First time going into this place after seeing it busy on a Friday night, and I was impressed. Immediately greeted by the staff there, who was eager to seat us anywhere we liked. It was quite roomie, as not to stack table on top of table like most places are these days. They give you more of an intimate feel, so you can share a private conversation, without the person next to you hearing every word - I like that! The place has great ambiance, and the sushi bar looked cozy as well. They had a bunch of beer taps, however at this time, there seemed to be only 5 or 6 beers being poured. ... and now for the sushi! The sushi was fresh. I had the Albacore sushi and Ahi Tuna sushi as well as the baked lobster and the In n out hand roll, all of which had good flavor and was well presented. Prices are a little on the expensive side, but that's about typical for being down in the Shore. It is definitely worth it. This place will for sure become a hot spot amongst the locals, once it's been here for a little while, I guarantee it! I did not want to give this place four stars. I WISH I could give it five. And I wish I could blame it on COVID. But I cannot excuse bad service. If I was rating @sushi based on the food, they would have maintained their five-star streak. Not pictured, but we ordered the soft shell crab with ponzu for an appetizer, and that was really good. The curry was great. Just enough spice, very rich and flavorful, not runny. Could have cooked just a tad longer so the carrots and potatoes were softer but still very good. The chirashi was phenomenal. The quality of fish was amazing, the portions were large, and I got 7 different types of sashimi (tamago, halibut, albacore, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp and toro). The cut of halibut they gave me I never had before and it was really tasty. And the toro was heaven. I really wish I was hungrier to eat more. I would even go back to eat here again, as long as I didn't get the same waitress. She was not pleasant. She was slow. We asked for water and it didn't come out until she brought our appetizer. She brought the chirashi out halfway through the appetizer, and the curry didn't come out for another 15 minutes. Not a big deal, just should have been brought out together. She didn't check on us during our meal. And then when my partner was done she came to pick up our plates. What really irritated me was when she was picking up our plates, I was obviously still eating--I had just took a bite of my salmon and still had three pieces of sashimi left on my plate--and she asked me "are you still working on your dish?" ........ you're joking right? We had to flag her down to get our check. And then for a pen. She was just not attentive whatsoever. Anyway. Food A+. As long as I never get her again, I have no problem coming back. read more

If you want fresh, delicious fish that melts in your mouth and is savory with each bite, this is your place. I've been to almost every major sushi spot on Long Beach--- Sapporo (my personal fav), Aburi, Kihon, Oho, Sushi Kinoya, 39 Degrees, Sushi Kara, Goyen, Ai Sushi, and Sushi on Fire. In terms of quality, this place is better than all of them, including my favorite Sapporo, which I never thought would be possible. It will be slightly more expensive, than the aforementioned but it's BEYOND worth it. Sometimes you just want sushi, regardless of quality... this isn't the place to go for that because there's cheaper out there. BUT if you want GREAT sushi without leaving Long Beach, you'll be doing yourself more than a favor by going here! I'll be a regular undoubtedly! beware!! M delivery order had rolls filled with crab salad. never listed as an ingredient, I'd never order that crap. Long Beach roll had no asperagus, avacado or cilantro. just a tiny piece of shrimp and cheap crab mix. same with the string tempura roll- just a stuffed cheap crab salad. what a wripeoff. the fish on my yellowtail sushi was not yellowtail- maybe just more cheap pollack.
