I originally was recommended to Sushi Hai through one of my friends that attended a large party here before and it by far exceeded my expectations when we decided to throw a party here myself!!! The owner Tien was incredibly communicative, easy to work with and such an amazing host. We preordered the food for our guests and also paid for a package that included unlimited drinks, which made this party so affordable and easy to accommodate for a large group of 30+ people. The decorations and vibe of the restaurant were perfect and I could not recommend Sushi Hai more!! The night was awesome, food was delicious and the staff was so amazing! 10 STARS!! read more

Not a fan. Basement restaurants are not a favorite. The food was not great and any sushi place that serves bud light makes me wonder (not in a good way). Hated the karaoke while we were eating and food was ok. To end on a positive note, the sushi was more traditional and not polluted and dressed up to meet the typical American demand. read more

This place is just so-so. A friend of mine suggested we go. My favorite sushi place is STILL Sushi Sasa!!! Our server was on the ball but our sushi chef had NO personality at all and the only time we were acknowledged by him was when we handed him our order. I felt like our sushi could have been a little fresher. I've never turned away fresh fish but there were a few times I immediately had to wash mine down with water before gagging! Had the Rainbow Roll - pretty bland. The Surf and Turf roll was not worth the $16 (The Happy Sumo has an excellent Surf and Turf roll!!). Also had a Spider Roll and some other roll that I don't recall and they were both just "okay". Won't go back for sushi but might check out trivia or karaoke sometime, but only if I'm actually in the neighborhood, I won't go out of my way. read more

2.5 stars, but I'll round up. Whole lotta 'meh.' In an iPhone space-cadet moment, I thought I called my go-to sushi joint for take out. No big deal, this place is supposedly fancier and it's good to try new things. Unfortunately, Sushi Hai came in as another example to add to my arsenal of reasons why the 32nd Street Corridor is the most overhyped culinary destination of North Denver. #endrant Basic rolls were ordered--Philly, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon. They weren't terrible, but mid-meal I did program my usual spot into my phone to not make the same mistake twice. Got the job done, but just kind of underwhelming. The rolls were too loose and the cucumbers inside weren't peeled. Ok, I know, I know, kinda sound like a whiny b**** about the cucumbers, but it was distracting. On the upside, I hear their basement bar is swanky and a fun spot on the weekends if you're all dolled up. For my entertainment dollar however, I'll stick to my north-of-38th Street-bubble where the parking is easy and it's socially acceptable to wear hoodies at all times. read more

This is my first review on Yelp. My husband and I buy Groupons frequently to try new places, and as residents in the Ballpark Neighborhood we've been spending more time in the Highlands as its close. And we love sushi so we figured this would be a great new option. Upon arrival we informed the hostess of our reservation. She seemed half aware of our answer. Eventually we just asked to sit at the raw bar. When our waitress came over she was abrupt and unengaging. We ordered drinks, my husband a beer and a sake cocktail for myself. When she brought the drinks back she wedged herself between us to put the drinks down and informed us to submit our order to the sushi chef when ready. Standard procedure so fine. The sushi menu is just ok and the sushi itself is pretty standard... small in size and fine in taste. When our waitress came to finally check on us again, I still had about little less than half of my cocktail to drink while my husband was ready to order a second beer. I asked the waitress if she would mind just getting his pint while I finished my cocktail and then looked over the menu to decide if I wanted a second drink. She proceeded to shove (really shove) the drink menu in my face and said why don't you just decide and I'll bring them together. Mind you the restaurant was only about half full. In the end we felt as though the sushi was ok. The sushi chef was very nice. The waitress was haughty and abrupt and the overall experience wasn't worth the money even with a Groupon. And I swear we aren't super picky!! Friendly service can make up for just about anything else in our eyes. Most likely won't return. read more

Used to be 4.5 but now a 2. We love sushi and sushi loves us. When you live in a neighborhood where some restaurants are a part of your routine these places have built a spot on the 'preferred shelf'. This was the case with Hai until our last experience there. We've eaten here many, many times. PRIOR to that the restaurant delivered top quality sushi and great service. FOLLOWING that we got poor food (see: sushi rice falling off the rolls, bland-tasting fish and incorrectly mixed cocktails) and poor service (see: server who was incompetent as well as indifferent to our concerns). I guess if you have to eat, then eat here. There are many other better options in the city. read more

