I dined here last Sunday (Oct 28,2012) around 730PM and had a terrible experience. Upon arriving we were greeted by a scowl. When the hostess took us to our table she threw the menus down, did not bring utensils, chopsticks or napkins. On top of all that she continued to give us dirty looks when we glanced in her direction for the duration of our stay. After our food arrived I asked the waiter for napkins and chopsticks, the waiter then said something to the hostess and she once again gave us a dirty look and a different staff member brought us our napkins and chopsticks. This was the rudest I have ever been treated at any restaurant ever, needless to say I will never come back. If you are in the area I would go to Michiru hands down, they have the nicest staff, much better sushi and are priced similarly read more

Sushi was not anything exceptional. They were not busy at all and it still took 30 minutes for our sushi, that we ordered off the lunch menu, to come out. Our server was friendly but not very attentive. read more

For being in a nice strip center the place looks old inside. The sushi was ok. The pictures on the menu don't help when trying to order, the are poorly lit and makes the food look unappetizing, almost like someone threw up on a plate and organized it on a plate. Service was ok, don't expect a smile. For the price, there are better options in the area. read more

My favorite sushi place in the Clear Lake Area. Very friendly, fast service and great fresh sushi. They are always willing to accommodate special orders. The Tiki Tata roll is my all time favorite! The Texas roll is also good. read more

Vegan friendly! Ask for Trinh, she is a very friendly server. We go here often for avocado rolls and are never disappointed. The rolls are sprinkled with tasty sesame seeds and are of generous proportions. This is a happy place to go. read more

First time here and I have to say MAJOR disappointment! Maybe being a Chicagoan I have a different expectation, idk? But seems the "sushi chefs" had no training they were all non English speaking Mexicans. (Yes I can say it because I'm Mexican too) anyway it was kiNd of a hipster new invention type creative sushi which I guess is cool if you like the hipster names except all the rolls were basically the same thing. The noodles are just that noodles the beef was more like shaved Italian beef. I think I'll stick to a more traditional sushi house, where sushi is still a beautiful & delicious art. This place has really gone downhill over the years. I've usually come here about once per month, but I've noticed a decline in overall quality of food and service as of late. Recently, the hot sake also has begun to taste somewhat sour, as if it's spoiled or something. It reminds of beer from a tap where the tap and lines haven't been cleaned. They've also changed their menu up recently, and most of the premium rolls are now pictured in the back. Judging by my order the other night (my group ordered 3 of the pictured rolls) - none of them will look anything like the pictures. The ingredients are there, but the volume and presentation doesn't even come close to what's promised on the menu. We stopped in for a Saturday lunch. Since the weather was brisk, we decided to skip the sushi and order something hot. We had the Nabeyaki udon and shrimp tempura udon. Both were delicious!! Definitely one of the main shushi places to go if you are in the bay area. Business seems to be declining lately as the crowd seemed a bit thin the last time I was there. I am a huge fan of all of their roll selection and even if you are not in the fishy mood there are katsu and bento box plates as well. I worked here for a while in HS when they FIRST opened and 5 years later I still come pretty often to have great sushi. The rolls here are presented so beautifully that you don't even want to eat them because they look too good! Every Wednesday they have discount sushi rolls and once a month or so they have a 50% off sushi night on a Monday!! The prices are about the same as any other sushi restaurants in the area but the atmosphere here is really cool. There is a local artist who does all these really funky fish sculptures and paintings that they have hanging all over the walls (which you can buy also). The food is great, the service is fast and pleasant and I hae never had a bad experience there. read more

I love sushi and Sushi Coast is a must for anyone that wants beautiful fresh handmade on the spot sushi. The restaurant is decorated with very cool art in the form of ceramic fish. These fish all have big teeth colorful bobys and really make for a fun and unique conversation peace. The MENU is always changing but the main rolls stay the same. Fresh is what really make it when it comes to my love of sushi. No fishiness other than the artwork on the walls. The prices are really great for what you get and we always get more then we can eat. I frequented this restaurant several times a month when I lived in Clear Lake area. I made a trip out there for the first time in a couple of years. I love this place. The Ika Salad was delicious and I had several different rolls. I didn't order any of the more complicated rolls. It was lunch and my companion does not eat sushi. He ordered the Chicken Katsu and was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed it. We will definitely make the trip again. read more

This place is good place to go to if you dont want to drive out to Houston. The sashimi is fresh and plump. The rolls are kind of the same, nothing too creative. What catches me off guard about here is that the sushi chefs are all hispanic. Probably 4-5 guys working the bar with not that many tables full. One guy looked like he was ready to hit the club. Edamame- good. Seaweed salad- good. Sushi, which c'mon now that's what we really want, subpar. The fish was not fresh. Fell apart in my chopsticks. Only ate about half. I love everything about the restaurant except the speed and service. The many times we have went, it takes quite a long time to get seen to begin the meal, then also to receive the food. The waiters do not visit the tables often and whether it is slow or busy it will takes a while to get the sushi. However, I keep going back because of the prices, the quality and the taste. So don't go in a hurry and make sure you order an appetizer and you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm moved to Texas from California in January. I've been eating sushi frequently since I was 11. I've tried a few sushi bars in Houston over the last few months and have been very displeased with the quality compared to what I am accustomed to. Tonight I got a "Totally Sumo" roll to go and had a beer while I waited at Sushi Coast. I was very surprised while waiting to see the sushi chef's were mostly Hispanic, to be frank I've only ever seen older Asian men behind the sushi bar. But that was inconsequential. The roll, consisting on salmon, eel, tuna, and avocado with a sweet eel sauce on top was very good. It's no Yamashiro, but it's perfect for what it is. I will certainly frequent this spot to see what else the menu has to offer. read more

Stopped by sushi coast for a quick lunch. I've been to this place several times before, however today's service was the best I've ever gotten! William N was our server, and he was phenomenal! We ordered 2 rolls and an appetizer, the sushi was fresh and so flavorful! The meal was brought out very quickly. William did an awesome job, he was very helpful in choosing a roll, and very attentive while we ate. Great job guys! We will be back soon! I highly recommend this place to anyone! It seems a little commercial from the outside, but it definitely is not! This is one of my favorites! read more
