Had a urge for some sushi and this place was close to the hotel so I figure why not. A average looking strip mall sushi place, cool surreal looking fish on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. Ordered the sushi combo #2 , a good selection of sushi and 2 small rolls. Started with Miso soup, one of the best i have ever had! It's weird coming back to Houston after living in Chicago for so long...there are very few places that have good sushi in Clear Lake, that is anywhere comparable to Chicago sushi. For some reason...I want to think it's because Clear Lake is actually brown and Lake Michigan is blue. The fish up north is "fresher" but that's not really true, all sushi fish has been frozen once. This place make some nice cuts and their maki is generally creative. My biggest grip is that the menu seems to rely a lot on spicy tuna and tempura. Also they serve blue fin tuna which is one of the most endangered fish species and shouldn't be ordered! The service was on point and my test of how good a sushi place is if A. they have uni and B. if it's actually fresh, this place passed A, and could of done better with the uni freshness, but sometimes you can't really tell until you eat it. read more

Uhhhh I figured I would try this place out for lunch aaand I now understand why their place is so empty! I ordered the seafood tempura, Vietnamese egg rolls, rainbow roll and ramen Whelp they give you like 4 pieces of tempura for seafood and no shrimp is not included. It was 3 pieces of fish and a piece of crab cut in half to give illusion that your getting more. And the "dipping sauce" was literally flavorless. The egg rolls you could clearly tell that they were from the store, just gross! The dipping sauce was just sad! The sushi was......ok? I guess? Yeah don't get the sushi. The ramen soup tasted like eggs......yes eggs. They added an egg in the soup but it literally tasted like they boiled several eggs first and then used the water to make the ramen soup. There was no other flavor other than the egg. But what's really sad is that if there was no egg taste then there would be no taste at all. The soup was sadly bland.....very bland. I tried adding soy sauce and sriracha buuuutttt it just made the egg taste more stronger. Ugh!!!! Soooo my recommendation is don't eat here. The only reason why I have 1 star at all was because the waiter was really nice. Other than that......don't waste your time. read more

Although my expectations were in accord for these type of restaurants (not expecting high end, not extremely authentic Japanese flavors and dishes) , I was still more disappointed than anticipated. Had an early dinner at the Sushi Coast. The decor is awesome. We love the ceramics sculptures and paintings of the exaggerate exotic fish. I had the Maki Combo of tuna roll, salmon roll and California roll. Very satisfying combination with the miso soup. The servís was excellent and quick. I come here when I don't want to travel far for great sushi. I would have to say they are not stingy with the sashimi pieces. They are worth it for the price. The rolls are excellent. They have a variety of different types of rolls you can order. My son loves the chicken teriyaki kids meal. It also comes with fried rice and tempura veggies. There has not been a time were we've had any problems with the wait staff. They are all very nice and attentive. They know they are there to serve us so we don't get attitude from the staff. read more

The first thing I noticed when walking in was the strong smell. It was so bad and honestly we were thinking about leaving. I've been to many different sushi/fish/asian restaurants and I've never smelled something like this before. There wasn't much people inside so I didn't worry much about covid. We ordered a couple different types of sushi and it was ok. Not the best tasting sushi but not the worst. The prices should be cheaper considering the atmosphere and the taste. You can't beat Half off rolls on Wednesday. THe food was great. I travel and this place is right next to my hotel. I had a roll called Tokyo Nights and it was fantastic. The Service is good. This was probably one of the worst Sushi places which is unfortunate because the service and ambiance was great. I had a great server but the food which is still the main attraction tasted horrible. I typically LOVE coming here and having my regular servers. This time I noticed a slight staff change. The two new guys bumped into each other twice with drinks in hand. My server didn't know what appetizer I was talking about and ordered me something different. Following that, never received any refills, service was not great at all. Went here because my girlfriend was craving sushi and said this place was a good place to eat. Went in and noticed that on a Saturday evening that it was not packed and was very quiet inside. Got seated quickly and drinks brought out right away with the server being helpful as my girlfriend was on a diet and allowed plenty of time to look over the menu. What made my experience poor was two things: 1. The miso soup was in a soup warmer that was in plain sight of the eating area. The soup itself tasted of the prepackaged soup you can get at an Asian market. Nice touched of adding some mushrooms in there though. 2. My girlfriend got the house roll which came out looking and tasting really good. What got me though was the Totally Sumo roll that I ordered. For a ten dollar roll I was expecting a well made roll. That is not what I got. The roll came looking a bit nothing like the picture that is on their website. Each slice was stuck to one another and when picked up quickly broke apart. Worst part of the roll was the taste. I am not a professional sushi taster, but I do know that when you eat sushi you are suppose to taste the fish not just the sauce. Compared to the cheaper House Roll this was a major disappointment. Overall what redeemed this restaurant was the amazing Nabeyaki Udon and Ramen main course we got. I actually had a friend introduce me to this place. Personally, this is a little far from where I live but, it just so happened I was working at a hospital not far from there and All of us (friend, husband, and myself) were in some serious want for sushi!! My personal favorite " Galactic Booty Maki". O.K. so maybe I like it more for the name! (I'll have the Galactic Booty please") LOL!! Anywhoo! It's super delicious! Now normally I'm a big fan of plum wine. Unfortunately, I didn't like their particular plum wine. Maybe it's just my own taste-buds.