I'll get to the sushi last since the inept service over-shadowed the food by galactic leaps and bounds on the hideous scale. Sad, slow and scantily-clad servers will welcome you, take a drink order and apparently leave for 45 minutes leaving you drink-less. (I understand that 4 whole people can be overwhelming in an empty restaurant.) A different server took our food order and apparently joined server #1 in the hot-pant-server limbo. Drinks 45 minutes later, dinner 40 minutes after drinks (most of which was wrong), left us with a chat with the manager. An explanation (not an apology) of how busy they were was offered to us. That's it. The food.... it's okay, not great. One non-sushi eater had a steak that was served ice cold with luke warm soup. When sent back, server #3? mentioned that we were, after all, eating at a sushi restaurant, not a steak house. A-ha. Noted. read more

I really don't get the shitty reviews for this place. However, my review may be a bit biased since I went on a Sunday night when things were rather slow. I put together a dinner for Matt's birthday and they were able to accomodate our party of 13 in one of the private rooms. Like I said, since it was a slow night, we got attentive service. The food is amazing. Now, I am no sushi connoseiur by any means, but I really enjoyed all the rolls and apps here. We started off with garlic edamame which I have never seen offered anywhere else before. Highly recommended! The miso soup is also divine. I had a couple great drinks here, the most memorable being the panda pear sakitini. The rolls were all delicious and very plentiful. My favorites were the Vegas, Firecracker, Shrimp Tempura and good ol' California rolls. I used to be such a picky eater and because of this, I used to never eat sushi. I have learned that I should just eat it all without knowing exactly what I am eating and then decide if it is good or not! We were all stuffed nicely and they brought us out different mochi ice cream balls for dessert! They even gave Matt a gift card for his birthday. Bonus for being downstairs while the 8-Minute dating was going on. It made for good people watching. Thank you Sushi Hai for making Matt's birthday outstanding, and I will definitely be back again! read more

The sushi here was decent, though not exceptional, and it could have been a bit fresher (of course, you can really only expect so much living in the middle of the country). "Decent" could also be applied to the prices, which were more or less consistent with what I've come to think of as typical for sushi. Service, on the other hand, was great. It was a busy Saturday night, but the waitress managed to bring my fiance not one, but two dishes of spicy mayo (a bit excessive on his part, but if that's what it takes to get him to go to sushi with me...), and she replaced his chopsticks without complaint when he dropped one on the ground and brought him a paper napkin when he spilled soy sauce--all in addition to taking care of the usual things one comes to expect at a quality restaurant. While this place may not be quite on par with what I'm used to on the West Coast, it's convenient and clean, and I'm sure I'll be back. read more

If you come to sushi hai dont come for the sushi, come for the atmosphere. Down stairs they have pool tables and a great vibe. The food is just OK. As a true lover of sushi this is not my first, second or even third chose. I will however come here and drink at the bar, play some pool and really enjoy the action and maybe have a roll or two. I keep having to make the disclaimer that "I'm no expert in *insert food type*" but... the same goes for Sushi. I'm a newbie to the whole Sushi world and the number of places I've tried it can be counted on one hand. As a result, this review should probably be ignored entirely by true Sushi Aficionados. That immediately renders this review less-than-valuable. First thing I noticed on my "date night" with my wife at Sushi Hai were the very strange uniforms the employees wore. I kept this observation largely to myself throughout the entire evening until at one point a waitress walked by dressed as a kitty cat. Unable to suppress my reaction I asked my wife something along the lines of "what the hell?". At which point she reminded me that it was the Saturday before Halloween. Mind-numbingly obvious lack of cognitive skills aside, the evening was enjoyable. The food was good. Very good. I do not know what the difference between "very good" and "great" would be in terms of Sushi, and I'm not sure I've even had great Sushi. But for a newbie, it was delicious. The downstairs area (where we sat) was pretty nicely decorated, the Arnold Palmers were so-so, but it was quiet and the staff were very good about providing recommendations. All in all, a nice place. I too am one of the many that live a short walk from Sushi Hai. Man, how I wish I liked this place!! I've been here several times and here's the thing with Sushi Hai: Quality of Food: Meh. As other reviewers have said, the sushi is totally average. I've had a couple times where it was pretty good but most times, it's like buffet-quality sushi. Smallish rolls on the highish end of prices in the area. And made by people who look like they just finished their one-hour sushi class at the start of their shift. Service: Depends on the size of your party. 2 - 4 people - likely awful. Big party? You are the drop-everything, bring-these-people-their-food-quickly priority of the restaurant. My g/f and I have been here a handful of times with larger parties and by ourselves. When we were with 15 or so others, it was normal, decent service, like you'd expect anywhere. Another time, there were six of us - pretty good service. (We couldn't get our waters refilled for the life of us but not bad overall.) It's when we came by ourselves that the service nosedived. Once, there were like 8 sushi chefs all crammed into this little space, mostly goofing around. It took - and I swear I am not making this up - *90 minutes* to get 2 of our 4 rolls out. There was a long series of receipts printed out, all willy nilly and in no particular order. Total cluster. "Oh, there's a really big party here..." We were talking to another couple sitting next to us about how slow it was! After we complained, they gave us a $25 gift certificate for the terrible service....can't totally be upset for their trying to make it right. This inspired us to come back. The next time, mid October of this year, we brought my dad with us. The upstairs area was vacant. Downstairs didn't look busy either. Took probably 20 minutes for the Miso Soup and Edamame to come out, only b/c we had to ask about it. Yet again, shocker - "There's a really big party here." I seriously walked downstairs to take a look. Yup, party of 20 maybe. Hardly anyone else there! And another lonnnnng delay to get our food. We blew 2.5 hours there, spent about $90 for the three of us, and it was like we just got some Costco sushi. I literally was thinking, Man, we should have gone to Taco Bell. This place has got to get their business together. You cannot write off the parties of 2 and 3 b/c you have one big party. They won't come back and they won't bring their friends. The owners of this place need to go to Sushi Den several times with various-sized parties. Notice how they handle the orders. Couple rolls now...couple rolls in a little bit. Notice the quality, the size, the presentation of the food. You can handle all the various-sized parties without alienating the small parties. I've only given these guys another chance here and there b/c it's close and I really want it to be good. If it were cheaper, I'd put up with it. But when you have Sonodas, Japon, Sushi Den and so many others all over town, it's worth the drive to go elsewhere. read more

