Newish sushi spot in Southcenter mall. You might be thinking, sushi from a stand in the mall? Well, try it out. It's good quality, amazing presentation, and made by (at least when I was there) women, which I fully support in this previously male-dominated craft. Of course, get there early and get it fresh as they are making it! It's not much for ambience but they do give it a go with a fun television with rotating images and there is seating nearby - although it's often full.

Sushi by the pound here! $14.99/ lb. Cute little place in the mall. They have some really unique rolls like one with ube sauce on it. Staff were really nice. The rolls were not labeled so you have to ask what's in each one. Sushi rice was on the looser side- tends to fall apart when you're eating it. We really like the sushi but the yellowtail nigiri we got tasted old and fishy. We would probably not get that one again, but otherwise cute little spot. $20 for the amount we got today.

The sushi was just okay, and there wasn't a whole lot of selection. On top of that, there was way too much rice in both the nigiri and rolls. I understand it's priced by weight and adding more rice probably increases profit, but that can also easily drive customers away. I won't be coming back.

Since my birthday fell on a Wednesday, we were lucky enough to have Chef Shiro Kashiba himself behind the counter preparing and serving our meal. The entire experience was incredible. The service was organized, attentive, and made the evening feel truly special. Chef Shiro Kashiba is knowledgeable, entertaining, and incredibly passionate about his craft. With every course, from salmon and tuna to white fish, mackerel, shellfish, and eel, he explained how each piece should be eaten, where the fish was sourced, and even shared personal stories from his career. It felt like he was telling a story through every piece of sushi he prepared, making the experience both captivating and unforgettable. Chef Shiro Kashiba is truly inspiring. It was also wonderful to see that everyone seated at our counter had traveled from out of state just to experience his omakase, which speaks volumes about his reputation. This was, without a doubt, the best sushi omakase experience I've ever had. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and every bite was thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were unlike any sushi I've had before and gave me a whole new appreciation for how extraordinary sushi can be when it's crafted by a chef with such deep knowledge and experience. I would absolutely love to come back again. I left feeling completely satisfied and fulfilled, yet hungry for more of this amazing sushi experience. Thank you, Chef Shiro Kashiba, for making my birthday so memorable!

This was our first ever omakase and we were simply blown away. The fish quality was out of this world and I really appreciated the variety throughout the courses. I also didn't realize at time of booking this was a global/fusion experience so this was a very welcome, serendipitous surprise for me and my husband, who love exploring global flavors. There were more traditional bites as well, which I appreciated because while I thought I despised wasabi, turns out I only hate the fake stuff and actually quite enjoy the real thing. The omakase is also offered at a very accessible price point and can't be beat for value. We did opt into the premium add-ons, and while they were fantastic, the regular courses are enough to standalone. We're already planning return visits in our future with family and friends!

I really enjoyed the quality of the fish and how each handroll was made to order. The atmosphere was casual and lively, and it's a great spot to check out while exploring the area. That said, it is definitely on the pricey side for what you get, and parking can add up since there's no parking validation. Overall, I enjoyed the food and experience, but I'd keep the price in mind when deciding where to eat.

What a great concept! Sushi by the pound. This is an excellent idea and it's great if you just want…read moreto try a little bit of everything and not commit to ordering a roll. I love this concept. I'm not much of a roll person bc it's always pricey and then you have to eat all 6-8 pieces, so this was right up my alley. We loved it so much, we came here 2x when we were in Seattle. And even our first time we had to get seconds. All the sushi from the beginning are rolls, and near the end they are nigiris. So save some space for the good stuff at the end. The first time during lunch hour, they kept restocking the sushi, and they even had bluefin tuna nigiri at the very end! Score!! I'm more of a nigiri person so I got half rolls and half nigiri. Of course this isn't like fancy restaurant sushi, but more of like casual dining sushi and bc there were so many people, it was fresh bc it was a high turnover. Sushi quality was decent. Reminded me of just like an AYCE sushi quality. You won't get sick, but don't expect Jiro Dream of Sushi quality here. lol. The other time we went was during dinner of 1 hour before they close, the selection wasn't as good as they didn't have bluefin tuna nigiri, but still worth it and didn't cost us an arm and leg to get sushi. I hope someone catches this concept in San Diego! It's so clever. Love it and would love to come back again.

Usually there are a lot of people and a line, but the line moves pretty fast. One thing is that the space seems a little too small for the number of people coming here. Recently, people have even been eating right on the outside stairs, and the stairs get pretty unclean afterward. I love the concept and the taste! Great place if you want to try a wide variety of sushi without spending a fortune.

Cozy place for a special occasion. Small restaurant. Appears family run…read more Price point for the quality of fish and thickness of cut is reasonable. The popular sashimi plate had sockeye salmon, scallops, king salmon, yellowtail, snapper, and shima aji. 3-4 slices per fish so total about 20ish pieces for $ 75 dollars. Also included salmon roe. Ask which fish is in the plate since it seems to change. Service was good. They serve distilled water which is appropriate for eating raw dish so you actually taste the fish and not the tap water. The star of the night was the miso black cod. Soft buttery and flavorful. Just enough miso to bring out the sweetness of the fish. Some may find it not flavorful enough. It depends on if you are looking for fish flavor or seasoning flavor in my opinion. The only down side is that it's a fatty cut of fish so by the third piece it can be a bit heavy. Ended up cutting the fat with a bit of lemon toward the end and using the shredded pink diakon. For the price of $ 17 dollars, it is quite a good deal as other spots in the area would charge more or give less.
