Order via DoorDash and was not disappointed! The fish tasted very fresh and all the seasoning, textures, and flavors were on point! I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but the food is solid and I definitely recommend for takeout/delivery.

    4 Torch Sushi(8pcs)

Came here because of the great reviews, but left pretty disappointed. We ordered tempura, torch sushi, and a BFF roll. The sushi (too much rice) was just okay, nothing special. It honestly reminded me of the kind you get at a Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet. Nothing really stood out in terms of freshness or flavor. The tempura was the biggest letdown. It tasted like frozen tempura that had been microwaved and served lukewarm. It came out just a few minutes after we ordered, and my husband immediately went, "Uh oh." That pretty much summed it up. I was curious and looked up Costco's frozen tempura and they looked the same especially the shrimp tails. If it weren't for the tempura, I probably would've given this place three stars for the service and price but it's unacceptable for a sushi restaurant to serve frozen tempura. Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Solid takeout sushi place in international district! We ordered togo: the spicy killer roll, red dragon roll, salmon lover and hot volcano roll. Everything was pretty good and tasted fresh! The only thing we'd skip next time is the hot volcano roll. It's a little messy and I don't entirely understand what they were going for with that. In total this was around $67 which is not bad for Seattle prices and for at least being fresh!

Sushi Ave is one of my favorite spots to get sushi! It's located inside the Pacific Rim Center and there's complimentary 2-hour parking in the garage. I feel like this place is a "if you know you know" spot. I love how affordable their rolls are compared to other sushi spots I've been to and their seafood is high quality. The workers are friendly and service is quick. It's a smaller restaurant with a couple tables and it seems a lot of their business is takeout orders, but I felt like our food came out quickly despite them working on online orders at the same time. They start you off with the house salad tossed in a miso sesame dressing that I inhale. My boyfriend and I ordered the Creamy Scallop Roll, the Angry Dragon Roll (recommend!) and the 8-piece torch sushi box. For the torch sushi, we picked wasabi tuna, unagi, spicy salmon, and salmon. We loooved the wasabi tuna torched sushi and will definitely get again next time. When I was here last time, I got the Salmon Lover which comes with nigiri, rolls, and sashimi, I recommend that one too! See you again soon, Sushi Ave :)

They make delicious glamorized Cali rolls and decent size portions. I got the scallop roll, dragon roll, and baked lobster roll! Everything was good and came around a dead time so I got everything served quickly.

This is my favorite casual sushi spot in all of Seattle. The portions and quality to price ratio is insane. I always get the Salmon Lover and Creamy Scallop roll. I've gotten them at least 5 times, and never has the quality been off or the consistency been different. The fish freshness continues to amaze me every time I order. The salmon lover comes with 3 sashimi slices, 8 maki pieces, and 6 nigiri pieces. The scallop roll also has a healthy portion of scallop!

Located in one of the most run down areas of the ID, Sushi Ave is a diamond in the rough. There is a bit of street parking across the street and next to the building. After walking by mentally ill homeless and poo covered streets, you enter a small indoor mall. The resturant offers a sit down or take out option. Service is fast and friendly, and there are many choices from donburi, Latino rolls, and even kimchi rolls. My personal favorite is the $33 omakase. It is a dozen pieces of melt in your mouth, low fat, nigiri. The seared nigiri squares are the best value for flavor and calories. It is guaranteed to fill you up. I recommend all of the squares but the overly fishy saba.

Great tasting affordable sushi! Small and cozy place that serves sushi pretty quickly.

Inari (2pcs), Caterpillar Roll, and Futomaki
    Diana C.

Take out - really good sushi! I liked everything I got! The Inari was good and the caterpillar and futomaki were also very fresh. They prepared and packaged it well too. The only small critique is the cost for the portion sizing of the caterpillar roll but honestly I don't mind much because it was very tasty and satisfied my sudden late-night sushi craving!

Sushi Ave has delicious torched sushi options so I made the 15 min trek over from Lumen field just for these! 4 choices (8 torched pieces) for $16 total, not bad! 5 choices (10 pcs) is $18 and any 6 choices (12 pcs) is $20. When I got there there they were whipping out to go orders non stop. I dined in for my first time here and the crew is very friendly and attentive. I chose the salmon, spicy tuna, unagi, and wasabi tuna. The torched pieces held their form nicely while I was dipping them in soy sauce and I loved the flaky texture. Not crispy but not limp either. I do however think the mounds of rice were just a little big. It's not nigiri but the ratio was just slightly off for my liking.

Seared Steak and Hawaiian Rolls ($17)
    Wendi K.

Located in an unassuming complex with a bunch of eateries in I-District. The sushi was all fresh and well-made. I loved the rectangle sushi concept! The cube shape made the sushi REALLY heavy on the rice, but the rice was really delicious. The quality isn't of the highest caliber but it's priced well for the quality. Tried: -Two Torch Sushi Combos ($18 for a selection of 4 "torch sushi" pairs) - the pieces were HUGE and very filling. They were neat and the components they all tasted great. Again, very heavy on the rice. -Black Steak Roll ($17) - Loved the seared steak on top -Hawaiian Roll ($17) - Pretty sweet with the canned pineapple piece but pretty and yummy! It was empty when we went to eat in on a Sunday but it looked like there were tons of takeout orders being placed and picked up.