My friend wanted to meet up while I was home for the holidays so I looked up this restaurant via opentable.com. Good reviews and I was in the sushi mood so gave it a try. Food: We ate the rolls and they were really good. I enjoyed the food and the size and quantity were perfect for a party of two. We actually had some left over! Location: The north side has changed from the days I grew up there which is for the better. Parking was hard as it was a Saturday evening but you can valet for $6 which is a steal. Or you can drive around and find parking nearby. Restaurant: My friend and I talked until we were done chatting and realized the restaurant was actually closed. :-) I was happy that they didn't kick us out and we had time to catch up. Overall experience: I will defiantly go back when I am in Denver again. Great eats and the ambiance was soothing. read more

This place is pretty darn yummy. We had a party of four last Friday night, and decided on sushi around 6p. Not wanting to wait for a table, I tried to go the reservation route. After the hostess told me that she couldn't make us reservations because "they don't take reservations on the weekend" (is Friday technically part of the weekend?), I ended up being able to make a reservation on OpenTable - I love when I can do that. We got a couple orders of edamame (sea salt and spicy), which were good. Hot, nicely cooked, and fairly well salted/seasoned. I would skip the spicy - it wasn't anything special. Assorted drinks of beer, sake, and a saketini were good. We ordered 7 rolls for the 4 of us, which actually ended up being enough without being too stuffed. I always love rainbow rolls, and this did not disappoint. The fish was very fresh, and everything was really tasty. All in all, a good meal. The waiter was a little cocky and pushy, but not enough to deter me from going back. It was delicious and just as good as Sushi Den (which I was not overly impressed with), only much cheaper. And mere blocks from my house. We will definitely be back when we want sushi. read more

Sushi was decent, had a nice flavor and felt full from 1.5 specialty rolls. I came solo and was told I could seat myself at the front of the restaurant, so I chose a 2 top towards the back. I felt a little awkward, the staff seemed preoccupied with large parties at the back which is totally fine but I felt like they were trying to rush me out. I'm probably partial, because I was treated to lunch here, but I'd call it "Frikkin Good!". Overall a cool atmosphere, fresh tasty sushi and good service. Our waitress helped us pick out a delicious Sake to get us started. We then dug into a tasty Miso which was nicely balanced, not too salty and a good precursor to our meal. We ordered a variety of Sushi and tried to find some unusual options as we're pretty adventurous eaters. I would say the menu is pretty typical of a Sushi restaurant in Denver, but there was a roll with a soy paper rather than seaweed nori that I highly recommend. It added a nice nuttiness to the rolls. Louis, the executive chef, is amazing. This is the best sushi I have had in forever. It's pretty expensive, but there are a lot of groupons available so that you can check it out to see if it's worth it to you. I was still trying to do whole 30 and they were very accommodating to me. It's a nice atmosphere inside. It gets a little crowded in the basement so sitting upstairs was more comfortable for us. Reading other reviews I see that people have said the service was slow (that was not our experience) or that the waiters were not engaging (also not our experience). I think it's worth a try, it's become one of our favs. read more

