The carne guisada plate was the best I've ever had! I'm visiting here from Houston for work and had to stop by after the viral videos on Tik Tok. Even though it's a small restaurant, people need to be understanding of the space and service. My co-worker and I received a 10/10 service. Many blessings to the owners and staff.

This place is absolutely tiny and that's fine but when I walked in and stood at the counter in the front I had 5 people just look at me and look away. No "we'll be right with you" absolutely no acknowledgment whatsoever. Stood there for 5 minutes and finally asked this girl if I could please place an order. I'm not sure if she said yes or not because I didn't hear a response but she eventually came back and took my order, asked me "what I wanted" she took my order while looking the other way then she comes over after making me wait for 10 minutes for my order and tells me to go outside and she'll bring my food to me outside. I told her nicely that I'd rather not because it's raining outside and got out of the walkway. She comes back and insists that I leave and go outside because she wants to "clear the walkway" I told her "I'm out of your walkway I'm not sure why you have such a bad attitude" then she goes over to her husband and tells him to tell me to leave and tells him that I have a bad attitude (WOW!) and he brings me back my money minus 10 cents lol and tells me "I'm sorry ma'm I'm not sure what happened but my wife says we can't fill your order"..I could not believe it. Wow. Don't waste your time with this place.

I wound up at Susana's entirely by happenstance, if not by serendipity. Whenever I would visit the neighboring Il Forno (unequivocally the best pizza in town), I would park next door at a long-defunct Mexican restaurant. One afternoon, as I returned to my car after having gorged myself on pizza, I noticed a flyer on my windshield for a place called Susana's. As it turned out, Susana's had taken over the spot long since vacated by the other Mexican restaurant. Who knew! The menu looked enticing, so I made a mental note to visit Susana's in the near future. I found myself craving some no-nonsense Tex-Mex last night, so off I went to Susana's! From the outside, Susana's probably won't grab your attention. The ramshackle building is simple and the signage unassuming. The moment I entered the restaurant, though, I was greeted by a wave of friendly chatter (Spanish-English codeswitching at its finest) and the enticing aroma of fresh flour tortillas. Mismatched tables and chairs create a lived-in feel, and walls adorned with local artwork and faded photographs whisper stories of the restaurant's past. Indeed, the original Susana's on Zarzamora has been a local favorite since the late 1980s, a fact I learned only just yesterday while speaking to my server. I had no idea what to order, so I went with the "poquito de todo" plate, which consisted of two cheese enchiladas topped with carne guisada, charro beans, rice, a picadillo taco, and a bean-and-cheese chalupa. The enchiladas were filled generously with shredded American cheese, and the quarter-inch chunks of carne guisada were tender and flavorful. If you've never had carne guisada, imagine a cumin-spiced iteration of pot roast. The black pepper in the Mexican rice struck me as odd initially, but I grew to enjoy the bite from the piperine. Most Tex-Mex joints treat crispy tacos as an afterthought, so I appreciated the taco on my plate, filled as it was with juicy, intensely savory picadillo, fresh-shredded American cheese, and ripe tomatoes. The shell was thick, crispy, and definitely homemade. I also appreciated the chalupa, the shell of which held its own against the refried beans (redolent of lard -- yes!), cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Of course, "a little bit of everything" ("un poquito do todo") is never enough for my garbage disposal stomach, so I also ordered two breakfast tacos: migas and barbacoa a la Mexicana. I hold migas tacos to a high standard; I expect the eggs, cheese, and corn tortilla strips to complement one another, but I scoff when the tortilla strips turn to mush. I am pleased to report, Dear Reader, that Susana's nailed it; the eggs were scrambled lightly, the tortilla strips remained crispy, and the American cheese brought it all together. The barcacoa taco was also fantastic; the meat was moist and the accompanying onions and jalapenos were grilled al dente. The most important facet of any breakfast taco, however, is the flour tortilla. As expected, the tortillas at Susana's are undoubtedly "hecho a mano," diaphanous discs of masa and lard that any self-respecting "abuelita" would be honored to call her own. Susana's Mexican Restaurant might not be fancy, but it delivers an experience that's warm, genuine, and utterly satisfying. Sometimes you've just gotta have a huge plate of steaming hot, comforting Tex-Mex food. When that craving hits, I can't think of a better place than Susana's. I should also note that the chef stopped by my table personally, asked, "How is it, bro?," and gave me a loving fist bump when I complimented his kitchen prowess. That's not something you'll experience at a chain or fast-food restaurant! P.S. You have yours truly to thank for this business listing. If you visit the Yelp page for the Zarzamora location, you'll see a smattering of reviews for this new location on Flores.

Pair that with their handmade thick chips, and you're already winning. Then came the mini tacos: chicken, birria, and barbacoa. The chicken surprised me by being the standout, juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The birria followed right behind with that deep, rich flavor that makes you stop mid‑conversation. The margaritas? Smooth, refreshing, and sneaky enough that you don't realize how strong they are until you stand up. What sealed the deal was the service. The staff was kind, patient, and didn't rush me even though I lost track of time chatting on the phone. They even let me hang out until my Uber pulled up. Tlahco isn't just good, it's amazing. 10/10 experience.

I'm not a big fan of chorizo, but I do seek out unique variations of eggs benedict, and this one fit the bill, so I went for it. The flavor combination was perfect, and I wasn't overwhelmed with chorizo. If you like eggs benny, give this variation a try. You won't be sorry! The refried beans - I know it's silly to review beans, but these were a bit different than the normal ones we find in SA. They had a bit more texture, unlike the overly blended beans we're used to. Chef's Kiss goes out to these beans! The potatoes - we weren't sure what the seasoning was, but we think it was adobo. Whatever the seasoning is, it puts them over the top as far as breakfast potatoes are concerned. Good stuff! Just a couple of notes: We didn't get tortillas with our breakfast. It might have been an oversight, or our meals didn't come with them. Not sure. The service was great, but depending on the server you get, you might need to know some Spanish. I give them 5 solid stars for breakfast.

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers exceptional food, incredible ambiance, unique architecture, and top-notch customer service, Domingo is a must-visit. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

Their salsa tray is nice too, they have 4 to select from and you get three in this appetizer, but we ordered the 4th as well and all were pretty nicely done. The verde was amazing and the roasted tomato was great, just not spicy at all. I tried their combo fajitas and was thankful they came out being simply plated, rather than on the blazing hot, sizzling skillet - I don't need the show, just the good eats. The meats were decent, the beans were amazing. The tortillas were just ok, as I felt like they were way too thick. They offered corn tortillas too, but I'm in Texas, so you get flour, not corn. It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
