This place has changed ownership several times and with mixed results. It's could be a place to consider for quick sushi or poke takeout. I find the dine-in experience to be pretty underwhelming. Sumo has large monitors that show ceramic bento-boxes full of sushi meat and rolls. It's not what you get. We were served in plastic takeout containers and provided with condiment cups of sauces. I ordered a Sumo Poke Box (spicy tuna) and upgraded to add an appetizer (yellowtail jalapeno). The yellowtail advertised a "special sauce." Spoiler alert: its a splatter of ponzu and a hefty drizzle of sriracha. These are straight-from-the-bottle. The yellowtail was okay, I suspect it was previously frozen. The poke was also just "okay." I wish it was actual tuna cuts and not mashed/minced tuna filling, like you would find in cheap roll. Again, there were condiments, but all were straight-from -the-bottle. I'd recommend other poke places (e.g., FOB) over this as they have more options for customizing your bowls and your saucing. read more

We ordered ahead online and then picked up and it was very prompt and easy to order. We didn't eat there buts it's a nice spot and bright and clean. Overall the food was good and we've eaten here before but we tried different orders this time and I thought it was a bit of the miss. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I know that Covid was rough on small businesses. I have no idea what this place has been through. It used to be a sweet little grungy kinda sushi restaurant where you could get really solid Japanese food. Sushi, sashimi, teriyaki...it had atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Kick ass miso soup and hot tea on a cold day. Now: led light strips flashing a variety of colors to the rhythm of the crappy pop music blaring through the joint. Wooden tables and ceramic dishes replaced by white laminate and plastic dishes. Soy sauce and wasabi served in single use packets for dine-in service. Food was mediocre. Shrimp tempura roll was soggy and beef teriyaki was gristly and did not taste like teriyaki at all. I think if I'd ordered delivery from here I wouldn't have been disappointed as much. We got the yummy roll meal with a side of tuna tataki for $22.95. The tuna tataki was savory due to the light sear and little bit of pepper on top. It's not as thick cut as most places but the flavor and quality is there again. I usually don't like rice but I was hoping to have rice to go with it. One of them had seaweed and one of them has crayfish. They were good but I don't think I would pay more than $5 for them. This is a simple place. I like to come here to get away from all the madness. Prefect for a different, but simple date night meal. There arent any crazy bars or picked dining rooms here. You have enough elbow room to not even notice the others dining. If the place where Sunday packed you would still have enough room to enjoy a private date. You do however have to order at the front counter and seat yourself. The portions are fairly small, but it is on the cheaper side for sushi in the area. This is not my go to fit sushi at all... well I do think their handroll menu is probably my favorite I've had the pleasure of ordering from.
