My new favorite (well, not exactly new) place for sushi. The bff introduced me to this place, and I try to order something new every week. The waitress is always super helpful and knows my taste by now. She is very attentive and is very quick to know when we need/would like something. Although I wish they had martinis, their strawberry milkshakes are pretty flipping awesome. Their sashimi, rolls, pad Thai, miso soup, and just about EVERYTHING id amazing. Just tell the waitress what you like and she will suggest something that will blow you away. Seriously. I hope to come here for lunch one of these days to try their specials. Yum! I walked in and it was empty. But the staff was super nice. The place is clean - the bathroom is awesomely clean and comfy. I kinda wanted to chill there. The decoration is really keen. The food is sooo good. The miso soup was just right. A cup was enough to cut the hunger while I waited for my sushi. I tried the Kuto roll - sooo good. I placed my first ever order online at 5:43 PM today. I was quoted 6:43 for my order. An hour seems long, but that's fine, though. But when I call because I haven't heard anything yet and it's well past the delivery time, I don't expect an attitude. I specifically stated that it was 20 minutes past the time I was told *a fact I had to state several times to the woman who answered* and I was asked "And what's the problem??" That's inexcusable. As for the food, I ordered two things I've never tried and two of my favorites from other places. The first two were ones I never tried before: The salmon roe nigiri looked congealed, shriveled and hard. Nothing like the pictures I've seen of it. I really didn't want to eat it. I tried a few eggs, and they were "meh". The sweet potato maki was ok...the sauce has a nice flavor, but the only thing other then the sauce I could taste was the tempura batter. The other two things I tried were my two favorite pieces of sushi I always try: The negi hamachi maki..couldn't find the hamachi, it looked the same color of the rice. And couldn't see nor taste the negi...which being green onion should be noticeable in some way! I also ordered unagi maki. The sauce was ok. I didn't taste much of the eel, it was almost overpowered by the cucumber. How is cucumber ever overpowering? The biggest problem I had with this place? The sushi rice has no flavor. No earthiness of the rice nor sweetness of rice vinegar. How does that even happen? I've made better sushi rice at home from a recipe in Sushi for Dummies. The best part of this experience? That I was disappointed now, rather then for my birthday. I know I wanted to go for sushi with friends for my birthday, and thought this place would work. I would not have been happy if I had gotten horrid sushi and rude service for my 30th birthday. I'll be going to Fuji Grill in Forest Park instead. I won't be back. Ever. read more

This is a relatively new sushi place around the area. My fiance and I like to venture out to different sushi restaurants to check out what they have. We came here on a Sunday night. Ordered 3 rolls and some negiri. I honestly don't remember the type of rolls we ordered because they were not memorable. It wasn't good; I've had better at other sushi restaurants. Living in Berwyn has made it difficult to find gems that aren't Mexican food. Don't get me wrong...I absolutely love Mexican food but it gets boring quick! I stumbled across this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot. I was so hungry that day (it was almost 9pm when we arrived) I ordered the dragon roll and pad see ewe with chicken. The roll was delicious and the portion for the noodles was huge (I had leftovers that I thoroughly enjoyed the next day). The only weird thing was they included onions in the noodle which isn't typical (at least I've never had them before and I always order Pad See Ewe as my first meal at a place that serves Thai. The service was ok. I don't expect much when I go out to Asian restaurants and I'm not trying to offend anyone but that has been my experience. I am a sushi nut, so Sushi Junki was right up my alley. My date, who had given up sushi, after a very bad experience, enjoyed it too. We got there early and felt like VIPs. We had four types of rolls - Pink Lady, Police Roll, Shrimp Crunchy Roll, and Red Dragon. The portions had 8-12 pieces each and averaged out to about $11-12 per dish. Our server was very kind, smart and funny; we even received a complimentary dish from the chefs and a calendar for the Chinese New Year. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I came here to have dinner with my husband and I end up getting kicked out. I was putting on my jacket and forgot to put a tip. I always come here to have Sushi. The ambience is great and the sushi is excellent. My only con would be how unfriendly and unwelcoming the staff is at Sushi Junki. It is almost like the staff doesn't like their jobs. The staff is friendly amongst conversing with each other and never with the patrons. However, Chris (waiter) is friendly, comedic and welcoming. My boyfriend and I recently enjoyed a Saturday lunch at Sushi Junki. The interior is a lot nicer than expected, very neat and clean with simple decor. We shared a spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, you maki roll, and I believe the futago roll. My only complaint worth mentioning was with the futago roll, which was a little overwhelmed by too much sauce. Otherwise the fish was fresh and fairly generous and everything tasty. The prices are not cheap but comparable to a sushi lunch in the city; our bill with tax + tip was ~$55. I can't speak to the other food items- the menu seemed to include a broad range of different Asian cuisines (Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean) which always makes me a bit wary. The sushi is great! It's a hidden restaurant in a strip mall. The waiter can be very rude. On one previous visit, he demanded that we give him 20%. I'm all for leaving a great tip, if there is great service at the other end. It's embarrassing, how he yells at you in front of customers. I let a year go by before I returned, he still hasn't changed much. He seems to rush you as you order. He seems to be the only waiter there so you have no choice. Overall, the the food was decent. I felt prices were a little overpriced for the quality of the sushi. Service was eh, the server responsible for our table was kind of rude towards the end. As I was walking out after finishing signing the note, he pulled me back and began to question the TIP amount while many people were eating. I guess he felt it was too little so he, along with most of the staff, began trash talking in Chinese. I understand TIP is important for a server, but it's not mandatory from the customer. Shrimp tempura roll. That's pretty much it. That's why I go here. I love it and want some more of it. In fact if you had some on your plate, i'd probably use my amazing chopsticks skills and take it from you. I'm kinda a dick like that. This places is in a tiny little strip of stores in Berwyn. Close to my place. It's my second favorite sushi spot, but the one I visit most often. The sushi always comes out warm. I love the crunch of the shrimp tempura and the shrimp is always tasty. Decor and placement (neat and simple is good) 2. Cleanliness 3. Odor (if it reeks of fish, that's not a good sign) I've never been to Sushi Junki, but I can tell you that this place is great! You can order Thai, Japanese or Chinese cuisine. And when it comes to their sushi presentation, it's very neat and clean, and just delicious! They have the option to order online, but some of the items on their website menu do not appear on the online order site which is why I always call my order in....also the name of the restaurant company is J-Wok. So you will see this when you order online or when it appears on your bank statement. They deliver pretty much anywhere, but expect an extra charge if you are farther away than where they are located. Overall, this is our place to go for sushi. This is by far my favorite sushi spot in the Cicero/Berwyn area. The prices are pretty reasonable and the food is spectacular. They have both Japanese and Chinese menus but I've only ordered food off their Japanese menu. When we come here, we typically order 3 rolls- the dragon roll for the kid, something spicy and something new. Another favorite is their smoothies, so creamy and they taste just like the real thing. This is my first time being here there is plenty of parking in the parking lot the inside is very clean and very nice. The menu is very extensive a lot to choose from sushi was very delicious very fresh tasting I have the spicy tuna and the spicy scallop. I also had the shrimp dumplings the shrimp inside was very good The dumpling itself on the outside was a little sticky or slimy. I just think the outside wasn't cooked right. I would definitely like to go back again and try different food on the menu.I think the next time I go back though I still get the dumplings and see what the texture is next time maybe it just was a bad day for them on the dumplings. read more