I don't know how many times I can write a review saying that I don't have much of a baseline for sushi before you'd think I'd have a baseline for sushi. I say it in every (all two of them) sushi review. So keep that in mind. If you're a sushi connoisseur, you can give me a disdainful look and continue using those chopsticks like they're a useful piece of cutlery. Anyway, the restaurant is surprisingly big, one story on the ground floor and two stories underground. I think there's a big bar on the bottom floor, but we didn't make it down there. We sat in the middle floor, which was quiet and dimly lit. Our server was as attentive as she could be, with maybe a table or two too many under her supervision. The tiny little water glasses that these places insist on giving you went dry several times, but we drink like fish and she did her best to keep us hydrated. The food came out a little slowly, but of course everything is made to order, so I didn't mind. We had a couple of salads that had an Asiany dressing on them. They were fine. I managed to eat about two thirds of mine with chopsticks before going for the fork, which was pretty impressive for me. We had four rolls, which almost filled us up. The veggie caterpillar roll was pretty simple, but it looked like a caterpillar, with antennae and everything. Cute. The surf n turf roll was tasty but a little sweet for my tastes. The chicksho maki was nice and spicy with the jalapeno. And the shrimp tempura is fried shrimp, and I think that about sums it up. Everything seemed fresh and tasty to us, and the presentation was very fun. Like I said, we don't know too much about sushi, and we've not had sushi in Japan or anything, so take this all at face value. But we enjoyed it. We'd probably come back. read more

I seem to continually find that the more heralded a sushi place is, the less I like it. Sushi Cave? Meh. Abbondanza Sushi? Ugh. And unfortunately Sushi Hai fell right in with that pattern; my friends tell me how great it is, I arrive and feel it's mediocre. Full Disclosure: I walked in the door after having like 7 beers. So some details are hazy, and my perception of things may be colored by that. I liked the decor. It's sort of funky, but cute. It creates an environment that put me off guard, a little, which I liked because it jolted me into paying attention. Kind of like smelling salts for your senses. I thought our server was thoroughly weird, but that made things more fun for a while. She was at least polite and friendly, but for the first part of the evening didn't seem to want to talk to The Ladyfriend, only me. She also took quite a long time to bring drinks, and when they were emptied she only asked me if I'd like another. Sweetheart, your awkward hipster charm isn't enough to make up for Server 101 style deficiencies. As we went on things got a little better, and she seemed more interested in actually aiding in our endeavor to have an enjoyable night out. We sat right in front of the sushi bar which is always an adventure. I mostly don't like it because I like to face the people with whom I choose to dine, and that's impossible at the sushi bar. But at least you're able to watch the artistry in motion that is the qualified sushi chef. Things were quick, well-done, and tasted delicious. A spicy roll (the kind I can't fully remember now) in particular sort of blended into the background, it was so remarkably nondescript. But I suppose that's the danger in ordering anything non-specialty. All in all it was a good time, we used a group-coupon style promotional aid, had a fun time, and got to cross a sushi place off our list. Given its great proximity from our domicile I doubt we'll be going up much, but it was worth a shot. I wanted Sushi Hai to be so much better but instead of rising to the top, it plopped itself into mediocrity. It's not bad, but it's not too fabulous, either. read more

The sushi here is okay, it's not the best sushi in Denver for the price. We tried he gyoza, which was pretty bland and greasy (even though the waitress claimed it was the best in town), the spicy garlic edamame, and several sushi rolls. We went relatively late on a Monday but the only people in the restaurant were using a groupon (that should say something). The service was extremely slow and the prices in my mind were over priced for the quality of sushi. We got a few regular rolls like California, spicy tuna, and a Philadelphia roll. We also went with the double down, the Las Vegas, and the #18. All of the rolls we had were good but ultimately just a little disappointing. There are definitely better places to get sushi in Denver. read more

