I love sushi and have my usual go to places but lots of people said try this place. Omg im so happy I did. The fish was so fresh. The sashimi even came with real wasabi and it was amazing. Despite popular belief, we weren't as impressed as the rest of the customers at this restaurant. We had a party of 5 for 6pm on a Saturday - we waited a good 20 minutes or so and were seated on the side patio. I noticed more and more people began to show up as the dinner hour approached and this place is very popular! The to-go orders were coming out left and right and the owner seemed extremely busy and short staffed. Our waitress seemed to have forgotten us most of the night. The rest of our party showed up and even then, she rarely came around. We sat around a while before we ordered appetizers since our waitress was no where to be found. Gyoza and spicy edamame came to the table and both were average. The edamame spice tasted like a strange ketchup sauce. The gyoza was most likely frozen. I was so irritated because on top of our crappy service, we didn't have proper plates once the food came out. We ordered more food and I was happy with my selection. I went for the curry dish, as I had sushi the night before hand. I did have a couple bites of the sushi, but it didn't really do much for me. The curry was good, level of spice was there and it was a large portion. Again, the service makes a difference and when the food is average, it's not even memorable. read more

A definite new go-to spot for me! The food was top notch! We got the baked salmon roll (the fire is so cool!), spicy tataki roll, and rainbow roll! Super bomb! We also got an order of oysters (comes with 2) and yellowtail sashimi (comes with 5 pieces), which we also loved. The restaurant is very mindful of being COVID cautious and had sanitizer at each table, which was appreciated! There's so many sushi spots on 2nd, but every time without fail I choose @sushi. The lemon roll is absolutely magical, fresh lemon slices wedged between a California roll topped with salmon. Not to mention it comes to your table literally in flames which gives it a nice, smokey, torched flavor. The garlic edamame are comparable to Katsuya, jam packed with flavor. And the salmon carpaccio is perfectly sliced, not too thick, not too thin with a hint of truffle flavor. The owner is also an absolute blast and is always at the restaurant making everyone feel welcome. All in all, if you're in Long Beach this is the place to go for sushi. read more

2nd St has several sushi places and there have been a handful of different places that have opened and closed over the years. The sushi is always decent at all of the places, but there has not been excellent sushi before...until At Sushi! My friend and I ordered a few items to share and we were blown away by every dish. Between the 2 of us, we ordered salmon carpaccio, chef's choice nigiri/sashimi, crunchy lobster roll, and garlic edamame. The presentation of all of the food is very impressive, but the taste and flavor is even better. The fish is all very fresh and flavorful. The chef's choice is a must - for $45, you get a huge 9 square grid with 9 different types of nigiri/sashimi. We enjoyed all of it. In addition to the impressive food, the service is top notch. The sushi chefs are great and very friendly. Our server Calvin was also very helpful and attentive. He gave us great recommendations and was very friendly. At Sushi is my new favorite sushi spot in Long Beach. I'm so glad that 2nd St has this awesome new addition. read more

I checked Yelp before ordering through Grubhub to make sure @Sushi had a good reputation, it was five stars (respectable). The courier was quick and polite. It all comes down to the food: - Garlic Edamame - Over cooked to he point of being brown - Gyoza - Luke warm and slimy outside - Cream Cheese Wonton - cold and the sauce was over powering - Dragon roll - falling a part, slimy required additional sauces to mask the flavor. - Philadelphia Roll - it was fine neither good nor bad - Overall: To be fair, it was delivery so take this review from that standpoint. For me, it's not worth a second try, would not recommend... well maybe to someone I didn't like. read more

My group and I sat outside and he noticed the table was a bit wobbly and immediately fixed it for us before we could even register something was wrong with the table! Excellent food and even more delightful staff! Our waiter Calvin was friendly without being oppressive and he made it his mission to ensure that we ordered the most delicious food. When we dawdled on placing our order he showed up with a sample "from the kitchen"--The "@Cracker"--a delectable mixture of fish, tomato, cilantro and avocado on a deep fried wonton! We were considering ordering that but he said "no worries, order it next time" (and we will). When we did order we requested a "5372 roll" (fish, avocado and lemon in soy paper), a "Surprise roll" (spicy tuna, shrimp, cucumber and avocado), and a California roll. Calvin's face dropped when we added that mundane item and with the slightest bit of encouragement he went on to tell us about HIS favorite--I forget the name but believe it was something like "Baked salmon roll". Of course we had to make the switch, and of course we were glad we did! Also ordered a Hawaiian Poke salad, which was good but not as exciting as the three excellent rolls. This is probably one of my go to sushi spots. They use the freshest ingredients! The servers are delightful! On one occasion my group and I had requested omakase style, letting the chef decide your order...however they were not able to do this because of how busy they were! They apologized because they wanted to be able to turn out their best dishes. We ended up ordering from their menu and not disappointed one bit! Sashimi , rolls , alcohol , and service ! Let me just point this out one of the servers took liberty of walking a quite inebriated customer across the street, just to make sure she reached the other side safely. With all the glowing reviews, I was expecting this to be an outstanding sushi experience. We ordered a few rolls and nigiri sushi for dinner takeout. In terms of quality and flavor, the sushi was solid (but definitely not "amazing"). I have a strong dislike for imitation crab so I made sure to only order rolls that specified snow crab. I was surprised and confused when I opened the boxes and every roll had imitation crab. On top of that, there was a hair in one of the pieces. I called @Sushi and they explained to me that given Covid supply shortages, snow crab is not available. That completely makes sense to me and I understand but that is something they must notify customers in advance. The hostess asked me to come back with my credit card that evening for a partial refund. I appreciated the offer for the refund but when I returned, she didn't even swipe my card and only asked me for some information I could have just as easily given her over the phone. She told me that they would have to call the credit card processor the next day to complete the refund. Again, that's understandable but why make me go back in person for no reason? Ultimately, the owner called me, apologized and offered a gift certificate to return. I am very grateful for their customer service and their eagerness to make things right, hence the 4* review. read more
