First of all, as someone who does not eat pork, the options available on menu were pretty limited. I wanted to try out the chive pancakes but they were out of those. Xiaolongbao, buns and dumpling restaurant in downtown Kirkland. Small to mid-size space, with clean modern decor. Compared to the Bellevue location, this location seems more spacious and they can open the garage doors in the front on nice weather days. Went on a Saturday night and the whole area was pretty busy, but we didn't need to wait too long for a table. Parking on the street is difficult, but the big public garage is pretty close. Same menu as the Bellevue location. It's not a big menu, has some small dishes, and various buns and dumplings. Things we tried - pork xiaolongbao: their signature dish. Tasted pretty good. The skin was thin but held up well enough when picked up with chopsticks. - pan fried buns: nice crispy pan fried bottom on the buns, but the bun is a little stickier than we are used to, and the meat could use a little more seasoning - fried pork chop: doesn't have much of a crust, but soft and flavor was good - drunken chicken: they make it with the rolled chicken thigh meat, which is different than other drunken chicken that I've had before. The meat was a bit coarse, and the flavor was more herbal than rice wine flavor. Weakest dish of the night. - garlic stir fried yu choy: tasted pretty good, and decent portions for the price - mushroom fried rice: need to wait extra time for it as the restaurant makes it in batches. Free parking was easy a couple blocks away. We had a reservation, so we were seated right away. The table ordered a peach tea - not my preference. We got string beans; I loved the mushrooms, but the fish needed more salt and the beans were a bit overdone. The pork dumplings and spicy dumplings were solid, but I think slightly below Din Thai Fung. The table really liked the pan fried leak pie. I enjoyed the tan tan noodles the best. Those dishes all came out fairly quick (~10 min of ordering), and before we finished them we decided to order 1 more thing - mini pan fried dumplings. We waited, waited, and waited some more. Finally 20 min after we finished our food, we flagged down our waitress (who had seemed to be avoiding us), and she said, "I've got to be honest with you. Your food came up and got put in a to go order." By this point, we were just ready to go and asked her to remove it and bring the bill. It was a disappointing end. Why not tell us right away what had happened rather than having us wait longer? We went to 85degrees to fill the hole left by the unfinished order. 4 star food, 3 star experience. The dishes that fell flat for me were the pork chops (not enough flavor), wonton soup (broth super salty), leek pie (too wet, not enough flavor), and the high-priced tea is just tea bags instead of loose leaf. The atmosphere is beautiful, and staff is friendly although not always that knowledgeable about the food. Be wary of coming if you have more than 4 in a group. The table setups are all only for 4 people and you may have to squeeze into a tight spot or wait longer for two tables close to each other to clear out. When I finished I was satiated but not overly full, i.e. the size was perfect. Tasted fine, although I like it spicier. It does have peanuts so beware if allergic. The payment system was annoying as the lowest tip % option provided out of three was 20%, middle option was 25%. My mind won't allow me to remember the highest option. Supreme Dumpling is a Taiwanese style soup dumpling restaurant with menu similar to Din Tai Fung. The differences between Supreme and DTF's crab and pork soup dumpling are that the skin of the xiao long bao is thicker, more chewy with less folds and the soup is heavier. Their mini pan fried dumplings are juicy and crispy, and easier to eat than the original size pan friend dumplings. However, the meat filling of both type of dumplings is not as refined and tasty as DTF. My favorite dish here is their pork chop, which is lightly fried for a crispy and tender texture and just the right amount of salt and pepper spice. Overall, while Supreme Dumplings has a smaller menu and ingredients used is less refined than DTF, it is a decent Asian restaurant for the Kirkland downtown area. read more

