to take in the beautiful chandeliers. Keeping with the church aesthetic, I was seated at a table where one side is actually shared with other guests as it is a church pew bench. I started with their Maybe Tomorrow cocktail which was really good before ordering dinner. As a first timer, my server graciously explained the menu and shared some personal favorites. I took his advice and ordered the chicken, miso mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. It's a wonderful atmosphere, however, I think the food was a bit bland. The chimichurri on the chicken was good, but the meat it self lacked salt. I was told the miso mac would have some kick to it, but it did not. I'm happy to say that the brussel sprouts were good though. I did appreciate the fresh ingredients, but I think their Starter menu is probably what really shines. There was a table with two young women right next to me that shared a few starters that looked delicious and could ultimately be a meal when just chatting with some friends over cocktails. As a treat, I decided to end with an espresso martini and the coconut cream pie. Both were still so so, in my opinion. The server was transparent to explain that the restaurant uses an espresso infused spirit as they don't serve espresso and I also noticed that they finish off Italian style with fresh lemon which threw me off some. New experiences always remind me that you don't know what you don't know, which is why it's great to try new things. Knowing what I know now, I'll do different if I choose to visit again. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened! I have tried to walk in before but was deterred by the long wait, therefore, I made a reservation for an early weeknight dinner- easy! My husband and I found parking pretty easily on the street- don't park in Harris as there are signs up that they tow. Upon entering the restored church, I was immediately taken back at how beautifully the interior was done. I love that the original church pews account for seating. We started with the onion dip which was just ok in my opinion and next time I would opt for the Brie bites. At the recommendation of our waitress, we split a steak and ordered some sides. In this case, our sides of miso Mac and cheese as well as carrots stole the show. I loved how the miso flavored made this Mac and cheese stand out. The charred carrots were excellent and prosperous - the spicy glaze was great too! I definitely think ordering more sides is the way to go! The $68 steak was unfortunately forgettable and outshined by the rest of the offerings. We ordered medium and although the center was perfect, the outside was almost burnt/charred. A beautifully decorated old church turned restaurant was a must try for us. However, trying to get a reservation was a little annoying. Supperland is constantly busy, which is not a bad thing, so we knew reservations were a must. We booked a table for about a month out but the part that was annoying wasn't the fact we had to book so far out. The annoying part was that you have to pay to make a reservation. I'm not sure what the value is of this as every restaurant that takes reservations and I've never had a single one charge. AND it's $3 per person. I'd understand it is this fee went to curing cancer or feeding the hungry but it appears as if this is just a way to either make more money or pay for the reservation engine. Again, I've never been charged for reservations before. Now on to the food and service. Our waiter was brand new and the night we went was his first night on his own. He did very well and was attentive and super friendly. There is also a "wine manager" (not sure if he is a Sommelier) on staff and standing by to help make wine recommendations. This was a nice touch and somewhat expected given the prices. Our order was sausage and gravy croquettes and raw oysters for starters. Then I got the branzino and risotto. I did get a pairing of wine for both courses and what a great experience. Everything tasted flavorful, wonderfully cooked (except the the oysters of course) and the pairing was to perfection. I'm not 100% sure if I would go back or not mainly due to the reservation fee. Again, I feel this was excessive and given all of the options in Charlotte I'm not sure I want to pay extra to make a reservation. read more

The prime rib wasn't the main attraction to the meal with a bunch of supporting dishes. This was an ensemble cast of food playing their parts to perfection. To each their own, while it was still delicious, I prefer the risotto to not be as runny but I'm not a chef I just eat what's in front of me. Amazing food. Great service. Beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended. Never felt rushed even though we got there a little late.

Wow. I was blown away by this buffet. It was really upscale and classy. The waitstaff were so attentive and our plates for kept filled and or scooped away as we ate. The restaurant is a former church and I loved the ambiance. They kept come of the old pews and used the space well. I recommend this place for your next holiday meal.
