This review is long overdue. It's a hidden gem. When we walked in for the first time, they were making fresh dumplings. Believe me, it doesn't get any better than that! Pro-tip: Always order whatever was made fresh that day. That's what keeps us coming back - how fresh the food is. We love it and have become regulars. My favorites: Beef pockets, Napa cabbage salad, lamb pot stickers, steamed mackerel, and the eel bowl! There's magic in them, I swear. Hubby also loves the pig's ear. My kids enjoyed the beef noodle soup (sorry no pic of that), but the whole family loves Xiao long bao. We used to frequent other big name dumpling houses but have stopped. Yang's has won us over. We have been coming to Yang's almost weekly since our first dinner. We are so impressed with the freshness and consistency, and just simple goodness. Don't let the pinched parking lot scare you away. Came here on a Sunday night and it was completely empty. You basically just shout for service at your table, but I think that's just expected because that's what they did to us, lol. The food wasn't expensive, it tasted good, and the service was polite. I wouldn't call it friendly... but that's fine. Not sure why the reviews are so low. This place is a low key no frills solid dumpling spot. Everything is homemade - you can literally see the employees making the dumplings. We ordered the seaweed app, a braised pork rice dish, and two plates of boiled dumplings. Everything was tasty- favorite was the pork, chive and shrimp dumpling. Service was also so personable- water always refilled, constantly checking if we needed anything. It's a great neighborhood spot if you are craving some good homemade dumplings. We ordered through online, and received 6 dumplings pan fried, 6 boiled dumplings, spicy wonton (6 pc), small soup and wonton, and popcorn chicken for almost 60 bucks. This was a meal for me and my husband, and we were left still pretty hungry afterwards. I would recommend going in person - perhaps the experience will be better. We gave Yang's a whirl today - just moved to Rose Hill a few days ago. Wonderful HOMEMADE noodles and dumplings. We tried: the sliced cold beef appie (good); the steamed broccoli (you need some greens with all of the noodles!); the shrimp, pork and chive dumplings, and the pork bao. All tasty. Dumplings were not "cookie cutter" perfect looking like DTF, but really delicious. We could taste their homemade goodness in each bite. I have been a fan of Yang's since they were located in Crossroads, and they continue to serve delicious and authentic dumplings and buns (I've never had the noodles or rice dishes). The only down side is that they have raised their prices so it's pretty much a dollar a dumpling now, which is more than I had anticipated on spending when I went in. Two baskets of dumplings for over $24 seems a little crazy to me since they're not huge or anything. I like the dumplings. Simple as that. The restaurant menu is limited and at first glance the dumplings look plain and you question the cost versus what you received in the styrofoam take out box. However, the dumplings are delicious. We had 2 orders of pan fried beef and pork dumplings as well as an order of soup dumplings. The fried dumpling skin was thick and the inside was flavorful. The wonton soup dumplings did not fall apart even though they were soaking in soup. The soup smelled of Chinese parsley and although thin in viscosity the flavorful broth fairly burst through each sip. We happened to be in this area, so we had lunch at Yang's Dumpling House. They are open during COVID for dine in. We ordered the Juicy Bao (pork), and the Yummy Dumplings (shrimp, pork, chives). I think you can get them either steamed or pan fried. Make sure you specify which one you want. Our server didn't ask and I forgot there was a choice! The food is definitely handmade, but I wasn't that impressed. The food wasn't that flavorful and both items tasted similar. We were the only customers in the restaurant, but our server took a while to take our order. We also waited a really long time to get our food. This place is really overpriced for what you get. Searched dim sum place close to the Kirkland area and found this small little dumpling place. Everything is made to order and fresh therefore there is a bit of a wait to get your dishes served. This dumpling place is very similar to Din Tai Fung minus the ambience. The Dumpling selections almost all look the same when it was served whether you ordered pork or shrimp. It was flavorful but not spectacular. Service was fast and efficient. Price was middle range a bit overpriced. Ordered a soup wanton and it came in a small bowl with nothing really in it except wontons. Dumpling serving was decent. Place is small so large parties probably call ahead. read more