I've dined in multiple times so far. And while the majority of my visits were pleasant, the most recent one was not. First, I'll just say that the food is definitely decent. I especially love their pork chop -- way above din tai fung. Their pork soup dumplings wrap is a lot more chewier in texture which I'm not a fan of but I know that's a preference issue. But generally I enjoy their food. My main complaint has to do with experience -- both service and cleanliness. The last time I visited, which was about 1.5 weeks ago, my friends and I were about the 3rd group waiting to be seated (there were a total of about 4 groups waiting). There were only two groups seated in the entire restaurant but every single table was not bussed. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but it was clearly not busy enough to justify not cleaning tables since there were only two small groups seated. It really made us wonder what the wait staff was doing right before we all got there! The waiters at Supreme also seem extremely young (maybe early 20s?) -- presumably. And maybe inexperienced. They're the sweetest guys but they're quite slow. Once we got seated (closer to the kitchen area rather than door side), I smelled a subtle stench. To be honest, it smelled like something you'd smell in a dirty alleyway, like old urine. I didn't want to make a fuss about it so I just switched to the chair next to me since we were on a 4-seater. It was less noticeable there. But the smell ruined my appetite, but I endured. The rest of the evening was filled with a lot of reminders to the waiter about missing certain things- like a drink we had ordered, our ginger, etc. At one point, when we reminded the waiter, he sighed and said something under his breath. It didn't bother us but reinforced their inexperience. Overall, decent food but I wonder about the type of training they're receiving and how clean this establishment actually is. read more

Pork Chop Fried Rice $15.50 - the pork chop is breaded and served in slices on top of fried ride. It was tasty and good. Kind of hard to eat the pork chop though because some had bones (you'd have to hold the bone and gnaw around if you want to get the meat). Braised Beef Noodle Soup $14.50 - a bit disappointed on the appearance. I was expecting the broth to be dark. Instead it was clear, like chicken broth. It's not bad, but my taste bud got confused because eyes/brain are expecting this intense beef flavor and it wasn't. Shrimp & Pork Xian Long Bao (8) $14.00 - Not the bao I'm used to but this dish is very flavorful! I'd order this again! The taste of shrimp and pork were nice. Stir Fried String Beans $15.00 - another flavorful dish! Peach Oolong $4.75 - disappointed on this one. They place 1 tea bag inside a pot of hot water that could serve 4. It was bland. I was expecting the strong taste of Oolong and it was lacking. I would go back again and try the other dishes. Sorry, no pics. This was a lunch meeting. I'll say it, this place was just okay. Was really excited as it's been awhile since we've had a good place occupy this space in the heart of downtown Kirkland. Parking is minimal unless you want to pay so keep that in mind! Inside the decor is delicate and beautiful, the staff was nice and the service was decent. Food came out really quick but I felt the quality was not great. We are big din tai Fung fans and I had high hopes for these dumplings but sadly they did not compare. Very soupy which was yummy but almost too much soup to the point the filling was soggy and an unpleasant texture. The flavor profiles were alright, chicken was good but I normally love pork and they were just like mush filled in the center - not great. The green beans were really tough and felt undercooked. I thought Din Tai Fung was good, but Supreme Dumplings is serious competition!! I really love this place. We were promptly seated by a smiling hostess. The decor is very beautiful, and there is some glass partitions to offer some kind of privacy. Long gone are the days when dim sum carts rolled around your table, and you point and choose. Nowadays there are paper order forms, or QR codes. The xiu long bao or soup dumplings are so delicious here. Thin dough, good tasting fillings, plenty of soup inside! Be careful, the soup is still hot too! The spicy won tons are good, and there are pan fried dumplings.. beef stew noodle soup... I especially love sesame seed balls, the fried ones with red bean or yellow bean filling. But I made a mistake and did not say " fried". But it was a happy mistake, I got to try the sesame rice balls, they are mochi. There are two kinds, matcha and peanut. I love the peanut ones, so flavorful!! I also tried the charcoal one with lava egg inside. Beautiful to look at, so tasty in the mouth! Service is excellent, the food came in courses, not brought to the table all at the same time.
