Took my family here on a Sunday evening in April, 2016. We had hot seafood stew, grilled mackerel and bulgogi. All dishes, including the side dishes, were prepared with fresh ingredients. Bulgogi was a bit too sweet for my taste, but very flavorful. All dishes that we had were better than what we could get from a lot of restaurants in Korea. The food that we had was as authentic as it could get. Our waiter was very attentive. The restroom was clean. The surrounding area is serene. GREAT place to pick up a healthy amazing lunch! This is great food and very nicely prepared! When I was a young mom in Phoenix Arizona 35 years ago I was surprised by the birth of my twins - I knew I was pregnant but surprised by the number at the time of delivery. I had a wonderful neighbor who was Korean, She brought me lunch every day for a month after the twins were born. Sura has the best Korean food in Ventura County! I think it even has its place among the best in Korea town LA. Everything is cooked fresh, looks pretty, and the food is very high quality. Flavors are tasty. I love their variety and quality of side dishes too. We usually get the combo meals with the ribs and soup. The seafood soup has the absolute best flavor! They always let us make small changes to our preference, like ask for more onions rather than bean sprouts. With most meals you'll get a tangy sweet small salad and a hot radish soup. Love the dolssot bibimbap (although could've used a bit more spicy pork), great crispy rice layer at bottom of nuclear-hot bowl. Also the soft tofu soup is a phenomenal bubbling cauldron, you get to choose the heat level you prefer and your choice of protein. The "zero spice" heat level of the soft tofu soup still has a ton of flavor. Love the banchan at this place: great kimchee, sweet black soybeans, fish cakes. They have both OB and Hite in large-format bottles. My 2nd time, really great authentic Korean food, as good as I've had in LA. I guess that i can't give this place a real rating, i guess that i don't care for Korean food very much. I did want to experience the real thing so i went here. Everything seemed to be unique so i think that is legit. I had the combo which allows you to order two things, so i went with the spicy pork and the orange chicken. Love eating here and ordering take out. The owners are really good people. The owners and staff make you feel at home, even yet, treat you like a really close friend. Really good food that you can't really find in Oxnard that comes close to the taste you find in South Korea. You can also order stuff that isn't on the menu, but you have to order them a day in advance - i.e. kimbap/gimbap... If you don't feel like cooking and want some Korean food, this is the place to eat at. I like a lot of the foods that they have. So you just have to try it all and be adventurous. The spicy soups, soy bean paste stew, the kbbq, Korean pancakes, etc. are all good. Came here after a recommendation of a Yelp friend. She was right, this place is great! We had the kimchi tofu soup and seafood tofu soup. Both were savory and filling. The purple rice was a nice addition along with the assorted sides of pickles, Korean potato and fish cake. I was sad when Swan closed but, happy there is a new Korean restaurant to go to again. I was looking for places to take my significant other for a Valentine's dinner when Sura came up, upon my searching. There aren't many Korean places to eat in Oxnard so I was surprised I haven't heard of it before, but I set my expectations high nevertheless as the reviews are great the food looked great. It's a rather small shop, but the location is great and the food is amazing. It was a busy night and it took some time (not too long) to get out food but I understood, and the waiters looked like they were working extremely hard. Food was delicious! We ordered jajangmyun, spicy chicken gui, steamed egg, and kimichi fried rice to go. All was so yummy and more than enough food for two people. There was 4 or 5 banchan served with our food. All really good ones that we liked (compared to the restaurants that give you a bunch of banchan but you don't eat each one). There was even banchan with our to go order. Service was very sweet! It probably helped that we came at 8pm, so there wasn't a crowd. My first time here. Had dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend. The place is cute and trendy. Nice friendly staff. It was a slow night so we got seated right away. No waiting! I didnt know what to order so my daughter suggested the tofu soup bowl. I ended up getting the mixed bowl which consist of tofu, shrimp and beef. For the level of spice I picked SPICY. I order some sort of chicken skewers as appetizer. It was good but i didn't like the fact that it was only ONE skewer not a couple skewers as appetizers. For 2.99 a skewer with 3 bite size pieces of chicken, 3 slices of bell pepper 3 slicesof onion and 3 pieces of pineapple chunk seems a bit pricey. We had a small salad with ginger dressing. My soup came out in this little clay pot looking bowl with boiling bubbling hot soup. You crack a raw egg in it. It was pretty interesting. I had rice as my side and other condiments. Anyways the soup was good. Cleared up my sinus and made me sweat! I recommend this place for the adventurous taste bud. Oh and the view is not bad! read more

It's rare that I get cravings for a restaurant, but I always get cravings for Sura. This is the best Korean place that I have found in the area, if there are better places, I haven't found them yet, and it's in a gorgeous location. The food here is amazing, and the side dishes are amazing. I usually would go all the way to Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley to get good Korean, but here in Oxnard, we are blessed to have Sura. It's a bit pricey, a lot pricey for some things but it's really delicious and satisfying. I always want to eat everything when I come here, but unfortunately I can't afford to it it all, and fortunately I can't eat that much without getting full. I am always referring people to come here for a really good meal, when you want something that has to be perfect every time this is the place I would choose.
