SURFIN' DONUTS @ SAN CLEMENTE The parking lot here is very small, but there is free street parking available alongside the road. We arrived early around 9 AM, and most of the donuts were already selling out. There was a line out the door and parking was pretty packed, so I definitely recommend coming as early as you can. This spot has been a staple for my friends for years, so I finally had to try it out. Even though the line was long, it moved pretty quickly. The staff is super friendly, and all of the donuts are made fresh every single morning. They open around 4 AM and usually close once they sell out, typically before 2 PM. We ordered their iconic blueberry glazed donut, which is a must-try if you're a blueberry fan. Each donut was about two dollars, and we grabbed a few. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, donut holes, and tons of fun donut flavors to choose from. The inside and overall ambiance are more on the older side, it feels like a classic donut shop you and your family might've gone to years ago. They have some indoor seating, but most of the tables are outside. It's a great area to stop by, especially if you're on the way to San Clemente and want some yummy donuts. I really enjoyed the fresh glazed donuts in the morning and would definitely recommend visiting.

Best donuts in San Clemente! Fresh squeezed orange juice. Raised donuts are spectacular. Cake donuts are world class. Our grandsons love the sprinkled donut holes. The old fashioned donuts are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Absolutely fantastic donuts!

Honestly, it's been years since I've gone over to surfin donuts. A legendary place in town. Easy to get to off the five or El Camino Real. It does have parking although it can get filled up with people who park there that go over to SC Café. I came in today for two donuts and an iced coffee both were reasonably priced. They use Monin syrups. The cake crumb doughnut was delicious, light and crumbly. The service is really fast and friendly. Cool beach vibe classic donut shop place. I'll have to come back soon and try to have breakfast sandwich.

The donuts here are super soft and delicious! The apple fritter is chewy and juicy. The service here is great. Definitely recommend!

Love this spot so much. Every time we come down to San O to surf we always need to make a stop at surfin donuts. Amazing donuts, fresh oj, great espresso and coffee with lots of flavor options. What's not to love? Also be sure to try their ham and cheese bagels, they are amazing especially when fresh. They have a decently sized parking lot as well which is usually easy to get a spot. On a busy morning you might have to park in the street but it's easy.

Donut case! Rumor has it they're sold out by noon.

We were told this was an "institution" so how could we not get some donuts? Quick and prompt service. Very large selection of donuts all fresh and delish. We had maple bars, chocolate glazed, and my fave a blueberry. The chai espresso lattes were very very good and better priced than Starbucks. We went several mornings in a row for coffee. The vibe is local and kind of "if you know, you know." Plenty of outdoor seating at benches and around back. There was very swift business in and out. Lots of fun people watching with families, dogs, and surfers all grabbing their grub.

Perfect Apple fritter with the right amount of crunch and fruit to fritter ratio

This is a great donut shop. You have to get the cinnamon twist. It is so good and so gigantic. Also they have cool t-shirts.

Sure, here's a witty and funny review you can use for the bagel place in Dana Point:…read more --- On the Fourth of July, while most were busy lighting fireworks, I was lighting up my taste buds at the bagel haven in Dana Point! Picture this: a line that stretched out the door like it was Black Friday, but somehow, I was whisked away into bagel bliss in just 15 minutes. They must have a secret bagel teleportation machine behind the counter! I decided to go all out and ordered seven bagels (because who needs moderation on a holiday?). I loaded up on cheese like it was my last meal--seriously, I think I single-handedly supported the dairy industry that day. Now, I had my eye on the bagel dog, but it was far too early for such a culinary adventure. Next time, though, I'm definitely going to tackle that savory beast! The bagels? Fresh, soft, and with a variety that could make even a picky eater swoon. I left with a happy belly and a newfound appreciation for the art of bagelry. If you're ever in Dana Point and in need of a bagel fix (or just want to witness a line that's more entertaining than any parade), this place is a must-visit! So, here's to bagels that make your taste buds dance and your holiday a little brighter. Can't wait to come back for that elusive bagel dog!