This place is simply amazing. I am very particular about my food. I'm not one to try to many new places. I always need to know I will love my meal. One day I tried this place as it was close to my child's daycare. I ordered pork buns. I watched the family craft the delicious pork buns by hand and they even pan fry them for me. (Which was my special request). I couldn't believe how delicious they are!! This was about 2 years ago. I couldn't believe this place isn't packed. They are tucked away in a corner and a little hard to find. But if anyone tries this place you will not be disappointed. Now that we are in the midst of this COVID 19 pandemic. After visiting Yang's, I have to say, "Dang! I was hoping for sometime better." This is the closest dumpling place to my house, so I was hoping for great dumplings. Instead, I got ones that reminded me of those you can buy frozen at various Asian grocery stores. Not sure if the dumplings are made here or not. The three chest freezers in the dining room are full of frozen dumplings, and you will see the staff visit these and take your dumplings from them. So, that seems like they may be buying dumplings from somewhere else. But the several unique flavors (mackerel, squid, lamb, etc.) would argue for made in house. The dumplings have very thick dough, and I guess that could argue for either bought from a factory or clumsily made in house. So, not sure on this point. As I said, the dumplings have very thick skins. They are very doughy. The flavors are okay, but the doughiness of the dumplings make them much less enjoyable. I'd stop by if I was in the neighborhood and wanted a dumpling or two. But I won't make a special trip just to come here--even though it's only about five miles from my house. read more

I'll let the photos do the writing. I order beef noodle soup -- there was only 3 and a half finger length strips of beef, 3 over boiled broccoli florets, and and handful of noodles. I would have brought the whole dish back to the restaurant had it not been for a hungry family. The soup was also overly salty. Notice how all the food doesn't even fill up their containers. Come man, if you want to be cheap with your quantity of food at least use smaller containers to disguise it. The shrimp, pork, chives dumplings were mediocre. The dough thick and filling salty. Can't complain too much about quantity here though, so I give that 2 stars. The minced pork rice was a disaster. I got a whopping two, count em, TWO over boiled broccoli florets and some lumps of tough chewy pork that seemed they got pulled out of the Dead Sea (overly salty). The best part of this dish was the rice; and even that was just borderline. The salty sludge of the pork caused some of the rice to be inedible. They did a good job here though in disguising the quantity. Provide a big lump of cheap rice to make it seem like there's a abundance of food. Helpful tip to the owners, you can probably cost cut more by using smaller containers since it seems that's the general theme of your game. read more

Braised Beef Slices $13: My first time having this dish. I liked it! The thin cut slices reminded me of my love for carpaccio. Juicy Pork Bao $11: They look like soup dumplings, but they are not. You are not automatically given a spoon here, so these don't pretend to be soup dumplings either. Pork and Chinese Cabbage Dumplings $11: We ordered these pan-fried and were expecting it to be super crispy, like stuck-together-with-the-web-of-crispy level. These seemed to just be added to a pan for a super quick flash fry on one side then taken out. Still, I liked this the most of the 3 dumpling/bao items we ordered. I actually found it to be more juicy than the juicy pork bao. Steamed Pork Bau $11.50: Since we ordered 3 items with basically steamed pork filling, I was kind of over it at this point due to the repetitiveness. The food was fine, but I was just disappointed that it wasn't actually soup dumplings, which is typically my primary reason for going out for dumplings to begin with. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. I don't think she usually is a server because when we walked in there was no "Hi welcome! Please have a seat" . Everything was just quiet. So we found a table to sit. There was another couple that was sitting there before us that's all. Food was good she was good. She just has to learn how to greet people. Yang's is run by a couple from Northern China. This means that they provide a certain flavor profile: nourishing, filling food appropriate to China's coldest climates. This means dumplings made with thick, well-kneaded wrappers over meaty and deliciously seasoned fillings. If you're looking for dainty wonton-thin wrappers, or slimmer gyoza-style potstickers, this isn't it. But this IS an authentic, heart-warming experience; Mrs. Yang takes so much pride in her hand-made dumplings. I haven't had anything but the boiled pork&cabbage dumplings (love that you get 15 per order if they're boiled as opposed to steamed or fried), pork&shrimp&chives boiled dumplings, and pork soup dumplings, but every item was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu! Forget what other people are saying about the dumplings being too stodgy. My family is from northern China, and I've lived in Beijing. We came here for a family dinner after shopping at Costco. Great location for Costco shoppers! The restaurant itself was very clean. The waiter seemed inexperienced, but he was very courteous. We ordered different favors of dumplings, chicken noodle, pork noodle, and pork buns. All of them were pretty good. The only thing that bothers me was they actually only took cash, despite that there was a sign saying cash only for order less than $15. For the entire family, our order was around $67. Who would bring that much cash around? We paid them all the cash we had, so we tipped them much less than we normally do. Well, we almost ran out of our cash, we couldn't tip that much.