I order from here on the occasional weekend and it's my fave sushi spot for delivery so far. I definitely need to check them out in person. Portions are great and they have the occasional deal on uber eats. I usually get the bff or seared salmon roll + nigiri/sashimi of choice (love the yellowtail)

Reservations during off peak dinner hours aren't too difficult to get on a weeknight and street parking was fairly easy to find. The omakase / tasting menu is 19 bites, which is a decent amount of food, but overall the fish quality was really disappointing. There were only about 4-5 pieces of nigiri that tasted fresh and clean; the white fish that you start with in particular were just not a fun texture or flavor. The shellfish course and sweet shrimp were solid though. Unfortunately, besides the fish, the rice was a total flop too. It just felt dried out as if they had been pre portioned well ahead of time and under seasoned. Part of the joy of a course menu, if you want slightly warm / room temperature rice against the cool fish, but you get zero of that contrast here.

It was also wonderful to see that everyone seated at our counter had traveled from out of state just to experience his omakase, which speaks volumes about his reputation. This was, without a doubt, the best sushi omakase experience I've ever had. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and every bite was thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were unlike any sushi I've had before and gave me a whole new appreciation for how extraordinary sushi can be when it's crafted by a chef with such deep knowledge and experience. I would absolutely love to come back again. I left feeling completely satisfied and fulfilled, yet hungry for more of this amazing sushi experience. Get a cup of coffee and take a deep breath. This is a long-winded story…read more About 13 years ago, while vacationing in Seattle, we took a food tour. Our food tour was very intimate, just the two of us plus the guide. One of the restaurants we visited was called Shiro. We arrived mid-afternoon, while the restaurant was closed to the public. We were each served two pieces of Nigiri and told the story about Shiro. The two pieces that we were served were phenomenal and the story fascinating. We found out when Chef Shiro would be working next and cancelled another dinner reservation so we could try more of his food. When we arrived before opening time, there was already a woman waiting at the door. After us, a Seattle software engineer and three of his Canadian co-workers arrived. We had all arrived early because sitting at the bar in front of Shiro was on a first come, first served basis, reservations were not taken for that privilege. The year after we dined, we read that Shiro had retired. We were so disappointed that we would not get to eat his food again. Then we learned that Shiro opened a new restaurant and we planned on making a trip up to Seattle. Twelve years later, we finally made it. Reservations were made through opentable.com two months in advance. We wanted the Omakase, sitting at the bar, in front of the Master. Well, when we arrived, we found that Shiro only works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. (sigh) Still, we had a great meal prepared by an amazing chef who hailed from Laos, whose name escapes me now. We had a pretty good conversation despite the background noise from the rest of the restaurant. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from my pictures. We asked for and received a menu list that detailed what we were being served. If you take the time to look at the photo captions, you can follow along with the menu list to see what each fish looked like. And then, on our way out, there was Shiro! We greeted him, thanked him and his Sushi Chef for a great meal. We asked for a photo and he had a staff member take the picture for us. Yes, Shiro is a slight man but not quite as small as the picture makes him look. The staffer changed my camera setting from 1x to .5x and because he was standing one step behind us, we look huge! At any rate, it was a meal that will remain with us to the end of our days. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu Shiro Kashiba & Staff!

I've been fortunate to enjoy several omakase meals over the years, and while many simply let the chef choose your sushi, Sugo takes the concept to another level. Every course is thoughtfully orchestrated, with each piece expertly prepared and presented right in front of you. Watching the chefs work is part of what makes the evening so memorable. The seafood was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and every course reflected genuine craftsmanship and attention to detail. It was clear that the chefs take great pride in what they create. FOB Sushi Bar has been living rent-free in my head ever since I first visited about two years ago…read more I finally made it back to Seattle this month and knew I had to stop by again! FOB is a build-your-own sushi spot so instead of ordering from a menu, you grab a takeout box (either a tray or large box), pick up a pair of tongs, walk down the sushi line, choose whatever catches your eye, then weigh and pay. It's currently around $15 per pound, and filling up one of the larger boxes usually costs me a little over $30, depending on what I pick. One thing I noticed this visit is that the price has definitely gone up since my first trip. I was also tempted by the giant inari nigiri so selected a few to bring home, but found out that it turned out to be mostly rice with just a little fish on top so I'm thinking next time, I'll probably stick more with the sushi rolls or smaller nigiri since they felt like the better value. The selection is HUGE though: sushi rolls, nigiri, gunkan, etc. The only negative for me is how fast-paced the experience feels. Every time I've visited (I guess just twice so far), the line has been packed and practically out the door, so there's not much time to stand there by the actual sushi bar and browse your options, especially since the shop is small and tight with the cluster of customers (you're literally standing inches away from each other). You're basically moving along with everyone else and making quick decisions as you go. I understand it keeps the line moving, but I personally prefer having a little more time to look. However, I did notice that the staff is constantly replenishing the options and keeping everything clean, so nothing seems to sit out for long. The fish tastes fresh, clean, and never fishy, and the texture is just right. Seating inside is pretty limited, so it's mostly a takeout spot. I have taken my box back to my hotel to enjoy in solitude (when I travelled to Seattle) or take it home to share with my kid (50+ mile drive since I recently moved to WA, but still tastes yummy after the ride). I also noticed plenty of people enjoying their sushi on the steps outside. Regarding price, my box usually ends up costing about the same as ordering about two specialty sushi rolls elsewhere, but being able to mix and match a variety of different pieces makes it a fun experience, especially since their rolls are creative, delicious, and worth trying. If you're a sushi lover (or even just looking to try a variety of sushi in one meal), I definitely recommend checking out FOB Sushi Bar!
