We went last Tuesday and waited not even one minute! We got sat right away, very friendly staff!! As we sat down we looked at the Menus everything looked so so good. We started with some Edamame and crispy rice and waters with lemon. I ordered one of their most famous sushi rolls can't remember the name! Sister got the ohilly deep roll and other sister got one of the vegetarian rolls called double crunch! What can I tell you? The food was amazing!! Super tasty! Lots of flavors! Fresh!!! We have been here multiples times. The sushi is good, but the chefs give you what they want. I can think of three occasions where the items were not what we asked for. Two times we have been charged regular prices for HH (that was an ordeal to change). The first few times we came we had great service, (this is when they opened up seating outside a second time), but the last two times we have gone it was average. We went there tonight and they got something wrong on our order again and instead of asking to replace it or taking it off our bill we were told by our server that it was written on the ticket correctly, it was the chefs fault. I just feel it could have been handled better. I think we'll give them more times to redeem themselves. read more

I enjoyed a terrific lunch at this newer sushi lounge on Point Loma. I ordered a number items including a tekka maki cut roll for $4.50, a salmon skin roll for $7, and a green monster roll for $7. With a yelp check in, I was to take advantage of a garlic edamame appetizer a $4 value. I first dug into the tekka maki and garlic edamame. The tuna cut roll or tekka maki was good and although it was small, the did put a significant amount of tuna in the roll. The ratio was more tuna than rice. The garlic edamame was great. It not only had a good garlic flavor, but it also had a mild chili sweet flavor from the sauce they poured over them. They had a nice smoky roasting on them too which better their flavor even more. The green monster is a vegetarian roll and it comes with a lot of great ingredients. It came with cucumber, creamy avocado, sprouts, asparagus, tender enoki mushrooms, yamagobo, seaweed and wrapped in green soy. It was a very good roll, and I really liked the fact that the asparagus and cucumbers still had a good crunch which gave the roll very good contrasting textures. The salmon skin roll was my favorite of the rolls. They certainly did not skimp on the salmon and they provided a good amount of salmon meat still attached to the skin. The salmon skin was very tasty and they prepared it well enough that it had a good crispiness in the roll. I am all about textures when it comes to sushi rolls and this one hit the mark for me. They offer some very nice lunch specials as well. Kaitlyn was my server and she was terrific. I loved her friendly demeanor even when she was under pressure from the lunch rush. We came in because we recently moved to the neighborhood, and I promised my son sushi. They have happy hour prices from 4 to 6 and the prices were exceptionally good. My wife is allergic to shellfish, and our waiter was exceptionally accommodating and told us they can make anything alternatively, without shellfish. I've tried several sushi places around SD and I wouldn't have expected this restaurant on Rosecrans to be one of my favorites. It's the one we want to keep coming back to. Right from the "get-go" the staff is very friendly, professional and helpful (who knew you can order sushi without rice and get it with soy paper instead!). Alyssa has been our bartender the last few visits and she awesome. We have met the manager Kennedy and he's also top-notch. In fact, its Kennedy that assisted us many times on our orders and makes GREAT suggestions and his recommendations have never disappointed. * One standout dish for us is their Citrus Chili Yellowtail, which is incredibly fresh and EXTRA delicious. The Yellowtail is sliced thin (the way we love it) drizzle in a Yuzu soy sauce, topped with very thin lemon slices, serrano chilies and fresh cilantro - when I say it's "it's melt in your mouth delicious I am not exaggerating. We enjoy our sushi on Wednesday whereas you can get the Super bonus, 1/2 price bottle(s) of wine and this dish goes perfectly with La Crème Chardonnay. * It's a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered, and I can't wait for our next visit. Try several of their sashimi dishes if you want to taste fresh fish without the other ingredients. We went here very early in the morning (1:30pm) for breakfast. We ordered rolls, soup, lunchboxes and salads. The soup came first followed by everything else. I didn't find myself growing impatient during the wait. The service was fine. Our waitress was polite and quick. Our water was refilled quickly each time it was drained. The place is very bright and there are hanging lanterns that contribute to the atmosphere. There was also music playing at a reasonable volume; you could hear it if you tried but couldn't hear it whilst engaging in casual conversation. THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!! We came here for my daughter's birthday. What a terrible experience from beginning to end. We may as well have had no server at all. I love the rolls here as they are fresh and have fun flavors & sauces, but the Garlic Edamame is a huge miss. When I see Garlic, I expect Garlic. In reality it's edamame that is COATED in cinnamon with a little sweetness. It's not good & tastes like a mistake. This is my favorite sushi spot in Point Loma! Street parking only, although it's usually easy to find a spot in the neighborhood. Happy Hour 4-6 with specials on rolls and drinks! The sushi is fresh, delicious, and always fast. my favorites are the Protein Roll (no Rice) and the Ponzu Salmon Sashimi. I also LOVE the Udon! When being shown to the table. our feet were sticking to the floor. All the way across the restaurant. Eeeeww. The rolls were okay but not tightly wrapped so they would fall apart when picked up. Also, this was the first time that I noticed, almost all of their rolls start with tempura shrimp. So, when you're trying to avoid fried things, it is difficult. Was really disappointed with this place. I've had so so service here before but it's always been redeemed by great food. Tonight i ordered takeout and after waiting an hour and a half before picking it up per the website time estimate I arrived to half my order and some lame excuse about how someone took the other half? After 3 attempted phone calls went unanswered at 715pm to rectify the situation I left a message and hopefully will get a call back? What a pitiful excuse for customer service to not answer the phone during business hours and not be able to fill an order properly after almost 2 hours. Also for a place that is so anal about masks and Covid rules it's an absolute joke anyone can walk in and has access to touch the takeout orders like it's a 7/11 sushi counter. *** edit after a few days I called back and was greeted by a kind lady who was able to refund and fix the situation. Actually impressed with this place! I have lived in San Diego for 4 years and never gone and always wanted to. The sushi I usually order, I want to be a little spicy, but they're never spicy enough. The rolls I got here (wish I could remember all the names) were the perfect spicy flavoring in combo with some lemon on top. The prices aren't bad, either. We went here for restaurant week on a Friday. The place was fairly busy, but we were still seated right away! The RW deal offered 2 appetizers and 1 entree per person for $30, which is a great deal. The unfortunate part was that our food and drinks didn't arrive until 45 minutes later. The waiter, manager, and sushi chef came to us and apologized for his mistake and comped our meal. It's refreshing see that they owned up to the mistake and tried to make it right. It's shows that they really cared. Also the food was good! We ordered the calamari, jamiepeno, ponzu salmon, haji tataki, tazmanizan devil roll, and albacore special roll. I think my favorite was the haji tataki and ponzu salmon the best. Amazing gluten free menu!! I have only written 3 reviews in my long life... this is my 4th. I was almost dissuaded by the poor reviews, but it is hard to find gluten free sushi. Boy am I glad I tried it!!! The selection was magnificent! Service was great. Our girl even brought us water to go, without us asking (we drank several glasses of water at dinner). There was only a $2 up charge to get real crab! They were not stingy with it either. Prices were reasonable. And they even had gluten free tamari. Cornstarch coated vegetables with ponzu sauce had a very thin coating, but tasty. When we asked for extra ginger, she brought out an overflowing half cup. It doesn't hurt they are next to a reasonably priced, generous, gourmet ice cream shop. It was definitely worth making the trek from East El Cajon! read more

