First of all ket me start by saying I had to guard my sushi and swat at flies the ENTIRE time I was there. Service was definitely faster than it has been at other places. My Tuna Tataki was alright and so was the sashimi I ordered but when it came to the main course of sushi rolls, they were absolutely TERRIBLE. The worst sushi I believe I have ever had in my life. Rolls that should be cold were warm, cooked rolls were not really cooked all the way or it was almost as if they had taken cooked rolls from the fridge. Lastly, the price you pay for what you get is NOT worth it. You could get better sushi from Sake Lounge, RA, Sushi Uni, Sushi Mido, or even Hyvee. Who would have thought my absolute favorite sushi restaurant would be smack dab in the middle of the US?! I eat a lot of sushi and Sushi House is still, hands down, my favorite place to eat it. They've ruined any other Bento Box for me because theirs is just perfect. I'm not joking when I say I could drink their ginger salad dressing. The rolls are made perfectly and always beautiful. I love how they have the perfect ratio of rice to filling. The restaurant space is sleek and clean and the service is always top-notch. Sushi house is a fantastic lunch spot! They have a great variety of lunch specials for around $14 including sushi, sashimi, lunch bento boxes, soups, and more. I enjoyed the lunch box combo C, which was terryaki salmon and veggie / shrimp tempura. I think you can tell a lot about a Japanese restaurant based on the tempura quality, and you could definitely taste that the oil was fresh, and the batter was done right. Also, if you call ahead, it is easy to reserve one of the Japanese-style low table rooms. They are quieter and more private. Good for a party of 4-6. While I like some other spots better for a sushi dinner, this one takes the cake for a mid-day meal! read more

It is a small establishment, in a shopping plaza, but do not let that fool you. The nigiri sushi is fresh and the cuts are well prepared. If you are more of a soup person, I highly recommend their Nabeyaki Udon. While I could tell the chefs have made some type of sushi before, it was no where close to that I would expect from a sushi restaurant. However, the prices were cheap. Maybe this is the best Kansas city has to offer. Which makes me a little sad. Can give it a try if a local. If you're used to higher quality sushi, please don't expect that here. I have been here many times over the last decade. Great food and service, and they are strictly following COVID guidelines.

Some of the best sushi I've had in the KC area. I highly recommend the tropical roll if you're a big fan of mango. Honestly, all the speciality rolls here are on point. Be sure to ask for the Sriracha sauce (I know it sounds weird, but it's so good - and the Sriracha sauce they have here is extra spicy!!). For appetizers, their shumai dumplings are a must! I've eaten a lot of shumai in my life, and these are some of the best, in terms of flavoring and texture and just overall deliciousness. The garlic shrimp come as a close second. Service here can be hit or miss. I once had the best waiter here who was beyond friendly and very attentive. I've also had the other end where I was basically chasing down the waiter when there were only two other patrons at the restaurant. Overall, good ambiance and food. I was in Overland Park overnight on business last fall and had a free night without customer or coworker dinner. So I hoped on my trusty Yelp mobile app to find a good sushi place near my hotel. This place seemed to be the best option and when I checked out their web page I was surprised to see it was part of the same small chain of Sushi House restaurants which are all located back in the Chicagoland area. I opted for a crazy lobster roll, a summer roll, and a kobacha roll, paired with a Free State altbier like tasted similar to Fat Tire (but better). Normally a Kirin Ichiban is the default sushi pairing but I was happy to see a local brewery selection on draft. The rolls were all excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again when I return to that area. read more

Neither of the spicy rolls were spicy at all. The rolls were about 75% rice with barely any fish in them. My waiter never came to check on me and never refilled my water.