Okay, so I don't eat sushi per se, but I always tag along when my friends go because there are usually some cooked dishes that I will enjoy. We went to Sushi Hai for a friend's 30th birthday. We had a private room where you sit on a cushion on the floor, but there is a big hole under the table for your legs to hang down. The ambiance tends toward the upscale but is definitely not froufrou. We ordered some appetizers--spicy edamame, tempura vegetables, tempura shrimp, etc.--which we enjoyed, along with some adult beverages. I really liked the kick of the spicy edamame, but the tempura was great too. For dinner, I chose the pasta with the ginger cream sauce and lobster tempura. I really liked the lobster tempura--there was a generous amount of it for the price. My friends ordered a ton of sushi. I think they really enjoyed it, especially the firecracker roll, which has "shrimp tempura, avocado, aioli, and tempura crunchies topped with spicy tuna, green onion, spicy sauce and eel sauce." For dessert, my husband and I split the tempura green tea ice cream, which had a blackberry sauce and a raspberry sauce that came with it and were very good. Others had mochi, cheesecake, and chocolate cake. I think the consensus was that the desserts were pretty good, but dessert is not why you go to Sushi Hai. Our waitress was excellent. She was on the ball with drink orders and clearing the table of bowls and plates. She was also very friendly. One other thing: parking can be a little difficult to find in the area, but you can valet your car at Sushi Hai. read more

Great service, great food and great ambiance! What more could you ask for? I have been coming here for years and love it! The sushi is amazing as well as vegetable tempura, miso soup and Mac and cheese. As for drinks the purple haze is good for saki and Sapporo is a obvious great beer. I love how they have great happy hour specials and offer group deals. Great for celebrations...I had my birthday here a few years ago. They also offer comedy night which by the way is very busy so make a reservation. I love this local highlands restaurant and will continuing coming here! read more

Yes... it's average. Not bad and not GREAT! Service was really good. They are very friendly, helpful and I wanted to like them more for their food. The Calamari was the best item we ordered.... well, they were slightly over cooked and a bit chewy. But had just amount of sauce. I'm guessing it was a Ponzu sauce. The Seafood Dynamite. Well, I could only taste the Aioli (Kewpie "QP" mayo) and sugar. Seafood again overcooked a bit. This dish would be fine if they rethought out the portions they use of the "AIOLI" & sugar. read more

I love the Hai Bar downstairs since it has expanded. The loungey atmosphere is cool and not like any other place in the Highlands. I like hanging out there on a week night over a bottle of wine and a couple of sushi rolls with some friends. The sushi at Sushi Hai is good, but it isn't best of Denver or anything. The main reason I like Sushi Hai is because I don't have to drive all the way across town to Sushi Den, be a part of that god awful yuppie scene, and wait an hour and a half to be seated. Like Christine L, I'm surprised at the mixed reviews for the Hai too. I've been dining here for over a year and, recently, hitting up Happy Hour at least once a week. I do always sit at the bar downstairs, I don't know if that changes anything, but i've always had great service and the sushi is very good. And it's REALLY hard to beat the happy hour prices ($4 rolls, $3 well drinks). One of my faves in the Highlands. read more

The Edamame with garlic butter and tempura flakes is so delicious here! Although not all the wait staff or cooks seem to be familiar with all menu items, I ordered them once in the Haibar downstairs & they came back with dry edamame & pepper flakes... no garlic butter. That was pretty gross & when I explained to the waitress what I ordered before she clearly had no idea what I was talking about. The Sweet Spicy Grilled Tofu appetizer is yummy also. Unfortunately it was not on the lunch menu when I went early one day. I tried to describe it to the waiter & he ended up thinking I meant Inari which is a Tofu Pocket, I didn't enjoy that bland item at all. Being a vegetarian I have tried all the veggie rolls. The Avo Maki (Avocado) & Veggie Caterpiller are my favorite. For desert my friend had wanted to try the Green Tea & Mango Tempura but they were out that day so they made us a Tempura Cheesecake with Strawberry and Mint Glaze... which was really good. This place has a great atmosphere & makes a nice intimate date night on the bottom two floors. But the wait staff is extremely slow in the Haibar area on the bottom level. It is a big place but popular on the weekends so make reservations or be prepared to wait awhile. read more