I've been coming to sushi lunge for a while now, and usually love it. I don't ever leave bad reviews for a place, but thursday night i came with a friend we sat outside. right after i finished eating, i felt weird and i passed out. when i woke up the bartender had asked if i was ok/needed to call anyone. and then i was sitting there, still not feeling well, and the busser came right over to clear the plates. and then he came back a 2nd time and pretty much took the water i was drinking out of my hand. my friend handed the busser her credit card ( because the server had never come out to see if i was okay) he goes "ummm what table is this" like figure it out! server came back to drop the book off, didn't say a word. the bartender came back to ask if i needed help to my car, pretty much telling me to leave. this was around 9:10 pm and they close at 9:00. i get it they were closed, but it felt like me fainting was an inconvenience to them, and to A. take my water before i am up from the table, after what just happened and B. the fact that not the server or the manager came out to check if i was okay is so disappointing. I am a server at a restaurant myself and my staff would NEVER do that. i am never coming back here, and i am telling everyone about your horrible customer service:/ read more

Had to replace-order and was told order would be priority. Drinks came slow, sushi delivery delayed but well timed following the snafu. My fiancé and I visited on a Sunday around 5pm and we were excited to try this location, as I'm familiar with the Sushi Lounge location in Poway near my work. We were seated quickly, which was the only good interaction we had, as we were then ignored for at least 15 minutes. No waters, no greeting from our server, nothing. The restaurant was far from full and all the workers seemed to be congregating near the kitchen chatting. After waiting about 20 minutes for any server to come over, we decided to leave. We stood up and the sushi chef said "thank you" as if we enjoyed a meal there. Maybe there was a miscommunication, but we still had menus and that should have tipped them off. First time trying Sushi Lounge. It was really nice. Friendly staff. Clean. I ordered some veggie tempura, very crispy, just the way I like it! I also had the Chronic roll, and a couple pieces of eel/unagi nagiri. The roll was great, held up well and didn't fall apart. The unagi was delicious! My hubby got the 2 roll special and had the Crunchy roll and spicy tuna. His came with a bowl of miso soup, which I ate lol and I loved that they put mushrooms in theirs. Our go to neighborhood sushi spot. The Chronic and Chuck Norris are our favorites rolls thus far though I can't say I have not liked any of their specialty rolls. I also really like the stuffed jalapeno appetizer and our daughter loves the kids dumplings meal. Friendly staff and I think they run happy hour 4-6 every day but Monday so you get a little bit of a discount on a number of items. Definitely a good spot worth checking out! read more