All the low star reviews are sadly accurate!!!!!…read more When I first got here I thought, 'wow this place is nice' but then I experienced the horrible, rude, hostile customer service and realized why a nice place can be ruined by bad service = such a shame! I showed up and I was literally the only customer in the store and there were 4 employees so I thought I might get good service (as opposed to all the low star reviews that had bad service) but Nope, not even a 4 to 1 employee to customer ratio could give good service at this store as I interacted with all 4 employees: employee#1) the girl who took my order had no idea what she was doing so employee# 2) the second girl had to help her - she was fine despite me having to pay 2 times since the first time she forgot to charge me for my drink # 3) the younger man with glasses haphazardly threw the ingredients on my bagel sandwich in a hurry and only put cream cheese on one side of the bagel then the toppings on top so nothing was on the top of the bagel the half was just plain and wouldn't even stay together with my lox sandwich employee# 4) the fourth employee was the hostile male manager who yelled at me that if I want cream cheese on both sides of the bagel I have to pay extra money! Like really?!! What kind of crappy bagel store charges extra money to get plain cream cheese on both sides of a lox sandwich???!!!???? I could totally understand them charging me extra money if I wanted more lox (smoked salmon) or even more capers or onions but charging me extra money to put plain cream cheese on both sides of the bagel instead of just one side of the bagel?!? Come on now that is just ridiculous!!!! I even got my bagel without tomatoes so if this bagel store is so cheap and chintzy that they charge extra for cream cheese on both sides of the bagel you'd think I could put the cost saved of not getting any tomato towards the extra cream cheese. But nope - instead I got yelled at about my 'unrealistic expectations' of having cream cheese on both halves of the bagel. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!! Then he finally told me he would do it for me just this one time for free if I didn't give them a bad review but screw that - I will keep my integrity and write my bad review and he can keep his precious hoarded cream cheese that he'd just charge me extra for the next time. But there won't be a next time because I will NEVER come here again and suggest everyone else do the same!

The quality and taste of the bagels have gone down or maybe I expected the quality and taste to go up with the prices. The ingredients didn't appear fresh at all and they did not include cream cheese spread on our sandwiches like the previous staff used to do. Everything tasted bland and... just "yuck" as my kids put it. No bueno. The store was also dirty with crumbs all over the seats and trash on the floor. They apparently don't wipe anything down anymore. We couldn't find one clean table to sit at and they weren't even busy! The previous staff was no longer there. Now, we see very young staff members who aren't as polite and patient. It was as if we were wasting their time. Why do they even bother working at a place like this if they hate human interaction? That was the impression I got when the cashier boy kept walking away to do other things as I was in the middle of ordering like he was annoyed that I didn't have my order ready to give him all in one shot. It wasn't like I was just ordering for myself. I was ordering for two other people. I don't know if this bagel shop is under new management but whoever is running this store needs to re-train their current staff on what "customer service" is. They also took forever to complete our order. This will definitely be our last visit. We spent over 50 bucks for a few bagel sandwiches and a coffee! That's insane. Food sucks, prices suck, and even the new staff sucks. No thank you. I'd rather take my business elsewhere to Laguna Niguel or San Juan when we're craving bagels again. Audios.

It's a small shop with some counter seating and several tables outside the front door. They had around a dozen types on display. Sadly, they were out of old fashioned donuts (my favorite). But on the happy side of things, right when I walked in, they were putting out some brown butter donuts, fresh out of the fryer. I immediately pointed and asked for one of those. I also chose a maple raised and a maple bacon. The woman helping me was quite perky with a great smile. I'm certain the thought of why this guy was buying three huge donuts to eat all by himself never crossed her mind. I ate them throughout the afternoon...the warm brown butter one as soon as I got into the car. The cake of the donut was so soft and warm. If it were larger, I would have cuddled up next to it and taken a nap. The brown butter glaze was topped with a Maldon sea salt brittle. Sweet and salty. This was my favorite, probably because it was so darn fresh. The other two donuts had thick, soft cakes but not as soft as the fresh one. The maple donut was great. You could really tell they use quality maple syrup in the glaze. The maple bacon was similar with the addition of bacon on top. It was messy as some of the crumbled bacon fell off with each bite. They provide individual boxes for each donut so keep it under your chin to catch the crumbles! The bacon is seasoned with black pepper and cayenne. These are high-quality, delicious donuts. I think they're some of the best out there.