I don't understand what the hai-ype is about this place. I even tried it twice, just to be sure I didn't hit it on a "bad day" - twice. The first time we were treated briskly (bordering rudely) by the hostess. The waiter was better, but didn't seem to want to be bothered with us. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks, then another 35 to get our food. It was good, but not great. The second time the service was better, but still slow by most sushi restaurant standards. They got the order wrong on two items: nigiri instead of sashimi on the salmon, and brought a cucumber roll instead of an asparagus roll. The waiter didn't offer to take them back; he sort of looked at us like, "well, that's okay, you'll eat it anyway, right?" A bit of arrogance there, at the front and perhaps behind the sushi bar? And the price? Heh, thought I was back in San Francisco or Hawaii. Over the top... To add insult to injury, I got a ticket for not noticing that you need a permit to park after 6:00 on yuppie Highlands oh-so-adorable side street. Yeah, my bad, I know. But... I won't be back. Is that the end of the world? I suppose not. But it's supposed to be trendy Highlands, right? The competition's got them beat. Go to Sushi Bay on Tennyson Street. You'll get much better service and higher quality sushi for the same price. Sushi Hai, I know you know you're the coolest thing on 32nd Ave. Check that trendiness and get a little Zen-humble goin on and you may recover. ;-) read more

So, I hate to admit it but I'm a complete sushi snob!! I will be honest when I first went to Sushi Hai 2 years ago I was NOT impressed. It was sad because I live literally a couple houses away and I couldn't even eat at a a sushi place, I wanted to love, right there! The fish didn't seem fresh to me and the service wasn't that impressive. However, from multiple recommendations from friends, my boyfriend and I decided to go back for another go-around 2 years later. I was completely impressed!!!! They changed my opinion from here on out! The fish was super fresh, the chefs added their own creative touch to the food, the service was great and you can't beat the prices. Went to their Comedy Show for the first time Thursday night, 07/09/15. Had a table of 8 reserved & we were seated immediately in great seats in the corner where we had clear views to see the comedians. Sushi was ok, will have to return there a few more times & sample more to give a better review. Mr Romantic ordered their lobster pasta entree (with truffle oil & ginger). Ummm yeah, not as tasty as one might have expected, given the description! The pasta was overcooked, their was barely any hint of truffle oil & the ginger sauce overpowered the dish. Guess their chef was pushed for time, because it didn't look appetizing either! Just a bowl full of slick ginger tasting pasta with a clump of lobster (tail attached) tossed on top! Will not be ordering that dish again! Our server Ed was great & boy was he hopping that night! Thanks Ed! The comedians were cool, a few of them shone far brighter than the others, had wittier jokes & seemed to capture the audience throughout their entire performance. But considering you only pay $10 for 2 hours of live comedy, you really don't have much to complain about! Their headliner was funny, a local even! However, he was celebrating his birthday that night & had a few too many Patron shots during his performance, which kinda showed towards the end when he had longer pauses between his material! His humor reminded me of Richard Pryor at times. Wouldn't mind seeing him again, sans alcohol! They had a few really hilarious comedians, who I felt really clued in to the crowd & hope to see & hear more of them! Was a pretty cool night all in all! Will definitely return for their comedy nights with other mates in the future! Cost for the two of us that night came out to $91 + tip! (Had a groupon that saved us about $30! I love this place. The food is extremely tasty, the ambiance vibrant, servers are always super friendly. I have brought friends from our neighborhood and also friends from out of state and sushi hai has never disappointed us to date. I will keep on coming back... Hopefully we get to keep this neighborhood secret a little longer.:-) I'm starting to crave their chirashi bowl as I write this. read more

We came to celebrate a birthday and the entire evening left us underwhelmed at best. Service was awful. They sat a couple next to us that was already drunk and belligerent and we asked to be moved. We had to get up three times to hunt the waiter down to ask for tamari, a glass and Perrier. It's unfortunate because this restaurant used to be a favorite but was not worth the price we paid. without taking any hater-ade, this place has tons of flaws and kinda of blows. From the service, to the hostess, to the music, to the general not giving a damn!! food is between 3-4 stars, everything else is more 2 stars, just seems there is no direction with the staff, its a shame since i live in highlands, and want a cool quick bite now and again, but i have written this place off!!! read more

A highly recommend the Groupon deal for a solid date night. The sushi was fantastic. It was fresh with no slimy "been sitting for a while" sushi taste and was reasonably priced with a good selection. The comedians started off pretty bad, not gonna lie. They were working out material and tried saving their act with offensive jokes, that didn't work. There are a total of five comedians, three were outstanding. For $27 you get: Admission to Thursday's Comedy Night for two (8 p.m.-10 p.m.) Two beers (Decent selection) $10 worth of sushi I was skeptical, but they are just trying to get people in on a slow night. It is a really nice restaurant and the food was great. The only disappointment was they were out of a lot of seasonal sushi we wanted to try.
